Want to upgrade to Infinity but need master socket...

Our master socket is under the stairs, which will mean that it will soon be at the back of a cupboard so we need it moved so that it is in the living room where our router is.  We have had problems for several months now with our Hub 3 constantly dropping the internet connection with BT and am hoping that once socket is moved, upgrading will be a worthwhile option.   We have been all round the website and can't find out if/how we can get somebody out to do this.

Hi Katzz,
Thanks for posting. If you want to move the master socket it's called an internal shift which carries a charge of £130. You might want to consider powerline adaptors as an alternative. Let me know what you think.
Cheers
David

  • Want to upgrade to SL, but need IMOVIE 06

Hi all...Okay... I am using OS X (10.4.11), I know I need to upgrade and want to upgrade to Snow Leopar. Here's my problem..I am transferring 8mm films to my digital camcorder, then importing to IMOVIE08, then to IDVD to burn onto a dvd. The quality of the 8mm films are very poor because of the age of the films. I want to be creative when editing these 8mm home movies and IMOVIE 09 will allow me to do that by adding a theme. It will also reduce the unsteadiness which is throughout the films. After reading the threads it seems I would be better off installing IMOVIE 06 because of the quality it will produce when burned onto a dvd. So...if I upgrade to Snow Leopar, which will give me IMOVIE 09, can I also install IMOVIE 06? Is it still available to purchase? Will having IMOVIE 06,08 and 09 screw up my computer? Any comments will be helpful..thanks

    Hi
iLife 6 - not fore sale any more. Only second handed on eg e-bay
I would if I could use Snow Leopard take a look on FinalCut Express.
Very different - but when learned a tremendous freedom.

  • Want to take up infinity but need advice

    Hi,
I have very recently returned to BT and am aware that the FTTC in my area is due to be completed by end of June.
My present service is just 10gb as a stater for free 3 months.
What's my best option regarding taking up the infinity service when it's rolled out?
I seem to recall something about having "unlimited" or 40gb giving automatic infinity option or am I mistaken?
    Thanks for any comments.
    Stuart.

They are several options which are listed here http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=25633
They do have an offer with 10Gb limit at the moment but normally there are two products
BT Infinity Option 1 40 Mb/sec down 2 Mb/sec up download download limit of 40Gb each month
    BT Infinity Option 2 40 Mb/sec down 10 Mb/sec up unlimited download.
Prcing is complex as there are so many package deals but which one suits you depends on how you use the internet. Minmum contract is 18 months. By the way BT apply traffic management to torrents etc.

  • Is there a cd drive that can be externally connected with my macbook pro unibody version approx. 2007? My cd drive is broke and want to upgrade to lion but need to update to snow leopard first.

Is there an external cd drive that can be connected to my macbook pro, unibody, approx 2007. My cd drive is broken and I want to install snow leopard which only comes on a cd.

Yes Any exrernal DVD drive that connecs by USP port will work. It does not have to be sold by or have the Apple name on it to work. I use an Asus, got it from newegg.com. $30US.

  • I want to upgrade to mavericks but my disk needs to be repaired but i have the wrong disk

i want to upgrade to mavericks but my disk needs to be repaired with a disk. so i did a disk utility verify and it told me i needed to repair it with another disk.
but my mac was preinstalled with snowleopard and the disk that came with it is mac 10.5 so when i tried to do a start up with the disk it just freezes the moment i click on the start up disk. (did this by trying holding down option/alt button since holding down the C button just locks my screen to the gray screen)
and 'repair disk' is greyed out.  and i read somewhere that you can't boot with a disk that is lower than what the mac is.
    what can i do?
in case anyone asks for my model:
it is a macbook pro early 2011 model with preinstalled snowleopard

You need to boot using the 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD that you bought from the Apple Store.
If your machine had 10.5 when you got it then in order to upgrade to 10.6.8 you must have purchased 10.6. If you've lost that DVD you can buy it again from the Apple Store.

Under this address, CC has been purchased in July  21st, 2014, that is the reason it is not allowing further purchase as under one Adobe ID, only one subscription of CC( Individual, single app, Team) can be activated & used.

  • I am running 10.7.5 on an imac and I want to upgrade to Yosemite but I have no app store on my computer. Is there a way I can get the app store on my imac?

I am running 10.7.5 on an imac and I want to upgrade to Yosemite but I have no app store on my computer. Is there a way I can get the app store on my imac?

If you don't have it then you will have to reinstall Lion:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, or Yosemite
OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it isthree times faster than wireless.
Then you can download and install Yosemite if your computer meets the system requirements:
    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks/Yosemite - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Yosemite
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?

  • HT4623 i have iphone 4 with 4.3.2 version, i want to upgrade the software. but my phone is not getting synchronised on itunes and not getting detected. please help me

i have an iphone 4 with 4.3.2 version, i want to upgrade the software. but my phone is not getting synchronised on itunes and not getting detected. also there is no update software tab under settings.please help me

If your phone isn't being recognized by your computer, you need to follow the steps in this article to resolve that
Also, some basic isolation needs to be done. Does it show up in itunes on any other computers? do you have other cords you can test with to see if it might be the cord? if the phone doesn't show up on any computers, it's likely your phone has a hardware issue
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538?viewlocale=en_US is the article to use if you want to concentrate on trying to get a particular computer to recognize your phone

  • In Hongkong. I want to buy new iMac, But need to sell old one first. Where is good for sell??

    Please help me.
    Please give me a suggestion.
I want to buy new iMac, but need to sell old one.
    About following the info.
How much can sell and where is good for sell?
Processor  2.93 GHz Intel Core i7
    Total Number of Cores:          4
    Processor Interconnect Speed: 4.8 GT/s
    Memory  8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)
    1TB harddisk
    Warranty to 02/Aug/2013
    Thank you for your help.

When you sell your iMac, please remember that if you bought Mountain Lion upgrade at the app store, the license is not transferable and you need to erase the drive and reinstall the original system (which was most likely Snow Leopard?). If you don't do that, the buyer can never reinstall Mountain Lion because the license is tied to your Apple ID forever.

Yes I meet the system requirements
    OK...
Contact Apple in your Country to Purchase a Snow Leopard Disc...
And the Download Code for Lion...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
After the Successful Install of SL...  Run Software Update and Update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8...
Next go to the Mac App Store and Purchase Lion... Using your Download Code...
    BUT...
Before attempting any Major Upgrade... get yourself an External Hard Drive... and create a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive...
By far the easiest way to make such a Backup, is to use something like
    SuperDuper  http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
    or CCC  http://www.bombich.com/
That way, should anything untoward happen during the Upgrade,
    You will NOT LOSE ANYTHING.
(Get an EHD that is at least equal to your current Drive...)
You will also need more RAM... Get the Maximum you can for your Mac...
It is important to get the Correct and Matching RAM
    See Here  >  OWC RAM  >  http://www.macsales.com/
    Lastly... with regards to Lion...
Check here for compatibility of 3rd party Software you may be using...

You can't do it without a computer, although once you get ios5 that necessity will be gone. I would recommend taking it into the apple store. They will do it for you.

I am running 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro 5.3. I want to upgrade to Maverick but am concerned that I will loose all contacts in my AddressBook. What can I do to save them?

File menu, Export, Address Book Archive. (I think that's where it is in SL).
However, do you not have a full backup of your Mac? Upgrading without one is not really advisable unless your contacts are all you care about.
