Want to create mac to windows wireless connection

i want to create mac to windows wireless connection. i go to airport, then create computer-to-computer wireless. after the windows machine sees my network but cannot connect. tell me how to go about it cos i need to share stuffs with a friend.

Can't create a WPA2-Enterprise wireless connection; missing Microsoft: PEAP

If I try to build the wireless connection manually and choose WPA2-Enterprise, then click next, I get 'An unexpected error occurred.' and no options to configure; just close.
I then tried to create a Preshared Key WPA2 connection. This worked fine. When I go to edit the connection, I have the ability to select the WPA2-Enterprise options, however in the list of Network Authentication methods (under Security Tab), I don't have
the Microsoft: PEAP or SmartCard options. I only have Cisco: LEAP,PEAP,EAP-FAST and Intel: EAP-SIM,EAP-TTLS,EAP-AKA (6 entries).
It's my theory that because the Microsoft options are missing, the wizard gets the unexpected error. I'm wondering how I get the MS ones back.

Mac Pro Drops Wireless Connection to Airport Extreme

I have a Mac Pro and every time I leave the machine for several hours when I return the Airport signal strength indicator is blank and I have to re-choose my network name to get back on the network.
As background, my Mac Pro is setup to never go to sleep as it is hosting some web sites, the only thing that sleeps is the display, so I don't think it is any kind of issue on wake from sleep . . . it just drops the signal at some point.
Has anyone ever heard of this kind of issue? It has always been this way and I just moved my Mac Pro to a location in my house where a wired connection is no longer feasible so I really want to try and resolve it... THANKS

While Apple has a good "troubleshooting networking" the Mac Pro using Wireless has had more of its own. I would pick up a Netgear router, go wired.

Macbook Windows wireless connectivity issue

It happed that the mac book I was connected to he Linksys wireless router and at the same time i turned on the windows machine and it just didnt get an IP. I did all sorts of troubleshooting issues on the windows machine. Nothing worked. All of a sudden I thought is the mac connectivity giving some issue so i turned off the macbook airport off and immediatly after that the windows machie got an IP.
What could be the problem ??

if you set it to the most compatible with the least common denominator you should be able to connect with both. (If that's what I understand you are trying to achieve).

Mac mini intermittent wireless connection to a DI-524 wireless router

My friend just got his first Mac, it is a 2.0 Core 2 Duo with Nvidia graphics and 1 GB ram. We have ahd lots of problems but the most troubling is the wireless connection, it connects to a DLink DI-524 router, it connects with full bars, some times it self assigns IP address, other times it connects gets and IP, connects to the internet and then stops working a few minutes latter. The bars for signal are all ways full regardless of problems, any help would be appreciated .
For information both of our iPhones and his laptop have no problems connecting, and staying connected.

problem seems to be with the WPA2 implementation, switch off WPA2 to nothing works no problem, moved it to WPA seems to be ok.

I Mac and lost wireless connection

Hi...I have a 2.5 year old IMac and pretty much since we purchased it, we haven't had a strong stable connection with the wireless router. We figured it was the router and had Comcast come check. It was ok. We recently purchased a latptop (not apple) and have absolutely no issues connecting to the router. We never lose the connection. Totally opposite to the Mac. Has anyone else had this experience? I'm hoping that there is a simple solution. Would love to be able to have a great connection with the IMac.

A good starting point would be to install something like iStumber or Kismac on your iMac. This will let you check what your mac is seeing for signal strength.

This will help determine if it is perhps a hardware issue, interference from something in your environment, other networks, etc.
Where is your router situated? Where is the iMac situated? Have you tried moving either?

If you haven't tried already, create a new user account on the iMac or enable the guest account. Same problems? If not it may be related to something you have running in your profile.
If you are using a wireless 'g' router, wireless g users should only use channels 1,6, or 11. These channels are the only three channels with no overlap. What channel is your router on?

Problem: I can use my Mac (today) to wirelessly connect to my iPhone personal hotspot but my Windows computer doesn't see the hotspot in available networks.
Background: My personal hotspot would work for a while then drop out. I upgraded to iOS 6.0.1 Monday morning, and Monday evening a friend with Windows 7 could connect to my hotspot but I could not wirelessly connect the Mac to the hotspot. I went through all the troubleshooting: restored network settings, closed apps, restarted services, rebooted, verified AT&T still had me on a tethering plan - the only thing that fixed it was a complete restore, however my Windows XP computer still can't see it. It can see and connect to other networks. I upgraded the network adapter driver, rebooted, repaired the wireless network connection, released/renewed all ip addresses, and confirmed with Intel that the adapter supports WPA/WPA2. It can see and connect to other wireless networks.
This Apple Support KB article says I should be able to use the hotspot via wifi with "A device with Wi-Fi with support for WPA/WPA2 encryption," however the Apple tech support supervisor I spoke with today said the hotspot only works wirelessly with Windows 7 and Vista.

Try the following:
o If you are running wireless encryption on the Time Capsule (TC) temporarily disable it. Can the PC connect wirelessly now?
o If the PC is still unable to connect with encryption disabled, try changing the default radio mode from "802.11n (b/g compatible)" to "802.11g only." You can access this mode by holding down the Ctrl key before making the selection in the AirPort Utility.

HP Officejet 6500A Plus will not maintain wireless connection reliably

For the HP EXPERTS on Expert Day, April 18, 2012:
B.L.A.T. (Bottom Line At Top): We have an HP Officejet 6500A Plus purchased about 5 months ago. We wanted to use it as a wireless-connected printer in another room besides our home office. It is useless to us because it will not maintain its wireless connection, even sitting just a few feet from the router in the same room. Except for numerous hours of troubleshooting, we have left it sitting powered up, but unused and idle, for almost the entire 5 months in our home office. DURING ALL THAT IDLE TIME, IT HAS LOGGED OVER 3,200 DISCONNECTS, at a consistent rate of 24 disconnects every 24 hours, even though it ALWAYS reports that the wireless signal quality is “EXCELLENT” (all this is according to the Wireless Network Test Reports we’ve printed throughout the last 5 months). So our question is, what is it that this printer is trying to do once an hour over a wireless connection that is causing these thousands of disconnects? And how can we stop it?
NOTE! Before you round up the usual suspects (namely our router and our PC firewalls) please note that we also bought an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus ON THE SAME DAY as the Officejet 6500A Plus. The 8600 was also installed with a wireless connection, and has worked without a single network issue for the entire 5 months.
NOW, FOR THE REST OF THE STORY…
WHO WE ARE: My wife and I have worked on HP equipment for 33 years, starting in 1979 as corporate customers of HP when we worked for Exxon; then we both worked for HP directly for 17 years; and we’ve now used dozens of pieces of HP equipment in our home during the last 12 years in retirement. We’re primarily software folks, so we’re not exactly experts in hardware and networking, but on the other hand, this ain’t our first rodeo either.
OUR CONFIGURATION:
PC’s – All running Windows 7 x64 with all important patches applied and Norton Internet Security 2012: HPE-270f and HP AIO 200-Quad, each with full 6500A and 8600A drivers installed on wireless connection. These 2 PC’s themselves can connect either wirelessly or via Ethernet to our home network. The 270f has a dual-band wireless board. Both bands work. We also have a new dv7t laptop with only the full 6500A driver installed via wireless connection. The laptop is now upstairs and it’s connected to our home network wirelessly without any issues. (This is where we had hoped to also put the 6500A, but it needs to work reliably via wireless connection.)
ROUTER: Netgear N600 WNDR3700 providing Ethernet and wireless networking. Router provides a very strong wireless signal throughout the house. No wireless problems with any other equipment including an iPod, two Kindle Fires besides all the HP equipment.
PRINTERS: Besides the two HP printers, the HPE-270f PC has a Canon MP960 installed on it. And if we can’t get the 6500A working right or replaced with something that does work right, we may be buying our second Canon printer. By the way, on the 6500A, ePrint and App’s are set to ON, but of course they’re not being used, just like everything else on this AIO.
OTHER: We also have a Sonos music system that connects to our network via Ethernet and has its own proprietary mesh network (on another frequency) for transmitting ripped music wirelessly to speaker units throughout our house. (If you aren’t familiar with this totally cool system, check out sonos.com). We’ve never seen any evidence of interference between these two wireless networks, or our wireless phone sets either.
HP TOOLS AVAILABLE ON ALL 3 PC’s: HPU
UPDATE 5.003.001.001 (reporting everything up-to-date); HPHDU 3.1.0.17; HPPDU 5.0.0.015 and HPNDU 4.3.0.002.
SYMPTOMS: The 6500A Plus installs quickly and easliy, and connects wirelessly just fine during installation. But sometime over the next hour (usually less), it disconnects and won’t print from PC applications. Sometimes the application puts up an “Unable to communicate with printer” screen, even though the PC usually thinks the printer is “ready”. Other times, the PC thinks the printer is offline (but printers don’t have “offline” buttons anymore!). Often, if you just leave everything alone, the 6500A will somehow reconnect and print out the spooled file 5-30 MINUTES later. So it does usually seem to be able to recover given some time, but that doesn’t always fit our schedule! Occasionally, turning the wireless radio on the printer off and back on will fix it right away. But usually, you have to power the printer completely off, and then back on. As far as we know, that always fixes it…..until the next disconnect a few minutes later!
PREVIOUSLY TRIED: After reading some of HP’s wireless network support websites, I manually assigned a fixed IP address to this printer. It didn’t seem to matter; according to the wireless network test report, it still logs disconnects at the rate of one per hour, and all the failure symptoms were the same.
We also dabbled a bit with setting this printer as “trusted” to the Firewall, but that didn’t seem to matter either.
Next, we connected the printer via Ethernet. The printer immediately started to work, even though it had just been in its “failed” state over the wireless connection. As far as we know, it never failed while connected via Ethernet. This seems to point to a purely wireless hardware/firmware problem on the printer itself.
Late last year, I tried two different chat sessions about this with the inter-continental AIO support teams, each one lasting several hours. Unfortunately, none of their optimistic solution scripts seemed to fit our problem. They both seemed determined to reconfigure the 6500A as a TCP/IP printer, which of course worked fine initially, just like everything else. At this point, they would understandably want to close the chat. But 20-30 minutes later, we could no longer print to it. During the second chat, they got into one of our PC’s remotely and effectively turned off the spooler (by selecting “Print Directly” or something like that). After that, all was well again (as usual) UNTIL the printer disconnected, at which time attempting to print from that PC would HANG the application (since the spooler was no longer buffering) and eventually hang the whole PC. One giant leap backwards. That’s when I gave up on the multi-hour chat sessions.
The three diagnostic utilities (HDU, PDU, NDU) have been tried over and over. When the printer is in its disconnected state, the DU’s usually don’t detect the 6500A at all, or if they do detect it, they are unable to fix anything. Frankly, it’s easier to just power the printer off (which takes about a minute) and power the printer back on (which takes more than a minute) and then wait for the spooler to kick in (usually about 30 seconds). BUT WE DON’T CONSIDER THAT A SOLUTION!!
B.L.A.B. (Bottom Line At Bottom): We have used up nearly the entire black ink cartridge and at least a ream of paper troubleshooting this brand new printer, to no avail. This printer is useless to us unless it can maintain a wireless connection reliably. Please help!

I bought the Officejet 6500A Plus about one month and have experienced the very same problem. I tried to remedy this problem following suggestions in a number of different posts (static IP, router, firewalls etc), all to no avail. Last week I called support. The support I received by the tech over several hours and different days for a week was very good. However none of his suggestions corrected the connection issue. After today's recommended fix failed, he advised HP is aware of this issue with the 6500 and other affected printers. He claimed HP was working on a firmware upgrade. He did not know when the update would be provided. The tech also claimed HP acknowledged this problem in a written announcement. He agreed to email the announcement to me. I haven't received it. This has been the only problem I've had with the 6500

Help wirelessly connecting Time Capsule to AEBS

Hello All,
Here's the situation I'm facing:
I just bought a Time Capsule which I've hooked up to my cable modem/internet connection. I still have my old Airport Extreme, and would like to continue using that in another room (wirelessly). I do not care to increase the signal coverage of my wireless network, but only want to use the additional LAN ports on my AE. Basically, I'd like to use the LAN ports to connect my DVR (on-demand programming) and X360 to the internet. Neither device has a wireless card, so extending my network doesn't do anything for me.
Now, I've tried two different avenues to accomplish this. First, I set up a WDS network with the TC being the main, and the AE being the remote. While i was successful in setting this up, the network's speed came to a screeching halt. Average web pages would take almost a minute to load. Not satisfied with that, I tried setting my TC as a new wireless network, and my AE as an extended network. This too worked, and with greater speed, but i found some computers in my house insisted on connecting to the AE, which being somewhat far from the TC, didnt have the perfect connection.
So that leaves me here. Basically, what I'm hoping to do is the following. Have the TC connected to my cable modem with ALL wireless devices in the house connected to it. Then, have the AE wirelessly connected to the TC, and only have wired devices connected to the AE. I do not want the AE to accept ANY wireless connections. Is this possible? Can the AE reject all incoming wireless connections, while sending out its own to the TC? Any help would be appreciated. If you can describe the settings I'll need to use (WDS, Extend, etc. etc.), I'll be very grateful. Thanks so much!

Another option that would require the investment of 100$ would be to get an Airport Express AX), hardwire that to your Time Capsule (TC), and then use Airport Utility to create a separate wireless network with your AX that your Airport Extreme (AE) could then join from wherever you want to put it in your house. By doing this, you get optimal network speeds from both the TC wireless network AND the AX/AE network. Now, if you want to connect ALL your wireless devices to the TC, you simply set them up to join only the TC network; you don't allow ANYTHING to join the AX/AE network by securing it with a password and/or creating a closed network that devices wouldn't readily "see". This option is especially good for your if all your devices are 802.11n, but even if they're not, I think you'll find it gives you the most flexibility. Good luck.

Creating a nav window to find apps

I'm writing an application which needs to be able to chose an application to send a file to. I want to create a nav window ( NavCreateChooseObjectDialog) which will let the user chose a .app file (folder). I would LIKE to be able to make it so that it will only highlight apps that can open image files (PDF, TIFF, JPEG).
I assume that all of this takes place in the FilterProc, but currently, I have a filterproc which always returns true, and it doesn't let me select applictation files. Is there something special I need to do to select an app file?

You can use the Blank widget under Compositons to creat this effect.
To make it work, just place all your information inside the Target box and also add any
type to the trigger box, to have the user close the window, just create a small close box or close text image (also inside the Target box and hyperlink it back to the page your on.
Note: marking the Close Button radio button in the Option-Parts Panal seems to only work when you select Lightbox under the position dropdown menu,
which I don't think is the effect your looking for.

Is it necessary to create a seperate window for a pop up view? I don't want to create a seperate window for a pop up view. As I don't want to make much changes in the present program logic.
My only problem is following code. This code finds out the window. So I have to create a seperate window for a seperate pop up view.
I am wondering if there is any API or the same API which can allow me to call the view instead of window

Flip 4 mac, QT, Windows midea player, which one?

Hi, I have the latest QT and VLC, I got VLC to view .wmv files, but it turns out it wont play them as they are .wmv3 file, i'm now looking at downloading flip 4 mac (new intel vertion) or windows meda player, but the thing is, where will it end? is there a do all application that can play nearly every thing or do i have to have 3 different ones, just incase????? any help would be awesome, cheers.

You probably want Flip 4 Mac as Windows Media Player is not an application built to utilize the Intel chip (or universal as they say).
Sorry, I don't know of a play all formats Media Player.

Go to device manager , Right click on Ur network adapter Which one u are using .
go to properties.
go to advanced.
under advanced select - Property as network media..and select value or decrease the value slightly..to 10BaseT ,
which is alos known as , Decreasing ur LAN card speed.
click ok .
Reboot ur Computer.
check n try pinging again .
