Want to buy a new MacBookPro in NYC, but with Austrian (German) keyboard

I'm living in NYC right now, but will return to Austria next year. My old MacBook Broke, so I need to buy a new one.
Unfortunately we have 3 different characters, which are not existing on the US notebook ü, ë and ö. I would have no problem with the US keyboard, but i need these 3 characters without needing to use shortcuts all the time (eg alt129).
the option to buy it here with an us keyboard and change the keyboard setting to austrian language wouldn't work, as characters like ( ) / ? \ * and so on have a different position, which i don't know by heart esp. when switching btw. austrian and american keyboard all the time..
- Does anyone know a way to program just ü, ë and ö on the notebook?
- Can I buy a MacBook here with an Austrian Keyboard? (this option doesn't exist with online buying)
- Could I buy it in Austria and ship it here? Or c ould another person buy it and send it privately (i know this is a stupid question, but i couldn't find anything about the toll/custom duty regulations when buying a computer in the EU and ship it to the US)

What you can do is buy your laptop from any Apple Store, make an appointment with the Genius Bar and during this time, you can order any keyboard. It will take a few weeks for them to receive it, but when they do, you bring your computer back and they will install it (generally 24 hours). This service is free (at least in Canada), so it is the simplest way of getting an Austrian keyboard. Hope that helps!

Hello, I've tried Lion from the day they released to last week I got my computer formated and with leopard again, on my iMac 24" from early 2009 2.9 Ghz core 2 duo, and I have installed 8 Gb of memory, and i have some complains about it, there are some cosmetic issues but mostly I'm concerned about issues bellow the hood, as I'm a stock trader and I depend completly from my computer's performance, let me explain:
Superficial issues:
1. They took off "spaces" and I liked it.
2. I dont use the magic mouse, I need a more accurate mouse for my charts, and it seems they built the entire OS assuming you would use the magic mouse for gestures, scroll, etc to try to mimic in some way the Ipad and Iphone functions, but what if you arent using it like me?
3. I never used that little rocket icon that makes all your apps appear and that could be one of the "improvements on Lion", at first sight it looks nice and slick, but if you try to use it and make it part of your daily use, you would find it is useless, it is a pain to try to arrange it the way you like it, so I rather use the spotlight to search for my apps, its faster.
Now the MOST important, 'performance':
1. It completly suffocate my computers hardware Leopard much more lighter, beggining from the start up that taked almost 1/3 or twice the time, and I think Lion has some bugs bellow the hood, i was doing my normal stuff, some apps running and everything, and suddenly I started to feel the computer a little slow, safari taking forever to open the pages for example, and I opened the activity monitor to see what was going on, and it was there, I was using 4 or 5 gb from my memory, and CPU making insane peaks, and Im using 2.46 gb as im writing it doing exactly the same stuff, (but Im happily using Leopard now), and it wasnt once, as i told before, I used lion since the day they released it and happened several times until it drove me nutts. But leopard not problem in that regard at all, Never.

OK....you can do that. I would recommend the GSM version (AT&T), but you can buy it here and activate there. Lot's of people do.......

It's do-able, but I don't think it's a great idea.
DVI
Some users with DVI have managed to get their TV's to work with DVI-HDMI cables. DVI carries no audio, so alternative connections need to be explored to enable audio. DVI doesn't necessarily support HDCP as well as other standards used by HDMI (which may or may not be an issue)
Analogue
There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p (Apple TV 2), 720p/1080p (Apple TV 3)

Is the media already on the iPad? If not, iTunes purchases can be redownloaded if they are still available in iTunes. Non-iTunes purchases would need to be synced from iTunes on a computer. -

Thank, RicPrintopia is another option but be aware that since these solutions effectively act as a print server and AirPrint receiver, they require a computer to be running on the same WiFi network.
Canon also has a couple of apps in the App Store that might facilitate this on non-AirPrint printers. Check out...

I currently run the Design and Web Premium CS6 on a first generation MacBook Air and want to buy a new MacBook Pro. How do I know whether I can install my Adobe programs onto the new computer? Because I know there is some kind of limit.
Also, I had to install the software twice on my same computer before because I had to reboot the computer. I don't know if this affects the limit.You are allowed to have two activated installations so there should not be a problem having working installations on the two machines. If by chance you have somehow tied up two activations for the one machine you can have Adobe support help resolve that thru chat.

we are wanting to buy 2 new desktops .and want to see what u recomend is the best. we surf and do music, videos and picturs and play alot of the online games. we are wanting something that would be fast and a very good and reliable computer and hopefully not to expensive. we have not upgraded our computers in about 7 years and they are so slow. that is why we are looking into buying new ones thank you
If you are doing all that and don't want to upgrade every you might want to get something with a little power to is. I would Probably recommend something with a quad core processor and at least 6 GB of RAM. It might also be bennifical to get something with a dedicated graphics card and a larg hard drive. That being said something like the Gateway DX4300-11 or the HP p6230y would be fine, or if you really want something with extra power the HP Elite e9220y might serve you better.

I will mainly be using my new mac to edit videos on i movie, view & edit my photos, browse the internet and play a few newer games like Diablo 3 & starcraft 2. I really don't want to spend more than $2000 on my new computer so I don't know whether to get the 21.5" with 2.7GHZ and upgraded to 16GB of ram with warranty for bout $1900 or go for the 21.5" with 2.9GHZ and only the original 8GB of ram with warranty for about $1900 aswell. Load it with as much RAM as possible.
Unless you take it from an i5 to an i7 don't even bother looking at processor upgrade.

Is there any deal like this?Apple has a rebuy and recycle program, but you won't get much for your old MBP from that program. Your best bet is to just sell it yourself (I used eBay) and use the money you get to buy your new computer.

I realized I still had this as an open question, so I thought I would follow up. By calling around, I was able to locate a Macbook Pro that still had ILife 09, so I bought that.
But then I found out I could actually continue on with Ilife 08, but just wiping the new computer and reinstalling the first disc (system) but not the second one (ilife). So then when I used a Time Machine backup from my old computer to migrate to the new one, it simply continued on with O8. This made me even happier as I really was trying to avoid Faces in iPhoto 09.
