back in the day (1995) i used to have a program called Studiovision Pro with digidesign Session 8 and Digidesign SampleCell. and used to map my voice over the keyboard in different pitches for play back as a midi instrument in the Studiovision sequencer....
I am not looking for pitch changes this time- just trying to see if GB can at least record my voice (without pitch changing via the music keyboard) ...
just want to record my voice and trigger it several times in a song at the same pitch.
I think you answered my ?..... I think what you said will work.. sounds logical....

You just need to adjust two default settings:
Turn off the metronome and count-in in song settings.
Set the Song setting section length to auto.
You can now record a section without it being prematurely stopped.
GarageBand has can record a maximum 320 measures (bars). At the slowest metronome setting of 40bpm and with a time signature setting of 4/4 (the maximum beats per measure) this gives a theoretical maximum of 32 minutes recording time.

I have a multitude of music tracks that I would now like to lay a voice track over and perhaps video record it as well. Is Garageband is the best way to do this (in ILIFE) and if so, how?

drop the file into GB's timeline, then create another track on which to record your vocals. you can use the internal mic to get started:

GB does not record video, but you can drop a video file into the GB timeline

I need a digital voice recorder best suited for recording my voice for chorus and quartet rehearsals

I'm looking for a small digital Sony voice recorder best suited for recording singing for chorus and quartet rehearsals. I received model ICD-AX412 but don't think that's the right one for this. I found a couple other models PCMD50 and PCMM10 online but want to know what to get!

Welcome to Sony Community.
When recording a chorus place the IC recorder on a table approximately 2 to 3 meters (80 to 120 in.) from the performer(s).
Set up the IC recorder with the display window facing up, and with the built-in microphones pointing towards the sound source.
Refer to page # 34 of the Manual (ICD-AX412) about placing the IC Recorder for recording chorus.
Also, select the Recording scene as “Lecture” for recording a chorus lesson.
You can refer to page # 32 and 33 of the Manual to select the recording scene.

... frankly I am finding this software VERY confusing... I tried to use a search for the same subject, but the discussions don't seem to lead me to a simple answer. Does anyone have any input ? I can get as far as clicking 'real instrument', then after that...good luck! I ALWAYS start our with a piano track.... not anything vocal...

How can I record my voice on iMovie without needing to place a photo or video in?

I'm trying to make an anime review. But before placing photos in it, I wanted to record my voice first before adding pictures in it. So I was wondering what do I do to actually get my voice in it without it being cut because there were no photos or videos placed in? (I use a macbook)

You could insert a bunch of placeholders in the timeline before doing the voiceover.
You can find a range of placeholders (they are actually templates used in iMovie Trailers) in the Maps, Backgrounds & Animatics browser. This is the last browser at the end of the centre toolbar, after the Titles and Transitions browsers. Click on it and scroll down to see all the animatics (aka placholders or templates). Drag a number of these into your project timeline - as many as you think you need to cover your audio.
When you've finished the voiceover, drag photos directly onto the animatics and select Replace from the pop-up menu. Adjust the timing by using the Inspector (double-click a photo to open the Inspector, then change the duration).

Hmm interesting ones, I've never programmed sound using Java myself, but have you looked at http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/sound/programmer_guide/contents.html ? It seems like a good doco to get started

get the latest record from an internal table.
if you are using function module RH_READ_INFTY_1001 then <itab
> will always contain all the records betweebn specified period (taken from selection screen), but to retrieve the latest, sort the records by ENDDA and you will get it on top, then use INDEX 1 for that record only, and store the record in a <work_area>, finally get that record from <work_area> to <itab> it self. thats way your <itab> will hold only latest record.
(you can store <work_area> in <work_area_2> and then pass the record in to <itab>
or, you can store the <work_area> to a different <itab_2>).
   call function RH_READ_INFTY_1001
   tables
      i1001         = it_hrp1001
sort it_hrp1001 by endda descending.
read table it_hrp1001 into wa_hrp1001 INDEX 1.
refresh it_hrp1001.

You have two basic options. One is to use a commercial screen recording app with access to system audio built into the app and the other is to add a system extension like SoundFlower that allows the QT X screen recorder to access/record the system audio. I use the former so I am not that familiar with SoundFlower but there should be several posts to this forum covering this topic.

There is no microphone to the bottom left, Just bottom right. And when I touch it it says "tap and hold to record and send audio." That is exactly how I do. To want my text messaging to operate.

Silent Monitor and Call record with voice vlan

We are pretty new to CCX, and want to get silent monitor and call recording working. I've read a bunch of troubleshooting docs, and a bunch of the discussions here, but I am still unable to get it to work the way that I want.
Heres the setup. The phones are all set to the recommended settings, and the agent pc is plugged into the phone. The data vlan is 111 and the voice vlan is 222. When I run the nicq prog on the agent pc, it can not find the phone, but I can enter the ip in , and it sees the phone. The supervisor laptop can not monitor or record.
If I change the voice vlan to 111, nicq still can not find the phone, but the supervisor can record and monitor with no problem. Is is an issue with 802.1q and perhaps my nics do not support it?

It could be, but it's pretty rare.
Have you enabled 'PC Port Voice VLAN Access' and 'SPAN to PC Port' on the phone?
Have you tried alternate PCs/laptops on the back of that phone?

open garageband, select new project, click on any track (piano,etc,) when the window opens, drop down track and delete the track that is there. Then drop down track and select basic track
go to system prefs>soundselect input, select internal mic, and use the slider for level control.
go to out put and check mute to keep from feeding back.
unclick output mute to lisyen to platback
youcan then burn to disc under share, or send it to Itunes, and burn a disc or put it on a flashdrive

Ok sorry to bug ya again but if I use the voice memos app if I have the screen locked and just on my belt clip on my side of my pants will it still pick up the authors voice and do I need to have all the volume turned all the way up for it or do I get the app u said for better sound?
