My handheld is a Tungsten E. If I install 4.2.1 rev D - Can I copy over files/folders from the 4.1 folders into the 4.2.1 rev D folders?

I'm not sure, but it seems potentially problematic. I'm not sure about copying over material from the other drive, because typically such files reside in several locations, not just one.
You would probably be better off simply installing the Palm Desktop 4.2.1 revision D on your internal [startup] volume, and using the Palm Desktop to migrate your data from your handheld to your computer. You do that by setting the contacts, calendaring, tasks and memos conduits to Handheld overwrites Macintosh for the first synchronization. Follow-on synchronization events should have the conduits set to the standard Synchronize option.
If you wish to synchronize iCal and the Address Book using iSync, instead of synchronizing to the Palm Desktop, do what I described above first, then use the Export option of the Palm Desktop to create vCal and vCard files, which you can then double-click to import into iCal and the Address Book. For best results with iSync, choose to Replace the data on your handheld rather than merge data with it. The data exported from the Palm Desktop and imported into both iCal and the Address Book is virtually identical to that stored on your handheld, so even if this does not seem intuative, it's not a risky process to engage in, and is the recommended method for an initial synchronization.

What All Do I Need If I Want To Upgrade My Macbook Hard Drive?
hey guys.
i've tried reading up a little but i was hoping someone (or a few people) could give me some straight up answers.
if i want to upgrade my macbook hard drive what all do i need? just the hard drive? or are there other pieces?

beauI got a 320GB sata 2.5" hard drive and installed it myself, its easy. I also got a caddy so I can use my old 120GB drive as a back up. Make sure u have everything backed up! Seagate and western digital drives are most popular. I asked similar q and got this answer"
Extended Hard Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.
If your backup is bootable, then boot from the external drive and use SuperDuper to clone it back to the newly installed drive.

Getting a larger hard drive...and want to upgrade to Tiger...help!

I have a dualie MDD with the stock 60 gig hard drive that I want to upgrade. I'd like a 200 or 250 gig hard drive.
Once I have the new hard drive installed, I'd like to upgrade to Tiger. But I'm lost as to how this process works. I know I'd need to clone my current OS, but then how do I clone it to the new drive once it's installed?
Would I:
1) Back my system up onto CD/DVDs/external drive/whatever
2) Create clone of system using CCC or Disk Utilities
3) Install new drive??
4) ???
5) Upgrade to Tiger??
I'm not sure if two drives running so close to each other inside the hard drive cage is a wise move considering how hot the inside of an MDD gets, so I may remove the 60 once everything is up and running.

First of all, get the new drive and install it. (Insure you buy an ATA drive and not a SATA drive.) If you need any assistance with installing, configuring, or initializing the drive, please post back.
In the interim, check for updates to your third-party apps to make sure that they will all be up-to-date and Tiger-compatible. Download a free copy of Superduper! or CarbonCopyCloner to later clone your startup drive. You can also use Disk Utility's Restore option for cloning, if you'd rather do so.
Next, you have a decision to make about the Tiger install. You can either upgrade it from Panther on your current drive, or do a fresh install of Tiger and use the Setup Assistant to incorporate your data from the Panther volume. I prefer and would recommend the latter as a much "cleaner" way of upgrading, leaving less "baggage" from the older OS. I would install Tiger directly to the new drive, which precludes the immediate need to clone anything while still leaving the original startup drive and system intact. If you'd rather do the upgrade install, then you should clone the Panther volume to the new drive, check the clone to insure it's okay, and install Tiger over Panther onto one drive or the other.
After installing Tiger, doing the software updates, moving your user files, apps etc. to the Tiger volume, you can run and test it for a week or so to insure all is well and that you have everything you need from the Panther drive. Once you're satisfied, you can then either retain the Panther volume as-is, using it as an alternate startup drive, or (preferably) you can instead erase it, zero it, and clone a copy of your Tiger volume to it as a backup and alternate startup drive.

I'm a new user of an iPad. Before my PC had iTunes (it does now), I loaded Aps from from the iStore using my daughter's PC with my iPad cable-connected. I indicated my email address and Apple password--not hers and paid for these Aps--receipts arrived via my email. Now I want to upgrade to 5.1 but the Aps now loaded on my iPad do not show up on my PC iTunes library. When I click 'Upgrade' I get a warning message that says all Aps currently on the iPad will be obliterated in the process which of course I don't want to have happen because they're not showing up on my PC which presumably means my PC is not aware of what's on my iPad. Do I have to buy these same Aps again to keep them if I'm going to upgrade to 5.1, and how do I get my iTunes on my PC to back up the Aps currently loaded onto my iPad?
You should be able to copy the apps (and any other iTunes purchases) over to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. And as long as apps remain available in the store, and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to purchase them, you should be able to re-download them in the future : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
If you are already on iOS 5+ on your iPad then you should be able to update the iPad directly on the iPad via Settings > General > Software Update . -

The Mid 2011 Mac mini supports 8 GB of memory officially, but you can install up to 16 GB of RAM, so you can use 2, 4 and 8 GB modules. You can buy more RAM from OWC or Crucial.

I want to upgrade if possible over 1GB ? my now slow computer ( iMAC 800Mhz Power PC G4 ) and a ( iBOOK 700Mhz Power PC G3 ) which I don't think I'm confident enough to change the internal memory but the user memory I think I can attempt!

MillenniumbugUnfortunatley, only imac models above 1ghz can take module of 1GB. your model can accomadate 512mb bringing it up to 768Mb which will make a decent improvement.
go to crucial.com and input your imac model to get the right type for your system. it's also best to buy from mac friendly companies as some cheaper modules wont work

Do Not post stuff about how Airplay doesnt work, because i dont have Apple TV and dont need to hear about it.If you have an external drive equal to or larger than your internal HD, clone your internal to it with either Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. Test the clone to make sure it's bootable. Then upgrade either one. Try it out first.

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.

The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.

Sorry, downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple, thus there is no official way to do so. Your phone was re-locked to the carrier it was originally locked to because you hacked it to unlock it. Apple's servers detected such & re-locked your phone. You need to contact the carrier your phone is locked to if you want to get it officially unlocked.

I have an iPad 2 and used old Apple ID for iBook app; now it wants to upgrade iBook but it is "stuck" on my old ID, yet I already created a new ID but it won't let me update the App. I have everything backed up on my MacBook so if I delete iBooks on my iPad and retrieve the App under my new ID and then sync with my MacBook, will I still have all of the books, etc.?
Your purchases are tied to your Apple ID. If you bought all of the books with the old ID then AFAIK you will have to continue to use that ID in order to continue to sync those books to the iPad.
You have to update the app with the old ID so I don't see how you could keep the books with the new ID. Maybe I am wrong about this, but someone else will chime in I'm sure and correct me if I am wrong.
