Want to resolve your iPhone Trade-in promotion problem?

I have read enough sincere complaints.  It is time to get serious with Verizon and their Trade-in promotion. First do try customer service again or a Verizon Store manager.  If you have already give them another chance, document who you talked to, when, and what they said. You will need to show you tried to resolve the problem with them.   If you can’t work it out with customer service try this:
It will take a few minutes of your time but it will work.   First look up and print:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/pdf/Notice_of_Dispute.pdf
It is two pages and you  have the right to Voluntary Mediation or Arbitration.  I personally would select Arbitration.  The form will have a link to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) www.bbb.org  and enter the address for the Bureau in Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 which is where Verizon is located.  Enter Verizon Wireless as the business name and you will see their BBB rating (as of today) is “under review”.
You can file the complaint online. Here is where you will need to document what you did, who and when you made contact with and what you are looking for to resolve the problem. Point out the Trade-in program was a “Promotion” and if they shorted you ask for the Promotion Value or if you got nothing ask for the Total Trade-In Value. You will need your Submission ID, make sure you include it in your BBB complaint and on the Notice of Dispute form.
When you have completed the Notice of Dispute you can mail it to the address on the form or email to:
  [email protected]
You may get a call or an email and I wouldn’t expect it to take long. The BBB will serve as the Arbitrator, but I expect that Verizon will settle with you before the BBB contacts them, so that they can say they resolved the matter – remember Verizon’s Status is “under review” with the BBB.
I am having a hard time getting my head around why Verizon would allow their trade-in promotion to spoil customer satisfaction with their best customers.  I also see this isn’t a new problem, there are complaints about the trade-in promotion well before the iPhone 6.
And I must emphasize I have long thought the individuals I interacted with at the customer service level were excellent and did all they could to address my issues. Do give them another chance.
I hope this helps you get what you should. Enjoy your new iPhone! I hope Verizon leaves my post up!

An update to my own experience.  I did send an email to to the Verizon Trade-In program from their web page. I selected Contact Us and then selected the check status of my phone from the menu and sent an email. I did receive a an email from them about a day later saying my iPhone had been received, and this morning I received a second email with the full $200.00 Gift Card.  I did this through chat customer service, thanks BrianP for the good customer service!
I did NOT have to file the Dispute form or a BBB complaint, my problem was resolved through chat customer service. It did take awhile, but was within the 6 week expectation time they originally set.

is the iPhone trade in promotion over? and can I trade in my phone in the store instead of sending it in?

The trade in and getting new phone are 2 separate events.
You could trade in your iPhone for $200, but then you need a new phone.  Since you are still under contract, even though you just sent in your IP4, you cannot get a reduced price iPhone 6.  You would have to pay full price, minus the $200 from your trade in.
Bottom line, to do what your thinking, you need to have an upgrade available.

  • IPhone Trade-In Promotion

A little over two weeks ago I signed up for the iPhone trade-in promotion and purchased a new iPhone 6 (as required). My iPhone 4S was "appraised" at $200 trade-in value. It is in mint condition.
I have been waiting for further instruction from Verizon regarding what to do with my 4S. Aren't I to receive some "return package", etc?
    Thanks!

Hello again, Bryan! Yes, you should be able to use your submission ID to get status. Try this link https://www.trade-in.vzw.com/status.php5#top and input your info. And I can certainly understand your desire to chat instead of call. Chat options are available through My Verizon Online (www.verizonwireless.com ) under the "Contact Us" link at the top right of the page.
    Good luck!

  • How to FIX your iPhone 3G and iOS4 PROBLEMS!

Does anyone know how to fix my crippled iPhone 3G after I updated to 4.0.1?

The only way to go back to the old software has been described for you. It is not officially sanctioned by Apple. They do not provide a way to go back to former software. There is not currently a fix in iTunes, as the only thing iTunes does is provide a conduit for you to update firmware.
As provided before, Apple is addressing the issues with 3G and 3GS phones running slow with iOS4. According to developers with access to the iOS4.1 beta, it has been addressed there. You will have to either try the Genius bar as suggested, and I understand the distance issue, or you will have to wait for iOS4.1 to be released. If a restore as a new phone and a DFU restore do not work, then I'm not aware of any other alternative except what was provided above.
Edit: You might try and delete the iOS that you have on the computer and let iTunes download a brand new one. That might help.

  • IPhone 6 trade-in promotion: must activate by 9/30?!

I preordered an iPhone 6 due to ship on 10/3. I am doing the trade-in promotion with an iPhone 4 for $200. I just received the shipping materials which say that the promotional offer only applies if the iphone 6 if it is purchased AND activated before 9/30. Is this true? I was under the impression that it just had to be purchased before 9/30. This would be especially upsetting because I pre-ordered the phone at 3am on release day, and was pushed to the back of the line because verizon screwed up the shipping address (my suite # was cut off). How am I supposed to activate my iphone before I receive it?!

        Rbf1138,
Please allow me to put your mind at ease! You can read the official explanation under the "iPhone Trade-in Promotion" right here http://vz.to/1slXXHx, but I can assure you that's not exactly how it's working.
You simply need to submit your trade in online, which it sounds like you've already done, by 9/30. Then, you will wait to receive your iPhone 6. Once you receive your new phone and have it activated you are to return your old device back to us within 7 days - no later than 12/1/14.

  • ı want to unlock my iphone 4

ı want to unlock my iphone 4

If your iPhone is locked because you forgot the pass code or
it was entered incorrectly too many times, you must connect
your iPhone to a computer and use iTunes on that computer
    to restore your iPhone.
If you want to unlock your iPhone to use with a different wireless
service provider, you must contact the wireless provider to which
the iPhone is locked and ask if they offer unlocking and if you
    qualify.

  • ***!?!?!  IF I WANT TO RETURN MY IPHONE, THEN I LOSE MY CELL NUMBER!!

Like most, I don't often read the fine print when purchasing something, so I am guilty in this instance, but at the same time, i am completely SHOCKED!
In case none of you experienced this yet, if you decide you want to return your iphone, did you know that you also permanently lose your cell phone number? That's right - its GONE! Both my brothers went to return their phones and were both told separately, that they could not keep their numbers.
Has anyone else dealt with this???

Yes, frankly, I haven't heard of this. I live in a heavy ATT/Cingular use area, and I know at least one person who returned their phone and they just swapped out the SIM card to his new phone, same phone number, same everything.
I am thinking this only affects ported numbers, and even then, most likely from specific companies. Once your number is on a SIM card, that is your phone number, and the SIM card is usable in any other ATT/Cingular phone.
It makes no sense considering it obviously doesn't happen if you already have ATT service.

  • Iphone and Windows 7 problem

I recently updated the operating system on my desktop from XP to Windows 7. I listened to someone who assured me that you did not have to backup my system before I did the install (my bad).
I downloaded Itunes to my desktop again but it does not recognize my iphone. I don't want to loose all my musics and apps.
Can anyone help me with a fix to this? Please.

You should be maintaining a backup of all the important data on your computer's hard drive including your iTunes library regardless if installing a new Windows version and especially before doing so. Maintaing a backup is important regardless the platform but even more so with Windoze due to constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns.
Check this link for an iPhone not being recognized with Windoze.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1495
After you get this resolved, your iPhone will be erased of all iTunes content with the first sync and the same for any photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone if this is selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.

  • IPhone 6 Trade-In Promotion Code That Works

Okay, loads of posts about not getting the promotional amount and so on. I am in the same boat EXCEPT I haven't shipped my old iPhone back yet. I have been on the phone with Verizon three times trying to figure out how to get the trade-in page on their site to get the credit correctly stated so the shipping materials can be sent.
I received this promo code from a Verizon Customer Service rep this morning who actually called me back. It was accepted by the vzw site and prints a receipt with the appraisal amount as well as the difference between that value and $200 so it totals up to what was advertised in the promotion. It is working as of today, November 5th, and I don't know for how much longer it will continue to do so.
The website to use is: www.trade-in.vzw.com
The promo code you enter that is currently working is: CAREIPHONE6200-Z3PG-8DV4
IF you're planning on getting the trade-in promo amount of $200 they (Verizon-VZW) tells me I have until December 15th to send my old iPhone to them. Problem was NO promotional code. The old one didn't work after the promotion's end date. Of the posts I've read, most seem to be having trouble getting the full $200 pop for at least these common reasons/excuses from VZW (a contractor they have handling trade-ins). The list (likely not complete):
    1) Cracked screen
    2) Won't power on
    3) Case cracked
    4) Bad, missing or non-functional buttons
    5) Lock code still active (prevents access--yes, it does)
    6) Still connected to iCloud
    7)Find My iPhone still active
Without documentation of the phone's condition the whole thing becomes a finger-pointing game. I've decided to do the following and recommend you do something similar if and before you send your old iPhone back:
    1) On the old phone, go to Settings/General
    2) In the right column of the General options at the very bottom is a Reset option
    3) Use this option and select Reset Phone And Erase All Data (wording may different but it's close enough)
    4) If you have an access code on the iPhone you'll have to enter it to do the process
    5) Two, "Are you sure?," style prompts must be pressed to verify you REALLY want to do this.
    6) After the second Are You Sure prompt is answered, the Apple shows up on the screen and following a complete reset and erase you're greeted with the Hello screen where you'd begin setup. At this point, the phone should no longer have an access code and should have been logged out of iCloud.
    7) Go through the setup screens and skip the ones that ask you to create a lock code, skip setting up an Apple ID and password, skip connecting to WiFi, DO SKIP turning on Find My iPhone. When you successfully reach what will now be an original Home screen, RUN THE RESET AND ERASE AGAIN. This verifies for you that there is no iCloud connection, and no access code.
    8) Take close up pics of the screen, the back, the sides, the buttons, the data/power port, everything. Even better, record a video and go from inspecting the iPhone's condition to and through a setup as described above to show there is no connection to iCloud or any access code. Then go begin the Reset and Erase process (still while recording video).
    9) Lots of users here write of the poor quality of packaging provided for shipping the trade-in, so if you still have the original box put the phone in that. Otherwise use some bubble wrap or another small sturdy box so the screen doesn't get broken or buttons stop working from poor handling by USPS or other shippers.
Why pics and/or video? If you have to take the matter to arbitration or seek remedy from the BBB or other consumer resource there is nothing more convincing than good documentation.

I can absolutely see the confusion regarding your trade in promotion, chimera09. But no worries! The iPhone trade in offer has a unique detail that will allow you to wait until you've received your iPhone 6. You can disregard the 30 days from submission that applies to the usual trade in program. The original portion you listed "return your old device to Verizon Wireless within 7 days after receiving your new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, but no later than 12/01/14" is correct.

  • Best Practices for iPhone 6 Trade-In Promotion?

I want to trade in an old iPhone 4 for this iPhone 6 trade-in promotion which would (in theory) net me a $200 gift card (or bill credit) as long as I purchase a new iPhone 6.
    Great, I'm all over it.
I went to the nearby corporate store, iPhone 4 in hand, and ready to trade in and order the iPhone 6. As we know the 6 is on back order. The solution specialist told me go ahead and place the order and after that I could request an envelope and once my 6 arrives I have 7 days to send the old phone and 6-8 weeks later I would get the $200 gift card. I asked if I could go ahead and process the trade-in in store and he said "no" since they were on back order I can't process the trade-in until I activate the 6, which completes the transaction. He did say that if I receive my new iPhone 6 before 10/15 I could bring the new phone in for activation and they could process the trade-in at that time and issue me an instant credit.
Problem is I don't want to send my phone off in some envelope...to Verizon. Are you kidding me? Search this forum for "trade-in" and you will see all the people who thought they were in for a $200 gift card but were surprised to receive a different amount for some reason...wont turn on, find my iPhone not disabled, water damage, etc. Trouble is, you DO NOT get your phone back, per the offer's fine print.
So here I am waiting for my new iPhone 6 to ship, but I don't even have a tracking number yet and the "Will Ship By" date on Verizon's website just went from 10/31 to 11/7 for the one I chose. Either way, it won't ship in time for me to get to the store by 10/15 to process trade-in onsite and receive the instant credit.
I will not be sending my trade-in phone in an envelope to Verizon. Not now, not never.
***HERE IS MY QUESTION*** Please do not direct me to this website: Verizon
Assuming my trade-in is eligible, what are the steps I need to take to receive the instant $200 credit for my trade-in?
If I receive my new iPhone 6 before 10/15, can I take it to the store and activate it and process the trade-in on site, as I was told by the solution specialist?
Now that I have ordered the iPhone 6 can I go to the store and process my trade-in onsite for the instant credit before my new iPhone ships?
Can I cancel my current order and (even though the iPhone 6 is on backorder) go to the store and re-order and process my trade-in at that time onsite, for the instant credit?

    1. Yes

    3. No, you need a new 6 activated on the account

  • TS3697 I am receiving an error message(iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPhone "Peter's iPhone". Do you want to keep or remove photos previously synced to your iPhone") I am trying to download pics from my computer to my iPhone. Any ideas? Peter

When I went to download some pics (originally taken with my iphone 4S) from my computer back to my iPhone I got the following error message: "iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPhone "Peter's iPhone". Do you want to keep or remove photos previosly synced to your iPhone?"
Coincidentally, my wife just purchased an iPhone 4S and syncs to iTunes on the same computer.
    Any ideas?
    Peter

The "best" way to handle it, if you want to keep everything separate, is to create separate user accounts on the computer. make sure you log into your account on the computer before you attempt to sync your phone and log out when you're done using the computer.
Though it's possible to sync both of them to the same iTunes library, and even share an account for the iTunes store, you're inviting confusion and possible data loss (as you've discovered already). Best to just use separate user accounts on the computer. That also gives you the benefit of not polluting the other persons browser favorites, contacts, etc.

I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome

    1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

It just reboots the device and bolds the system fonts.  No harm done.  If you don't like it, undo the setting, it will reboot and back to as it was.

If you asking me, I would suggest to additonally use a second storage service which also allows you to store your pictures over the 30 days period. I personally use Dropbox with automatic upload for that (https://db.tt/cMEgDUFZ), but there are also other storage services like Flickr for example.
