Want to export movie so people can watch without downloading quicktime

I've made a friend a movie but she wants to watch it on her computer without downloading quicktime...what can I export the movie in so that people do not have to download quicktime.

another, 'internal' option is:
in iMovie: share/Export using Quicktime
select in the drop-down mpeg4
click option
select in the drop-down h.264
select a resolution
select a bit-rate according this resolution, example: 1280x720 should be at last 6000 kbps ...
such a h264.mp4 is fully compatible with Windows based systems of the last 4-5 years, or Linux, or on mediaplayers such as XBox or Playstation3, or Android phones, or ... etc ...
keep in mind: long project, large resolution, high bitrate = file sizes of 50, 100, 500 MBs or even more!
the upload-to-YouTube-option is imho the most convenient way.
YT allows in its settings to make uploads 'private', so not the whole world is laughing about your attemps of skiing but just your invited friends and family ...

If films are available in your country's iTunes store then you can buy and download them via the iTunes store app on your iPad, and they will download into the Videos app (or you can buy them via iTunes on your computer and then sync them to your iPad). As long as the films have been fully downloaded then you should be able to watch them in the Videos app whilst the iPad is offline.

  • Export movie "0000" suffix - can we change it?

Hi there! Working on a project for work and the programmer's asking me to save the frame numbers with double digits instead of flash's default 4. I've been searching in preferences and in the export movie menu but can't seem to find a way to change the frame suffix. Is there any way to modify the way flash saves the frame numbers?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    -Steve Macintyre

there is a way but you need to edit a settings file outside the ide.  you're probably better off not renaming them, at all.
i can't think of any reason a programmer would have any more trouble padding file names to 4 digits vs 2 digits.  i don't know what language your programmer is using but it's simple to do in actionscript, javascript, php, perl, asp and probably every other programming language:
    function padNumToString(n:int):String{
    var s:String=n.toString();
    while(s.length<4){
    s="0"+s;
    return s;

You can't. Movies are sold on a one-time only download. You would have been reminded to back them up at the time of purchase, unless you had previously opted to supress such reminders.

  • Convert / refund iTunes bought movies so I can watch them in WMC or WMP?

I've decided to move all of my media out of iTunes simply because I don't care for all the controls to keep people using iApple stuff to play iTunes purchased media.
I'm thinking I'm just screwed here but as a perfect example of why I'm doing this, I have a few movies (luckily not many) that I purchased in the iTunes store a few years back...can't play them on or in anything non-Apple.
Anyway to convert these or get a refund for them so I can play or re-purchase them (elsewhere) to play on Windows Media Center or Windows Media Player?
    Thanks!

    I call that BS!
I merely saved the shipping on these if I compare prices with Amazon...Their format should then be burnable on DVD players that can be played off the computer and on other devices. Limit access to the rentals, but limiting the purchased ones is taking apple customers for a ride, only to get more cash out of them....
And for that reason most people prefer to buy movies on DVD. They are easily shared, foolproof, and super easy to use. I love Apple TV and iTunes for music and TV shows, but I would never purchase a movie that was not on an optical disc.
When I head out-of-town I can grab a couple of DVDs to watch on my new MacBook Pro during the flight. Easy and uncomplicated.
DVDs offer another advantage. You can watch your movie without depending upon a complicated and delicate infrastructure. Also, movies are frequently censored for political correctness (Star Wars is a recent example).  Despite public pressure for a release, the Disney movie “Song of the South” remains banned.  Even cartoons like Johnny Quest are now censored.  Only people who purchased physical copies years ago have them as they were originally produced.

  • I downloaded two movies to watch on plane but could not watch because on airplane mode and no wifi. How do I get then to iPad so I can watch without iTunes?

I downloaded two movies from I tunes and tried to watch on airplane. It would not let me because in airplane mode. How do I get movies to I pad so I can watch on plane without wifi.  I have a new iPad air

You did try tapping on one of them in that list in the iPod app! This has happened to me and I was able to start the movie from there. You could try restarting the iPad, go into the iPod app and try again.
Now I'm stumped unless it is a corrupt download. You did download right onto the iPad - correct? If you downloaded in iTunes, there is a Move tab or function that you have to select to transfer the movies to the iPad when you sync. They just don't sync over without selecting move.

  • Exporting movs that clients can reliably open in iMovie

    Hi guys,
I've had a read on the iMovie forum, and posted this topic there to no avail yet.
I run a video transfer operation, and just recently I've had a rash of Mac owning clients saying that they cannot import the .mov files I give them in iMovie.. I use FCP6, and export self contained .Movs using Export>Quicktime Movie & ticking the Self Contained box. I know a mistake has not been made at my end sending Reference Movies because the client can open them in quicktime player on their machine.
So all of a sudden after 5 years of doing this job, 3 Mac clients in the last month have come back to me unable to open Movs..
I don't know what is going on.. It seems pretty basic that iMovie should import .Movs (an Apple container) and I know it supports DV.. Is this some new thing?
I know iMovie used to like .dv files, but is that now a rule? That it cannot import .Movs?
I'm not sure of the versions of iMovie the clients have.. I've sent out a request to ask them..
I cannot understand this - I was wondering of this might be some problem with the newer versions of iMovie.. I mean I have no problem opening the files in iMovie at my end. But I need to be able to consistently deliver files my Mac based clients can open. If FCP can't do this then what hope is there?
Believe it or not I have less trouble (read zero) supplying my Windoze clients! (Workflow = FCP>Reference Movie>Mpeg Streamclip>AVI)
    Any help appreciated..
    Pete

Most of my clients send in old analog videos Shane, so in most cases it's standard def stuff..
Will .dv specifically be a loss in quality? Will a .dv made in compressor be any cleaner than one sent out using Quicktime Conversion?
It still puzzles me that in tons of cases in the past my clients were able to open the .movs (DV PAL) no problems..

  • When streaming a movie file, what setting do I use on firefox so that I can watch the same website movie later in the day without downloading it again? thanks.

I'm not sure if it has something to do with a download setting or adjusting the size of the cache?

Media files that are streamed are never saved on your computer.<br />
Flash video (.flv) files are played by a SWF video player that downloads the FLV file.

  • How do I save a project so that I can watch it using QuickTime? (iMovie 10.0)

Just updated from an older version now that I am running Mavericks.
I am a teacher and edit inappropriate content from video so that my classes can still watch them. In the past I have always 'exported' my projects which enabled them to be viewed in QuickTime.
Now, I can only share as a file, and I can't get the movie to open in QuickTime.
    Please help!

    Hello iPIZ,
It sounds like you are trying to export your iMovie project as a QuickTime file.  The steps in the following article will guide you in creating a QuickTime file of your iMovie project:
    Export a QuickTime file
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/#move6e0cb2ad
The file name will immediately appear in Finder, but you won't be able to play the video until the video completes the export.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Sheila M.

  • How to export movies with Single Field option on with QuickTime Pro?

    Hi,
I've got a rather problematic video file with MJPEG encoding in it. I've been able to save the original AVI into another QuickTime mov-file. Where I thought the deinterlace would help me to get rid of the horizontal lines in the picture, that option didn't work this time. Instead, if I use the Single Field option, I get at least a smooth picture.
But when I try to export this to another mov-file or any other format for a smaller file size, I never get the smooth picture to stay. And in the resulting files the interlace "effect" can't be removed even with that single field on again!
    I'm using QuickTime Pro 7.6.6.
    Anybody with a solution?

Where I thought the deinterlace would help me to get rid of the horizontal lines in the picture, that option didn't work this time. Instead, if I use the Single Field option, I get at least a smooth picture.
It's my understanding that these QT 7 Pro options are "playback only" property settings utilized by the QT Player and do do not have any effect on the export/re-compression of interlaced content. Have you tried exporting directly to a progressive codec option/setting in QT 7 Pro, tried the motion adaptive deinterlacer in MPEG Streamclip (free) or the JES Deinterlacer (free), or used the "decomb" filter option in HandBrake (free) to see if any of these approaches are more suited to your needs?

  • I gifted a specific movie in HD, can the recipient download this movie in SD?

I gifted The Fall in HD to a friend. The recipient of the gift received it and downloaded it without knowing that his computer does not play HD movies. In the past, I've been able to download SD versions of HD things I've purchased - can he download the SD version of this movie? If so, how?

Here's what I've found.  Mind you, this mentions for the purposes of syncing to an iOS device, but that part can be ignored:
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. You can download the latest version for free here.
    Open iTunes on your computer.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
Navigate to your Purchased page. Find it by clicking Movies or TV Shows from the top navigation bar in the iTunes Store, and then click Purchased from "QUICK LINKS" in the iTunes Store.
Choose the appropriate video type: Movies or TV Shows.
In the lower-right corner of the screen, deselect the box next to "Download HD When Available."
Search for the desired video and click the download button.
This should download the standard definition version to your computer so you can sync to your device.

  • How do I maketotally custom e-mails that everyone can see without downloadi

I run a website made on iweb. It is http://Ostyn-Newman.com I send out periodic annoucements to several hundred clients announcing new products on the site. I currently use IPhoto to process photos and send them via e-mail from that application. They open new messages in Mail 1.3.11 This works fairly well and almost all of the recipients automatically see the photos and text without having to download them. Everyone except AOL reciepients that is. I segregate them out and send their messages directly from my webmail program.
This is fine and dandy except I really want to send more customized messages. I have tried making a page in Pages and saving it as a PDF and attaching to the messages instead of using the IPhoto method. This doesn't really work as most recipients have to download it to view it and then it is often a different size than I intend.
What I want to do is to make a killer looking announcement (that looks basically like an IWeb page with hyperlinks and all) that all recipients can instantly view without having to download and has all of the custom colors, fonts, links etc. that I want to put in. I know it is possible as I get advertisements from Toyota, Sony, Apple etc. that do this very thing. What application and processes do I need to be looking at to make this happen. Thank you for your help.

First, be aware that there is no way to guarantee that an email will look just like a web page to all recipients, since different email client apps process them differently. (For instance, Mail always displays what image files it can within the message, while others may display some or all as attachments.)
Moreover, while HTML formatted emails are similar to HTML formatted web pages, the formatting is not identical. Emails are sent with MIME formatting that controls content disposition & provides options that web pages don't, such as alternate representations (typically plain text & HTML versions) within the same transmitted message. By comparison, most complex web pages consist of many different files, all downloaded by a browser to compose a page. (If you are using Safari to view this, select "Activity" from the "Window" menu to see just how many different files were downloaded to display this web page. It is a lot more than you might think!)
For what you want to do, it may help to examine the raw source of the ads you want to emulate, to see how much of the message content is "embedded" (called "inline" in MIME terms) & how much is 'remote' -- that is, HTML links to files like with a web page (identified by "<href>" tags) -- plus what (if any) alternative versions they contain. Each option impacts appearance & download time, so it is something you should consider before deciding what is best for your clients & what app(s) you need.
To get an idea of some of the possibilities, try Googling "bulk email applications" or check out some of the links at Mac Email Marketing Software - About Email.

  • Why can't I download QuickTime

I was trying to listen to voicemails from my att account and it does not play on safari. I try to down load QuickTime but I cannot get it to download

Quicktime is built in to Safari on iOS. There are no plug ins that you can download. You might want to consult the help pages for your AT&T account and see what the recommend. If this is your AT&T wireless VM, can't you just use the built in VM player (in the phone app) to listen to it?
