Want to burn another copy of IDVD a week later - no audio in preview

First IDVD worked beautifully - I just want to create another copy - but when I preview it, there is no audio.

I have discovered that the problem is orginating in IMovie. I will post a question there.

  • IDVD saved/Can I burn another copy???

Hello, Last week I created a iMovie and then burned it to iDVD. I saved the iDVD file and the iMovie file. Is it possible to burn another copy of that movie without all the encoding time? It runs 45 mintues and took hours. I also have TOAST 6 if that would be easier. Or do I need to start the iDVD process all over? I opened the iDVD file and it played so I am hopeful.
    Thansk in advance,
    Sue

If the original files are intact then the encoding process (multiplexing) ought to go much faster the second time. If you envision making additional copies consider saving a disk image from iDVD and then burning that with Disk Utility or Toast.

You can also download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • Purchased audiobook on iphone5 and I want to burn a copy

Is there a way to burn a copy of an audiobook I bought from the iTunes Store?  or at least get it onto my desktop imac?  When I open itunes on my imac it doesn't show up under my audiobooks.

itunes11.2.1 doesn't allow me to select my iphone.  It just has a button(no icon) at the top right that says "iphone 5" and takes me to the iphone summary.  Are you using an old version of itunes?  I know this used to be a lot easier with just clicking and dragging files.

  • F I have burnt a playlist of mp3's to a CD and want to burn another one onto the same CD, will it overwrite the first one or add to the CD?

I know that mp3's take up less space, so I didn't realize I could've probably burnt a lot more files onto the CD. I burnt 10. I'd like to add more. Will it add them, overwrite what I already burnt or what? Just wondering before I do it. Thanks!
    [I'm using a PC with Windows 7]

If the disc is erasable then erase and burn all the tracks as desired. Audio CDs need to burned in one continuous action and the session closed. With data discs it may be possible to add to a previous session, but I don't know if iTunes supports that feature, and not every reader does which could be an issue.

  • Burning 16:9 in iDVD

I am using FCE v. 1.0.1. I imported my DV in the 16:9 format. I now want to burn a DVD in IDVD (I Life 05 version). I am able to burn but it remains in the 4:3 format. Any suggestions
I exported a Final Cut moive then imprted it into iDVD 5 and it comes in as 4:3 format.

I have Final Cut Studio on the way and hope that I can import the file in to FC 5 and then use the authoring software DVD Studio Pro 4 to burn the 16:9 format.
Update all those apps first. I think all the updates total about 115MB...
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/download/
You might consider just importing the file into DVD Studio Pro 4.0.2. DVD Studio Pro will do the encoding. I prefer to export out of Final Cut Pro as MPEG-2, but your case, at this point, is different.

If you want seperate accounts for managing apps and purchasing content, basically yes, you need two account and would need to repurchase. However, if you just want seperate ID for iMessgae, icloud and such, you can do that and still continue sharing the same Id for apps and itunes.

  • IMovie 6 to iDVD, want to burn on another machine

I have a new intel MAC dual core machine running iLife 6, but no DVD burner.
I have an older MAC with ilife 5 that has a DVD burner. I have made a rather long movie ~ 2 hrs, that I want to burn to a DVD. Question, is there some way I can save the movie on the new machine as some sort of exportable file that I can copy to the old machine have it burn it to a DVD?

Yes you can move the DVD file to another computer in order to burn it as a DVD. In order to do this you must first go under the file menu at the top, then go down to where it says "save as Disc Image". This will save your DVD as a file that can be moved from one computer to the other. Once you have the file on your other computer, use the Disk Utility program that should be located in the Utility folder in applications. You then mount the Disc Image of the DVD and burn it to a DVD

  • Once iDVD has been used to create a DVD, how can I make another copy?

This may be a rookie question, but because of my bad history with computers, I generally don't like to use too much of my hard drive. I have a lot of family videos in iMovie now, and I want to be able to make a DVD and delete the originals from my hard drive. I also want to be able to make another copy of the DVD later.
Is there a way to do that with just the Mac or is something else needed...since it seems that I am essentially burning DVDs?

If you do a 'Save As Disk Image' from within your iDVD project when you have finished it, you will be making a disk image file for that project. Disk image files are self-contained, thus all the media information is encoded into the disk image file. You can then safely delete all the photos, movies, music files that were used to create your iDVD project and still retain the ability to burn more DVDs of that project in the future.
You use Disk Utility to burn more copies.
I save disk image files for all of my iDVD projects and place those files on a large external hard drive.

  • I just finished creating a movie in IMovie and now want to burn it to a DVD and make it loop.  Since I just purchased this IMac it no longer comes with IDVD.  My question is how to burn and loop a dvd without IDVD.  Thanks for any help.

I just finished creating a movie using IMovie and want to burn it to a DVD and loop it.  Since I just purchased this mac it looks like they no longer include IDVD.  Is there something out there to help me do this.  I am new to MAC and any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

There is free open source software called Burn that will burn DVDs. Here is a link.
If you wish to pay for software, there are many, including TOAST TITANIUM from Roxio. Apple's retail copy of iLife 11, and Apple's Compressor.
Of these, I would say that iDVD is known for being able to create very professional looking DVDs with intros, menus, lots of interesting templates.
Toast is much simpler and the menus and templates are more plain.
Compressor is a professional tool that does a lot more than make DVDs. Don't expect much in the way of menus or templates.
Burn, I have never tried, since I have iDVD and Toast for those ocasions when I need to burn a DVD. However, since it is free, I think it is worth a try.
Each software package is a little different, but in general, in iMovie, you can use the SHARE menu to SHARE/MOVIE in Large size. Save the movie to your desktop or someplace you can easily find it. Then drag it into the tool of your choice. You can alsouse SHARE/MEDIA BROWSER/LARGE if you have iDVD or Toast.

  • Is making a copy of a DVD as good quality as burning another original?

I am transfering old video tape onto DVD.  When finished, I will have a dozen different DVDs.  I want to give copies to my family for Christmas.  Burning the first 12 and then making copies seems to be the fastest way to do this.  But will I get a better product if I burn multiple originals from iDVD.
What I don't know is if iDVD is going to render and compress the project for each additional DVD - thus adding hours of production time.  Anyone have a suggestion?

Being digital there should be no quality loss from copy to copy.
The easiest, and quickest, way to burn multiple copies of a DVD is to save the DVD project as a disk image, and burn that in the required number. No rendering is involved.
Bear in mind that your Superdrive can get hot. Give it a rest, and yourself a coffee, after you have burnt 3 or 4 copies!

  • Is it impossible to burn a second copy of a DVD after you have burned the first from iDVD? i am using OS 10.6.8 and iDVD version 7.1.2. the DVD is inserted, then iDVD ejects it, but keeps running as though it is working but it's not.

    any help is much appreciated.

thanks guys; but the problem is that iDVD does not want to burn a disk now from the original movie-project. i see the movie project on teh desktop and can launch it just fine - even play it through the iDVD application - but when i click burn, it asks for a disk (I insert a memorex DVD+RDL 8.5Gb 240 minute dual layer) and it ejects it a few seconds later. the IDVD progress bar still runs as though it is burning just fine - its progress drops from 18 minutes all the way to "less than a minute" and then it hangs. even if i insert a different memorex disk, it still doesn't start actually burning it. it only burned the very first memorex disk i inserted successfully. i have tried disk utility to burn from a .dmg file copy of the original successfully burned disk, but disk utility can't burn onto the memorex disk either. maybe something wrong with the super drive? thanks for your ideas.

There is no proper substitute for iDVD.
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac?

    UPDATE & ADDENDUM:
But even though you can still buy iLife 11 that includes iDVD 7 from Amazon, Apple now make it difficult to install:
Poster jhb21939 posted this in another thread:
“when I attempted to load iDVD into a new iMac. A notice came up on the screen stating that the 'Authorisation Licence' had expired on 25 March this year (2012).
I contacted the Apple support team and eventually, I was told that the Licence had been withdrawn and could no longer be used.”
In other words Apple are now so adamant that we don’t use iDVD that they have tried to make it impossible to install.
In response, Old Toad posted this solution:
“You can still use it one all of your Macs.  If you get an invalid certificate message just set your Mac's clock to sometime before early 2011 and run the installer.  After you're done reset the time back to the correct time.” He added this comment:
“It began after iDVD and iWeb were discontued and they were dropped from the Apple Store. All I can think of is the certificate was set to expire after a certain time period after the intitial iLife disc was released.
I've been able to use the installer even without setting back the date.  I just clicked on the Continue button and it would work as expected.  For some it would not continue unless the date was set back.”
The latest anorexic iMacs just announced do not even include a CD drive! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of DVDs - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?
