Want to keep audio but swap out slides

I have a traning course that various associations license for
their members, each association having their own "private label"
banner logo at the top of each page. I just created a huge demo of
this course (50+ slides) for the members using screenshots of one
of the association's versions and everything's just about right,
including a lot of narration. I'm going to need to make a few more
demos with the exact same narration for the other associations, but
will have to switch out the screenshots of the first "private
label" version with those of the other associations.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to best do this? I'm almost
tempted to just paste over the part of each slide displaying the
association name in the original demo with an image of the other
associations' names. Most of the logos are a consistent size
throughout the document.
I can't imagine there are any tricks to what I'm trying to do
here reusing the audio like this, but anything anyone knows to make
this go faster would be a huge help, as I have a few different
versions to do.

That sounds really good. One wrinkle. These are basically
screenshots of a browser showing the content of a course. About a
third of the way through, the broswer window changes a little,
meaning the logo needs to be scaled and moved a bit, so I've been
pasting the logo into the first third, doing my thing with the
"merge with background", then realigning the logo and doing the
same thing for the second third, etc.
I guess the quesiton is, if the element needs to shift/scale
occasionally, can I still take advantage of "rest of project"? I'm
guessing no. I've already segmented this a few times and
daisy-chained them together, I'm wondering if I should resegment
them based on these logo shifts I've described.
The reason I'm so interested in this is I'm going to have to
do this whole conversion a few times more in the next couple of
weeks, and more times throughout the year.

Really want to keep Safari--BUT....

For my own browsing experience with Safari there are still just too many bugs and annoyances, although it IS fast, but at too high a cost of reliability--pity. This release is more of a Beta standard. sigh.

I'm relatively new to MAC OS X so I wanted to post how I renamed the directory for those like me that I'm not gurus on BSD MAC OX commands.
1.-Open a terminal window->Finder->Applications->Utilities->Terminal.app
2.-Type the following under the terminal "mv /usr/local/sps/ia /usr/local/sps/ia.safari.crash"
This should rename your problematic directory "/usr/local/sps/ia" to "/usr/local/sps/ia.safari.crash" and safari should work. Remember that this is for those people that have upgraded to Safari 5 and have SpectorPro software installed on their computers.
I hope to see a proper fix from SpectorPro soon.

My BetterPrivacy addon now Freezes firefox, causing a "Script: chrome//bp/content/bp.js:847" unresponsive notification. I'm still running Ff 3.6, and want to keep BetterPrivacy, but I have to disable it now. It worked just fine until recently.

I have to click on "Stop unresponsive script" to get Firefox to load, and then have to disable BetterPrivacy in order to use Ff normally. I haven't changed Ff or BetterPrivacy lately, to the best of my knowledge, but I can't use the BP add-on any longer.
Just in case, I also deleted my Chrome browser, which I had as a stand-by, but it didn't help. I still get "A script on this page is unresponsive: Script: chrome//bp/content/bp.js:847". Any ideas?
I'm not certain which version of BP I had when this problem started, but today I tried adding the latest version, 1.49, but still had same trouble.
Your "educated guess" is correct - Ff 3.616 and Vista.

I turned off the accelrator months ago. That was the first thing I did. It helped some. The problem is getting progressively worse, so it seems like every upgrade in the past 3-4 months is causing the problem.

Migrated family user to laptop....want to keep apps but change user and iCloud, calendar, email association

migrated family user account to my laptop. have my own identity and user on laptop including iCloud account, email set-up, etc. Now need to take the migrated user account and change it to the new identity I established...that way will retain the apps and documents, etc.....but need to associate it with correct iCloud account, email settings, etc. Doesn't seem straightforward. Any suggestions?

Help swapping out a photo

I'm trying to figure out how to do something and could use some suggestions. On my slide I want to build in 2 photos with captions, 1st the left photo with caption 1 then joined by the right photo with caption 2. Then, I want the right photo to swap out to a 3rd photo keeping caption 2 in place. How do you build out a photo so a new photo can build in to the same location. I would just use an action effect, but I can't since I'm already using build. In other words...you can't use both a build and an action on the same image.

Set the color profile first: Image -> Convert Color Profile -> Covert to sRGB
In order to save with those dimensions, the image must be cropped first. However, the crop tool uses inches or cm instead of straight pixels. To get the desired size: Go to Image -> Resize -> Image Size, enter 1920 as one of the pixel dimensions and note the resulting inch/cm measurement. Cancel this screen and click on the crop tool. The aspect ratio should be set to 'Custom', enter the inch equivalent of 1920 pixels for both the width and the height and crop the image with a resolution of 72 pixels/inch.
Save the file: File -> Save For Web... (because this will give you the smallest file sizes) On the right, make sure the file type is set to JPEG (the default is GIF) and reset the pixel dimensions to 1920 and hit apply (it automatically adjusts the sizes for website which usually require dimensions under 1000). The file size displays under the preview along with approximate load times. Click okay and save the file where you want it.
It would probably be helpful to read up on how to set your workspace to default to sRGB in order to save time if you're doing this a lot.

Use File >> Save As
Choose a different file name so as not to overwrite the original and don't save any changes when closing the original.

Keep original audio but add in alternate clips in iMovie '11

I shot a video and wish to keep the original soundtrack while adding a couple of clips in the middle. I know I'll need to clip out some of the original video so that I retain the original length of the video to match the length of audio, but how do I do that? I've read about splitting video but not audio. Can I copy the original audio track and add it as an additional track and then edit the video portion?

Use the Cutaway feature for this.
First, go into iMovie/Preferences and make sure the advanced tools are enabled.
Drag the second clip from the event and drop it on the clip in the project at the video frame where you want it to start. When the pop-up menu appears, choose Cutaway.

I am relatively new to apple (have an iPad) and having been a PC user for years I was pleasantly surprised with the apple experience and am now trying to work out the best set up for me, my husband and young son as I am buying them both of them apple products this Christmas. New Mac laptop/ ipad for hubby and then an ipod touch for my son oh and a new mac laptop for me. We are also thinking of moving from Blackberries to iPhones. Yes we seem to be hooked! but i am unsure about the home family set up and how to replace my PC network that I run off an 8TB server.
In reading the forums I keep seeing people talk about problems they have with two apple IDs and trying to merge them. I have also heard about a family ID allowing us to share apps legally. I am really nervous of setting us up wrong and then having problems later and hence i am now looking for some advice on how to share as much as we can legally but also make usage practical and not invading each others privacy. thoughts so far:
Music - I think we are happy to share the same music and access using one ID (we currently don't buy much music from apple but have lots of CDs we share).
Photos - It would be nice to share photos - as long as my son or husband cannot accidentally delete photos of mine (which is my biggest concern). I currently load all camera photos onto my 8TB storage box as the network owner and my husband has full access to copy any photo to his laptop but can never delete the original copies by accident.
Apps - If possible i would like us to share these but they are cheap enough these days to separate if really needed. Would be good to share licence for pages etc though

I have near 300 contacts now through work etc and he will not want them plus i will not want his or him being able to delete mine by mistake. and then for email and facetime, well I want to give him his privacy so I do not receive his messages etc. especially now that we are considering switching to iPhones
Then last but not least, i don't know the best solution for my son. he is only 7 years old so even though I don't want to pay for things again I don't want him being able to download "just any" app from the purchased icon in Appstore. The simple way would be to uncheck 'Mail' in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud, but as you would need access to the devices in question to do that you will have to change your password, at http://appleid.apple.com. You will then need to sign out and back on all the devices you want to be able to receive mail, and it's important that you follow this procedure and note the warning:
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Password & Security' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new password and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support.
The devices on which you have not changed the password will throw up continual error messages as they attempt to contact iCloud and fail.

You can't use icloud to store photos. There's a service called photo stream which is used to sync photos from one device to another, but this can't be used to store photos permanently.
Always sync photos from a device to your computer, Then you can delete them from the device.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

How can I cut some video but keep audio running?

I once knew how to do this but forgot, and can't find it in any discussions or help files.
I have some shaky, crummy video but the audio in it is good.
I am editing the video, but I want to keep a running audio track from the original DV import.
"Paste over at playhead" is not the answer (unless I got it wrong).
I doubt this is the best way to do it but I am presently copying a clip; extracting the audio; placing that audio back into the timeline under the video; hacking up the video...and hoping the length is close to perfect. (Surely not the way to do it).

You know, somehow your explanation made more sense than the iMovie Help file explanation. (Though it has some additional info that touches on what remains a bit of a problem for me).
In any case, thanks. I am using this technique right now. The difficulty that remains for me is how to deal with a short segment of video (to paste) over a 2 or 3 times longer segment of audio. The help info and my own experimentation show that the remaining space gets filled with black. Not very pretty or smooth.
Which leads me to my response to the other person who replied to my post...

Yes. I am copying the clip so I can have needed video to fill the space as the audio plays. But I'm pretty sure this is not the smart, most efficient way.
