I Want to install windows on Mac air to use HSBCnet . Which version of windows to install n how?

Several ways to install Windows ...
1.   VMware
2.   Parallels
Or partition the hard drive using Boot Camp Assistant
If you do partition the drive using Boot Camp, you will have to purchase a Windows install disc.

I don't want to install iTune, how to cancel auto-renewal or manage my subscriptions.

You can only do it on a computer's iTunes (which doesn't need to be on your computer) or on an iOS device : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4098

  • Which version I should use

    Hi,
    I got this
Java 1.5.0_03 or later is required for installing Oracle Solaris Studio. Make sure that Java is properly installed and run installer again.
You can specify valid Java location using --javahome installer argument.
Can anyone tell me which JDK version I should use there?

    Moderator Action:
This post has been moved from the Oracle Linux forum.
You don't have a Linux question.
    You actually don't have a JRE/JDK question.
You have a Solaris Studio question.
You needed to spend an extra moment choosing where to post it.
    We moved it for you.

  • I am facing troubles as Firebug is not compatible with this version, I dont want to use any older version. please let me know how to fix this or if you have any other workaround.

I am facing a lot of troubles as Firebug and my other add-ons are not compatible with the new releases of firefox.
I don't want to switch to any other older version of firefox...
Please let me know how to fix this.. or I request you to provide a solution / work around ASAP.
    Thanks...

Firebug has development versions that should work in Firefox 4 beta builds. Try the latest version (1.6X.ob1) available from http://getfirebug.com/releases/firebug/1.6X/
This is a beta version of Firebug.
For other add-ons marked as incompatible, you can install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/15003 Add-on Compatibility Reporter], this will enable all of your add-ons and you can test to see if they work. If the add-ons do not work you can disable them. Note that the current release version of Firebug will not work, you will need to use the beta version.

  • I want to update my imac software to a version that uploads the icloud icon in preferences. Which version do I need and how do I force my imac to update that software.

I am currently running OSX 10.6.8. this version does not have the icloud icon in system preferences. How do I do a forced software update to a version that allows icloud operations. To qualify I have done a number of software updates using the software update dropdown but it does not find the most recent software like mountain Lion or Mavericks etc.  Why? surely if I am asking the computer to find the most recent software it would tel me that I am running an out of date software level?

    Hi Tubbsy,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
When you run Software Updates from the Apple Menu, it looks for software to update for your current operating system. The first version of Mac OS X to have iCloud functionality built into the System Preferences was Mac OS X Lion 10.7. The current version of Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 is available in the Mac App Store that you can access from the Apple Menu and it is free. Please be sure to check the system requirements to make sure your computer can support the software before downloading and installing. The attached article contains that information and instructions for downloading and installing.

  • Downloaded ios 6 to iphone but don't want to install.  How do i remove download from phone.  Takes up too much room.

The ios 6 download takes up too much room.  I don't want to install it, but I don't know how to get rid of the download.  Any way to get rid if it?

There is no way to get rid of it now that it is earmarked for the phone. I can respect your choice to hold to Maps, but you will need to install eventually. While this may not matter to you, the Maps app has worked fine for me, however I live in the US and that could make a difference.

  • If java6update29 is incompatable with the current firefox, which version do I need and how do I get it?

I have the current version of firefox. When I checked my plug-ins on firefox it said Java was outdated. So I updated it and now firefox has disabled it because it is not compatible. So do I now have to take off this version Of java? which version do I need and where do I get it?

Firefox automatically disables only Java Console; see info below on Java Console
    See the following article
    *https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Add-ons%20are%20disabled%20after%20updating%20Firefox
    '''<u>Java Console</u>'''<br />
Unless you do Java programming/development or debug Java applets on web pages, you do not need Java Console. Java update will install a new Java Console with each update. Removing the Java Console extensions has no effect on the functioning of Java for web browsing. You can see, '''''but not remove''''', the Java Console extensions in Add-ons > Extensions. Java Console extensions can be safely removed '''''manually''''' by following the instructions in this article:

  • Shot on 35mm... want to edit in 1080... which tape medium should I use?

    Hello.
Just shot a music video on 35mm. My plan is to use a different workflow than I usually do, but I need a bit of coaching. I normally downconvert from film, and go to a finishing house to do an online.
But now that I've gotten better with Color, I want to do the color correction and finishing myself.
    My question is this:
When I do the telecine, would it be best for me to do a flat pass so that I have the most latitude to work with?
I plan on cutting uncompressed HD- preferably 1080. Which medium of tapestock should I transfer to? HDcam? D5? remember that I have to rent a deck to import this footage.
Lastly, I've never imported footage of this high resolution before. Should I just use a firewire input, or would that further compress the footage?
    Thanks,
    Enzo

I also have a 2.33 core 2 duo laptop w/ 2g ram. I assume there is no way to hook up the s2vrhd or the capture card to my laptop... right?
Sorry Athen, you are wrong here. CalDigit makes an Express 32 eSATA card, so it will work. BUT, it won't work with UNCOMPRESSED HD. Laptops still can't do that.
But the S2VR HD has issues with PCI-X Macs...sometime one of the drives just goes offline, or the unit unmounts unexpectedly. These issues don't happen on the PCIe machines. This might not be the best unit for you. I have not issues with the S2VR Duo...but that can't handle uncompressed HD. Hmm. Sonnet 500P?
Melrose Mac is a good place. Not sure if they carry CalDigit.
The only capture card that will work with your laptop will be the MXO. Although, it neither captures, nor is it a card. But it is the only one that works with the laptop. But, it doesn't capture, so that won't work. Kona LH would be your best bet for capturing D5 or HDCAM SR as DVCPRO HD.

  • Just installed OS X Snow Leopard, and now Photobooth says I can't use the old version (2.0.3). How do I get the new version?

I just downloaded OS X Snow Leopard onto my early 2008 Macbook. I would like to be able to use Photobooth but it says I can not use this (2.0.3) version. How am I able to get an updated version??

For now just reinstall the combo updater. If this does not install Photobooth, then you will have to reinstall Snow Leopard or:
How Restore Deleted or Missing OS X Components
A few of the basic OS X installed applications can be restored from the Optional Installs installer located in the Optional installs folder on your Installer DVD.  However, if what you need is not there then follow the instructions below.
How to Use Pacifist to Restore Deleted or Missing OS X Components
Insert the OS X Installer DVD into the optical drive.  Use a simple utility like TinkerTool to toggle invisibility so you can see invisible items.  Alternatively, open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and at the prompt enter the following:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles Yes
    Press RETURN.
To turn off the display of invisible files repeat the above command substituting No for Yes.
The install packages are located in the /System/Installation/ folder on the DVD.
Download the shareware utility Pacifist. Use it to extract a fresh copy of the missing item(s) from the file archives on your OS X installation DVD. The file archives are in the /System/Installations/ folder (use Go to Folder option in the Go menu of the Finder.)
Here are Four Basic ways to use Pacifist (courtesy of George Orville.)
      A. Drag a .pkg icon onto the Pacifist window .....proceed to step 7.
      B. Click on “Open Package ....” and navigate to package desired and click “Open” in
           the open/save window.....proceed to step 7.
      C. Insert Mac OS X installer CD and when it mounts, navigate to .... Menu->Go->Go
to Folder. In the path field enter or paste ....
/Volumes/disc name/System/Installation/Packages (where disc name is the name of the CD/DVD that you inserted.)
Click on the  "Go" button ..... • Drag a .pkg to Pacifist..... proceed to step 7.
The package you'll need will have to be discovered by trial and error, but for most applications you should start with the Essentials.pkg and/or Additional Essentials.pkg.
    D. Insert your Mac OS X install disk 1 .... and open Pacifist.
    1.          In Pacifist, select "Open Mac OS X Install Packages" ... dialog may appear asking for disk 2, then disk 3 and finally disk 1 again.... {if DVD is not used)...If “Stop Loading” is selected...the procedure will stop!!!
2a. When loading is complete, a new window appears, click the triangle to display contents of each package...Select item and proceed to step 7.
2b.          or click the “Find” icon in the Pacifist window and type the name of the software you need.
    3.          In the list that comes back, click the top most entry for the item that you want. ..... that is the one for the English language.
    4.          On the top of the Pacifist window, click “verify” .... you will probably be prompted for your password.
    5.          Enter checks for.... “verify permissions” and “verify file contents.” and click “verify” ....enter password when prompted.... you will get back output which may look like this:
20 files were scanned. 20 of 20 files were present on the hard disk. 0 of 20 files had file permissions that did not match those specified in the package. 0 of 20 files had checksums that did not match those specified in the package.
    6.          Click “close”. Go to step 7.
    Extract or Install........
    7.          In the Toolbar (upper left), you now have the option to extract or install. Click a file in the lower list and those two icons will be enabled.
    8.          If “Extract to...” is selected.... navigate to the location where the file will be placed, select “choose”, select “extract” in new dialog that appears, authenicate , if prompted, click “OK”.
    9.          In the next dialog, click “Extract”.
    10.          If “Install” is selected... dialog will appear with the location/path of the installed software. Click “Install”
    11.          Type in your password, click “OK”
Pacifist will begin to extract files.
    12.          In steps 8/10ß.... you also have the choice to “cancel”
Notes:          Pacifist may find that a file it is installing already exists on the hard disk. Pacifist will present you with an alert panel....
      • Stop
      • Leave original alone
      • Update .....
      • Default selection
      • Replace .... (Replace option should only be used on full install packages)

  • When I start Firefox, the name goes to the bar at the bottom, but I can't open it. Clicking it does nothing, I am still left with my desktop. So temporarily, I have to access the internet using IE, which I don't prefer. How do I get round this?

I used FF for some time, then I looked up a page in Turkish (not my language), and the page appeared in a small format, and I couldn't open it. Even when I right-clicked the FF icon, I couldn't close it, so I turned the computer off, and restarted, but I still can't open any page with FF because I can't get the full page. I am using an Acer Desktop tower with Vista - I am bilingual German/English. I have tried starting the computer in a different modus, FF starts then, but when I use the usual modus, it won't start - I use ESET NOD32 AV and Ad-Aware, and both haven't found a problem - I am now running Malwarebytes, and so far it hasn't found anything

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

  • HT1338 running OS X 10.5.8 on macbook, want to install iCloud, how can I upgrade

How can I upgrade to install iCloud?

If you don't have at least a Core2Duo MacBook, you won't be able to use iCloud in Mac OS X. A CoreDuo or CoreSolo MacBook is not compatible with 10.7.  It is compatible though with Windows 7, which is compatible with iCloud.  Some iCloud services work with pre-10.7.2 systems, but not all.
Rosetta is not compatible with 10.7.  So you won't be able to run applications made for pre-2006 Macs.
That said, read these tips for upgrading to 10.7:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2465
    10.8:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3761
    And getting iCloud
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2551
Some links on the iCloud tip that may be useful no longer work, so asking on the iCloud forum is probably best:
