Want to Run a Long Action Really Fast?

Do you have any actions that have 20 or more stpes in them and may take 30 sec or longer to run? Do you want to run that same action in just 3-5 seconds?
Try this, start the action running and then quickly click off of PS so that another app is made active, like say Safari, that same action will now run in like 3-5 seconds. This is under SL 6.1 on a dual quad core intel machine.
Try it and see if you can make it happen too. but you will need an action that has lots of steps in it or one that takes a long time to run.

If any action is taking as long as 30 seconds to run then I suggest you must have this setting activated - in your actions panel drop down there is a setting called "Playback options" sounds like you muct have 'step by step' activated?
Actually there are lots of actions that take more than 30 sec to run. But that is not the issue.
Actions can further be speeded up by setting history options to take away 'automatically create first snapshot' - this applies to actions which open multiple files only.
That's not the issue either.
I think its very unlikely that Actions will run faster in the background that they will with Photoshop active as the foreground  App. Could be wrong I guess, but if this turns out to be the case then I will personally eat my hat. And my shoes.
Have you tired it. For whatever reason it is significantly different. Those are real times that I gave you above. One time was with PS running in the foreground and then the second time with it running in the background, the same action, nothing else being different.

None are '''''necessary''''' to use Firefox, but some parts of some web pages aren't going to work without a specific plugin being installed.

  • CPU Fan running really fast even at low temperature.

I bought a HP Envy 700-160eo desktop computer 5 or 6 months ago and for the last 2 months the CPU fan has been running really fast even at low temperature. It's like locked to about 2400RPM as soon as I boot up my PC. Even if I get 30 degrees celcius it runs at 2600RPM. I've tried resetting my CMOS and tried updating my BIOS, but the BIOS update that you are providing me on the HP Envy 700-160eo driver & update section isn't compatible with my PC. The update is for 700-0xx. I've been using the program called Argus Monitor for controlling my fan speed.

I've got the opposite problem, my AMD CPU is running around 55C and the fan hardly ever exceeds 1200 rpm most of the time its running around 950rpm.  I think the 48C to 65C is running on the edge of to hot in my opinion, I like to stay around 35C-40C. Motherboard, video card and hard drive all stay in the 30C range. I tried to speed the fan up with SpeedFan program but it can not interface.
I hope someone can give us a answer, I checked the  UEFI and could not find any setting allowing controlling fan speeds on my ENVY 700-200z/AMD A10 cpu.

  • Macbook pro fan making loud noises and going really fast. Now the fan doesn't work at all and my computer gets extremely hot almost instantly. Is there a way to fix it without having to pay a ton of money to have someone fix it for me?

I've had my Macbook pro for about 3 1/2 years now. It has worked great until recently. A few months ago I noticed that the fan would always run really fast when I was doing simple tasks. After a few weeks/months, the fan was still really fast but it also started to make these loud noises. Now, it only occasionally makes the loud noise if I move my computer after its been stationary for a while. The fan no longer works at all and my computer gets exceptionally hot almost instantly when I turn it on. Is there a way to fix this problem without having to pay a ton of money to have someone fix it for me?

  • Hello, I am interested in buying a new Macbook Pro but want to run Adobe CS package.  Which computer do you recommend?

Hello, I am interested in buying a new Macbook Pro but want to run the latest Adobe CS package.  Which computer do you recommend for best speed and perfromance?

Depending on the software you'll use - I doubt you'll be an expert on After Effects and use Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver like a pro (you may be an exception) - I have a 13" Macbook Pro simply because the 15" lacks the portability of the smaller size - the Retina 15" is alot lighter and if you can afford it - go for it!
I bought the Macbook Pro and replaced the 4GB of RAM with 8GB of RAM and replaced the HDD with an m4 SSD from Crucial. The SSD really makes a difference in app start up speeds, loading times and bootup speeds. The RAM ensures apps operate smoothly and everything is snappy. Since getting an SSD, I would say the performance of Photoshop and Illustrator is vastly improved. I can have both open whilst surfing the web, checking my email and even using Dreamweaver every once in a while. Multitasking is great.
To conclude, depedning on your price range, buying a £999 Macbook Pro and swapping the HDD for an SSD and the 4GB of RAm to 8GB, will ensure better performance than both 15" Models. However, buying a 15" Model and maxing out the specs, would beat the performance of a maxed out 13".
I have a 13" and it runs faster than it was when I first purchased it last year. Photoshop opens in 2/3 seconds and performance is great.
    Hope this helps.
P.S. If you have the money, get the 15" Retina. If not, max out the 13" if you still want portability. Otherwise, get the 15" and max that out if you feel performance is poor.
The reason I say Retina, is because the maxed ram and SSD is already installed and saves alot of hassle aswell as the slimmer design and lighter weight.

My computer is 3 1/2 months old and my battery is dying really fast what can I do to increase the battery life?

    Hi,
    I asssume it's a laptop!
1st I would run it right down & then do a full recharge, then run it down again + a full recharge..
Check that you do not have any apps running in the background, reset PRAM..
When all's done I usually run a movie & time how long the battery lasts..if after that & no joy call Apple Help..

  • Is network rendering really faster overall?

I'm just getting into network rendering. I've setup 4 machines as the farm. All is well and the image sequence is being processed pretty quickly. However, after rendering out several thousand static PSD frames, I realized I still had to go through the process of converting them to a movie. Importing them into Adobe Media Encoder was relatively easy, but it still took a long time to encode the final output as video. When you factor in the additional step of encoding the movie, I'd estimate a very small amount of time saving through network rendering.
What am I missing? How is this really faster in the end? I'd love to be enlightened. Is there a simple (and much faster way) to go from composition to final h.264 video through network rendering?
    Thanks!

    Run a test yourself...
Set your three machines to render a PSD sequence, the once it's done use AME on one of them to make an h264.
On the other machine send your composition to AME and render an h264.
In my experience the more computers doing the heavy lifting (ie working out your AE file) the better. Once the image sequence is done the easy bit to process is getting it out into another format.

  • IPhone 4 battery drains really fast and phone gets really hot

I have an iPhone 4 and since November 15 my battery has been draining really fast and gets really hot when I use the phone. When I try to charge the phone with my computer it doesn't charge, but only charges with the wall hub. I have tried deleting the email accounts, deleting all apps, restoring with the backup, restoring without the backup, and still no luck. I went to the Apple store and they briefly looked at it and said it had water damage by looking at the water damage indicator in the charging port. They told me I needed to pay $150 for a new phone. I don't recall getting my phone getting wet and it seems to work fine except for the battery drain and the computer charging problem. iTunes still recognizes the phone. I thought it was a battery problem so I ordered a new battery and replaced it myself and the battery was still draining fast. When I had the phone open the other water damage indicators were still white (no water damage), it was just the charging port indicator that was red (water damaged). Also, when I charge my phone with the wall hub it charges very slowly. I have ran out of ideas and I could really use some suggestions. Thank you.

i looked on the right there is no solution to my problem.i charge my phone to 100% after 2 hours with no usage at all of the phone with 3G off with wifi off with all applications shut down all notifications and locations off battery goes down to 50% when it was running on the older ios never had this problem in my iphone.when will this problem solved

  • What is the best practice for running a long report/query against an active database?

We are using SQL Server 2012 EE but currently do not have the option to run queries on a R/O mirror though that is my long term goal. I am concerned I may still run into the below issue in that scenario as well since the mirror would also be updating data I
    am querying.
I have a view that joins across several tables from two databases and is used by an invoicing program on existing data. Three of these tables are also actively updated by ongoing transactions. Running a report that used this view did not use to be a problem
but now our database is getting larger and we have run into some timeout problems for the live transactions coming in.
First the report query was timing out so I set command timeout to 0 and reran the query which pegged all 4 CPUs 100% for 90 minutes and so I finally killed it. Strangely there were no problems with active transactions during that time so I'm wondering if the
query was really running doing anything useful or somehow spinning and waiting. I reviewed the view and found a field I was joining on that was not indexed so created an index on that field, reran the report, which then finished in three minutes and all the
CPUs were busy but not at all pegged out. Same data queried both times. I figured problem solved. Of course later, my boss ran a similar invoice report, with the same amount of data, and our live transactions started timing out 100% while his query was running.
I did not get a chance to see the CPU usage during that time.
I looked at the execution plan of the underlying view and added the suggested index but that did not help. When I run the just the view at SQL Server it does not seem to cause any problems and finished in a couple seconds. Perhaps something else going on in
the reporting tool using the view.
My main question is - Given I have to use the live and active database, what is the proper way to run a long R/O query/report so that active transactions can still continue to update
tables that I am querying? sp_who2 did show transactions being blocked so I guess a long query accessing the tables blocks live transactions accessing those same tables, but certainly I'm not the only one doing this. I
am considering adding "with (nolock)" but am hoping there is a better standard practice as that clause can return dirty data and I understand why. Thx, Dave
    Thanks, Dave
    Dave

    Hello
You can change the DB isolation level to Read uncommitted
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms378149(v=sql.110).aspx
    or use WITH (NOLOCK)
I do use NOLOCK option for the dirty reads to avoid locks on the tables
