Want to provide link to FMCore issue with Suitcase Fusion

For those having issues with FMCore not starting after a crash on a MacBookPro, causing your Suitcase Fusion to stop working (and generally all your software after that), here is a link to the instructions.
For me, I've been able to get both the section of answer to work, and then today I had to go to the second set and it worked. Thankfully my computer doesn't crash much, but it is frustrating to spend 40mins of valuable time trying to fix it. Figured I might as well post the link here.

Chris, either way, CC 2014.2 is crashing regardless of Suitcase Fusion. Isn't it a known issue? Work around isn't working. Photoshop CC 2014.2 crashes when opening a file with missing fonts

I want to buy a new Macbook pro 15", but I don't like Lion, I want Leopard installed, is there any issues with drivers or any other I should be aware of?

Hello, I've tried Lion from the day they released to last week I got my computer formated and with leopard again, on my iMac 24" from early 2009 2.9 Ghz core 2 duo, and I have installed 8 Gb of memory, and i have some complains about it, there are some cosmetic issues but mostly I'm concerned about issues bellow the hood, as I'm a stock trader and I depend completly from my computer's performance, let me explain:
    Superficial issues:
    1. They took off "spaces" and I liked it.
    2. I dont use the magic mouse, I need a more accurate mouse for my charts, and it seems they built the entire OS assuming you would use the magic mouse for gestures, scroll, etc to try to mimic in some way the Ipad and Iphone functions, but what if you arent using it like me?
    3. I never used that little rocket icon that makes all your apps appear and that could be one of the "improvements on Lion", at first sight it looks nice and slick, but if you try to use it and make it part of your daily use, you would find it is useless, it is a pain to try to arrange it the way you like it, so I rather use the spotlight to search for my apps, its faster.
    Now the MOST important, 'performance':
    1. It completly suffocate my computers hardware Leopard much more lighter, beggining from the start up that taked almost 1/3 or twice the time, and I think Lion has some bugs bellow the hood, i was doing my normal stuff, some apps running and everything, and suddenly I started to feel the computer a little slow, safari taking forever to open the pages for example, and I opened the activity monitor to see what was going on, and it was there, I was using 4 or 5 gb from my memory, and CPU making insane peaks, and Im using 2.46 gb as im writing it doing exactly the same stuff, (but Im happily using Leopard now), and it wasnt once, as i told before, I used lion since the day they released it and happened several times until it drove me nutts. But leopard not problem in that regard at all, Never.
hope this helps, and hope some apple guys read that because lion resulted in a big disappointment for me.

  • CS4 with Suitcase Fusion

Considering purchasing CS4. Am using OSX 10.4.1 with Suitcase Fusion 12.1.6.
Any font issues with CS4 (especially InDesign & Illustrator).

The only issue I am aware of is how thoroughly crappy Suitcase has been for years. The new version of Fusion might be non-crappy, but I'd bet against that. My biggest issue with SF lately is constant conflict errors when I activate Helvetica Neue T1, since the dfont version is installed in the OS. I hope to convince the keepers of the purse to upgrade out fonts to OTF, which will probably solve the problem.
If you can, I suggest using Linotype Font Explorer. Its' free, much easier to use than Suitcase, has excellent preview features, and the auto-activation is tops.

  • Indesign Link Issues after Suitcase Fusion 3 update

    Hi Guys,
    First time poster here...
I installed the latest Suitcase Fusion 3 update this morning and ever since my indesign CS5.5 links panel has been acting strangly!
I'm opening .indd files and the links to placed files are missing, no biggy there, I just re-link them and everything is good... until I hit save, as soon as I hit save the links show the error icon again in the links panel.
    Anybody got any ideas???
    Thanks very much

  • Issue with VM fusion 4 after mountain lion upgrade

I have upgraded OS to Mountain Lion and continue to use VMWARe Fusion 4 to run Windows 7 for Office programs.
However, unity feature no longer works. Programs will open in unity view but can not use them. Can only use programs if switch to full screen or single window view. Is there a compatibility issue with the upgrade? If so what is the fix?

Found this solution from another user and it worked for me.
No clean install was necessary. In System Preferences uncheck all items in iCloud. From the Finder menu click >Option Go which shows the Home Library Folder in the pull down menu. Open the Folder Application Support find the Folder Address Book and Trash it with all its content.
Return to the System Prefs re-activate Contacts and Mail and  on launch Contacts are added correctly from iCloud and sending a message in Mail works normal with names presented in the To field from Contacts.

  • Fonts not available in IDCC2014, with Suitcase Fusion 5 or 6

I have opened and worked a InDesign CC2014 doc. Everything is fine. The next day I attempt to open the doc again with the same fonts installed and they come up missing. I try several Macs, (different OSs), different versions of Suitcase Fusion including the latest and I get the same issue. Cleared font cache, restarted, etc to no avail. Any ideas? This has happened over the years occasionally, and has seemed to happen recently on a few occasions.
    Thanks

That's a large part of the problem. You have more than one font manager on your Mac. If you're not using Font Book, delete it. Then you need to reset its orphaned database so OS X stops trying to control which fonts are, or aren't active according to that data.
To remove Font Book from the hard drive, follow these steps:
    1) Open Font Book, and then its preferences. Uncheck the box for "Alert me if system fonts change". Close the preferences and shut down Font Book. Put the Font Book application in the trash and delete it.
    2) Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding it until OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally.
This will reset Font Book's database and clear the cache files in your user account. The main goal in this step is to remove the orphaned Font Book database from the hard drive. With the Font Book application no longer on the hard drive, a new one cannot be created. Which is what we want.
    3) Close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window:
    sudo atsutil databases -remove
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and all user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.

  • CC 2014.2 Crashes at file startup with Suitcase Fusion

Even with workaround of opening the file manually within Photoshop, CC 2014.2 continues to crash. The only way I've gotten around the issue is to manually activate my fonts then open the document. Is Adobe aware that the workaround is broken?

  • Want to upgrade to CS6, but issue with AVCHD scrubbing might stop me

I've been using the Adobe Creative Suite for years and really love it. The last version I stuck to was CS5. Premiere Pro CS5 had no problems scrubbing my AVCHD footage (mts wrapper from GH2 cameras) and I wanted to upgrade to CS5.5 when this became available. Then a problem occured: although the project files (old and new) loaded a lot quicker than before, it was no longer possible to scrub through the footage. The lag was just incredible and I can see (and hear) my drives go mad as I try to scrub through the footage. I assume this is because certain things are no longer loaded at the opening of the project, but just when you look at the footage on a timeline.
I hoped the issue would have been fixed in CS6, but after a colleague kindly installed the software for a few days on my machine (spare licence he had, since been uninstalled), it is clear that it is still impossible to use. WHY?
I'm happy to upgrade some of my system to try and make this work, but I need to know what the problem. My current set-up is (no longer) cutting edge, but hardly bottom of the pile either. Any advice would be appreciated.
    Current Spec:
    6 core AMD processor 3.6Ghz
    8 GB of ram
    Nvidia GT440 card (cuda enabled)
MTS files and project files are on a 2TB raid 0 (though windows 7, not dedicated card) (2 drives 1TB each 7200RPM sata 3)
    Thanks for any help.
PS: I tried with and without cuda, moved the media cache to other drive, disabled sound whn scrubbing,... pretty much everything

    Niels,
I've seen them and will add them to the results page later today.
You end up around rank #630, somewhat as expected. Your disk score is quite acceptable and reflects your raid setup. However, your MPEG score is disappointing, but that may be attributed to only 8 GB memory and the relatively meager GT 440 card. However, in comparison with other Phenom II X6 systems, nothing really stands out.
Your dilemma to improve the scrubbing behaviour is twofold: You are hindered by the slowness of the Phenom II X6, and whatever you will upgrade, but keeping the AMD CPU will only marginally improve performance. If you really want to improve performance you need a completely new Intel based system, but that is costly, requiring a new CPU, mobo and memory.
Upgrading memory does not look attractive, since it will not really help performance and is not portable to a new Intel system.
The only things that can help IMO and that can be ported to a new system in the future are extra disks and a better video card. I would start with additional disks, see if that solves the scrubbing issues. If that still is not enough, you can consider upgrading the video card to a GTX 670 or even a GTX 560 Ti if your PSU can handle it.

  • Opening a legacy file in CC2014, the fonts in the file (which are loaded and accessible with Suitcase Fusion 6), won't display. I get the [Jensen text] font name indicating a missing font file. YET, when I make a new file, the fonts are available. Any ide

Okay, that was a long title. Sorry about that.
Longer version now. The font Janson Text is an old Type 1 Postscript font. If I make a new document in InDesign CC2014, this font is completely available to me. HOWEVER, if I open a legacy file that uses this same font, it shows up with the usual pink highlighting.
I know the font is available to InDesign, because I made a new test document and set type with it.
If I try using the Type > Find Font.. option to replace the 'missing' typefaces, InDesign won't let me, not recognizing the font that I just used in the new test document.
I just tried exporting the defective file as an IDML file, then opening the IDML file. The font is now working properly.
This is a real problem, as the file I'm trying to open is a book that we need to reprint. I now have to go through it page by page to see if any linebreaks have changed.
    WHAT CAUSES THIS, please?

There is one way its getting fixed. Once I update my Adobe Illustrator CC to Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 it is further allowing me to go into the system folder and allocate the font to the file so that it can replace it. My only concern now is that our MAC partners who will receive these files back from us have Adobe CS6. We will down save it to CS6 but I hope they won't experience any font issues because of us using CC 2014? Any light you can shed on this?

  • InDesign CC crashes with Suitcase Fusion 5-16.0.4

After upgrading Extensis Suitcase Fusion 5 from 16.0.2 to 16.0.4, InDesign CC (latest version) crashes just after launch.
It seems that it comes from the Suicase font activation plugin.
Does anyone have the same trouble? Or anyone have the same configuration without trouble?

    I had same problem.
After deleting Cache it was working again.
Remove following Folder, it gets recreated when you restart InDesign.
    ~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/Version 9.0

  • Issues with web browsers

Over the past week or so, I have gradually been encountering issues with all three of the browsers that I have installed on all my Apple computers.
I have the following three browsers installed:
    Safari (version 5.1.5)
    Firefox (version 11.0)
    Google Chrome (Version (17.0.963.83)
    On all the following computers:
iMac 2.8 Ghz, Intel Core 2 Duo running OS X (10.5.8)
    iMac 2.66GHz Intel Core i5 running OS X (10.6.8)
MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 running OS X (10.6.8)
It seems that the issues are more noticeable when accessing sites like Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Yahoo or Yahoo Mail... (which makes me wonder if the issues are possibly linked to Flash?) Either the sites don't load or load partially (always quite slowly) and I keep having to refresh/reload the page to hopefully get the full pages to load. But even that doesn't get me anywhere most of the time and I am left with blank pages or partially loaded pages. Today I also noticed issues while trying to use Skype where I kept having connection issues. Not sure if those were linked to the issues with the browsers.
FYI, I keep all my Mac computers and applications up to date with automatic updates and am not sure whether these issues are Mac related, application/browser related or even possibly ISP related? Although when trying to assess my ISP connection speed via speedtest.net it appears to connect at the normal usual rate, both for download (about 13 Mb/s) and upload (about 6 Mb/s) from all three computers.
I have not really seen any other similar recent post on the forums here but did find a post where it was recommended to unchecked the box on the info window to open both Safari and Firefox in 32-bit mode, but it didn't fix anything for me.
I've never had issues with these computers before and they were all running perfectly fine when accessing the internet about a week ago. I am not using any anti-virus software on any of the three computers and I have not installed any new software or made any changes to the computers recently other than scheduled updates. They are all working fine when using applications (MS Word or Excel, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom...) not accessing the internet.
Anyone else has experienced similar issues? Anyone know of a solution? Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!
    Laurent

    Hi Laurent ...
Try troubleshooting the Flash plugin ...
    Quit all your browsers.
Now uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
(Use Safari for a test). Launch Safari From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
    Now try a video.
BTW... if you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
When it comes to browsers, emptying the cache more often can help.
    For all your Macs.
Use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, includes anti phishing filters, and it's free.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
    Click +
Enter these numbers exactly as you see them here.
    208.67.222.222
    Click +
    208.67.220.220
    Then click OK.
    More about OpenDNS here.

  • Font issues with CC 9.2

Hi there. I'm on Maverick (OS 10.9.1) with Suitcase Fusion 5 (latest version) and was having difficulty loading a Postscript font (ITC Garamond family) to use in InDesign (or Illustrator or Photoshop). Have used this font in InDesign for the past few years (one magazine). I searched on-line and finally found the same issue. The fix was to place that font inside the InDesign Fonts folder, however being a designer with over 10,000 fonts, I need to know if this is a Suitcase issue or Adobe Cloud issue?

You can try to manage the fonts with the excellent Llinotype Font explorer

  • Suitcase Fusion/Photoshop Font Issue

I have Photoshop CS5.5 with Suitcase Fusion 15.0.5. When I use any kind of typeface in a Photoshop file it appears jagged. When I rasterized the type, the edges are still jagged. It does display the correct font and not defaulting to a generic one. It is just that the curved edges are bad.
I am to figure out if this is a Photoshop or Suitcase issue. I have reinstalled the suitcase plugin, no change. Reset Photoshop to it's defaults. My other apps (e.g. Adobe, Apple and Microsoft), the fonts look great.

What's the ppi resolution of your files?  What type of file format?
Once rasterized, text in Photoshop is no longer vector.  Unless you have a very high ppi resolution, text is bound to appear jagged.
Photoshop is not the ideal application for text.
