Hi,
Now i am working in Netweaver Developer Studio [java] for past three months.I want to survive in SAP as many year as possible .i want to work as a Functional consultant.what steps should i have to take to achieve.Is there any sponsor programs to learn any specific functional part.
What is meant by boot camp.
Tell me what top most stage i can achieve in Netweaver .Does ABAP knowledge is mandatory to have a standard stability to survive in SAP. consider my current situation and share me some useful guidance.

Financial statement version:functional area

Hi,
I created a financial statement version with functional area and run it(S_PL0_86000032 ) , most items are correct, however, the item which assigned function area always 0, this means that system can not get any data via function area. would anyone help me?

If you want to define a financial statement version with functional areas, these functions are limited. You cannot use the following functions:
        Balance-Dependent Display
You cannot display functional areas dependent on the balance, that is, assign them to a different item dependent on the balance.
·        Debit/Credit Shift
You cannot define items to which you have assigned functional areas as debit/credit shift items.
·        Check for Completeness
You cannot use the check for completeness for financial statement versions with functional areas.
You also have to carry out the following additional activities:
       1.      When you enter the general data, set the Functional area permitted indicator.
You then have the option of assigning either accounts or functional areas to an item in your financial statement version.
       2.      Assign the required functional areas or functional area intervals to your P&L items

Cost center planning by functional area

hi gurus,
The client needs to do manual planning in CO (KP06) by cost center/cost element/fund/functional area. This data is later gets rolled up in FM to formulate the budget data. The client wants to enter all the account assignment manually except for functional area. They want that system automatically derive the functional area based on the cost center (one to one relationship). I tried the CO substitution but this functionality is only for actual data and not plan data. Any suggestion how I can derive the functional area in CO planning based on cost center?

Hi,
Functional area is required for cost of sales accounting in Finance. It has got nothing to do with Cost Center planning. Functional area shall not be visible in controlling. Pl update this constraint to the client and go ahead with Cost center/cost element planning with necessary one to one relationship with Fund center, etc.

No Functional Area Found Error while creating service data in me22n

Hello,
While creating service data for a purchase order in ME22n I am getting error like " No functional area found" .
Please tell me how to maintain the Functional area for a particular GL account
In the help i can found that we can find the functional area "The functional area can be determined either using the cost element, the account assignment object (such as the cost center or order)"
How we can determine this please through some light on this statement.

Hello Madhav,
You have to maintain your 'business transaction profile' (SPRO->CRM->IC Web->Business Transaction->Define bus. trans. prof.) in the customizing and assign that profile to your IC WebClient profile (the one you assigned in the org. model)
In the business transaction profile you must make sure that at least one transaction type (e.g. ZSRV) is assigned as 'Dependent business transaction' and that entry is flagged as 'Service'.
Also make sure that that transaction type (ZSRV) has leading business transaction category 'Service process' (BUS2000116).
This should solve your problem!

Functional Area in Line Item Display FBL3N

Dear Expert,
My system is running on ECC6.0 and functional area is activated.
I would like to see the Functional Area in Line Item Display (FBL3N) but couldn't get it in any field selection (change layout).
I have added the field in the GL Accounts> Line Items> Define Special Field for line item display as BSEG - FKBER_LONG
But I still couldn't get the functional area for each line item in the Line Item Display.
Please advise. Many thanks.

Functional Area Issue

Hi All
I need to correct a functional area difference that has occurred in few of our GL accounts. Originally, some of our order numbers were set up to only allow posting to cost/profit center 123456. This was incorrect, so the order numbers were changed to allow posting to cost/profit center 456789. I reclassed the entries that had been posted to 123456, but the functional area changed. So now, I am out of balance between functional areas 65432 and 98765 and it is causing errors in some of the reports we run. Is there a way I might book an entry to zero out the functional areas affected? I have attached the GL activity for reference.

I tried debiting and crediting the same account with the same cost center but different functional areas. I believe even if the functional area is generally derived from the cost center a manual override will take a preference.I made all the accounts and cost centers the same, but I do not see an option where I can manually override what gets posted to the functional area.
Can you send me the screen shots to do the same?

Hi,
There are certain preliminary steps to be carried out in ECCS. You can find them under SPRO->Enterprise Controlling->Consolidation->Integration: Preparation for Consolidation.
You need to choose the type of consolidation, create Company, link it to Cons Unit in ECCS, Creating/Copying FS Items (each account in Group COA will have an FS Item; 1:1), etc.,
After the setup, you actually need to carry out Rollup or Flexi Upload for importing FI data into ECCS FS Items. This is done to Data Monitor - CXCD.
In ECMCT, typical selections would be Dimension, Cons Unit, Cons COA, FS Item.
I suppose these preliminary steps are requried for the data to flow to FS Items.

Functional area blank

Hi All,
I have a situation here, during creation of cost center, I didn't fill the functional area. It is supposed to be a mandatory field, somehow forgot to make it mandatory.
Now ... some transactions posted with the respective cost center, I cannot generate report based on functional area.
My question, is there any way to fix this situation ?

In the report painter, when I define the characteristic selection, I call functional area, and I cannot limit functional area = blank.
I have to fill the value.
If functional area = blank -> report will take ALL functional area.
I want the report to have the functional area per column, example
Functional area 10 ; Functional area 20 ; Functional area 30&40 and so on

I suggest you to go for training provided by SAP Labs on SAP BI 7.0 which helps u lot. As you are experienced in ABAP, you might have known all such things. If you want to have a kick start what are the things you need to concentrate on, i can suggest you. ABAP + BW is a good combination. If you know BW along with ABAP, market also prfers the same combination.

I have 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II. How do I connect? 4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI. 5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute?

I read where on a PC they would work together, but on a MAC they do not.
I read that Display Port has higher band width than DVI, NEC monitors for best performance they recommend using DIsplay Port.
When I was setting this up I looked at a Nvidia Quadro 4000, unfortunately it was for PC, it had 2 Display Ports, in the Mac version they reduce it to one. I did not think there could be a difference.
Mainly want to use it for CS6 and LR4.
How to proceed???
I do not want to use the Quadro 4000 for both, that would not optimize both monitors, one DP and 1 DVI. Using just the 5770 would work but I do not think the 4000 would be doing anything, and the 5770 has been replaced by the 5870.more bandwidth.
Any ideas, I am a Mac newbie, have not ever tried a Mac Pro, just bought off ebay and now I have these problems.
As a last resort I could sell both and get a 5870. That would work, I'm sure of that, it's just that I wanted the better graphics card.

I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can. From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance. The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs. Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA. I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000. Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected? I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are. I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4. Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.

as you have more than 6 yrs. experience , you can opt for sap field but the main thing is that still if your job hunt will get ended, you will be considered as ab fresher, so are you ready for those bucks you will get after you will become a sap FI/CO consultant.
Please understand one thing , if you wnats to make your career in sap field, you are most welcome, when it comes to a job for you in SAP FI/CO , you have to consider in your brain only middle or small size industry, because as far as i concern no single major company will provide you exposure to work with them (if you will get, its your good fortune). So, if you have decided to take a step ahead in sap FI/CO i will not give you negative thinking, if you are ready to negotiate in your renumeration in starting your career, then you can take a foot ahead, but look a job in middle size or small companies only, i think through this you will get any exposure more easily.

How to get Function Area (or Cost Center) from COSP ?

Dear experts,
I am new to FICO and here is one question need your help:
Now I have table COSP, can anybody let me know how can I get Function Area through joining some other table?
Or how to get the cost center from COSP, since I know then I can go to CSKS to find the function area.
Any post would be appreciated and thank you all in advance!

Actually this is a requirement for our BW system. I checked all the records to find their OBJNR start with "OR", but we need to get the function area information. Do you know how can I get that?
The link below listed all the fields we have on BW side, actually it has function area, but it returns blank, we tried to apply one OSS note in the source ECC system, but still no value returned for this field. So we have to find another way to get the function area.
