Want photo to print on spot color plate, not black

Have black & violet 2-color job. Want one photo to print on violet plate, but I can't get it to change... Thanks L W

Drag the swatch from the swatches panel and drop it on the photo. This
will only work with a grayscale image with no transparency.
FWIW, you'll get a better look if you open it in Photoshop and create a
duotone there or use a mixed ink in InDesign.

How to print a downloaded color document in black or gray scale

I have Adobe Reader 9; Windows Vista Home Premium; HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless printer. I have downloaded a document that is pre-set to print in color. I want to print it in black or gray scale. I click on the printer icon for the printing pop up. When I click on the Properties bar to make the request for black or gray scale, nothing happens. What steps can I take to convert the pre-set color download to be printed in black or gray scale? Thanks!

I have only had the experience when I have downloaded a link from within an email to my Hotmail account when the download has already been set up in color. To date, I have not had that problem with Word. There are specifically two situations regarding two different monthly emailed newsletters. This is through Internet Explorer 8; Windows Vista Home Premium. (I will not use Internet Explorer 9. It causes blocks for routine procedures, especially involving my Hotmail account--such as not being able initially to download a normal attachment or, if downloaded, not being able to print a normal download attachment.) However, after I sent out my request for help, I switched to Mozilla Firefox and was able to print the "color" download in black right away because the Preferences bar responded as it should. (Through Internet Explorer 8, regarding this particular link/download/attachment, the printing pop up had a Properties bar. However, I am aware that, in some other pop up formats, there are both a Properties bar and a Preferences bar to choose from.) I have Mozilla Firefox as a backup because, sometimes, I have to resort to it to download email attachments (whether black or color) coming from the east coast when they will not download through Internet Explorer 8. (I am near the geographic center of the US.) Thank you for your interest in my concern. I will gladly accept any advice regarding being able to print an email attachment/link color download in black when using Internet Explorer 8! Does it depend on how the link attachment is set up or what the link attachment is??

My Spot Colors are not appearing in the Separations

Hello everyone!
I'm having a problem here. I've designed a piece with spot colors, but I can't figure out why they don't appear in the separations and don't export as separate plates. My exported files end up as all process colors.
In my searches on this problem, the most common solution is that the option in the Ink Manager to convert Spot Colors to Process is checked, but as I've shown in the below screen shot, it's not. It's grey out, which is even more confusing to me.
I'm stumped. Help?

Actually they are not the same at all.
2905UP is a CMYK mode color and its Color Type is process, 2905U is a Lab mode color and its Color Type is Spot.
2905UP is a CMYK simulation of the 2905U solid ink color and it may or may not match depending on the press conditions. Some solid ink colors can't be matched using process colors under any conditions because they are not in the CMYK color gamut.
On screen they can also look different because the solid color's Lab definition is unaffected by the document's CMYK profile, while the bridge version is because it is a CMYK color.
Here's the solid version on the left and the bridge version on the right with with US Web Uncoated and US Newsprint profiles. The Bridge version is a terrible match under either of those press conditions.

Print to Tape color bars and black order

Hello. i'm about to print a videoclip for a tape. my question is the following, in the print to video setup theres is the option for color bars and black.. but the color bars come first and then the black. i would like to have the black first for 2 minutes and then color bars for 30 seconds..how can i do that?

I want full control over how things happen. As an added benefit, by keeping everything in the sequence timeline, I have the ability to use a custom countdown clock.

Spot color infomation not shown in Document info objects

In the eps file, I have checked the Document info-->Objects menu in that spot color mentioned as "NONE"(refer img1.jpg). But in the same eps file Document info-->"Spot color Objects" menu its shows E(CMYK)(refer img2.jpg) that is spot color name. Could you please advise me why this difference occurs. Also I need to get this spot color object name via javascript, how to get this infomation?. I have attached the screen shot for your references.

Text reflow when converting from rgb spot color to process black

The setup that I'm using is a G5 Mac OSX, version 10.4.11. The InDesign application is CS3, version 5.0.3. The fonts are loaded into Extensis Font Reserve, server 1.7.4. The InDesign document has a text box using 2 different font sets. One set, Helvetica Neue, uses the rgb spot color. The other one, a mixed set of New Century Schoolbook, is used for a paragraph which is process black. When deleting the rgb spot color from the swatches and converting it to process black, the New Century Schoolbook reflows which had already been process black.
If I just select the Helvetica Neue type and change that line to process black there is no reflow problem.
When I tried this document on another Mac with the same set up there was no reflow. Is this an InDesign preference problem? Thanks

If you change the color back and then back again, do you get more reflows?
The reason I ask is that when InDesign opens a document, it holds the existing composition of stories until you apply any edit. So, it could be that what you're seeing here is that yours and your user's setups are different enough that reflow is inevitable the moment you edit the text, and changing the color counts as editing.

Photos are printing poorly, muted colors. I have 10.9.5 and am using iPhoto 9.5.1

I use a relatively new hP photosmart printer and always had great color in my prints on my previous iMac. Now, with the new one my photos are muted and do not look like what I see in iPhoto. Any suggestions? I have not loaded Yosemite and don't know if that would help. I keep reading too many horror stories!

What version of iPhoto and system are you running? Can you print normal looking photos from another app, say Preview? Do you know the color profile of the photos you're trying to print? You can see what it is by opening the photo with Preview and checking the Info window's General Pane:
Does the HP printer have a printer utility that can do a test print of each of the color cartridges to check for correct flow, etc.? If so have you tried it?

HP Photosmart 6510 e-All in One Series I want it to print off my PC in just Black and not Colour?

Please help! I have been in to settings for the printer on my Lap-top and can not find anywhere that will allow me to adjust to just printing in Black and White when I need it and not Colour all the time, which it is doing!

My c5180 will print in color but not black and white

I can't print in black and white with my HP Photosmart C5180 all in one. I put in a new cartage and it still only print in color without black ink. I've tried all the buttons in HP Print and Scan Doctor but I don't know what it is that I should like at. So I can't tell if it fixed it or not. Should any of them have black in it. I've tried uninstall and reinstall the drivers that did not work. When I use HP solution center I used the “align the print head” the box form left to right blue, red, and yellow all are light in color and the four is brown. Can anyone help

Please perform the below mentioned steps that should resolve the issue.
Press the SETUP ( Wrench tool ) button, then
Press TOOLS , then
Select CLEAN PRINTHEAD and press OK button.
You might have to try the above step for 2 -3 times.
Check if BLACK is being printed.
If issue still persists, please call HP Tech Support for further assistance.
If you are in US , the toll free # is 1-800-474-6836 .
If you are not in US , then log on to www.hp.com , at bottom-left corner there is a world map icon, click on it and then select the region you belong to, which would then provide support options for you for that region.

Email photo to print out on copy paper - not photo paper

I prefer to take a photo with my iphone, email it to hpeprint and have it print out on copy paper rather than photo paper - Is that possible?

Yes this is possible. You can send the picture to your printer's email address as an attachment. That will allow it to print out on copy paper. If you print it directly from your iPhone it will print out on photo paper.

Printing more than 27 spot colors HELP

I have been printing a document that I use more that 27 spot colors, I use a Xerox Docucolor 240 which supports printing pantone colors. I have been printing this document for 3 years now when I try to print this document I am getting an error. It wants me to convert my spot colors to process, but when I do this my colors do not print properly. Any Ideas? It is very important my colors print correctly for this document, I can not convert them to process. Why has this stopped working for me now?

Hi Tracy. I found this post when searching for a solution to the same problem! Our workflow incorporates a lot more spot colours than 27 as we are merging a document which imports graphics/images according to a customer's branding. We have to use spot colours so that we can tweak them to a closer match when temperature/new fiery updates etc change the colours away from the orginal created (our customers have literature printed months, sometimes years later than when created). We simply wouldn't have time to manually input tweaked colour values to all the artwork documents we handle.
Anyway, Tracy I also ran into the same problem. We used to be fine merging, with each page being created and added so we end up with a multipage file after the merge, and then we can spool to print in one hit. Now all of a sudden we have this error too. No I haven't found a solution either! Please do let us know if you find an answer.
