Want to stop new notes being auto-sent to email

When I edit notes in the Notes app, an email of that full note is automatically sent to my All Mail mailbox.  I'd like to stop that.  I tried some of the things in 2012 discussions about notes and email but these suggestions did not seem to work.

thanks for responding.  I saw a few responses like this in other discussions, and in trying them almost deleted all my notes.  I ended up talking with Apple.  The actual answer may be what you said or may be different; it depends on how one's phone and in particular, accounts for Notes, are set up.  If one's Notes app has both iCloud and an email account, e.g., a gmail account, set up for Notes, then some notes may be associated with the iCloud account and some with the email account, depending on when the notes were entered and what the configuration of the iphone was at the time. 
In my case, I needed to consolidate all my notes under my iCloud account in Notes, then disconnect Notes from my email in the manner you mentioned above.  This deleted the notes that had been associated with my email account under Notes (but no worry since they were copied to the iCloud account notes) and stopped the auto emails but also retained all my notes in the Notes app.
