Want to make iSync password protected...

I'm at work...I thought it would be great to access my idisk from here...yes it's wonderful...only trouble is somone else has too...The iDisk icon is on my desktop when i startmy Mac...I want to password protect it when someone tries to open it, and make it so they can't.
Is this possible please?
Also...my imac mail sometimes appears in my dock too...I also need that to not appear at all.
TANKS for any help here!
Cheers

I don't see the connection with iSync but whatever:
I think, the simple thing is to protect your computer all-together:
1) Open System Preferences
2) Go to Security
3) Check "Request password to wake this computer..."
4) Uncheck automatic login
5) Make sure your screen saver kicks off after some decent time. Each time your Screen saver starts, you will be required your local password to stop it.
6) Open Keychain Access utility (in Applications -> Utilities) -> Preferences and check "Show Status in Menu bar". This will adds a little "Lock" icon in the menu bar where you can either lock your screen or lock your keychain.

How can I make a password protected encrypted sparse image?
Doing what worked in 2006 does not produce password protection even though I have typed one in and re-entered it as requested. Clicking on the Disk image opens it without asking for the password.  I am stumped.   Many thanks.

Yeah, nobody does. They should put up a custom password save box when you make an encrypted disk image that explains what will happen if you store the password in the keychain. In the current "how-to" article, they mention it, though: How to create a password-protected (encrypted) disk image - Apple Support

  • How do I make my wireless internet password protected?

I set up my wireless router and went to the 192.168.1.1 to set up everything. But how do I make it password protected, so unwanted people can't access my wireless internet? I did it before but can't figure it out again, haha. I went to Wireless>>>Wireless Security, which default the security mode is set to disabled. Should I enable it? If so, which one? This is my house, by the way. WPA Personal WPA Enterprise WPA2 Personal WPA2 Enterprise RADIUS WEP If this is all wrong, then where do I go to enable a password?

Yes. You should enable it. Otherwise anyone in your proximity can access your wireless LAN, your computers and your internet connection.
You should use WPA2 Personal with AES and a strong longer passphrase to get the highest security. The passphrase can be up to 63 characters long. But it kind of depends on what your wireless clients can do which you must connect. Depending on how old the computers/wireless cards are some can only do WPA, some only WEP. You should not use WEP unless absolutely necessary. WEP can be cracked within minutes. WPA and WPA2 are considered secure at this time.
Thus, kind of the preference should be from highest security down. (choices may be slightly different for your router).
    WPA2 Personal AES
    WPA2 Personal AES+TKIP
    WPA Personal AES
    WPA Personal TKIP
    WEP 128bit
    WEP 64bit
However, don't worry to much about the security of WPA. The differences between WPA and WPA2 are more theoretical. Just don't use WEP. Using AES+TKIP should allow WPA and WPA2 clients to connect. Some WPA clients have still difficulties with that and you may have to revert to pure WPA.
Windows XP requires an update for WPA2. Available for download from microsoft.

    3. Which one is the best way to make a Password protected PDF in Mac?

I got these results by Ubuntu 10.04 LTS freeware named "PDF cracker", but I don't know what these info. mean.

  • Password protected iWeb sites

    Hi.
I want to know how to make websites password protected on iWeb. However, I do not have, nor want to invest in MobileMe, so is there any FREE service that does this. Thank you!

To password protect a site, folder or page when using a server other than MobileMe you need to either enable this in your control panel or do it using a .htaccess file.
The server side script is the most secure way to do it. There are javascripts that you can use but they are less secure.....
    http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/cutindex6.shtml
Doing it via the control panel is easier but, if you want to go the htaccess route, you can generate it online here....

  • Password protect folders - bug?

With Lion, I cannot password protect a folder anymore.
When I create a new folder (on, for example, the desktop) and I go to CMD + I, then I can change the permissions to Read-Only or Write Only, just like in Snow Leopard. BUT... I can change those options, without first having to unlock with the lock in the lower right corner..!
Also unlocking and locking doesn't help, whatever I do, I can always change those dropdown values without having to enter my username and password.
Am I doing something wrong? Can you reproduce it?

Just changing the permissions like that does not make it password protected - for example, anyone with administrative access can look at it.  If you want to require a password before anyone can look at the folder, make an encrypted disk image of it.
