Want to update the operating systems to Mountain Lion version 10.8.2 on my Macbook6,1 from Mac OS X Version 10.6.8. Will this affect the performance of my computer in a negative way, and if the benefits outweigh it? Thanks.
While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t run Mountain Lion. There's a Mountain Lion Support Community where everybody has Mountain Lion. I have replaced my hard drive on our 27" Imac and upgraded the op system to mountain lion. Once all done and collected from apple, i have found my word and ecel have expired and are requesting me to repurcahse the items. As they were purchased almost 4 yrs ago I have no idea where the original box or codes / product key / passwords are. What can I do to get around this problem. In addition my time machine only goes back as far as the op system upgrade.

Given the extreme limitations outlined in the article Allen linked to, and given thst iMovie HD 6 is known to work with Mountain Lion, you might be better served by installing iMovie 6 on your Mac.
You can still keep iMovie 11 as well:
Happily this is easily achieved, but it has to be done backwards.
Delete iMovie 11 (just drag it to the trash). Now install iMovie 6 from the iLife 6 install disks. Update it to iMovie 6.0.3.
Now re-install iMovie 11. This automatically moves iMovie 6 into a folder it creates in your Applications folder called iMovie Previous Version.
Then reinstall iMovie 11.
iMovie 6 works great with iDVD 7.
Now you have them both, and you can have both in the Dock as well. -

I suggest that you don't, the new operating system stinks. But if you want too, go to settings, general, and then software update. If your iPad will support it, it will update.

Do you see a half moon icon in the upper right corner of the screen? If so, you have Do Not Disturb enabled. Settings>Do Not Disturb. Turn it off.
Or do you have system sounds muted?
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center. Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.

Ever since I updated the operating system, itune doesn't play music on iphone 4. If it plays, it plays only one song and gets stuck. I've tried to reconnect to the computer to see whethere there has been missing portion during the upgrade... but not really. does anyone have the same issue?
What does "gets stuck" mean?

I currently have a 1Tb HDD installed in my macbook pro and have just recently acquired a 120GB SSD. I want to put the operating system on the SSD so it boots quickly but keep the files on the HDD. How do I do this?

Suggest that you take them up on their offer of a new battery. Make sure you got the right one for your model MBP.

Your post says you are on iOS 4.3.2. You need to be at least at iOS 5 to have a "Software Update" capability on your iPad. Right now, you need to update your iPad using iTunes on your computer.
Plug your iPad into iTunes (current version: 11.0.4). Let it sync. Then choose "Check for Updates" from the iPad's summary page in iTunes. -
I have tried to update the operating system on my ipad several times without success. Each time it reaches 353.2mb of 353.3mb and starts to process the file. Nothing happens and then I get a message saying the network connection has timed out. The network is still connected.
Have you tried temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software whilst the download is happening ? A number of people on here have had success downloading it after doing so.

If it's a Core Duo Mac, no.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, phone the online Apple Store and order a Mac OS X DVD, and if the computer can't run 10.8, a download code for 10.7.

can you help me?The YouTube app is not included with iOS 6. Google offers their own app for free via the iTunes Store, though they do not yet have an iPad version. The iPhone version will work, though not at the full screen size. There are probably also third-party alternatives, one of which may suit you better.

MBP takes up to 2 minutes to sleep
