VC is a modeling tool. This tool enables business experts/developers to quickly create business application , without coding. It mainly helps business experts to come up with a working application in very less time and decreases the dependency/cost on developers.
How it helps your project ?
This answer can change from person to person. A project manager can look at it as a faster development path (decreases cost) , as it comes with a rich UI ... etc
You can create iViews and use them as portal content.

5)There is a <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/vc/main&">wiki</a> section where you can find solutions to many problems in VC which are modeled by modelers who have encountered various problems while modeling various VC screens .

  • How to start visual composer in portal 7.3

    Hi,
we installed the new portal 7.3 but i can´t find the visual composer. the url .../VC has no function.
Do we have to install CE?

Edited by: Sven Gerum on Jan 6, 2011 3:20 PM

    Hello Sven,
Can you please test that all the VC SCA's are deployed on your server.
In order to do so, you need to go to the J2EE Home Page and then press the System Information Link
Go to the Components Info Tab
Here is the list of the Software components that should be deployed:
    WDRUNTIME
    EPCONNECTIVITY
    EPCONNECTIVITYEXT
    VCBASE
    VCCORERT
    VCFRAMEWORK
    VCFREESTYLEKIT
    VCKITBI
    WDEXTENSIONS
    WDFLEX
    VC70RUNTIME
Also if the message that you receive (after logon to the VC) is:"You are not authorized to view the requested resource",
then you need to Assign to the logged on user the Role named VisualComposerUser (from the User Administration Tab in the Portal)

  • Visual Composer services are not found

    Hi there,
I have installed SAP NetWeaver 2004S SR 1 according to the installation guide which was included in the installation files. After installation of the system (excluding MaxDB Database Manager and SQL Studio) I started the server. After that I installed Adobe SVG Viewer and tried to start Visual Composer by calling http://localhost:50100/VC. When I do so, I get two error messages stating <b>Server Error: Visual Composer services are not found</b> and <b>This product requires MSXML Parser v4.0</b>. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks a lot for any help!
    Regards,
    Marc

    Hi Mario,
    mh...strange.
I used the VC on our old server with my notebook without a problem (great tool!).
Now we have a new server with a new NW 04s SP10 (very fresh installed ) and there I get the "Server Error: Visual Composer services are not found" and "This product requires MSXML Parser v4.0" errors.
Unfortunately I cannot test it on the old server, because it was a interim system.

Visual Composer 7.1 is installed as part of SAP NetWeaver for Composition Environment. You can download and install a trial version from here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50c58b14-da6d-2a10-ca94-a3c0937828d6

  • Visual Composer 7.0 on SAP 2004s

    Hi All,
I have installed SAP 2004s on my server. I also want to install VC 7.0 on this.
Can anyone let me know whether VC is automatically installed with 2004s or we need to install it seperately? Also, if it it comes with 2004s how can we configure it for use.?
Where can I find some installation and configuration guides for VC 7.0?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi all,
Thanks for the suggestion till now.
we are currently using 2004s SP6. the inst.  config guide given is for SP8.
but i can see that some visual composer archive files are already deployed on the server.
are they enough to start configuring the system? if yes can you tell how to configure the system. can moving to SP8 be useful?
Already deployed files on the server..

  • Is it possible in Visual Composer

    Hi All,
I am not an expert in Visual Composer, but I do know it is useful to access adhoc data from the production environment. I have a requirement to extract historical data from NON-SAP database (DB2), since we are not planning to convert some historical data.
Let some one tell me whether I can access data from non-sap database, which is sitting outside. Also I want to use the tool to do extract data from BW, R/3 and DB2 at the same time in one screen?
Any material reference will help as well.
    Thanks,
    Alex.

    Hi Alex,
yes, that is possible. You can connect your DB2 via the BI JDBC Connector (look <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/b3/c3c4135e074ab4900bfdc2ae6c9e79/frameset.htm">here</a> and scroll down). At the same time, on the same screen you can connect R/3-Data, BW-Data, CSV-Data, Webservice-Data, ...

  • Guide on how to use a self programmed BAPI in Visual Composer

    Hi all,
I am absolutely new to modelling with the Visual Composer, so probably this is a fairly easy question for most of you, but it's driving ME nuts.
I have a BAPI in my ERP6 system. This BAPI was programmed by some other guy (not working here anymore) and it is used to output some time management data for a user. It expects a personnel number as input and is then supposed to return the amount of time an employee worked that day.
Now what I need/want to do is this:
a user logs on to the portal with his user-id and I want to create an iView on the first page that displays his/her remaining time of work for that day.
All I have is the user-id, from which I need to query the personnel number from infotype105 and then use this number as input for the BAPI - And I want to do this with the Visual Composer!
Can someone point me to some good documentation how to get started with using a BAPI in Visual Composer?
I have a sesond problem right now, that has something to do with necessary rights for system connection or system alias - not sure:
Right now, I can't see any BAPI in my backend-system, because I seem to be mssing the necessary rights to use the system connection I created - although group everyone has read access to the connection an I setup SSO between portal and ERP system.
So maybe solme of you gurus might be able to point me to some good documentation on these topics, as I'm kinda stuck here
    Greetings,
       Christian

    Hi,
Yes its very much necessary to do the user mapping untill unless if you did not do the single sign on Trust .
It is necessary to get the data from the Back end i.e your Ssytem.
    Steps :
Go to Useradministartion->find your VC user (using which user you are logging to the VC)->CLICK ON MODIFY->Select usermapping Tab->select the System alias ->give the credentials of the System (i.e Back end) then Save.
After that Check the Connection Test for the Syetm you connected .
    Steps:
System Administartion->Syste configuration->Visual Composer-> fRight Click on your Backend Sytem->select Connection test->do the connecton test .
if the results are failed means the usermapping is wrong.

  • Parameters from abap web dynpro to visual composer

    Hello ,
Can we pass output parameters from abap web dynpro to visual composer?
    <i><u>For Example:</u></i>
ID NUMBER that we got in the application (Abap web...)
and we want to pass it to import parameter of visual composer (start-point)
I know about the mapping(in GP) but how we can see the output parameter of the abap web dynpro in GP-callable object(output parameters).
When we use GP (callable object), we have input/output parameters.
I need to map from abap web dynpro <b>(output)</b> to visual composer <b>(input)</b>
    Thank You,
    Boaz.

    Hi Boaz,
Unfortunately it's one of the GP restrictions that it's not possible to transport parameter values from an ABAP web dynpro UI into the GP context. Vice versa is feasible, i.e. you can use an ABAP web dynpro UI and fill it with parameter values from GP context.

  • Calling BW Process chain from Visual Composer

    Hi Gurus,
i have a question. Does anyone testet to call an ABAP program or a process chain in BW (via ABAP) through a button in visual composer?
    Regards,
    Adem

    Hi Adem,
this is possible, you must write an RFC function module,
which calls a function module of the function group
    RSSM_PROCESS.
For example you want to start a attribute change run you have to call the function module RSSM_PROCESS_ATTRIBCHANGE
    from your RFC function module.
    Best Regards,
    Marcel
