Want to print wirelessly with iMac and Cannon Pixma MX870

I have airport turned on.  My printer software is loaded on my iMac.  Used to print via networking but want to print wirelessly now.  Both my iMac and my printer are connected wirelessly to my Bell 2WIRE Gateway interent modem.  Internet works fine.  Why can't I print?  Do I need to purchase Time Capsule or the Airport box to make this happen?  Helpless in Stonebridge

You didn't look far enough .... http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/wireless/printer-setup-help.html
The next thing is to look in the manual that accompanied the printer for how to use the wireless setup wizard!
This is specific to your printer ..... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02217452&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en &product=5109847#N728

  • Problems printing wirelessly with A_Extreme and Canon pixma i4000

Have had a Airport Express network setup with 2 Macs and 2 PCs sharing the printer wirelessly without problem for 2 years. Replaced the AP with an Extreme base station and now the printer is no longer detectable, although everything else is working well ( x one of the PCs can't detect the USB drive. )
    2.16 GHz Intel Duo Core, G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   1GB ram

Some people have found that the USB 2 port is too fast for some printers.
You can try placing a USB 1 hub in between the printer and the AEBSn.
    Another option
I've had an Canon iP5000 printer linked up to my AirPort Express for remote printing. It has never worked reliably: on long complex jobs it would just stop printing in the middle of a page. Well, now some early testing of a possible fix has allowed me to print long, complex jobs without the printer stopping in the middle. I'm happy, and will test the solution more over the next few weeks. Although not yet thoroughly tested, I thought I'd share my solution now, given how well it seems to be working. I set up the firewall installed in Mac OS X to limit the bandwidth of the connection to the AirPort, so that print jobs go more slowly to the printer.

  • Can't print to CD using Epson Print CD with iMac and Mavricks

I just got a new iMac to replace my older MacBook.
Both systems have the latest version of Mavericks 10.9.5. and the latest Epson printer driver for my Artisan 730. On the iMac when I try to print to a CD using Epson Print CD I am unable to select the media type like I can on the MacBook. On the iMac the selection is grayed out and I cannot select anything from it. See screen shot below.
On the MacBook for Media Type I can select CD but on the iMac as you can see is grayed out. I can't figure out why.  I have looked at the Epson support pages and I found no help there. So I am trying here to see if someone can help me out.
    Why can't I select a media type?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I might as well tell you now, but it has been found that CDs last longer that are not printed or labeled on. And drives are able to better handle disks with no labels. Use jewelcases with inserts to keep track of what's on a CD or DVD. It is not a direct answer to your question, but I have a CD printing printer, the Epson R220, and I won't use the CD labeler. Here's an interesting report on this:
    http://www.macintouch.com/cdrfailure.html
If you must do it, and you don't care about the longevity of your disks, make sure that the tray's rear entrance is not blocked. People who have put Epson Photo R220's against walls have had the same error you are getting.

  • Printing Wirelessly from MBPro to Cannon Pixma 480

    Hello,
Prints fine if connected via USB but not otherwise.
My iMac G4 even prints to printer wirelessly if printer is connected to MBP.
Searched thoroughly through Canon help that came with printer but nothing states how to print wirelessly.
    MBP - OSx 10.5.4
    thanks,
    Al

If you connect a printer to a Mac via USB, you need to turn on Printer Sharing in the Sharing control pane on that computer, and that computer needs to be on and awake for other computers on the same network to be able to see the printer and print to it over the network. This seems to be what you are trying to do.
You can connect some USB printers to some routers, including Airport Base Stations and Time Capsules, which have USB ports in them for the purpose. The routers have print server capabilities and you can print to them with only the printer and router turned on. This requires the printer and the router and the software all to be compatible.
Then there are network printers, which have networking built in. They may be connected to the network through Ethernet or WiFi, depending on the interface in the printer. This is the most reliable way of sharing a printer among several computers, but you need the proper hardware.
I hope one of these scenarios will work for your situation, and that you will understand why it is important to know exactly the connection method and hardware you are using.

  • Want to print wirelessly from macbook pro to wired PC and printer

Want to print wirelessly from macbook pro to wired PC and printer using wireless router.
I am having trouble setting this up? help? suggestions?

    > Printer is showing its location as a direct connection via USB
But it's on the PC right ? So it's a shared network printer with a Spooler (this is how it should be configured using Prnter Setup Utility ...)
    > If I click to run dic utility there are no clickable options... only lists calculate image checksum.
Once Disc Utility is launched, select your local hard drive then the [Repair Permissions] button bottom left will light up.

Can I set up multiple usb hard drives- one for time machine and a second for media?
    Yes.
Can one also print wirelessly with an old HP C6280 printer?
Possibly by using an Airport Express, but depends on what type of port connection the printer requires.

  • How do I set up my PowerBook to print wireless with HP psc 2410

Can someone tell me how to set up my PowerBook to
print wireless with my HP psc 2410 all-in-one?
What do I need to do?
I checked ifelx list and check out ok for my model.
    Thanks,
    Kes
    PowerBook G4 15 1.67GHz 10.4.2 512MB AirPort Extreme; iMac G4 20 1.25GHz Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Ensure that the Airport base station is configured to not distribute IP addresses.
    On the iMac
System Preferences > Sharing > Printer Sharing
    On the PowerBook
Applications > Utilities > Printer Setup Utility
    Add Printer
It may work with the HP driver (which you will need to install on the PowerBook)
It may work with a third-party driver such as the HPIJS drivers or the Gimp-Print drivers, but this is not the case with all printers.

  • I cannot get my HP OfficeJet 6700 to print wireless with my macbook Pro, I cannot get my HP OfficeJet 6700 to print wireless with my macbook Pro

I cannon get my HP OfficeJet 6700 to print wireless with my Macbook Pro?  Any suggestions?

Just found a solution to this problem via HP technical support by changing my Officejet 6700's dynamic IP address to a static IP address:

After making these changes and rebooting my printer immediately started working again.

  • My HP dv4-2045dx won't print wirelessly with my HP Officejet 6500 E709n

My HP Pavillion laptop won't print wirelessly with my HP All In One printer.  It will print if it is hooked up, and the printer works wirelessly with my other computer.  I've uninstalled the printer and updated the drivers.  The print wizard goes through all of the steps to configure wirelessly, finds my printer, tries to connect, and fails at the last minute each time.  I believe it may have something to do with the fact that I also can't scan to my laptop.
P.S. It used to print wirelessly.  I have no idea what changed.

  • HT1338 problems with Mac Book 10.7.5 printing wirelessly with HP Photosmart 6510e.  I must turn off then turn back on for Mac to print.

HP Photosmart prints with PC, Droid phone but will only print wirelessly with MacBook OX 10.7.5 if I turn off printer and turn it back on.  HP has tried, Belkin (router) has opened all ports, the problem persists.

That is great, but I recommend channel 11 instead of 10.

  • How do I get my computer to print wireless with HP6600

I have tried to get my computer to print wireless with the HP6600.  I have tried all the trouble shooting things and still does not work.  The printer is contected to the wireless network.  I can print from my phone and Ipad fine without a problem.

@ minipinny26 -  When you downloaded the drivers and attempted to install the software I am guessing the software could not find the printer.  Is this correct?
If so, then did you try a power cycle on the circuit?
    * Unplug router and wait 30 seconds
    * Plug router back in and wait for it to completely repower up
    * Restart the PC
    * While the PC is restarting: Unplug the printer while the unit is on
    * Wait 30 seconds and plug the printer back up for power
Can the software find the printer at this point?
If not, then can you ping the printer?
    * Open the Command Prompt screen by typing CMD in the Run command box
    * Type ping followed by the ip address of the printer.
Also, take a look at the steps in the document found here.  Let me know what happens.

  • Why can't I print wireless with Time Capsule anymore?

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1280 that I have been printing wireless with for many years by plugging it in to the USB port on the back of the Time Capsule. Not anymore.
I have a MacBook Pro running the latest OS as well as the latest model Time Capsule running the latest software from Apple. I have tried using Airport Utility 5.6 which sees the printer plugged in. But when I try to add the printer to the Print & Scan system preferences, it shows up but says:
Software for this printer is available from Apple. Would you like to download and install it?
When I click "Download and Install" it searches for the software but then tells me:
The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer’s manufacturer for the latest software.
When I plug the printer directly into my MBP, I can add the printer and print without any problems.  Per Epson, I have the latest software for my printer, so I'm not sure why Apple needs to search for the software and download it in order for me to print using the Time Capsule.
Like I said before, this all use to work flawlessly. I'm assuming all the updates have "broken" something.
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

    Well, I solved my problem.
I deleted the EPSON folder in Library/Printers as well as Library/Cache and installed the EPSON driver via Softwar Update.
    Everything is working fine now.

  • Is Samsung Galaxy 4 compatible with iMac and other Apple products?

Is Samsung Galaxy 4 compatible with iMac and other Apple products?

Yes, the s4 is compatible with music and photo transfers between your imac.  I don't have experience with the cloud, but it should be the exact same thing.
Now, there will be a few differences between how you get the files onto said device.  With the iPhone, you may be able to do it wirelessly, but with the s4 you will have to plug it in.
The s4 will not work with iLife or iLife applications either.  However, bigger screen, more customizable ui and experience with samsung phones personally, I would recommend the s4 over the iPhone 5.
    Finally iMac

  • Can I use iCloud on my computer? I want to back up my iMac and restore it since it is running so slow.

can I use iCloud on my computer? I want to back up my iMac and restore it since it is running so slow.

You need to be running Lion (10.7.x) to have iCloud run. Here are the system requirements for Lion:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory (4GB strongly recommended)
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
If your current iMac has 4GB of RAM then you can upgrade to Lion via the Mac App store and then use iCloud. However iCloud is not a backup system so please read up on what iCloud is designed for. To backup your system really all you need is an external HD and you can use Time Machine which is built into your system. Here is the Time Machine Tutorial to learn how to start.
