Anyone out there i want to purchase the new 5th gen. ipod.(With Video) I have a 4th gen. ipod now how do I transfer the songs from my Library to the new one without erasing anything. SOMEONE HELP ME OUT HERE, THANKS ALOT

All your media should be in iTunes so you can sync using iTunes to get the music over. If you have any purchases from the iTunes Store you may transfer them to your iTunes library.

The transfer of content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod, but there are third-party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. BTW. The old ipod is on one computer and my new iphone 4 is on another computer.

Here is one way which will also transfer playcount, playlists, etc. Do it this way and your iTunes library will be identical on both computers.

I have just bought a new ipod nano and want to transfer the music and playlists from my old 2nd generation ipod over. Unfortunately I share a computer and the library in ITunes isn't mine. I can connect both old and new ipods at the same time but obviously I Tunes won't let me just copy over. Any advice / suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

My husband dropped his ipod touch and it got run over. He has a new ipod touch but we can't figure out how to transfer his music from his old ipod to his new one. There's 800 songs on his old one. For some reason, the old ipod syncs photos into itunes but not songs? We've already spent enough money one the ipods and music...I don't really want to pay for all the software stuff to do it. Is it really that difficult? We were hoping we could just plug both ipods into the laptop and drag and drop in iTunes...but apparently that's not possible either. Help?!

All music that was on the iPod Touch should be your iTunes library on your computer. If Sync Music was selected under the Music tab for the iPod Touch sync preferences with iTunes, any music purchased from the iTunes store direct with the iPod Touch would have been copied to the iTunes library automatically with the first sync with iTunes after doing so. iTunes also includes an option for any music downloaded direct with the iPod Touch will be downloaded automatically by iTunes on your computer.
Photos on your computer can be transferred to an iOS device via the iTunes sync/transfer process but photos are not stored by iTunes.

The logic board is shot on my old iBook. I bought a new one. I can access the old one through target disk mode. I replaced the iTunes folder on the new one with the iTunes folder from the old one but the music doesn't show up in the library. If I go to the iTunes music folder and click on a song it gets added to the new library, but I have 4000 songs. My admin user name is the same on both computers. What's the secret?

If the songs on your mini are not on your computer then you need to take the tracks from the mini and put them in iTunes, you can't transfer from iPod to iPod. If they are on the computer then all you need to do is connect your new iPod and it will update automatically. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod and return them to iTunes. This is just a selection, have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

That's because it's shared and not transferred or copied. You need to select the content you want to copy and click the import button at the bottom right of the home share window.

Are you sure? I restored my new iPod from the backup of my iPad and all app data was restored to the new iPod.. App data is part of the backup.
