Want to remove quicktime and keep Itunes

Hi all -
Quicktime on Windows is one the worst pieces of software I have ever experienced. I just want it removed from my pc, but the problem is that I like Itunes, and Itunes requires Quicktime to run. Is there a way around this?
I have to remove Quicktime because it somehow keeps hijacking my file associations and it breaks flash (read: youtube) every time it does this. After editing Quicktime Preferences this fixes it, but for some reason Quicktime grabs the associations again after every Apple update, which is annoying as ****. Is there any way to remove it and keep Itunes working??

iTunes needs Quicktime to run. The earliest version of Quicktime that the latest version of iTunes will work with is 7.1.6. I'm currently using Quicktime 7.3.1. I can't watch some videos from the iTunes store, but music plays fine which is all I need. Using 7.3.1 also means some vulnerabilities won't be patched. I don't go to sketchy Web sites, and I always use a regular user account for daily computing instead of an Administrator account.

What file system format is the iPod formatted with? FAT32? To check, right->click on your iPod's from under Computer and choose Properties.
Have you tried to reformat it yet to see if that resolves the issue?

Remove the check mark next to Sync Movies from under your iPod's Movies tab. Then configure your iPod to sync whatever content you wish from under its Music tab. Then apply the changes to your iPod/resync it.

1) Create a role by inserting the profile S_A.SYSTEM and then design your S_TCODE such that you enter tcodes in ranges and exclude the tcodes PFCG and SU01 from the range.
or
2) Try deactivating the objects S_USER* this might definitely remove authroization for SU01 and not allow to execute the tcode. I am not so sure if it will restrict PFCG execution.

I recently had to delete quicktime to install other software for my cell phone. After completeing the download and deciding it unworthy of my attention. I've contacted customer service and they instructed me to delete iTunes and Quicktime and re-download them. I still cannot access iTunes.

Here's what worked for other users; perhaps it will work for you (I've never had this problem so I can't say for sure):
1) Uninstall QuickTime from the Add/Remove Programs control panel. If you have difficulties, try Microsoft's Installer Cleanup Utility.
2) Clean up the Windows registry with http://www.ccleaner.com/ (freeware)
3) Restart your system.
4) Delete the QuickTime folder
5) Reinstall QT from the standalone installer.

These connections are referring to the number of computers you have authorized to play your iTunes content and as you saw the limit is 5. So if you wish to bring this number back down to 1, you will have to Deauthorize each computer you want to until you are back down to one.
Simply, head to the Store drop down menu in iTunes on each computer you wish to deauthorize and choose "Deauthorize."

No. It can be on the same iTunes account. There is no limit to the number of devices you can have synced to one iTunes library, account, or computer.

How do i re-install quicktime and get itunes working again??

my brother accidently deleted quicktime off our computer not realising what it was, and now itunes wont work, it says that quicktime cannot be found and so that itunes has to be re-installed. then i somehow re-installed quicktime, however itunes still wouldnt work, and came up with the same message, so i completley deleted quicktime, itunes and everything to do with my ipod, and tryed to re-install it, however it wouldnt re-install, and so i dont no what to do! can someone please help, because i donnt have a clue what to do now!!! please!!

It could be that when your original quicktime was removed it was not removed completely. I would try to install QT again then look for it in Add/Remove programmes. Try to repair if you get given the option, or if not try removing again.
Then, download the standalone QT to your desktop. Switch off antivirus and spy software and try a fresh install of QT. See if it works then.

To remove Cancel and Keep workitem from User desicion

I am having a requirement that I need to remove the extra system added button of <b>cancel and Keep workitem</b> in the User decision activity. I don't want that to be shown to the user for proccessing , I shoud display only Approve and Reject option. But the third one is getting added by iteself.
Can any one please guide me in removing this option from the workitem.

I'm not on a SAP system right now, so i'm not sure if this will help (or is true for that matter).
I think in the tabs of the step definition, you can alter the code used for the user decision.
Or, if this is not possible, you can also create a custom ud step and a custom BO of the method used in decisions and change the method of the decision, so that these don't show up.
I do not think that this is an easy solution.
May I ask, what the functional requirement, or even the business spec is, for this? I think the cancel button is very handy, when users accidentally picked up a work item and is SAP standard behaviour.

How to move multiple tracks from one location to another on HD and keeping iTunes updated?

I'd like to move/re-arrange some subdirectories of my iTunes' main folder and I'd like to keep iTunes library updated without broken links without needing to re-imports the moved albums/tracks. Is there any method to do this? Even with the help of some utility or app?

iTunes works this way. You add a file. It makes a note of its location and metadata stored in the file and adds this to its own library database.
Note: All my answers are with reference to iTunes 7.5 (yes, 7.5). I've stopped trying to keep up with Apple's newer stuff which is why I rarely come here anymore.
Answers to your specific questions.
1&2) I think I have in the past copied a file with the identical name over an existing file and iTunes was fooled into thinking it was the original file. However, it didn't update the metadata in its own database until I highlighted the file briefly in a playlist. This causes the original file to be re-read. The same thing happens if I use a third party metadata editor to change the metadata in a file. iTunes will continue to display the old data until I briefly select the file in a playlist or it starts to play the file.
You can, by the way, add two files with the identical name (but in two different folders obviously) and iTunes will add them both as individual entries, even if the metadata is identical.
3) I don't have iTunes Match obviously (I can't even see the Store anymore with iTunes 7). My third hand understanding is it won't do anything to your original files. If it finds a match it will automatically download the match to your iTunes folder as if you had all the preferences settings set to use it normally. I'm guessing you will then have two files for that track and you'll need to work on cleaning up the lesser quality one unless you want to just leave it. Again, can't speak from experience.
I have both preferences options de-selected and don't want to select them to test my reply. I don't want iTunes to do either because I have media organized by kind and source over two internal hard drives and 3 partitions. I 100% manage my media manually and have always done it that way. I think option 2 has iTunes restructure your folders according to album and artist. I deselected both because i didn't want to constantly be fighting iTunes in its attempt to organize things how it wanted.
If you're going to manage your media manually then you need to understand how iTunes works in detail and be willing to stay on top of it. iTunes is designed to do everything on its own so people don't have to worry about things. By unclicking its default preferences or moving files yourself in Finder or using a script to do so you are also figuratively clicking a button that says, "Okay, I know what I am doing and iTunes works." Normally rule #1 with iTunes is never, never move a file to a different location in Finder and you'll see a lot of posts here from people who have "lost" items becaause they moved a folder or renamed it. Maybe iTunes behaves differently when you deselect those preferences because I do this all the time and iTunes can track it as long as I don't move it to a different volume/drive. I am very careful not to lose things or make duplicates, and of course I back up my computer before any major editing.

Removing sections and keeping the text

I have a number of pages in my document that I want to remove from a section. I also want to keep these pages. How do I remove pages from a section yet keep the individual pages?

It looks as though you are inserting new pages with:
Menu > Insert > Sections > Blank
That will insert a new page separated from the previous page with a Section Break.
The Section Break is the blue horizontal line.
View > Show Invisibles to see it.
View > Page Thumbnails to see images of the pages on the left.
Nothing wrong with how you are inserting blank pages.
You can delete a Section Break, and two pages will come together. Formatting of the first line of the second page will change, but that is a minor problem.
The Pages User Guide can be downloaded from the Help Menu in Pages. Well worth a read.

Cannot reinstall Quicktime and upgrade ITunes

My wife and daughter both needed to upgrade itunes but I could not upgrade Quicktime. Someone mentioned you needed to delete quicktime which I did. I have turned off all firewalls and virsus software. When i go to down I get many error messages such as "Local_machine\software\classes\Quicktime\CLSID.
As someone mentioned I went into the registry and added 'Administrators" to the permissions. This process did not work.
Any idea how to get rid of all these"verify key" messages?

Well folks, I have spent 4 hours trying to figure this out! I did everything you asked me. I changed the settings under users, I erased all the ipod, itunes, and quicktime files, exactly as instructed.
I went back on, and downloaded quicktime ( one of you suggested just downloading quicKtime separately, but for the life of me, I could not find it) because everytime it wants to downloaded both quicktime and itunes.
I still get the same message:
COULD NOT OPEN KEY
HKEYLOCALMACHINE-\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\QUICKTIME.QUCIKTIME\CLSID
VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT ACCESS TO THAT KEY.
One of you gave me a thread to where I go to the registry and change the settings. I tried this but unfortunately there is no way to change it as per the instructions.
In addition, both users are administrators.
I guess I have a few options:
try to find a way to download just quicktime (cannot find the link)
go back into the registry and delete ALL lines with quicktime (not too sure what would happen)
or
give up!
Any other suggestions to help this usually cool under pressure person would be appreciated!

Reinstalling Windows and keeping itunes as it is now

My PC is running slow at the moment so I'm planning on formating it and reinstalling Windows Vista, I have loads of music in my library in itunes (the music is backed up on a seperate hard drive) but if i re-do windows and reinstal itunes is there a way of backing up my library settings? (things like only certain songs have the boxes ticked so when i sync my ipod i only have the songs i like on there, and the play count and last played date) I have 'exported' the library and saved the XML file but will that save all my settings or just the file names and locations? and how do I 'import' the file once I've reinstalled itunes?

I assume all your music files are on the external drive.
If you are going to reinstall windows and you want to keep all your iTunes metadata, you need to save a copy of the iTunes folder normally in Music or My Music for XP.
This contains your library databases and the artwork folder.
I have given the default location for the iTunes folder, but some people using an external drive have it on the external drive as well as the music files if this is the case, you don't need to worry about it.
If your iTunes folder is on your c: drive, your will need to replace the iTunes folder created when you reinstall iTunes with the backup. Then you will need to set the location of the iTunes Music folder in Edit Preferences>>Advanced.
If the iTunes folder was on the external drivem you will need to do a shift key start after installing iTunes to connect iTunes to iTunes Library.itl on the external drive.

I accidentally uninstalled QuickTime, and now iTunes won't open.What do i do?

I was uninstalling some programs on my laptop since it has too much. I uninstalled QuickTime, not knowing it was needed to open iTunes. So, now, I downloaded QuickTime so that i can reinstall it. However, it said that it's "not a valid Win32 application." Before that, I tried to open my iTunes, but it said that it needed to be uninstalled and reinstalled. So, i did just that. I saw an old itunes setup in one of my folders. However, it was an old version, so it won't open. So now, as i'm typing this, i'm downloading the latest itunes in hopes of getting it right. What should i do? Can anyone help me?

You can install it again from mac OS dvd, there's a folder named "optional installs" or "additional installs"with a installer in there, simply pen that installer and select from the list QuickTime and that's all
