Want to use .wav file as text tone...

I'm new to the iphone world. I have a .wav file on my PC that I want to use as a text tone on my phone (it's short enough). Can I email file to my phone (gmail), open it up on phone, and save it somehow to the phone, so that I can use it as a tone? I was able to do it that way on my Android. Thanks in advance!

  • I am writing an interactive book and want to use media files and stuff.

I am writing an interactive book and want to use media files and stuff. My question is: If I want to sell this book in the iBookstore,
may I use photos I find on google images and media i find on youtube? Or must all be my own stuff?

No !  well not just any photo image or "media". The person who created the photo images has a copyright protection IF  he/she wishes to impose it - ditto video and other  media.
However if its out of copyright by  virtue of age and certain other factors - its considered in "The Public Domain" which is why you see paintings by the Impressionists all over chocolate boxes and posters to name but two!
There are websites offering images donated by the creators and all for free.
Taking and using a picture you do not own copyright and placing online where it can be downloaded is  first "publishing" and you  need permission and placing in a situation where it can be copied and re-distributed is a breach of copyright.
Look at the  tail end credits on any DVD...  the above is always  included.
Others rmay  correct me but Copyright in some countries is vaild from creation until 50 years after the death of the creator. However, that is not always the case.  Example, assume I am bequeathed a photo archive and on the  last day year 50,  I  publish a completely new version of the archive, wizzed through Photoshop, cleaned, cropped and modified in other ways.. then I can assert my claim for copyright of the renewed archive, but its a bit more complicated!!!
You can search for "Free Photo Images (  media) , or royalty free images and if you land on a particular website you can ask permission. If you send me a request, my reply will be NO... and you get a warning of dire consequences if your infringe my copyright!  Other may be more lenient and in fact feel pretty good to be  asked.
A way to get some guidance is to check out Wikipedia and the many  images included in its subject matter, check out the copyright status.
Beware of using  photo images of paintings in  Galleries and Museums, they may have copyright conditions.. but one can always contact them to seek  permission.
Search  for  Copyright and ownership and it should bring up some good information. Depending on your country.. it may have its own  Copyright website. USA are more detailed than most, The UK has the 1988 Copyright Act.
Also remember that all photo images carry exif embedded data which  among other things carries the copyright information and shows up in a google search for the right  keyword!  Scanned images processed through Photoshop and other editors  can have the metatdata added also.

  • Using .wav file format in GarageBand (GB)?

I am importing files from a Zoom H4n recorder in to GB.  I am using 4 mic's so the Zoom recorded saves two files, one for one set of mic's and one for the other set of mic's.  They are in .wav format.  When I import the two files in to GB, they get converted to .aif format.  It seems to compress the files since the file size shrinks.  For example, the .wav files are 140 MB each.  After importing them in to GB, the .aif file is 104 MB.  I want to keep the .wav format.  Is there a way to do that in GB or do I need another software application that will allow me to edit in .wav and save it in .wav?  Thanks.

Which version of GarageBAnd are you using?
When I import .wav files to GarageBand 10.0.3 and open the .band project with ctrl-click > Show Package content, I can see, that the .wav files are stored "as is", in the original format in the Media > Audio Files folder.
But the edited song cannot be bounced as a wav file. You can only export from GarageBAnd as AIFF, MP3, or AAC.

  • Use downloaded ringtone as text tone (no jailbreak)?

I just got my iPhone about 4 days ago and I'm having trouble finding a way to use a ringtone as a text tone. Through some searching on the web the only way I saw people were able to do this is with a jailbroken iPhone which I don't want to do. Is there any other way to do this?

Yes, the only way to do this is to jailbreak your iPhone. I personally do not want to do that, though I very much wish that Apple would allow for customization of this via the configurations or a third party app.

  • Why doesn't Garage Band use wav files?

I would like to use Garage Band to edit wav files I have, but it won't recognize them - only seems to work with songs I imported from cassette tapes.  Why?

Thanks for the suggestion.  I do have the option to use Total Recorder in Windows which I also have on my Mac. That is also free and I used it a lot when I had PC.  So guess that is the route I will take.  Just thought I would see if I could do it in Garage Band as the sound view is bigger than in TR, and also I wouldn't have to switch over to Windows.  By the way, does Audacity take up a lot of space on the hard drive?  I don't want to clog it up with too much stuff.

  • I was able to use one of my itunes songs for my ringtone but can I use one for my text tone?

I was able to use one of my itune songs for a ringtone but I'd like to use one of my own songs for a text tone.  Is that possible?

  • Want to replace Wav Files with Apple Lossless in the same folder...Scripts?

    Hello!
I have about 4,000 wav files (wow) that I digitized from Vinyl. I organize my media folder myself (I have the organize option unchecked in preferences) and most of the songs are not properly tagged. I would love to convert the wav files to apple lossless and have Itunes save the file in the same folder from where it originated. I havent found a way to do this yet. Its weird to me that I can select a song in a playlist and hit "Show in Finder" and it knows exactly where it is yet when I convert files to apple lossless they end up in the "unknown artist-unknown album" folder. Anyone have any ideas or is there any scripts that can do this for me ? thanks so much!!
I had found one script that deletes the original wav files but still the new apple lossless are still put in the unknown album folder.....
    Zeke

When iTunes converts a file, it does not allow you to direct the location of the output file, but rather places it according to the Artist/Album tags, which in your case are unknown.
Almost every other conversion tool allows you to direct the location of the output. There are not a huge choice that run on the Mac and support Apple Lossless, but a good one is Max.

  • I want to use .mov files on a pc

I'm trying to play movie files I've created in Final Cut on PowerPoint in a PC. I've used Compressor to create different sizes of the movies, and iSkysoft Video Converter to make mpeg and wmv files. However, when I actually get the files to a PC, problems develop. A "Medialooks" watermark shows up on the video, and though the video plays correctly once or twice, now the screen simply goes white, no matter what format we use.
Any suggestions on a fool-proof way of getting a PC to play what we've created on a Mac? This will be for distribution to several users.
    Thanks for any ideas.

Or, use Telestream's Flip4Mac Studio to generate WMV files in the Mac.

  • Text to wav files - make it sound human voice?

Hi, I have a program called text to wav, it lets you type in whatever you want to say (I'm doing this for a movie I'm puttiing together, creating voices for the "actors" b/c my actors aren't real people, they're to be human models created in 3DS max) in a text field (you have your pick of which voice to use, MS mike voice, MS sam voice, or MS mary voice), then you can save it as a wav file.
Ok, i did this, and I've loaded it into audition (my version of audition is from adobe CS 2 suite) and I'm using the Adobe Audition classroom in a book for this version of audition to attempt to make this voice sound human, that is, more like a human's voice would sound, and so far, I think I'm getting the results I want in this wav file, but I'd like to upload it to this post so you guys can take a look at this file.
how do I upload a wav file to adobe forums so I can receive help with it?
i see the video upload link, i tried this, but it says to upload as a youtube file, and at this point i'm not too confortable with putting any of the audio files (created from text to wav) or video animation files (created from 3ds max) out on youtube/the internet yet, since my movie is not yet finished/burned on dvd for distribution at this time, so how do i do this so I can receive help with this audio file?
my laptop is a dell xps m1530 running xp home sp3, 4 gigs ram, 1 TB hdd,
    thanks in advance.

    Ha Ha!
You seriously think that Adobe would let you post an audio file on its audio software forum?
Yeah, well we did too. Unfortunately the people who run the forum software don't seem to understand that (or a lot else that we've asked about), so you simply can't do it.
Get a Dropbox basic account, put your file in the dropbox folder on your computer, right-click on it and find the public link, copy it and post that to the forum. The reason that I'm suggesting Dropbox specifically is that you just get a link to a file, and not to a load of download garbage that you get with other providers, which is a right PITA.

  • Can not use or convert wav files

    Hi,
Brand new user and have been trying to use wav files on the Ipod. It updates them fine, plays them fine in ITunes, yet in the Ipod it skips over them. All files from CD's are working fine. I tried to convert them to ACC?? and that didn't work either.
I would appreciate any assistance as I try and figure it all out.
    Thanks
    Mike

    Have you tried MP3?
Go to "edit", "preferences", "advanced", "importing". Then click "use error correction when reading audio disks". If this doesn't work, go back through those steps I listed till you get to the importing part of advanced. Then change the "import using" part to MP3. Then try converting the WAV songs to MP3. If this doesn't work. Try importing those cds in MP3.

  • How to use HWS files?

I'm using Soft Front Panel version 2.6 and I obtained HwS files but I can't read them so how could I read them or convert them into notepad file.
Other option are Lvm file but use very short time that's why I want to use hws files.

In the utility section of the NI-SCOPE driver is a link to the HWS file API.  It looks like a folder with waveforms on it.  This will allow you to read the file.  You can convert it  to a text file using the standard LabVIEW file tools.
Alternately, if you are into real pain, you can download the HDF5 toolsets from NCSA and create a C program to do the same, but I wouldn't advise it.  HDF5 has a very steep learning curve and the internal structure of the file is fairly complex.

    Hi,
I want to convert .wav file to .m4r (iphone ringtone) format.
I want to do it programatically. Can you tell me which header i should attach to .wav file, so that it will get converted to .m4r format?

  • Text tone

I have a iphone 3gs and it is completly updated. A while ago i bought a message alert and it saved as a ringtone. I want to put it as a text tone alert but it will not show up as a option to do so how can i apply it?

Try to email it to yourself and then drag the file to your desktop. Double click it and see if ITunes will play it. If that works, it should be saved and then can move it to your Ringtone folder if it's not already there. Then you have to go to your iPhone name on the left (e.g. "Rob's Iphone" for me) and check the Ringtone. Then re-Sync. If this doesn't work then it is most likely an unsupported file.
    Hope this works.
