Connecting SAP CRM (or R/3) to FileNet
We are implementing a SAP CRM 5.0 system, and FileNet P8 is to be used as the document repository for SAP CRM.
We are using the FileNet adaptor, called ACSAP for SAP R/3, which allows us to connect to SAP CRM using the generic ArchiveLink functionality. However, we have found that the generic SAP ArchiveLink functionality is very restricted compared with the standard SAP CRM document management (e.g. versioning, creation from templates etc).
For example the documents tab on a SAP object, such as the business partner, allows users to import or create documents from new or from a template. The user will be prompted to enter metadata and this document will have a version associated with it and it can be checked in and checked out by the user. However we are currently using ArchiveLink which requires the user to click "activate ArchiveLink" to create the ArchiveLink folder. In order to save a document in ArchiveLink the user must then import or create a document in the ArchiveLink folder. Unfortunately most of the functionality mentioned previously, such as creation from a template and metadata capture, is not available when creating a document in the ArchiveLink folder. We have also found that due to the lack of metadata the document name is generically assigned and thus is not useful to the user for identification.
In addition it is not possible to force users to save their documents into ArchiveLink, therefore they are able to save them outside of the required document repository. We have been unable to find a good solution to this problem.
So we want to know if it is either possible to:
- Specify that SAP CRM document management use ArchiveLink as its standard document repository?
- Connect FileNet/ACSAP directly to SAP CRM document management without using ArchiveLink?
Has anyone had experience connecting SAP CRM (or SAP R/3) to FileNet, and is able to provide us with some insight?
Thanks
PhilipQuestion was recreated in DMS group. No answer as yet, but hoping to get answers from SAP soon.

MS Word integration with SAP CRM: can a PDF be created from the MS Word doc
21/11
Gurus,
I know have a better understanding of the topic but still have 2 open questions.
I now know that StreamServe cannot read .DOC files but can read and work with .PDF files.
Since we are in a SAP forum and not a StreamServe forum,
1/ I am wondering if SAP CRM 2007 can convert the MS Word generated and populated documents into .PDF. Possibly immediatly.
2/ Can the MS Word generated and populated documents be saved by SAP CRM 2007 as .XML files?
Thanks again.
Dear All,
On my project, there is a requirement to generate ad-hoc and amendable letters in CRM (2007).
We might have +150 letters so I am thinking about using MS Word integration with SAP CRM to deliver this.
With SAP CRM 2007, I understand that it is indeed possible to generate WebServices that will then be consumed by Word templates through the mail merge functionality. So agents will not have to enter BP name, address and so on. All this can be done by configuration which is great.
My point of concern is how to integrate this design to StreamServe for printing purpose (we do not want to go into local printing)
Can StreamServe collects the Word generated document?
Should this Word document be converted as PDF before or can StreamServe do it?
Should StreamServe exploits the XML contents within the Word generated document?
Thanks for your help and insights about this.
Brice.

Edited by: Brice Vialle on Nov 21, 2008 9:34 PMHi Chris,
Your advice helps me a lot, thank you.
I upload an XML-Format template Word Doc to server as a MIME Object.
When OfficeControl is started in Web Dynpro, OfficeControl automatically open the XML-Format template.
For the first time, I get the XString-type Context attribute bind to the content of the Word Doc,
then translate it to string, I got the XML-format content, it's great!
However, after the first time, when I input any new contents in MS Word in Web Dynpro,
no matter I execute "Ctrl + S" or click the "savedocument" button,
when I translate the XString Context attribute to String, I got messy code. (but the first time, it is good plain text)
I use the function module: ECATT_CONV_XSTRING_TO_STRING (good for first time, dump after first time),
SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY, SCMS_BINARY_TO_STRING (good for first time, messy code after first time).
My Demo source code is in: (system) SMV --> (local object) zhaode --> (Dynpro Component) ztest_office_control
core source code is as:
clear itab.
CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY'
EXPORTING
BUFFER = lv_datas
IMPORTING
OUTPUT_LENGTH = lv_length
TABLES
binary_tab = itab.
CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_BINARY_TO_STRING'
EXPORTING
input_length = lv_length
mimetype = 'text/plain; charset=utf-8'
IMPORTING
text_buffer = lv_datas_string
output_length = lv_data_len
TABLES
binary_tab = itab.
Can you give me some advice?
Best Regards,

How to create switch documents in SAP CRM?
Hi,
I'm trying to create switch documents in SAP CRM. I'm using method CL_CRM_ISU_ORDER_DEREG=>CREATE_SWITCH_MESSAGE but one of the parameters is CONTEXT...
Someone knows how this parameter should be filled?
Thanks,
AndréHi Andre,
the class CL_CRM_ISU_ORDER_DEREG is used by the classes of the utilities process framework to create a switch doc in the context of a process. The context parameter is a reference to the process context. The class CL_CRM_IU_PR_CNTR_START, for example, uses CL_CRM_ISU_ORDER_DEREG in the ON_POD_CHANGED method to create a switch doc.
While it is possible to set up a process context in a custom program the real question is what are you trying to achieve? Maybe it is easier to solve your requirement in the context of the process framework that to start from scratch.
Are you aware of the concepts underlying the utilities process framework? If not have a look at the following documents:
Process Framework in Contract Management - SAP CRM for Utlilities

Upload/Read Documents from SAP-CRM to/from SharePoint
Hello ,
We have a requirement to upload documents from SAP CRM to share point(select the document from the desktop and pass the data to sharepoint server) , the user should also be able to view the documents located in Sharepoint.
There are web methods in SharePoint already developed which will allow the uploading of the documents and passing the location of the stored documents as URL back to CRM.
Could any one please help me in the follwoing
1. Configurations to do on SAP side for Calling the methods developed in Sharepoint.
2. Configuration to pass the document from SAP CRM(Uploaded from desktop) to sharepoint.
Thanks in advanceHi Ravi,
We also have a similar requirement in which we need to read the document stored in an external server from SAP CRM. Can you please let me know know how you achieved this. I will know the exact path (URL) of the document. Using this is it possible to retrieve the content of the document.

I downloaded the adobe XI software and it shows in my Adobe download assistant as downloaded but I can not open it and it is not a part of my applications. Very frustrating download process as I just want to convert a PDF file to an editable word document...
Odonnells52 you will still need to install Adobe Acrobat Professional prior to being able to make edits to PDF or utilize Acrobat. By default the installation files have been saved to your download folder.
If you continue to face difficulties with the Adobe Download Assistant then please see Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant.
You can also download the installation files directly from Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | XI, X if you are unable to locate the downloaded installation files. -
In MAC, I want to change document size from 8.5X11 to 18X24 to create a poster to print through Staples. I created the doc originally in WORD, changed the size in WORD, converted to PDF doc. But PDF doc is still in 8.5X11. Read ADOBE support help info. Terls me to change size in application rather than printer. BUT ACROBAT Pro does not give me a page set up option in FILE. I can only find one in the printer dialog box. Help!
from the FAQs on Staples website:
I have a file that I know is a PDF, but the website claims it is not in a PDF format. What should I do?
Check to see that the file has the .PDF extension. Also, check that the filename does not have any special characters such as an ampersand (“&”).
Regarding your measurements set to centimeters rather than inches; is it just in MS Word?
Or does it occur in all other applications.
Check your Work preferences first:
If it is happening in all your applications, check your Mac OS System Preferences. -

Amit Gupta.Hello Amit,
I am not able to understand your requirement correctly. Are you trying to attach the Document as a Attachment to the Interaction record (or) trying to attach it as a Archive Link Document??
If you could give me more info.. I think I will be able to assist you with this as I have worked in this area...
Cheers..
