Want to sync Contents of iPad to new MacBook
When I received my iPad I only had an old G4 ibook which I could not connect the iPad to. So to set it up I registered and sync it to another MacBook Pro in the house. I now have a slightly older but functioning well MacBook running SL that I now want to transfer all my apps from the iPad to the new MacBook. It seems when I go to sync it will replace the contents of he iPad with whats on the computer, which has nothing as it has a clean install. How do i reverse the sync?
launch iTunes on the MBP without the iPad connected, then preferences > devices and put a tick in the box next to +prevent iPods, ... from syncing automatically+.
now connect the iPad and, when it appears under the devices header, right-click (or ctrl-click) it and choose +transfer purchases+ from the pop-up menu.
for everything else you could use e.g. [iRip|http://thelittleappfactory.com/irip/?gclid=CMnaiefNwKQCFUODDgodgh4oMg].

I just got a new macbook and i want to sync my iphone to it but when i do that itunes tells me that it will delete my everything because im already hooked up to my desktop. I googled a way to transfer my itunes over by using a flashdrive but my desktop broke down. i was wondering if it really will delete everything. if so is this there where icloud comes to my recue?
Welcome to the Apple Community Kate.
It will only delete your synced content, which you can then resync, it won't affect your iCloud data. -
My macbook crashed, and i want to sync my phone with my new macbook
My Macbook crashed, and with it I lost my entire music library; at least the part that wasn't synced to my iPhone 4S. I purchased a new macbook and would love to transfer the songs FROM my iphone TO my macbook, but I keep getting this message - which I am fearful will erase the precious few songs I did save on the iPhone:
Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones from this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?
Can somebody please advise? Thank you.Hi evanlovett,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that you no longer have the computer that had your iTunes Library stored on it and you want to move what music you still have on your iPhone to your new computer. If the music was purchased from iTunes you can get this music back to your iTunes Library two different ways. You can either transfer purchases from the iPhone to the iTunes Library, or you can just download the music again from the Purchased section of iTunes. I will post the information on both ways to recover your purchased music below. If the music on your iPhone came from a CD or another source (not purchased from iTunes) there would be no way to transfer it to your iTunes Library.

so I don't have any backup from my old macbook... what can I do? I don't wan't to lose my information from my iPhone 5s and I wan't to sync everything.
Follow the directions here:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
Note: If your new Mac is running Mavericks, you can no longer sync contacts/calendars locally. Your only choice will be iCloud. -
Help anyone?
Can you still get onto your old desktop? if you can...see if you can get memory stick and just copy and paste on to it...if not....you might have to just do what the new iMac and you may get all back from ur history of purchase..just try and remember what dl....

Hi there,
You can re-download purchased content from the iTunes store directly to your iTunes library or your iOS devices. Take a look at the article below for more information.

I have a new ipad mini and I want to sync with my ipad, but I don't want to sync photos or music as it takes up all my memory. How can I do this?
I'm not understanding what you're wanting. You don't sync ipad to iPad. You can sync both devices to the same iTunes account or same computer.
And you can choose the content on each device. I have an iPod and iPad and maintain separate content on each one. -
bought a new macbook air because my old computer is formatted. I want to sync my iphone to my new mac, so I can save the data on my iphone without losing data. how can I do?
You need to copy everything form your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. it simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced. -
hi i need help
hi my laptop with my itunes lubrary has crashed so i got a new one but i dont want to sync my iphone to the new laptop incase i lose all my songs on my iphone. how do i sync to a new one without losing everythingThe right way is to restore the backup that you kept of your old computer onto your new one. If it is too late for that before you do anything set up a backup process for the new one so when it crashes (note I said "when", not "if") you won't be faced with this problem again.
In lieu of that the apps already mentioned will help you get content off the phone if it was not purchased from iTunes. But it it WAS purchased from iTunes just connect the phone to your new computer, Authorize iTunes on the new computer and choose "Transfer Purchases" from the iTunes file menu. -
I have my entire music library (purchased and burnt CD's) on my iPod Touch from one computer and I wanted to sync it all to my new computer. I was hoping it would all transfer via sync when I plugged it in but it doesn't seem to work. Please help?!
Ok, I had a glitch, forced to restart, and lost my train of thought.
Reinstalling iTunes should fix the major issue that might have gone wrong, perhaps your explaination points will disappear and everything will be peachy again.
But if they don't, you can open the XML file in iTunes Folder using a Text edit program to see what the common pathname is to the iTunes Music folder or where your content is located.
If you moved the itunes folder, it needs to go back.
I can't download iTunes to my Vista virtual machine to test it out right now because iTunes is down, so I can't verify the pathname, perhaps your issue and the iTunes being down are related somehow?
You don't want to import all your music again, but it's a option, but you lose all your playlists, that's what I'm trying to recover.
If oyu don't have a whole lot of playlists, then simply select all the explaimation point music and delete, select File from the menu and import your itunes folder again. -

Is MS exchange the only way to keep mail synced across all devices? Can Mac mail do this without exchange? I have iPhone,iPad and new MacBook Pro, and looking for advice please.
As Bob says, any iMap service can do this. GMail can, iCLoud mail can too.
Both of these can be used with Mail on any device. -
i have a new computer and want to sync my phone to the new but dont want to lose the information. how do i transfer. i was told there was a way but not sure how
for the purchased items from the iTunes Store, you could use transfer of purchases
for the photos, other music/movie not from itunes, you'll be needing a third party application
for contacts, calendars , photos from camera roll : you could just directly transfer it from your phone to the computer. -
If I want to sync my iPhone to my new MacBookPro that was previously synced with a different computer, will it erase everything from my iPhone?
Yes, unless you first transfer a copy of your iTunes folder from the old computer to the new one.
