Want to view Photos from iPhoto on TV set

I purchased Composite AV Cable from the Apple Store and was told that this was all I needed to view pictures from iPhoto on my TV. It didn't work because the TV didn't recognize the iPhone , so I returned the cable. Later I spoke to a friend and was told that I also needed a docking station in addition to the AV cable to view pictures on the TV.
Before I drive back to the Apple store, does anyone know if this will work. I have an iPhone 3G and I want to view pictures on an older TV set.
Thanks,

As long as you have composite input on your TV (and know how to set your TV to use that input, of course), you can view your photos from the iPhone. No need for a dock. But you must +carefully read+ the description of the cable's function, which states, +"Connect an iPod or iPhone to your television with the Apple Composite AV Cable, gather up your friends, and watch videos or slideshows together on the big screen."+
Slideshows, not photos. You must launch the Photos app, select an album (or the Library) then tap the Play button to start a slideshow. That's what is output to the TV, not just whatever picture (or other activity on the screen) is displayed - just slideshows and videos.

I have not idea how you do it with Picasa but with iPhoto you either export the photos to a desktop folder and upload from there or burns that folder to CD - or from the upload window use the media browser in the lower left hand corner of the upload windows - media ==> photos ==> iPhoto

  • I want to move photos from iPhoto to my Iphone without syncing my iphone photos to my Mac

    Hello,
I want to copy photos on my computer in iPhoto to my iphone without transfering the pictures on my phone to my computer.  I believe that the syncing feature in itunes will download the photos into itunes as well as upload the photos I've selected.  In summary:
Photos from computer to phone:  Good
photos from phone to computer:  Bad
Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks.

I want to copy photos on my computer in iPhoto to my iphone without transfering the pictures on my phone to my computer.
    Simple.
Once iPhoto opens, don't import anything..
    Just quit the iPhoto application.
I believe that the syncing feature in itunes will download the photos into itunes
iTunes does not download photos from the phone or into iTunes.
iPhoto imports them if you tell it to.

  • Viewing photos from iPhoto in Apple TV extremely slow?

Approx 9k photos in iPhoto split into events
ATV connected to iMac hosting iTunes via gigabit ethernet
iPhoto library hosted on iMac's internal SSD drive
..so you'd think it's be as quick as a quick thing.
It's crazy slow to generate the Event thumbnails and then takes forever to start viewing the photos when you choose one.
Any ideas?  Or is this 'normal'?
    Thanks!
    Adam

Ok, I think that what ur doing is on Itunes ur selecting _All photos and Albums._ Try the middle one _All events_ that will put all ur pictures in events like u have it on ur Mac.

  • I just want to view photos from a CD. How do I do that?

I installed a CD-RW with scanned photos in my disk drive.  How do I get the MacBookPro to let me view the photos?  VMWare seems to take over with a Windows viewer. Can I disable that & get, maybe iPhoto to let me view those scanned photos?  Or Adobe Photoshop (installed on my Mac)? don't know how to do all this.

Both Photoshop and iPhoto are resource hungry and will take awhile to read from the slow optical drive.  You are better off seeing if the disc mounts and dragging the pictures to a folder on the desktop.  Then you can either import them into iPhoto, browse them with Photoshop or select all, and right click open with Preview.

  • Adding photos from iphoto to ipod nano 6th generation

I want to take photos from iphoto (mac os x 10.6.8) and put them on my ipod nano 6th generation.  I can't find anything on itunes that mentions photos and my ipod doesn't show up in iphoto or applications.

Thanks. I followed through with those instructions. Now when I go to sync, I don't want everybody else's music to show up on my ipod.  How do I sync? And if I check sync only checked songs, will it sync ALL checked songs? We have alot of songs, but I don't want all of them.  How can I manually sync?
    Thanks!

  • Can no longer sync photos from iPhoto to my iPad or iPhone

I can no longer sync from iTunes to my iPad or iPhone if I want to sync photos from iPhoto.  I keep getting the following error:
"The iPad "XXXXXXXXXX" cannot be synced because it cannot be read from or written to."
If I choose not to sync photos everthing works fine.

I had a similar problem only neither my iPad nor my iPhone would sync and I was getting error 1106.
I looked it up and it said delete the iphoto cache, which I did and I also turned of syncing photos.
Now when I turn on SYNC PHOTOS FROM, the choice of Select albums........ is greyed out and cannot be clicked.
I don't want to sync my entire set of photos.

  • Problem importing photos from iPhoto

I want to import photos from iPhoto. I only want to import photos from two or three albums in iPhoto on my iMac. When I plug in the iPad Air, I choose sync from selected albums. I choose the albums I want to import from and click on "sync" or "apply". When the sync process gets to step 5, "importing photos", it stays on that step never able to proceed to step 6. Is this an iCloud problem? Thanks for your help.

I found out what the problem was. "iCloud Photo Sharing" was turned off on my iPad. Now everything is working great. I would have just deleted the inquiry, but I could not find out how to do that.

  • I am wanting to import photos  from my imac to my ipad.  the help page directed me to open the photo button under the device listing on itunes.  There is not a photo button and I am connected to the computer.  It does show buttons for books, movies, etc.

I want to import photos from iphoto to my ipad.  The help button said to press the photo button under the device list.  There isn't a photo button shown.  Could it be hidden?

If you connect and select your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, on the right-hand side of iTunes (not on the left) there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders or albums/events to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.

  • If I delete photos from iPhoto on my ipad can I reimport them to my ipad from iTunes

If I want to delete photos from iPhoto, and I have transferred them to iTunes by exporting them.  How do I delete them from the iTunes cache so I can export new photos from iPhoto?

Let me answer your question this way.... If you import photos from your iPad to your computer, and then delete them from the iPad, you will be able to transfer them back to the iPad by syncing them using iTunes, or by using a WiFi Photo Transfer app.
As long as the photos are moved to your computer for storage, you can safely delete them from the iPad.

  • Move photos from iPhoto to Pictures.

I want to move photos from iPhoto to Pictures. I exported about 16000 yesterday and trashed the iPhoto ones (still in Trash) but when I looked at the contents of the iPhoto library, they still appeared there.  Why is this?
If I've modified a pic, then export to Pictures, does the edited version get exported too?  If not, then is it deleted when I trash the iPhoto version?
Also, it seems that the date when the photo was taken is lost when I export ( it takes on the date of export).  Is there a way to retain it?

Original is just that: a byte by bye copy of the file you imported.
Current: Is the current version of the shot - this is as it exists in the Library. Exporting this will miss metadata.
The quality of the photo you export will depend on the export setting you choose.
You know, if you take a couple of seconds, iPhoto is much more flexible and easier to use than the Finder. The orgaisation, searching and sorting options are much richer. The problem with the Finder is simple: it organise files. But it makes no distinctions at all between kinds of files, and so offers exactly the same opportunities for organising your Photos, your Music, your Word files. It takes no account of standard metadata - like Exif date and so on.
iPhoto supports Raw on most cameras, and can be used as a "front end" to Photshop.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
One small conceptual leap and it might make things easier: That Jpeg is not your Photo. Easiest way to elaborate on this: In my iTunes Library I have an mp3 called 'Let_it_Be_The_Beatles'. But that mp3 is not the song. The Beatles never wrote an mp3. The wrote a song, recorded it and a copy of that recording is stored in a container. That container is adapted to the special opportunities of music, and it's an mp3 file.
Similarly, that Jpeg is just a container for your Photo.
Iphoto is about Photos. Import them, forget about the jpegs. Tiffs whatever, because they're just containers. Organise your photos - leveraging the special opportunities offered by the fact that they are photos -  and then anything you need to do with or to them can be done either with or via iPhoto.
When you export, the export dialogue simply asks you a: what you want to export (that's the kind) and everything else is about the container you want to put the Photo in.
Because, unless you export Originals, you're not exporting the file you imported, you're exporting the Photo you imported, and putting it in a new box.

  • I have moved my iPhoto to an external hard drive. so now I have to have the external hard drive connected to my laptop to view the photos.  Now when I want to import photos into iPhoto from my media card, I don't have room to connect both devices.

I have moved my iPhoto to an external hard drive. so now I have to have the external hard drive connected to my laptop to view the photos.  Now when I want to import photos into iPhoto from my media card, I don't have room to connect both devices at the same time as the usb ports are side by side.  How do I import my photos from the media card to the external hard drive now?

First transfer the photos to a folder on your MacBook using Image Capture in your Utilities folder. Then move them to iPhoto.
BTW, you might want to invest in a cheap USB hub.

  • I want to export a group of photos from iphoto.

I want to export a group of photos from iphoto. I want them to stay in the same order that I put them in. So far when I export, the photos sort according to date or name. I want them to stay in manual sort the way I set them up in the album.
I also want to import them in that order to another program. I am going to try to import them into Final Cut Pro 7. I still want them in the sorted order.
    Can this be done?
    jibetack

So, in other words, it can't be done. Once the photos are exported they lose the order I had them in in iphoto.
    Not at all
typically the easiest way it to export from iPhoto using the sequential file name option and then view in alpha order
    and
What is a better software to organize and sift through photos than iphoto?
None as far as I am concerned - that is strictly a personal decision that you have to make for yourself - Only you know what features you want - no one else does
