Want to change my main Itunes

I searched quite a few different topics and couldn't find anything to answer my particular questions, so sorry if they have been answered.
I have the video ipod, when i very first installed my itunes, i mistakenly put it on an XP account that has had problems with viruses and doesn't work very well. So in additon to the itunes on that account, I have also added songs to my ipod from several other itunes on different computers. I want to change it so that my main itunes (the one where i can make playlists) is on a different account of my computer. I tried moving all of my songs to a shared folder but I couldn't get everything to work out...
So basically, I want to change my main itunes to a different account, and be able to have all of the songs from my ipod on that Itunes library. If I can figure out how to change my main itunes, and copy all my songs from my ipod onto the itunes playlist, that would be perfect.
Also...I keep my ipod in my car 90% of the time and play it through my stereo with a plug-in. Since it is constantly recharging in my car, I usually just leave it on...could that potentially be bad for it?
Any responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi
There are possibly simpler ways to do what you want, but one thing I can suggest (in case no one else offers any tips) is to download one of the many freeware applications that have been created to allow you to transfer songs from your iPod to your computer. You could then simply install iTunes on the computer/account you want to use, hook up the iPod, run the app. and then transfer all the songs from your iPod to your new iTunes library.
If there are some songs on the various accounts that aren't on your iPod, then set the iPod to disk mode and use it as an external hard drive to copy those extra songs and carry them to the computer/account you have now set your main library on.
After that, just delete all the other iTunes libraries (on different comps/accounts) that you don't want.
See the first few results from this google search to find the relevant application:
As for your second question, I don't know for certain but my guess would be that it won't be damaging to your iPod, but for caution's sake you might like to ensure you turn it off for an 8 hour period every few weeks.

  • How do I change my main iTunes computer from a PC to a Mac?

I just want to repost this so that it won't look like it's answered.  It's not
I recently bought a Mac, to replace my PC.  I have a 2nd generation iPod running the latest (4.3.3 I think).  I have transfered all my files from my Windows to my Mac through USB, and all the files are also sitting on my Mac.  However, when I insert my iPod to the Mac, it can't sync apps without erasing the data on my iPod.  How do I do it without erasing it?  I have it backed up on my Mac and PC.  I also have a brother with a 4th generation iPod.  I assume the solution would be the same?  Thanks!!

When all the music, apps and other items are on the new computer:
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clciking n the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
The backup that iTunes makes does not include music, apps and other things.

  • My Alias Email Isn't an Option From Drop-Down + I Want to Change my Main Email Acct

Unfortunately phone support linked me here, so I hope to get a response.
    Issue 1:
I have a main Apple ID which also serves as my main email account. Under this account, I have an alias. This alias does NOT show up under the drop-down options when sending mail from my MBP Mail app or iPhone 4.
    Issue 2:
I do NOT want to use my Apple ID as my main email account. I want to replace it with my alias, (from issue 1). How can I do that?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but this is what's happening:
    In Mail, Contacts, Calendarts>Add Account
    Add a MobileMe or Other?
If I choose MobileMe, it asks for my MobileMe account. If I enter that info, it tells me I already have that account set up, which I do.
So I clicked the Create Free Apple ID button on the same screen, below.
This goes to a New Apple ID page
    I enter location and DOB
This goes to a New Apple ID page
I enter all of the information as required, then click Done
    I get an error:
    Cannot Create Apple ID
If you have an @me.com email address, sign in using your MobileMe password
This takes me back to where I started without a solution.

  • I want to change my american Itunes account into a German account. Got another problem forgot my password

Who might help me with my problem??!! I got this problem since 4 year...

To turn your american Apple ID into a german, just open iTunes, click on "iTunes Store" and sign in. Then scroll down to the end of the page. In the bottom right corner there should be a flag. Click on that flag and then choose "Germany" as your country.
If you forgot your password, just go to http://iforgot.apple.com/ and follow the steps.

  • Can I backup and restore on a new computer without changing my main iTunes computer?

I just got AT&T to unlock my iPhone so that I can use it on multiple networks while I am traveling.  In order to complete the unlock, I must backup and restore the iPhone on my iTunes.  Unfortunately, my iMac that I use to sync my iPhone is being shipped across the planet and I won't have it for about a month.  Is it possible to install iTunes on a new computer and conduct a backup and restore, without losing anything on the iPhone and still be able to sync with my iMac when I receive it?

Thanks for the clear and concise response  ;-)
Anything in particular I need to be aware of?  i.e. after I install iTunes on the new PC and connect my iPhone, do I need to do anything specific to ensure that the phone is not overwritten?  Is it that simple that I can just connect the phone and it will back it up, then I do a restore and done?  (Sorry but based on all the discussion threads I've read around this, I am skeptical that it is that simple.)

  • How do i change my default itunes library

I want to change the default itunes liibrary so that I can access my other library without going thru a lot of key strokes using the shift key.  Actually, that no longer appears to be working.  How do I accomplish taht?

The only limit is that of the device. No restrictions on how much of it you can use for music. Is part of your music library unchecked?

I want to change my main Apple ID email , cause soon will not use old one. But i don't want to create new Apple ID. Is it possible just to change email and not to lose Apple ID in general? Also not to lose all iCloud features that i have with my Apple ID.

You can update your primary email address on your account, and you shouldn't lose any of its content by doing so : Change your Apple ID

I got an iPhone 4 a week ago. I synced my iTunes once and now I want to change what albums and playlists are on my phone. When I try to do this, iTunes threatens to remove all my apps. Of course, Apple's support is no help. I know there has to be a way to add and remove whole albums and playlists like on the music tab on the device, so please don't tell me to uncheck/delete everything from my iTunes that I don't want and re-sync. That is not helpful and not the issue. How do I get around it threatening to remove all my apps?

On the MacBook, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Advanced > Disable remote control

  • PC died and in turn my main iTunes library. iPhone was synced to it. Now when I try to connect to another library it tells me the phone must be wiped clean before I can manage music with new library. Any way around that? Don't want to lose music.

My PC died and in turn so did my main iTunes library.  My iPhone was synced to the library that is gone.  Now when I try to connect to another library, it tells me the phone must be wiped clean before I can manage music with new library.  Any way around that?  I don't want to lose the music that is on my phone.  I am looking for a way to tell the phone to "forget" the old library and let me start working with a new library.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone.  Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos, etc) , your contacts and your calendars.  So do NOT sync yet.  This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data.  Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync.  They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup.

  • I want to change the country of my itunes account but I do not have a credit card of the country

I had my account registered in the itunes store and has changed the store from Japan to UK.
I also had some apps downloaded in the Japan itunes store and I am not able to update these apps.
I want to change my account back to the Japan store since I want to update these apps without wiping the application data.
I have tried changing the country/region under the account session, but it will not let me unless I put in credit card information, which I do not possess.

  • I have 2 Apple ID's with separate e-mails.  I want to change my iTunes to the same e-mail as my iPhone.  Any suggestions?

I have 2 Apple ID's, one attached to my iTunes account, and one attached to my iPhone.  I want to change both to the same e-mail/Apple ID. any ideas on how I can do this without losing any info (contacts, songs, videos, etc.)?

Why would you create a new account?
All purchases will be tied to the account from which they were purchased.
You will have to authorize your computer for all the accounts from which music is purchased.
