Want to install adobe 6.0

I upgraded to Adobe 11 and now I can't open PDF files on this computer, it says "unspecified error" my other computers work with 6.0. I have an anxient windows program that apparently doesn't recognize the upgrade and I really want 6.0 back. I tried looking for it but only find upgrades that require me to have the 6.0 first. Where can I find 6.0?

You can find any ancient Reader version by navigating the Adobe FTP server ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/

You must back up all data before continuing, unless you've already done so. If you need to back up but can't log in, ask for instructions.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. In the Terminal window, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select
 ▹ Restart
from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.

You install PPro to then install the bundled Encore, but you do not need PPro to run Encore (but be VERY careful if you try to uninstall Premiere Pro, that you do not also uninstall Encore)

Hi there,
I bought Adobe Creative Suite three months ago, installed it on my pG4 powerbook.
Recently I got a MacBook Pro. Should I de-authorize Adobe on my powerbook before installing it on my MBP? Part of the reason I ask is because at some point in the future, I hope to get a Mac Pro, and will definitely want to install Adobe CS on it.
Are there issues to de-authorizing?
Any special steps anyone can advise me on?

Yes. According to Adobe, you should deactivate any copy of their CS applications before attempting to use the same serial number for another install. Even if it's on the same computer in the case of an erase and reinstall of the entire hard drive.
All you have to do is launch any of the Creative Suite apps. From the menu, choose Help > Deactivate. You will get a box warning you that you will be deactivating the entire suite for that computer. You can't deactivate just one portion of it, like Illustrator, and leave the rest installed. Click the Deactivate button.
I don't remember what the original CS suite gives you for options to uninstall it. Go to the /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers/ folder and run the alias linked programs to uninstall the software, if you have them. Otherwise, put in the original CD or DVD and see if there's an option to uninstall the software there.

We currently have Adobe Illustrator CS5 and would like to try to install on a Windows 8 environment; specifically a tablet. I can find where the next version is compatible with Windows 8 but wanted to know if anyone was able to install using CS5.

Unfortunately, it seems that only CS5.5 (and CS6) can be used with Windows 8 (see under CS6).
But according to Microsoft, CS5 is compatible with Windows 8.1:

No I meant to "borrow" the other Mac's optical drive, with the new Mac as the Target. cornelius puts it succinctly here, except we're not talking about a Mac with a broken drive. And you would select the Adobe DVD, not the "install disc."
I suggest that you get a firewire cable. Then boot the computer with the working optical drive into Firewire Target Disk Mode, startup the computer with the broken drive and hold down the Option key. Then select the install disk as boot and startup and proceed with installation.
