Hello People
my company is planning to migrate the databases to unix platform
i am new to migration concept
which os will be appropriate solaris or linux??
we will be purchasing oracle 11g for the os that we decide upon
we are right now using 10.2.0.1.0 on windows server 2003
there is a development team of .NET
they are currently using IIS admin service on windows
keeping this in mind i would like to get input from you guys
any website link,pdf,book will be helpful
the size of the database that we wil be migrating is not much right now but is expected to increase

This forum is intended for questions about migrating to Oracle from non-Oracle databases.
It is dificult to say whether Linux or Solaris would be the better platform for you as there are so many factors involved.
It would be better to ask this question in a different forum - try one of these -

IPC does not run on Unix back in 2.0c days.
Can't answer the rest as not a basis person. Would really suggest you contact you local SAP representative for supporting this option.
Best solution would be to upgrade CRM of course!

I want to migrate email history to profile 2. It's available on the c-drive or usb drive it won't let me browse to the location when i click import.

We set up two profiles in Thuinderbird. Two addresses, Two address books, etc. I want to migrate email history to profile 2 in thunderbird. when I get to IMPORT it does not give me the option of browsing to the location of the outlook express file for profile 2. I just imports the profile 1 historical data. The email I want to import is on the c-drive and I have also put it on the usb flash drive. but I can't get to it to import it. If I just let it import, at brings in the profile 1 history to profile 2. Importing the history to profile 1 worked fine, by the way. I am migrating from outlook express on xp machine to window 8.1

No. Only those Apps that are not installed on the new will migrate over.

Depends on how big is your database.
For small database, doing a export and import is quick and dirty.
For larger database, I would suggest migrate the database. But this means a lot of work and test. This is what I would do if I am doing amigration:
1. Do a cold backup of your 815 database
2. On your new test box, try to install 815 and start your old database
3. Upgrade your database to 8174
4. Install 10gr2 on your new test box
5. Migrate your 8174 database to 10gr2.
6 Test a lot
7. Repeat steps 1-6 2-3 times
8. Document tthe process and your test results completely.
9. Repeat what you document on your production box.

22020134.exe is the file Adobe say you must download and run to instal Acrobat 7.0 Pro. I went through the process, the one described in your link, I downloaded the file, ran it, it runs well, except it tells me my serial number is invalid. Now what? Does this mean I now have to discard my Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional and start again with a $500 purchase? All I want to do is transfer what I have to another computer.

Using Migrations Assistant will only move the data and other things over, it will not bring over a previous version of the Os since the 2014 model can run anything earlier than Yosemite.

I want to migrate my windows 7 system disk to a new, larger, SSD. My Photoshop CS5 is on the old system disk. Can I clone the old SSD to the new one and the just deactivate the CS5 install on the old SSD and activate it on the new, cloned, SSD?
I'd like this to be as painless as possible so I was going to use Acronis. My recent experience with an apple product has convinced me that "brainless" is the new modality in software......

I think Acronis will easily let you achieve your goal.
Theoretically you shouldn't need to deactivate/reactivate, but I would do it anyway - just to be on the safe side.

Yes it look like Adobe migrate presets misses your new document size presets. I was able to copy my "New Doc Sizes.psp" preference file from CC preferences to CC 2014 preferences a manual migrate at best.

All I want to migrate is my address book?

All I want to migrate is my address book from my old G4.
I already set up a user on my G5 and migrated everything from my G4 but I had to create a new user (didn't really want to) which I didn't want to do.
All I really need migrated from the old is the Address book. Is there a way to do this? or should I try to export the address book file? from the old G4 and import to the new.
Plus is there a way to combine users into a single user?

Launch Address Book on the G4 and at the menu bar, go to File and select Back up Address Book.
Launch Address Book on the G5 and at the menu bar, go to File and select Revert to Address Book Backup selecting the backup file created on the G4.
You can't combine users into a single account but you can transfer data from one user account to another. Depending on how you do it, you may need to update or change permissions when transferring data from one user account to another especially when each user account has a different short name and password.

You need to realize that if you buy a new Mac now with
Lion installed, all your PPC apps will not work.
You may just want to build your new system form scratch
and manually move the data you need. Migrating will bring almost
everything over and, since 2004, there may be a lot you just don't
want or need.
Also, installing those programs that you own that are
universal installers (contain Intel code) will
insure everything is put in the right place.
Having a fresh clean system to start out with is not
a bad idea. It's more work but in the long run will
help to alleviate problems.

You only bought it four months ago, so it's still under warrantly.
Call Applecare or call your nearest Applestore to make an appointment. Tell them your mac has serious technical issues, describe them shortly.
