Want to deactivate a line but was told I wold lose Grandfathered.

I recently called Verizon wanting to deactivate a line. It happens to be a dumb phone and is no longer needed in the plan. The phone is basic, no data, no current contract, just a simple phone. I was told that if I dropped the phone from the plan and deleted the line, I would lose Unlimited Data and would be forced into the Share plan. I haven't heard of anyone getting this, only when upgrading. Did I just get a some dud in the service department or is this true?

Thought it might have been an old plan.  Will canceling the line mean that you are only left with your line?  That's the only issue I could see ... if you have two lines and cancel one, then you'd be switched to an individual plan.  But I think there's others who've done that and were switched to a Nationwide individual plan, unless I'm remembering incorrectly.
