Want to move to from XP to Mac but need to know before hand about security.

For the past few months, I have been having some serious trouble with my system. Twice every month, my setting change and my emails passwords changed. It happens, I reinstall Windows xp home, change the passwords for administrator and user, turn off remote assistance, turn on firewall and then change my password every week which contain letters, numbers and punctuations.
But still someone is trying to sneak in. My settings still change and my passwords cracked.
I am thinking of buying the new iMac and I will be running XP or Vista on it virtually.
But before I do that I want to know what I will have to do to ensure this doesn't happens on iMac.
Should I change my user password every day, I will if I have too?
How long does it takes for a dedicated cracker to crack a say 20 letter(alphabets,numbers and punctuation) password file?
What else should I do?
I had a system crash due to some virus and lost 45GB of data that was residing on an external HD it was connected to the system at the time when the system crashed and all was lost. I want to prevent that.

If the computer you're using now has been compromised and they keep coming back you will have to reformat your hard drive and re-install your OS, that's the only way you can be absolutely certain that the backdoor trojan they installed is removed.
Once that is done, make sure you use both firewall and anti-virus software. If you're using a router, make sure it's firewall is also on.
OS X is not susceptible to Windows virus/trojan problems but it's not 100% secure (no computer is). OS X has had some exploitable problems as well, so you would still want to use its firewall as well as anti-virus software such as ClamXav, especially if you plan on running Windows on it.
My advice to you right now is to disconnect your infected computer from the Internet, reformat its hard drive, re-install the OS and make sure you set up proper security on it as I previously described.

i have used the above url and made changes to my OAF page, but i didn't get the desired output and its also giving as the above code output .
i kept OraBgGrayVeryDark in Css style in property inspector for every region including PageLayout and i also did some changes in cabo/styles/*.css classes.
eventhough it is picking the color upto footer level only and it is not applying for advanced table also.

I have the disks that came with my MBPro and they are 10.5.x. I'm at the "Do You Already Own A Mac" screen since they gal on the phone said to call her when I got to that point. But of course, she has gone home for the day! So - I dun't know WHAT quite to do next?
I have TM backup of my entire MBPro internal hard drive so that's not a problem. But this was a brand new hard disk they said they put into my Mac to replace the original one which they said was f'd up!
I am so wiped out from all of this Macintosh nonsense. It took me an entire weekend to download the updates to all of Apple's software last time they had me do this. The amount of time I've been down is just unbelievable to me given my history with Apple being such a solid, easy to use, and great system.

If you are using iCloud Photo Library and delete them from any device they will be deleted from iCloud and from all devices using iCloud Photo Library. If you want to reduce the storage space required on your Mac the following quote from iCloud Photo Library FAQ - Apple Support may help:

Be sure you back your current system up BEFORE you do anything. If you use Time Machine, migration assistant works well.

Yes, that is the number. And what version of Aperture have you installed? The same version as on your old Mac?
But it don´t work on my new Mac...
In what way does it not work? Does it require you to enter a licence number for Aperture 2 as well? That will be necessary, if your serial number is an upgrade serial number. Then you will have to enter all previous numbers as well.
Or does Aperture not accept the number as correct? Then check the spelling; some letters are easily confused like "I" and "1" and "O" and "0". Do not use the number pad to enter the numbers.

Don't do that - flag the photo and go to the target event and use the add flagged photo to selected event command to move it intact within iPhoto

How to move contacts from iphone to mac's Address book WITHOUT DELETING?

I want to move contacts from my iPhone to the address book in the computer. I'm scared about it deleting contacts in my iPhone instead as I've heard horror stories. Syncing is so freaking confusing???

So far playing around with it back and forth. My understanding is the following;
1. Add on iPhone / Sync / Adds to Address Book
2. Delete on iPhone / Sync / Deletes from Address Book
3. Add in Addres Book / Sync / Does not add to iphone (with no regards to Advanced option in iTunes)
4. Delete in Address Book / Sync / Deletes on iPhone (with no regards to Advanced option in iTunes)

Wanting to move up from panther but should i wait????

i am wanting to move on from panther, i like some of the stuff from tiger, widgets, etc. but should i wait for the new lepoard?? it looks really cool!!! if tiger is in fact much nicer than panther i wouldnt mind spending the money now and then again when lepoard comes out. but if tiger isnt that great than i would rather wait. what do you all think, do you like tiger enough to switch now and again in 6 months? (providing they do launch it in the spring) thanks for any advice....

If youdo upgrade to tiger make sure you have at least 1gb of RAM if you are planning on doing more than web browsing and using itunes.
I had 768mb in my work dual 1.25 G4 and it flew with Panther. When i put tiger on it crawled until i upgraded to 2gb. A couple of the guys in my office use 1gb for quark, photoshop, indesign etc and they get by just fine..... although it drives me up the wall using their machines when they are on holiday as i have to keep quitting programs to stop it slowing down too much.

That's the problem, then. The files are under your 'old' user account. You should be able to access them if you log into your old account. However, that's not going to let you move them to your new user account. It's for situations like this that I always create a root user account (although I seldom access it). With a root user account, you can copy files from one user account to another. Note that someone may come up with a better idea than what I would use, but here goes.
Read http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1528 and set up a root user. Then you can transfer files from one account to another. If you like, you can delete this account after you've moved your files.

I use an Akai usb turntable with the Audacity sw delivered with it. To monitor during recording I also use the LineIn utility (all this on a Macbook Pro with Mavericks).
It works fine, only the input volume of the usb audio port cannot be adjusted (at least I did not yet discover how to do it) and the volume of the music is lower than other music imported into iTunes from CD or iTunes store, but still acceptable.

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore. When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.
