Want to use more CPU on FME 3.2

Hi,
I have a machine 4x 6-core Xeon with 16GB RAM and want to take advantage of it.
I'm streaming H.264 , resolution 1280x720  and the CPU only used like 3% to 6%
Is there any way to make the FME use more of CPU (like for better compression at low bandwidth)
Thanks for any kind response,
mys4535

Thanks for your reply.
Of course, if I increase bit-rate then quality will improve.
If I streaming with 1 CPU socket 775 Core 2 Quad it used almost 60% for action movie.
Correct me if I'm wrong, CPU usage is to use for compression and my CPUs only used at 6 -> 10% . How can I increase CPU usage to encode to lower the bandwidth?
I just build a powerfull MAC Server by using hackintosh.
Will FME running on MAC is better quality then using on Windows?

  • Make Spotlight (& the OS) use more CPU power?

I've noticed that a lot of the time that the OS, specifically when using Spotlight doesn't use all of it's power.
For example I have iStat menus displaying the CPU usage. When I do Spotlight searches I'll start typing but before I can finish typing my search Spotlight will start grinding away, not letting me finish what I want to type. But looking at the CPU usage in the menu bar both cores are only at around 50%. I'll have to wait for Spotlight to calm down before I can finish typing my search.
I looked around in System Preferences > Energy Saver > Options & set Processor Performance to highest but it seems a lot of the time the OS doesn't use as much CPU power as it could.
Is there any way to make the OS, specifically when using Spotlight use more CPU power?

Spotlight will use as much CPU as it needs - It really doesn't take that much unless it's drawing image previews, etc.... The other-and probably more important- issue is hard disk speed and whether or not the disk is doing anything else when you initiate the search.

  • Logic 9.1.5 using more CPU in 64 bit mode

    Yesterday updated to Logic 9.1.5
Have opened up projects in both 32 bit and 64 bit mode (but only 32 bit kernel as my mac pro is too old for 64 bit kernel).
Projects in 64 bit mode spike the CPU meter, and result in clicks and pops during playing.
Quit Logic, change to 32 bit mode, reopen same project. CPU meter reading lower, no clicks and pops on playback.
Now its an older machine (Mac Pro 1,1) and I am also running Vienna Ensemble Pro with a 9 GB template loaded up, but not connected to these projects I am opening, naturally this is taking resources.
Anyone else notice similar results, that the 64 bit mode causes projects to use more CPU?

In 64bit mode, are you using any 32bit 3rd party plugins within these projects? The 32bit bridge might be taking a hit on the cpu. From my experience, Logic in 64bit mode with 64 bit plugins has slighly less cpu usage than 32 bit mode. You may want to try a project with only Logic plugins in both modes for a true comparison on your machine.

  • RMAN parameters - to use more CPU for Backup & Restore

    Hi Friends,
I am using RMAN backup on 11g database on windows.
RMAN is taking almost 1 hr to restore the database and i could see the CPU usage is very less - less than 10% during restore.
so how can i make the RMAN backup and restore faster by using more CPU on windows.

Even better, check the wait events in your database and you'll know why the backup / restore is not as expected.

  • Urgt:How to identify TOP 5 SQL using more CPU time  without using statspack

How to identify the TOP 5 SQL queries which are consuming more CPU time during the timespan of 24 hours for entire database. There are N number of users who have issued sql queries, out of which few users have disconnected and few user are still connected to the database(I need to consider all sessions). My database version is 9.0.1. I don't want to use statspack. Is there any way to identify TOP 5 SQL consuming more CPU time without affecting the performance of the database. Can any one help me on this? Its urgent!!. I don't want to use statspack becasue it degrades the performance and i cannot afford to run it for 24 hours.

You don't run statspack for 24 hours, that would infact be pointless...
Run statspack for say a 10 or 15 minute window during a particular "busy" period on your database. If you run it for longer then all the useful data will have been "averaged out". You want a snapshot in time, not an average over the day.

  • Slow Export FCP X, need to use more CPU %

    Hello Hello!
Thanks in advance for your help!
I am trying to export a video from FCP X and it is taking forever! My end goal is to run it through compressor, when I sent it to compressor from FCP X it said it was going to take 4 hours. This is a 12 minutes clip. Shot on 3 different cameras.
I read a number of forums and many people advised me to first export it using fcp X - Export Media (Apple + E) and then run it through compressor. That this was the fastest way.
It has been exporting for the last hour and has 80 minutes left.
I have opened up activity monitor and noticed that around 60% of my CPU is idle. When working in FCP X usually my this number is usually down at 15%.
Basically, how can I use more of CPU power to speed up this process? Is there a reason why so much of my CPU is not being used?
Is it running slowly because it has to transcode 3 different video files that all use different codecs?
What would be the best way to speed this whole process up?!
    Specs:
Mac Book Pro 2.8 Ghz i7 with 8G RAM
    Mac OS X 10.6.8
    FCP X 10.0.2
    Video file 1: 1920 × 1080 H.264 shot on Panasonic HD Handicam
    Video File 2: 1920 × 1080 H.264 shot on Go Pro 2
    Video FIle 3: 720 × 576 m2v1 MPEG 2 shot on Old sony dvd handicam - I know, I need a new third camera.

    Hi Giles,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Yes, all the files were optimized when imported.
However the timeline was not rendered. Only when using this particular project (Lots of different video files and effects on every single clip) the background render take FOREVER. I left it on last night while i was asleep and 8 hours later it still had 15% to go.
I tried exporting again - and it was quicker this time - only 1 hour for a straight export - but the point is I still had to background render for 8 hours to get it down to that speed.
You ever experienced background rendering that takes that long? And advice on why its taking so long.
Surely even with a lot of effects - keyer & masking - it should never take 5+ to background render a 11 minutes clip.

  • Why isn't OCR using more CPU power for quicker recognition?

    Hello,
I'm currently running OCR (optical character recognition) aka. text recognition in Acrobat Pro XI, and it goes fairly slowly. I am wondering why this process cannot be sped up. I thought maybe this was the maximum capacity of my processor, but this is clearly not the case.
Indeed, the resource usage looks like this:
8% of CPU, about 100-150mb of RAM during OCR.
I would have expected much larger resource consumption for such a computationally heavy task. Indeed, I want more resource usage to get the task done quicker.
I have a Intel Core i7 5820K processor (6-core), and 16GB of DDR4 RAM at 2133mhz. This doesn't seem to be making use of the hardware I purchased.
What can I do to make it faster? Or is this functionality simply not coded in a way that can exploit the full power of my PC?
    Thanks.

The hardware is not all that relevant. The local machine can (and typically does) have many processes making demands.
Even if a dedicated, no other features, OCR desktop application is used one would have to kill all the other processes to optimize availability of resources.
For wham-bam performance you'd go with servers and server products.
The slip stream of their passage can rock you. But, such is expensive.
    Be well...

  • MAC MINi Use More CPU - More RAM ?

My Mac Mini 2012 Server i7 2.6 2tb has just had its RAM upgraded from 4gb to 16gb . When doing a simple task like downloading and installing all my Apps
it uses , according to Activity Monitor , only 4 - 7 % of CPU and 4gb or less of RAM . Consequently it is taking hours and hours to complete this  simple task .
Internet is not brilliant but not too slow either .
Is there something ' holding back ' the Mini ? Is there a setting that I can tweak ? I assumed it would fly through simple tasks like this.
Also , when put to sleep , the white display light powers on and off for a few minutes but then goes solid white again giving the impression of being on and when I return to screen sharing the login page is visible . Does this mean that it is not staying in ' Sleep Mode ' ??
    Apologies for Noob Questions
    ~M~

First the downloads, open Safari and go to the following
    website:
    http://www.speedtest.net
and run an internet speed test.  Then do the math to figure
how long a download should "ideally" take.  Remember that
there is more to download speeds than just the raw data
rate.  Server loading, the type of network you are on and
its activity can contribute greatly to large file down loads.
RAM and CPU have little to no impact when it comes to
downloading data over the internet, unless of course there
is a background task hogging CPU, which it does not seem
    in your case.

  • Wanting to use more than one time entry in cube

My original question came from joining tables to be used in a cube. This all works fine now but for my specific application I want to join tables with the following specifics.
Both tables contain the key ID
Table 1 contains a Payment Type 1 date and amount - eg. TV 001 commission paid 1 JAn
Table 2 contains a Payment Type 2 date and amount - eg  TV 001 payment received 3 FEb
I wanted to join the tables because there are a lot of attributes in TAble 1 that I'd like to use and have in the same entry line. But now it seams that the cube is not going to allow me to enter 2 dates, even if each is assigned to different key figures. (Or maybe I don't know how to set that up)
The other possible solution that I can think of is to somehow get the attributes from table 1 and keep the entries seperate

Is ZDATE  just a custom name you entered. Why does it create the 0CALDAY attribute, I thought you would have to specify this.
Do these attributes still fall under the Time Dimension or do I have to create a different dimension

  • Can I use more than one Apple ID for an Apple TV?

I wanted to use more than one Apple ID account on my Apple TV, is that possible?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only use one ID for purchasing from the Apple TV, but you can stream content from multiple libraries even though they have different ID's

  • Can I use more than one transition when creating a slideshow in IDVD

I want to use more than one transition in IDVD when creating a slideshow, is this possible?

Not so. Under Windows select Photos.
That will show the Media Browser in the lower right hand corner of iMovie.
Use the File ➙ New Project to create a new project.  Select the photos from iPhoto you want to create a movie from and drag into the new project area.
From there add your transitions, music, etc.

  • If I use more than 1 skype name and password, do I...

I have several skype names, and if I want to use more than 1, do I need to have a separate account for each name, or do the minutes purchased apply to my email address, not to the skype name?

Hi, sunandfun7, and welcome to the Community!
Each Skype name is a different account, so anything purchased by that account can be used only for or on that account.  In other words, purchases are tied to a specific Skype account, not to an e-mail address.
    Kind regards,
