Want to rebroadcast a login access network through my macbook to airport express

How do i log in to the website based wireless network at my marina on my macbook
then rebroadcast the network via airport express through ethernet?

On your MacBook, open System Preferences on the dock and open Sharing
Click on Internet Sharing...but do not put a check mark in the box yet.
You would want to Share your connection from AirPort
To Computers using Ethernet
Enter a check mark next to Internet Sharing and Turn On Internet Sharing
Configure the Express to create a wireless network in Bridge Mode
50/50 chance at any given time that this will work, but it is worth a try

  • Connecting iMac to Network via Ethernet Cable and Airport Express

I've tried reading through the various posts to solve this and haven't had any luck. Any help is deeply appreciated.
I have an Airport Extreme as my main 'base' for our wireless network. I purchased an Airport Express today with the notion of using it to extend my network in the following way: I want to connect an iMac and a printer to the Express (using Ethernet and USB cables respectively) and have the Express serve as a remote for the Extreme base. I have found a number of websites saying this is possible, but none explain how to. I tried the WDS option, which failed to work. I later saw posts here saying that was not the optimal scenario. I'm afraid the 5Ghz/2.4Ghz settings combined with Airport ID addresses has pushed me past my competency!
Thanks in advance for your help and a festive St. Patrick's Day!

Temporarily, power down the AirPort Express and concentrate on the AirPort Extreme to make sure that it is functioning correctly, can get an Internet connection, etc.
A complete power cycle of the network is often useful when you have been making changes. Power everything off, order is not important.
Wait a moment, (or wait 5-10 minutes if you have cable modem), then power up the modem first and let it run a moment by itself. Then power up the AirPort Extreme the same way.
Check your settings using AirPort Utility - Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab just below the row of icons
If the Wireless Mode setting is "Create a wireless network", make sure there is a check mark next to "Allow this network to be extended"
Note the exact setting for Security that is being used
    Update to save any changes
Post back when the AirPort Extreme is functioning correctly as above and we'll tackle the AirPort Express

  • Can I create a home network withous dsl connection with airport express

can I create a home network without dsl connection with airport express?
So it means I can't connect to my HP Airprint/Wireless printer without exretnal connection through ISP?? Just need to print from my Mac and iphone. I have Vodafone Prepaid connection, which is directly connected to my Mac. Does that make an internal network possible?

You have to set up the Air Port with an internet connection to set up a network. Do you have a modem? If yes you can set up the network.

  • Allow wireless PC to access files on my Mac via airport express - possible?

I currently access the internet wirelessly via an airport express plugged into a netgear router, everything works great.
I also have a spare pc that i would like to be able to access the net wirelessly - it currently doesnt have a wireless card but i figure if i just get a usb unit it should be able to without too many problems as it should just detect my airport network (hopefully anyway).
Befor i go get the card tho, i was wondering if there will be a way to allow me to transfer files between the Mac HD and the PC HD - it wouldnt have to be 2-way, just so i could sit at my mac and send files over to the Pc - is this possible, and if so, a little help in how exactly to set it up would be appreciated!
    cheers!!

using the guide on that page i have managed to
connect to the Mac from the PC, but i am unable to
see the folders on my external hard-drive
You will need to use Sharepoints in order to share the external hard drive.

  • How can I set up a guest WiFi network using Time Capsule and Airport Express extension?

How can I set up a guest WiFi network using Time Capsule and Airport Express extension?

Sorry, but it is not possible to "extend" the Guest Network using either wireless or an Ethernet connection.

  • Extending home wireless network with 802.11b/g Airport Expresses

    Home Setup: iMac with iSight G5 2.1GHz PPC, OS X Leopard 10.5.8, 2.5GB memory, 2 Airport expresses-802.11b/g.
Up to just recently, I was able to use my AE's to create a whole house wireless network: one as my main network connected to my cable modem, and the other as a wireless network extender. My extender got pulled out one day accidentally, and when I went to plug it in it wouldn't reconnect to my network...and so the problems began. Airport Utility used to give the option of "Extending the Wireless Network", but no more.
I've done a lot of searching through the forums regarding this issue, read through the sage advice by superusers Tesserax and Bob Timmons, and attempted to set up my main AE as my "WDS Main" AE and the other as my "WDS Remote". The WDS main connects fine to the internet, but the WDS remote continues to show a flashing amber light and inability to extend my wireless network. I've done soft and hard resets to the remote AE (which transiently gives me a green light, then back to flashing amber), network diagnostics using the Airport utility, but still no luck. The AE wireless extender continues to flash amber and is nonfunctional.
    AE Wireless extender settings reported:
-WIreless Mode: Create a wireless network
    -Connect using: Ethernet
    AE Errors reported:
    -Ethernet Unplugged
    -Default Settings
I setup the AE Wireless extender as a WDS Remote, it resets and shows "Normal" without problems reported in the summary window of Airport Utility. Connection indicated as "Airport (WDS)" and Wireless Mode reads "participate in a WDS network", but the AE is still flashing amber and will not connect to the internet or Main WDS wireless network.
Went to the Genius Bar at the local mac store...they couldn't help at all.
    I'm out of answers...help?!

There are basically two "flavors" of WDS that the AirPorts support: static & dynamic.
o A static WDS allows for a main, relay, and remote base stations in the configuration. This only operates in the 802.11g radio mode. Its advantage is it is well suited when you are trying to cover a considerable linear range ... like a rectangular house where the Internet connection comes in at one of the shorter sides and you want wireless at the other end. The biggest disadvantage of this type of WDS is that for every base station added, you lose half the overall bandwidth.
o A dynamic WDS allows for only a single main and multiple remotes. Think of a wheel with the main at the center and the remotes as spokes of the wheel. The advantage of this type of WDS is it operates in the 802.11n radio mode and doesn't suffer a significant bandwidth loss like the static version.
As a minimum, a dynamic WDS requires two 802.11n AirPorts (or Time Capsules). You can create a static WDS with either all 802.11g AirPorts or a mix of 802.11n & 802.11g AirPorts. Note; however, you cannot create a dynamic WDS with mixed mode base stations.

  • Ethernet apple tv 2? Can I use the enthernet port on the apple tv to connect other non wifi item to my wifi network? Much like a Airport express?

Is anyone using the apple tv 2 to connect other items to a home wifi network through the apple tvs ethernet port? I know you can use airport express to do this and I am already else where at home. Is this even possible? Can you run The HDMI cable to your tv and the optical cable to sound system at the same time?

Is anyone using the apple tv 2 to connect other items to a home wifi network through the apple tvs ethernet port?
ATV2 has no router capabilities - it is a client device.
Can you run The HDMI cable to your tv and the optical cable to sound system at the same time?
    yes.

  • Connection an Iomega Network Hard Drive to an Airport Express Network

I am trying to hook up my hard drive to my network. My network consists of an airport express, which I use as my base station hooked up to my cable modem and another airport express which acts as a wireless relay station. My Iomega Ethernet Network hard drive (300Gb) is hooked up to the Ethernet port of the remote base station.
When I initially installed the drive and ran the Iomega discovery software I found the drive. I then transferred data to the drive and then closed the connection.
I then installed on my computer the apple programs Ilife and Iwork, which should not have an effect I would imagine. However, now when I try to run the discovery program it crashes. I have reinstalled the program and it still crashes. I also don't see the drive on my network. However, if I use the netstat program I can see the drive on my router table, it has an IP address and I can ping it. However, I don't see it when I browse the network.
Is there any way to connect to the drive without using the Iomega discovery program and does anyone know if there is any known conflicts with the discovery software and ilife or iwork.
    Thanks

    Powerbook G4 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   2 Airport Express stations

By the way, I have managed to figure out the problem. It turns out that the discovery software that comes with the Iomega network hard drive does not appear to work. After calling customer service at Iomega, they directed me to look at the routing table in network utility to get the IP address assigned to the network drive. Then using my internet browser to login to the drive by entering the IP address as the URL. This worked and there was a html page on the hard drive that allowed me configure the drive.

  • Time capsule functionality through a wireless connection (Airport Express)

    Hi all,
I've searched through quite some topics though i did nog find an answer to this probably easy question. Either it was to technical for me or i just did'n look that good...
Can i connect a time capsule through an existing wireless network (newly bought airport express) and use all functionality from the TC? For example the dual network possibility. (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), connecting the TC to a printer via USB, connecting desktop computer through an ethernet connection. etc, etc,
So the set up would be the following:
    1. Airport express downstairs connected to the modem from the internet provider
    2. Upstairs 2nd floor, TC wireless connected to the airport express.
    Hope you can help!
    grt Walter, (from the netherlands)

Your express is a G wireless model and not compatible with the N wireless TC.
You can use it but only by using it with ethernet and setting it up as AP.. you also need to use 5.6 utility not v6.. apple removed support for G wireless devices from v6.
    LOL..
    I was 2min late.

  • Can I extend an O2 router network AND stream to an Airport Express?

I'd like to put an AE upstairs so I can use AirPlay from my Mac to both the downstairs AppleTV and the upstairs Airport Express at the same time.
Also, I'd like the Airport Express to act as a Wi-Fi Network extender for the O2 router that's downstairs.
    Is this configuration possible?

I'd like to put an AE upstairs so I can use AirPlay from my Mac to both the downstairs AppleTV and the upstairs Airport Express at the same time.
The AirPort Express will work for this if it can receive a good quality wireless signal where it will be located.
Also, I'd like the Airport Express to act as a Wi-Fi Network extender for the O2 router that's downstairs.
The "extend" feature appears to be a proprietary function with Apple products. It is extremely unlikely that it will work with the O2 router. As far as we know, this feature only works among Apple products.

  • MacBook can't find network printers or servers via Airport Express

My MacBook won't see my Laserjet 6MP (connected thru JetDirect) using either Appletalk (active on Airport but not on Ethernet) or IP Printing (via LDP). I just updated to 10.4.6 and it still doesn't work. I'm using an Airport Express which is connected to an office ethernet network via Belkin Router.
I do get a good internet connection but interestingly enough, when I try to see the other computers on the network, they don't show up in the "Network" window. However, if I type in their IP addresses in the "connect to server" window, they show up just fine. I get the same results on an iBook G3 (which connects to everything properly when I use a hardwire Ethernet instead of Airport).
Any idea what might be going on?

SUCCESS! I just got off the phone with one of the head printer engineers at Hewlett Packard. The basic problem was that BOTH the Belkin router and the Airport Express were supplying IP addresses via DHCP and they were fighting with each other. Using Airport Admin Utitlity, I turned off "Distribute IP Adresses" in the Network Tab. Basically, this turns the Airport Express into a repeater for the Ethernet router.
Now the MacBook is getting it's IP address from the Ethernet router, as is the printer, and everything is fine. All computerS, wired and wireless, can see each other in the network browser and print to all the printers.

  • Broadband Speed through Time Capsule or Airport Express.

    Dear forum.
Question about broadbandspeeds via wireless. Does it has speed limitations in relation to cable.
I have a Timecapsule and 2 pcs. the Airport Express to extend the wireless network. I have cable my iMac via Time Capsule, and this can have max. download speed of 44000 kbit/s and upload at 40000 kbit/s. When I do a speed test via wireless on my 3 laptops (Windows) and iphone, so I do not get more than 18,000 kbit/s download and 18000 kbit/s upload. Is there anyone who can tell me if Time C. and Airport E. can be modified to run the same speed as cable or is that just a limitation here. I've been looking like crazy but could not find an answer here on.
    Thank you in advance .
    Henrik

Hello H Salk. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Enabling NAT on any Internet router, not just the AirPort & Time Capsule, will affect data transfer rates (in both directions) to devices connected either by wire or wireless to that router.

  • Sharing a usb 4G connection through a macbook and airport extreme

Currently the only 4G LTE modems for sale are of the usb type. I would like to share a 4g connection with a group of people. Is there any way I could use a 4G LTE usb modem from verizon to share internet with a bunch of people through wifi, possibly using an airport extreme?

    Hi,
The easiest way is probably to look for a dedicated mobile broadband router. An alternative solution involving an AirPort Extreme base station would require a special adapter for the connection of a USB modem to the WAN Ethernet port.
    See, for example:
    http://www.cradlepoint.com/
    http://www.dovado.com/
Whether a mobile broadband router or a special adapter, always make sure that there is support for the exact USB modem type and the network in question.

  • Wireless Network w/o router or airport express/extreme, etc?

Hi. I have been playing with my powerbook and a friend w/ his powerbook...and we were wondering if we might make a wireless connection between the two computers with only the resources available within the two computers?
Both have airport cards and bluetooth. Do you need to have a router or hub or can this be done without?
Many thanks to all who contribute here.

    17" Powerbook 1.67   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I had a chance to create a "computer to computer network" and did not see what I expected....and would like further advice/feedback.
After I had created a network, my friend saw it listed under his airport pulldown menu and chose it.
We both had little monitor icons appear in the airport pulldown menu icon and all looked good.
I opened a finder window and expected to see one or both of two things:
    1) his hard drive listed in the side bar
    or
    2) his hard drive listed in the Network directory
    Neither happened.
We both launched iTunes and made sharing functional...and were both able to see each other's play lists as available to be chosen. I was able to choose his and receive his full listing of songs on my iTunes player...BUT...when he chose mine, he was ultimately unable to get a listing of my songs and got a message telling us to check proper firewall allowance and configuration of port 3689. We checked this and it had been correct.
    My questions are:
    1) Shouldn't I see his hard drive in my sidebar as it would appear if he had joined my local hard-wired network?
    2) Shouldn't I see his hard drive in my Network directory in the sidebar as it would appear if he had joined my local hard-wired network?
    3) If the answers to 1 & 2 are YES, then....what do I do to troubleshoot this or correct it? .....check some Sharing preference or box?
    4) If the answers to 1& 2 are NO, then what should I expect to see...and what can I do with the connection....how is it different or the same as when someone plugs into my router with an ethernet cable and joins my local network?
Thanks again for all help here.

  • Don't dowload airport utility 6.0 if your network is using old tethered airport expresses.   Download   Airport Utility 5.6 instead

Watch  out for the new airport utility software update 6.0 if your   airport express has  any old hardware on it . It will no longer be supported .  Plus it requires Lion  to  work ( Lion is not expensive to buy /download from App Store.)   Good news though is that  Apple has created   5. 6   that can be downloaded  and will still allow you to tether (via  ethernet cables) old  airport express  units.
