Want to burn Internet Archive Tracks onto a CD, and put onto my iPod

I am a Grateful Dead fan, and I've been legally downloading tracks from the Internet Archives and importing them to iTunes. The track names show up, and I can listen to the music, but iTunes won't allow me to burn CDs of these tracks or put them onto my iPod. The message reads that they are not on my hard drive. How can I get these songs onto my hard drive? These tracks are free downloads. I'll post the link from a particular show if it will be helpful.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. It's very important to my wife and I to be able to listen to these songs. We were at many of these shows!

Jake - For that particular show, they are not downloads. They are simply links that allow you to stream the show. Note the indication on that page saying "This audio is available in streaming format." You can also notice the small size of the files. Actual song files would be many MB.

Try a different show on the same archive. For example look at this one from 1974:

Notice the file sizes are big enough to be actual songs! They offer in 3 formats, two of which are incompatible with iTunes, so unless you wish to convert make sure you download the MP3s. And the music will never stop...

    Hi,
Create a play list that you wish to burn. Select playlist, the file from main menu which gives to an option to burn the playlist. A pop up box appears allowing you to select burn speed and disc format.

  • Want to burn cd without track numbers

Using iTunes 9.2 I'm burning a series of mp3 disks. I do not have track numbers turned on in any display (music library or playlist). The mp3 CD I burn shows a track number before the title on the CD. Is there a way not to have the number burned?
Only other thing I can think of that might have some pertinence is that the playlist I'm burning is made up of tracks from imported CDs I own and albums bought in the iTunes store.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Never got an answer to this so I decided to close the question out.

  • I want to use music as background for home video and put it on facebook. How do I get permission to do that.

I want to put a song I purchased on i tunes and use it as background on a non comercial home video and put it on face book. How do I get permission to do that?

I can't answer this one but I imagine it would be a nightmare and expensive.  The companies that do that probably aren't scaled for such a thing and are more likely used to dealing with big contracts.  You might even have to do something such as provide evidence for how many times the music has been played -- something I suspect Facebook is not geared up for doing.
I guess if it's a small scale artist on their own private label you could ask the individual but it's a big time artist working with a record company then you'll have to deal with the record company or pay a company that works with them on licensing issues.

  • When openning itunes, I get a message saying I need to reinstall itunes if I want to burn cds. I already tried removing and installing lates itunes version but does not help. Does anybody know anything about fixing this issue?

I cannot burn cds from itunes. Every time I open itunes i get a message indicating i need to reinstall itunes. I have already done so but it's not working. I still cant burn cds. Does anybody know how i can fix this? My windows media player burns cds just fine.

I am having this same issue with Windows XP. The exact message that I get everytime that I open iTunes is :
The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers forimporting and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes. I have deleted and reinstalled iTunes three times. I also have a problem with iTunes randomly opening itself.

    Hi
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

What is the easiest way to burn my imovies onto DVD's?    I want to burn movies as I create them and then continue to add more movies to the same DVD as the years go by -- until the DVD is full!    Is this possible?

  • F I have burnt a playlist of mp3's to a CD and want to burn another one onto the same CD, will it overwrite the first one or add to the CD?

I know that mp3's take up less space, so I didn't realize I could've probably burnt a lot more files onto the CD. I burnt 10. I'd like to add more. Will it add them, overwrite what I already burnt or what? Just wondering before I do it. Thanks!
    [I'm using a PC with Windows 7]

If the disc is erasable then erase and burn all the tracks as desired. Audio CDs need to burned in one continuous action and the session closed. With data discs it may be possible to add to a previous session, but I don't know if iTunes supports that feature, and not every reader does which could be an issue.

I have downloaded a film and want to burn it onto a dvd disc, how do i do this so that it will play in most DVD players?
I am just inserting blank dvd and going into finder and trying to burn disc, it looks as if it burns however does not play on a dvd player!!
    please advise!
    thanks

    Buy iDVD.
Yes, there are other programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the substitutes.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD.
    http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/idvd.html
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.  (works with all Mac OS 10.5 and newer.)

I downloaded a movie from iTunes.  I wanted to burn a DVD of the movie which I could play on my home entertainment system.  After I had burned the DVD I tried to play the movie from it on the computer and got the message " You can't open the application mediaioserver because it may be damaged or incomplete".  What is this all about?  Are there settings I need to change?  PS: I tried to play the DVD on my home DVD player and it also doesn't work.  Help!

Klaus:  Does this mean that I can only watch this movie on my computer and ipad not on my home big screen system?

  • Want to burn MANY photos onto SEVERAL DVDs

I want to burn many photos on DVDs.  The size of all the photos is larger than a single DVD.
Is there a way I can choose the photos and start the process and just put in new DVDs as they are needed?  I can't put them all in one burn folder.
    Please help!

    Export the Photos from iPhoto
    File-> Export
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
Once in the Finder you can allocate them as you need.

  • Aaggghhhh......help me doctor..-I want to burn cd, am running out of disks!

I am going into itunes(8.2) music folder dragging tracks into burn folder, it goes through process of burning onto blank cdr but there is nothing on it when I put it into old cd player!
-i have destroyed several cdrs burning nuffink!
a friend said there is a dialogue box for burning standard cd but i can't find it-why is this happening, It did come up with a dialogue box for- to play on windows and mac -but I don't want it to play on computer just at home/car.
Also does 700mb disc not cover 700mb- only 80 minutes of musak?-do I need different media to put big file onto?

A exclamation mark next to an item means the file associated with that track cannot be found. When you get info (command + i) on the item it will present you with an option to track down that file and re-associate it with the item in the playlist.
If you are absolutely positive your AAC files are mp3 there are ways to get them to be recognized as mp3. However, you must have used a different encoder to do that and it must have been a poorly designed one to make such a basic error. I still think that you probably have duplicates of songs in your library in different formats. It is unlikely in the extreme that a mp3 would be identified as AAC unless you hand edited the file name in the Finder window to end in .aac instead of .mp3.
May I politely add that I am having problems following your posts without punctuation and full sentences and this may be causing me to misunderstand the specifics. I am also getting very brief statements that are making it very hard for me to follow exactly what is going on: "clik apple- i or- r and nothing happens, but they are mp3s not recognised in itunes as being mp3s and told they cannot be found! and that they are AAC files!" Do you truly mean nothing at all happens? Absolutely nothing at all, like your keyboard is dead? Additionally, you don't click on those. You select/highlight a single track then hold down the command key which is, depending upon the keyboard, has an apple on it, or a thing shaped like a propeller, or may have "command" written on it. At the same time you press the command key you press "i" to get info or "r" to reveal the location of the file associated with that track. If a file cannot be found then itunes won't recognize it as anything other than a name listing in the music library - it loses all the other information.
