Want to restore previous version on firefox since my Norton toolbar is incompatible and can't do it.

I upgraded to the 4.0 version then discovered my Norton toolbar is incompatible. I have been unable to restore my computer to before the upgrade.

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • Where can I download a previous version of Firefox? 3.6.8 is sluggish and s-l-o-w on Vista 64

    Firefox stalls for a good 10 to 20 seconds every time it loads a page. I get constant "Not Responding" error messages. This version has nowhere near the speed and responsiveness of previous versions. It is so bad I have had to go back to Internet Explorer.

    Hello there.
    You can download version 3.5.11 [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html here]. Apart from 3.6.8, 3.5.11 is the only currently supported version of Firefox. If you don't want to use the former, please use the later for maximum security.
    That said, if you're having a problem with 3.6.8, it's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
    Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
    If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
    If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.

  • How to restore previous version of search/results.aspx

    Hi,
    I have search center as sub site. There is no Pages library available for the search center.
    I had customized the OOTB search results page. Now, I need to restore previous version of the results page.
    The url for results page appears as <site collection URL>/search/results.aspx
    Which library contains the results.aspx page and how to restore it to previous version?
    Thanks,
    dhijit

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to restore previous version of search/results.aspx.
    Per my knowledge, the results.aspx isn’t stored in the library.
    You can open the SharePoint Designer to find the results.aspx under the “All Files” folder.
    There is no version information on the page.
    You need to modify the page to the result which is the same as the previous version.
    Best Regards,

  • How to return to previous version of Firefox that is compatible with AVG Anti-virus.

    I just upgraded to Firefox 6(?) as instructed when I logged-in, and now my AVG anti-virus doesn't work. I have paid for it and need it to work. You had no warning about this on the screen for the update. So you need to tell me how to go back to the previous version of Firefox. (I searched your support site, and found notice that this incompatibility is indeed true, but not about what to do, except to stop using Firefox.) Please help. ASAP.

    Web-browsers supported by Kaspersky PURE 3.0 is "Mozilla Firefox 12.х - 23.x."
    *http://support.kaspersky.com/us/9493
    So two options
    *wait for update
    *Downgrade to 23 (not recommended)

    How do i restore the previous version of firefox? I now have firefox 6. AVG Safe Search does not work with 6 and surf the web so much doing research that i need it back. Thanks, Sally

    Using the older version of firefox is not recommended.
    Try the classic theme Restore for Classic firefox Menu's
    *https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/
    Still, you want to restore the older version, download from the below link
    *Download Firefox 29 - http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/29.0/mac/
    *Download the English version of Firefox 29 - http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/29.0/mac/en-US/

  • Ever since upgrading to Firefox 4, my webpages load much much slower. How can I go back to the previous version of Firefox and keep my bookmarks, etc.?

    I don't have any details. The Question explains it all. We just upgraded from 1.5 Mbps to 18 Mbps download speed and webpages opened really quick until I downloaded and installed Firefox 4. I have Internet Explorer 9, but I do not use it. I would just like to go back to the most current previous version of Firefox and keep my settings and bookmarks to see if webpages still load as slow as they are loading now. If so, then it's not the browser and I'll have to troubleshoot.

    You can download Firefox 3.6 from this page:
    http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
    However, I'm not sure of the best procedure for removing Firefox 4. You might want to search these forums a bit for advice so you don't lose Bookmarks and other settings.

  • Firefox 5 is apparently incompatible with F-Secure anti-virus; F-Secure repeatedly pops up "Changed Application" messages; How do I restore my previous version of Firefox?

    I just installed Firefox 5. Unfortunately, F-Secure's "Application Control" now repeatedly pops up "Changed Application" messages in an endless string. It will not accept my attempts to "Allow" the new version of Firefox. Since Firefox 5 is not compatible with F-Secure, I must return to my previous version of Firefox. I am very disappointed that you have put me to all this trouble. How do I delete Firefox 5 and return to the previous version of Firefox?

    "F-Secure repeatedly pops up Changed Application"
    So how is this Firefox's fault? Shouldn't you write to F-Secure so they fix that?

  • My roboform program won't work on latest version of FireFox. I want to use previous version and then not update for now.

    I purchased a lifetime version of roboform. With the latest version of Firefox this program will no longer work.
    So I want to reinstall the previous version of Firefox and then not have it be automatically updated.

  • I want to download a previous version of firefox

    I am visually impaired and downloaded 4.0 yesterday and it keeps crashing at startup so I'm guessing it's not working with my screenreader. I'm using Windows XP home edition. Version 3.616 worked great on this computer and I do have that version on my laptop but I don't have the .exe file so I'm not sure if I can get it to my desktop. How can I go back to the previous version of Firefox or how can I fix this crash problem?

    cmiller, there is a version of SiteLauncher for Firefox 4 available from the developers home page - http://www.donesmart.com/sitelauncher

  • Recently, I updated to Firefox 4.0.1, and the new version disabled several of my programs, including my anti-virus. How can I go back to the previous version of Firefox?

    I want to go back to the previous version of Firefox, because the new version (4.0.1 I think) that I downloaded disabled several of my programs, including my anti-virus program, because they were incompatible with the new version of Firefox. How do I get back to the previous version of Firefox and re-enable the disabled programs?

    Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4.
    You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    browser.gesture.pinch.in -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReduce</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out -> <b>cmd_fullZoomEnlarge</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> <b>false</b>
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
    You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.

  • The new version is not compatible with my digital finger signiture. Will this be fixed? If not, I will need to go back to the previous version of firefox

    My HP laptop has a digital signature for accessing my pages such as email, facebook, etc. Since I updated firefox, this is no longer compatible and does not work. It is very painful, I really want and need to use it. Does this mean I need to downgrade to the previous version of firefox?

    EgisTec, who now provide the HP Simplepass application, have made an update of the scanner software for Firefox 4, for details see https://support.mozilla.com/questions/814397

  • In the previous version of Firefox I could close the window and still have my tabs intact when I reopened it. Why does FF 4 closes all tabs and doesn't give me an option to save them? (And if it does, where do I change the setting?)

    In the previous version of Firefox, before closing a window with tabs still open, it asked if I would like to "save and close", "close all tabs" or "cancel" the operation. FF4 will just alert me that I am closing those tabs and ask me is I want to continue, without giving the option to save my research for a later use.

    Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically.<br />
    You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session.<br />
    There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
    Another possibility is to use:
    *Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • I upgrade from the previous version to Firefox 4.o, I can no longer connect to my work HTTPS website.

    The site I connect to is my citrix account at work, which needs a certificate. I could connect with the previous version of Firefox (3.6). When I upgraded the browser I got the errors mentioned earlier. I changed the setting for the specific setting from false to true. I still unable to connect and got a different error. Could someone please help! Thanks - Aldo

    If you used the option to delete settings, or whatever it is worded when uninstalling, Firefox will remove all your important data information from profiles for all installed versions of Firefox, and you will then need luck and a file recovery utility to try to restore the information.
    You mentioned files being moved to Trash, I was hoping you may still have the required original files. I use Windows XP, and I realise Macs use different locations for files, but I think the files have the same names.

    Note the last article discusses problems when bookmarks are lost, and some of the possible reasons and solutions. Obviously I do not know what has actually happened in your case, and whether or not you used the delete option I initially mentioned.

  • I downloaded firefox 3.6.13 and now when moving through sites it will unexpectedly not be able to load a page within a site. How do I fix this problem or revert to a previous version of firefox?

    The first few sessions Firefox seemed to be running great with improved speed. Yesterday, when I opened Firefox it could not open my homepage even though I checked for my internet connection ... my email service was working perfectly. I rebooted the computer and started Firefox and the homepage opened fine. I then visited an online newspaper site opened from my bookmarks. I was able to read one or two articles on different pages, but then when I selected another page in this site, Firefox was not able to access it (just keep trying to make a connection to the page). I restarted Firefox and went into an online banking site, again through a bookmark. Again after successfully accessing several different pages in the site Firefox was unable to connect to a requested page.
    Later in the day I restarted Firefox, entered the banking site and successfully completed my transaction. Visited several other sites and had no problems, then again Firefox could not load a page.
    This problem has continued today when looking at the online paper.
    I would like either a fix to this problem, or to return to the previous version of Firefox.

    Google Toolbar Options, in the Search tab, make sure that '''Enable the Google new tab page''' is check-marked. If that doesn't fix it for you, see this for support information about the Google Toolbar. <br />
    [http://www.google.com/support/toolbar/?hl=en] <br />
    Or visit the Google Toolbar forum. <br />

    As far as your UserAgent showing Firefox 3.0.11, see this: <br />
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Websites+or+add-ons+incorrectly+report+incompatible+browser
    You might want to consider getting rid of that '''desktopsmiley''' program that has messed up your UserAgent, it is known as Malware.
