  • Want to install Oracle Developer Suite 10g R2 on Windows 7 (64-bit)

    Hi,
I have windows 7 (64-bit) installed on my laptop. I want to install Oracle developer suite 10g R2 on this machine but when I run the Oracle Universal Installer, it gives me error stating "operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1, 5.2. Actual 6.1 Failed<<<<
    Exiting OUI.
Can anyone please help me to solve this problem.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

Developer Suite 10 is not certified or supported to be installed on Win7 (64bit). Although it can be done, you will have problems later if you manage to get it installed. If you really want to have it on your Win7 laptop, I encourage you to install "Windows XP Mode", which is part of Windows Virtual PC. This is free to licensed Win7 users (does not apply to Home edition). Refer to the following:

please help me i am try to install oracle developer 10g on win server 2008 but failed because the version of operating system not 5 or 5.1 or 5.2 and it is 6
so i want to install oracle developer 11g on win server 2008 but i am not found oracle developer 11g to download it
please any one help me to solve this problem or help me to find oracle developer 11g
    Thank you

Oracle Developler 11g is now called Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMw) 11g and can be downloaded from the Oracle Fusion Middleware Downloads page. You have to download and install WebLogic Server (WLS) 10.3.3 first, then scroll down and download and install Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer (11.1.1.3.0).
When you install WLS, make sure you do not run the configuration step. When you install FMw, it will configure the WLS as part of it's configuration step.
    Hope this helps,

  • I want to install Oracle 8i and forms 6i on xp

I want to install Oracle 8i and forms 6i on xp. Kindly give me a complete step by step file, so that i can know before installation......
    Thanks

Get into a time machine and go back about 20 years. ;-)
You are asking about something hopefully no one has done for a decade ... installing desupported software on a desupported database on a desupported operating system on, perhaps, some antique server.
Perhaps someone else kept their notes from back in the Jurassic period but mine were in a recycle bin many many years ago.
If you really wish to do this I suspect you are going to be stuck doing it the way we did back then ... read the docs accompanying the installation files.

  • I want to install oracle on mac os x lion

i want to install oracle on mac os x lion

I don't believe Oracle makes a version for the Mac. Ask tech support at Oracle. Or you can try with other database applications for the Mac such as:
    FileMaker Pro
Excel from Office 2011 for OS X
    MySQL
These are three good ones. There is an Access-like database program as part of Libre Office that is compatible with OS X. There are many OS X compatible applications for accessing and using Oracle databases, but not creating them.

  • Newbie wants to install Oracle on Linux

    Hello there
As a novice, I'm keen to get cracking on installing Oracle on
    Linux.
As yet I have not purchased a copy of Linux. I intend running my
setup on an IBM 560E Thinkpad with 80 Meg of RAM.
I'm interested to hear opinions on which versions of Linux
would result in the least hassle and / or most functionality etc.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi John,
I'm also quite new to linux/"free OS". The first thing you will
need to do is get a Linux distribution. I personnaly tried 3
different ways : Slackware, Red Hat and FreeBSD (which is not
linux, but is in some ways compatible with linux binaries).
The best I can say is : If you are new to linux, take Red Hat as
it is most simple and straight forward to install. Drawback : you
need 450 MB disk space for installation as Red Hat install you
everything you need (and perhaps more than that) to have a
running workstation (including a running X Window GUI and lots
of programs). And that is also the + point of Red Hat. To give
you an idea, I felt Red Hat easier to install on my Compaq
    Presario than any Windows...
On the other hand Slackware is far more flexible if you know what
you are doing... (so was FreeBSD a year ago when I tested it).
Finally, you mention that you will be installing on a laptop. I'm
not sure that the best idea since laptops are not among the
easyest to configure. Be sure to check www.linux.org (in the
material compatibility section) where the could have some good
tips to get you up and running.
I haven't installed Oracle yet so I cannot say much on this.
    Cheers
    Paul

  • Want to install Oracle Linux Rel.6 and have a graphical interface

    After reading:
Does Oracle Linux Rel.6 have graphical capabilities
How do you install the GUI for Oracle Linux Rel 6?

I guess I strive to be liberal, but by definition I don't think I really fit into any political wing.Likewise. Find politics a necessary evil to keep abreast of - such as the election in the US.
Back to Linux and your example, I have used such interfaces for many years too. Unfortunately we often have to use what is provided. However, the reason for the text interface is no longer valid, unless your input device is only a text based terminal. Not as much the input device - heck, pure tty devices are pretty much a thing of the past. It is about the complexity of the infrastructure between you and the device you need to administer. And about the task you need to perform.
The connectivity can mean being unable to run a GUI - due to performance, firewalls, router configurations and so on. The task at hand could very well be easily done, using the relevant o/s commands via a command line interface.
I think there is nothing against a GUI app that runs on your PC to sends appropriate commands to a text interface over a slow serial link, apart from the effort that is required to interact with errors, etc.Much more complex than that. A terminal server is usually used - and it attaches to the serial/RS232 connections of multiple devices that need to be administered. It will typically reside on a separate management network too, and not on the local company/corporate intranet.
So for you to access a device to administer, you need an open firewall to the management network to reach the management server that handles the serial console connection for the device you want to administer. You need a valid o/s account on that terminal server. You need to use ssh to access the command line of that terminal server. You need to enter the relevant command that will attach your ssh session to the RS232 console connection to the device to administer.
There is no GUI app on your side that can not only automagically do all this for you, but also provide you with GUI admin widgets to send commands to the remote device. Even if that remote device being sysadmin'ed is Linux, different distros and different versions of the same distros, means different commands, variances in command line parameters for such commands, and so on.
A sysadmin that cannot deal with such situations, and need a GUI as a crutch to administer a device.. I for one will not call that person a sysadmin. I would call the person incompetent instead. Harsh views perhaps, but being sysadmin is an unforgiving job. A mistake, or inability to access a device and fix it using the bare minimum, could result in severe financial loss for the company.

  • Sql developer not working which i got when i installed oracle 11g on win7

Hi i successfully instaled my oracle 11g on windows 7,but when iam trying to use my sql developer chich i got by default with 11g is not working ..when i open it its asking me for "select the path of java.exe file" when i browse and given the right path .iits again giving me the same pop and not throughing any error msg at least.
Could u pls help me out on this??

Well, not supported does not necessarly mean does not work, but if you have problem, then your only way is to find a solution on your own or through other fellows who are doing the same.
Anyway, you could ask your question in the SQL Developer dedicated forum, but again, you could have some unexpected issues by working on non-supported config :

  • How to install Oracle VM Server 2.2.0 as 32-bit mode on a 64-bit machine.

    Gurus,
If I am not wrong, the Oracle VM Server 2.2.0 installer for 32-bit and 64-bit are the same file.
I have AMD 64 bit machine, when I install Oracle VM Server 2.2.0, it installs as 64-bit.
However due to requirement, I want to install Oracle VM Server in 32-bit mode.
    Will appreciate the steps.
    Regards,
    Krishna

    Krishna,
Please note that the zip file from the Oracle eDelivery/Linux site contains a single Oracle VM server ISO file; this file is used for both x86 and x86-64 hardware. The Oracle VM server install routine automatically detects the hardware platform and installs the appropriate 32-bit or 64-bit Xen hypervisor. Regardless of the hardware platform, 32-bit or 64-bit, dom0 is 32-bit. Will a 32bit dom0 meet your business requirements?
Could you please let us know the business requirements re 32bit?
For details about the installation, sizing and server resource requirements please review http://itnewscast.com/chapter-4-oracle-vm-server-sizing-installation-and-updates

    Hello,

I do all the task execpt the kernel configuration :
    - swap 273Mo + a temprorary file swap 300Mo
    - glibx 2.1 installation (compatibility from Red Hat 6.2 and glibc 2.1 compatibility SDK) -> i have glic2.2
    - install of JDK 1.1.8 from blackdown.org
    - 4 directories created as described in the article "Installing Oracle8i on red hat linux 7.1/7.2 (http://www.idevelopment.info/data/DBA_tips/Linux/LINUX_2.shtml)

    Can you help me.

    Benny,
cd to the .../ctx/lib directory and check the ORACLE_HOME at the type of that file. Fix the path in the file or make sure that it's set propertly in the env of that shell.
    Type make -f ins_ctx.mk
Linking should complete w/out error messages in shell, then tell Oracle Installer to ignore.
This worked for me on RH 7.2, see http://www.alsutton.com/oracle_install.html for more details, or reference the text below.
    An error may occur towards the end of the install on ${ORACLE_HOME}/ctx/lib/ins_ctx.mk, to fix this I did the following;
    1. Start a new shell
    2. Type cd ${ORACLE_HOME}/ctx/lib
    3. Type vi ins_ctx.mk
    4. Inser a line at the top of the makefile which sets the ORACLE_HOME to the correct value. (Or set the ORACLE_HOME environment variable to the correct value).
    5. Save the file and close vi
    6. Type make -f ins_ctx.mk
Once the make is complete tell the Oracle install procedure to ignore the error.
