You can't merge Apple IDs. You also can't cancel (delete) and existing ID, you can only choose to stop using it.
If your old ID was compromised and you can no longer access it, you'll have to contact Apple for assistance. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services' at the bottom of the page. In the next page click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then then 'Apple ID account Security’.

Yes, it's a POP account. I kinda thought that the old messages would be safe in mailboxes "On My Mac," but since it's an irrevocable choice, I was reluctant to pull the trigger. However, the suggestion above from keg55 relieves my concerns on that score; I'll make a backup copy before I delete the account just to be on the safe side.

OK that's what Ithought you were talking about.
You can't actually delete an old Apple ID. You just sign into the new ID to use that one. Your old ID must be popping up because you used it in the past to purchase content with it. You cannot transfer purchases from one Apple ID to another Apple ID. You have to continue to use the old ID if you want to update content that was used to purchase with that ID.
Did you sign into your new account in the settings and you can't stay signed in?

Bad idea.
What information do you want to share, exactly? You can share contacts, reminders, and calendars with other iCloud users without the need for both of you to use the same iCloud account. You can authorize both phones to use apps purchased under the same Apple ID without sharing an iCloud account.
Sharing an iCloud account is a bad idea in general. There is too much opportunity for someone to damage or delete data that will affect both.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only wipe your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.

No, you can stop using the account, but you cannot delete it.

If you have iCloud and/or iTunes accounts just sign out of them (however iTunes Store purchases cannot be transferred to a different account). You can create a new ID at http://appleid.apple.com - you will need a different non-Apple email address.
However if you've forgotten the password to the original account, go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with your iCloud login. A new password will be sent to your associated email address. If this doesn't work you will have to contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com; click' See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'

Are you saying you have a previously owned iPhone that is still Activation Locked to the previous user?
if so, that user must release the iPhone. Until that happens, the iPhone will remain Activation Locked and useless to you.

If you updated your existing iTunes account then those apps will be linked to the updated version of your account (you may need to log out of your account on your iPad and then log back in for the account to be refresged on your iPad). If you created a new account then they will remain tied to your old account, and only that old account will be able to re-download them and download updates to its apps.

I have bought an used iPhone from a retail store. They have forgotten to detach their iCloud account from the phone, and I realized it today. I have tried contacting them, but they have disappeared, and now I'm stucked on their Cloud. Furthermore, I have taken a backup from this device, and brought this backup to my new iPhone, and this cloud storage went there, so now I have 2 iPhones, with unused iCloud account. Yes, the restoration of the backup for my new device was a faliure of mine, but my question is,
who do i have to arrenge, to delete this account? The retail shop, where the iPhone (used one) came from has disappeared or gone bankrupt or I dont know where they are, so i can't figure out the code without their help.
Any help would be a pleasure.

Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone.
When you say they disappeared, do you mean the whole retail store.

Yes, just go to Settings>App and iTunes store and sign out of existing ID and sing into the other.
The Apple ID is also used in:
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>iCloud
- Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Note:
- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

The title says it all. I use my parent's account for my iTunes on my laptop currently, and I would like to make my own Apple account. My question is if I will still be able to use the applications and games that I downloaded [purchased] while using this computer. You can't delete an account, only iTunes Support can potentially do so, but you would lose all of the account's purchases if they do so - all downloads are tied to the account that downloaded them, they cannot be transferred to another account.
If you do create a new account then there are instructions on this page of how to do so without giving credit card details : Create an iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store account without a credit card or other payment method.
