Wanted: 512 GB Flash option for 2.3 GHz retina model

I don't know about anyone else, but for me, the ideal MacBookPro would be 2.3GHz processor, 8GB memory, 512 GB storage. Why is storage upgrade not an option on the new retina-display MBP? If there's a technical reason anyone knows of, I'd accept it, but I can't think of one.
Anand Lal Shimpi wants one too:
"I really wish the $2199 SKU had the 512GB SSD, or at least offered it as an option - otherwise the spec is near perfect in my mind. Without a standard 2.5" SSD it's going to be difficult to just swap in a larger drive. Other companies may make replacement drives down the road, but if Apple is using Samsung's PM830 controller in here I don't know that I'd want something else." [1]
If there's anyone else out there that thinks this would be their ideal machine (and I've been waiting for the promised High DPI screens since WWDC 2006) please give a shout in this thread, hopefully there will be enough of us that Apple will try and add the option.

Because Apple has choosen not to offer that upgrade on that model. Seems fairly straight forward to me. If you want the option of the Flash upgrades you'll have to spring for the higher end model. Apple is famous for this type of thing.
Good Luck

  • External Flash Options for t4i

I recently purchased the Canon t4i and am more than a little impressed with the unit.
Years ago, I purchased a Canon Speedlite 299T external flash to be used with my Canon AE1 Program camera.  Wondering whether or not this old, but still working, flash will work with my new camera?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

"which one would be best for general purpose indoor use?"
That really depends upon you and what you need.
If you want to do a lot of bouncing off ceilings or walls, you'll probably want one of the more powerful units with a tilting and swiveling head, such as the 420EX, 430EX, 550EX, 580EX, 600ERX.
Those higher end units also allow more customization and control over the output. They also have more automated modes, for fast, easy use. The 500 and 600 series are larger.
If you will be shooting longer series of images, you will likely want a flash that recyctes as quickly as possible. The 500 and 600 series can be used with an external battery pack that speeds up recycling, especially the most recent models such as the 580EX II and later.
If you want something really compact and very simpl, easy to use (mostly automatic) unit, the 90EX, 270EX and other 200-series might be just the ticket.
If you plan to shoot a lot of video, you should check out the 320EX.
For multiple flash setups, the 500-series flashes can be used as "masters" controlling several off cameras flashes set as "slaves". The 500 series also can be set up as slaves. The 400 series flashes can only be used as slaves. There also is a module called an ST-E2 that can be used on camera to control multiple flashes off camera.
The 600EX-RT is the latest and greatest for multiflash setups... It uses radio communication, rather than the optical (near IR light) all the earlier models use. This means a lot more flexibility with wireless off-camera flash placement. The optical method required all flashes be within line-of-sight. The radio method doesn't and increases the range as well. There is an ST-E3-RT module available to act as a main controller, if you don't want a flash on camera too.
Note: All the flashes that use the optical method and the ST-E2 also can project a Focus Assist grid that can help the camera and lens achieve focus in low light. The ST-E3 cannot do this. But the 600EX-RT flash can.
I don't have a Rebel T4i, am not sure if it has built-in wireless flash control the way some Canon cameras do. If it does, that uses the built-in flash to communicate with the off-camera flashes. This might be convenient, but has the same line-of-sight limitations as the older optical triggering method, and somewhat less range. Built-in wireless uses white light to communicate, a rapid series of brief flashes... These can be a bit obnoxious in some situations. The red/near IR light used by the off camera flashes and ST-E2 module is much less intrusive. Of course, the radio communication used by the latest RT models is completely invisible and the best of all. The built-in wireless control also drains the camera's battery a lot faster, since it uses the built in flash.
Spend some time looking at the specs for each, thinking about what features you need and considering what fits your budget. There is something to fit nearly anyone's budget. You might want to get some books about using flash. Photographic lighting is a big, big field of study.
One tip, while all these flashes can be put directly into the camera's flash shoe, you might want to consider a flash bracket and an off camera shoe cord. While an accessory flash is better than the camera's built in.... it's less prone to redeye and ugly shadow effects by moving the flash head away from the lens axis.... Moving the flash even further off camera with a relatively inexpensive bracket and shoe cord setup can help improve these even more.
" but that's with the flash head pointed straight at the subject which isn't a very flattering look"
True... however a flash bracket and off camera cord can help a lot to allow you to use more direct flash, rather than having to bounce it. Bouncing a flash wastes a lot of the light output and forces the flash to fire more fully, which slows down recycling. There also are situations where bouncing is simply impossible (such as a ceiling is too far away or is painted a color other than white that can cause an unwanted tint in your images).
You also can use some diffusion with a direct flash, which costs some light but not nearly as much as bouncing the flash. I often simply use the wide angle diffusion panel that my flashes (550EXs and 580EX IIs) have built-in.
Some other accessories you might want:
There also are light modifiers that can be used on flashes, such as soft boxes and diffusion domes, so that direct flash is more flattering. Also, colored gels can be used to better match flash with ambient light... or just the opposite for special effects.
Every flash mentioned above uses standard AA batteries (the ST-E2 uses a 2CR5 battery, but it lasts for a long, long time in regular use). You can use alkalines, but might want to invest in rechargeables (such as Eneloops or similar). You'll save a lot over the long run. Plus rechargeables make for faster flash recycling. If you get one of the flashes that can use one, there are supplemental battery packs, available from Canon and elsewhere, that really help a flash recharge faster. I use serveral Canon CP-E2 and CP-E4 with my flashes. This gives a flash 10 or 12 AA batteries to draw upon, instead of just 4.

  • How to remove 'Create new employee' option for a scenario in org modelling?

    Hi Luke,
We want to remove 'create new employee' option that appears under 'actions' in details panel for a position in scenario (for org chart).
I checked in linkconfiguration folder for position, but it doesn't show this option to be disabled. I also checked detailspresentationconfiguration folder but no luck. I am assuming, it must be pretty different to achieve this for a scenario object.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Prashant

    Hi Prashant,
I'm not entirely sure this can be changed. It doesn't appear to be controlled through configuration or XSL. My guess is it is hard-coded.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
    Best regards,
    Luke

  • Graphics card upgrade options for Mac Pro (early 2008) Model 3.1

    Hi,
What are my options if I wish to upgrade the stock graphics card? I seem to remember there being one that was about £80 but I can no longer check as the site is only listing the 2009 mac pros now.
Any assistance would be gratefully received!

    Your current options are:
    ATI 2600
    Nvidia 8800
    Nvidia 5600
    Or third-party ATI 3870 Mac/PC Edition.
Presumably the new ATI 4870 will work in the Early 2008 MP, but requires OS X 10.5.7 which is not yet released. You can find benchmarks at Bare Feats.

  • Flash player for older dell inspirion 8100

i have  a used dell 8100 given to me by a good friend. i want to install flash player for the msn and facebook videos. which is the best version? it's a dell inspirion 8100 with a 996 processor, 512 ram and 2.0 virtual memory. it's windows xp pro based. thanks!

You can try installing the latest:Flash Player 13.0.0.182  or even the last supported version: Flash Player 11.2.202.350
Trouble is: The latest, while still compatible with XP, is probably too much for your processor, and the older versions will result in endless "You need the latest Flash Player" notifications, and non-working video content, especially with MSN and Facebook.

  • What are the different options for implementing web security?

    Hi,
Right now I am working on an internet website. We are using JSP for presentation and running Weblogic Application Server. I want to know different options for implementing website security. One of the options that I am aware of is to use LDAP. But we donot want to go and buy a LDAP Directory Server now. So I would really appreciate if somebody could let me know my choices here.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you are working on a Windows 2000 platform, the most obvious choice would be Active Directory Server as this is shipped free with Server 2000. It is LDAP compliant, although does have a few differences that set it apart from the other X500 standard based solutions which I will mention in a moment. Details on these differences can be found at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnactdir/html/msdn_activedirvsnds.asp
Other options are openldap, an open source implementation of an ldap server or iPlanet's Directory Server. If you are initially doing an evaluation, a trial version is available of the iPlanet software and can be downloaded from their site. I found this particularly easy to get to grips with and their is excellent documentation available. There is also an offering from Novell, but I have no experience of this.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to create select-options for 3 fields out of 5 by FREE_SELECTIONS_INIT

    Hi Experts,
I am using the Function Modules FREE_SELECTIONS_INIT and FREE_SELECTIONS_DIALOG to create the select-options dynamically on the selection screen.
My problem is that I am passing a field list of 10 fields in the FIELDS_TAB of the function.
Now it creates the select-options for all 10 fields. I want to create select-options for only 5 fields initially and let the user select out of the remaining 5 fields to create the select-options.
    How to achieve this.?
I tried by passing the 5 fields in FIELDS_NOT_SELECTED table but they get hidden and once hidden I am not able to get them back in my field list.
    Please help me out.
Useful answers will be suitably rewarded.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Enable 'Export to spreadsheet' option for solman

    Hi Experts,
I am new to the solution manager, while searching the incident via webUI the 'Dowlnload to excel sheet' option in enable for me as i'm the administrator. I want to unable this option for some users as well but by default it is not enable for the other users. I have search on scn and follow this link Disabling "Export to Spreadsheet" button on WEBUI in this they have mentioned one parameter name Export_Disable. This parameter is in CRM. When i tried to create this parameter in solman it is saying this parameter itself is not there.
Can you please tell me parameter name under solmapro business role to enable the "Export to spreadsheet" option for the solution manger for the users. Early reply should be appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Prasad Deshpande

    you can try this -
To authorize the export to spreadsheet, you can use authorization object S_GUI in SAP GUI. This authorization object is assigned to the authorization role SAP_CRM_UIU_FRAMEWORK, which is delivered in the SAP standard system.
You can disable the export to spreadsheet for individual users by removing the authorization object. You can also disable the authorization for the export to spreadsheet on business role level in Customizing.
To use this function, you must activate the business function UI Framework (UI_FRW_1).

  • Other option for SubQuery...

    Hi All
I want to Use other option for Subquery for Performance Tunning. Any Other way for this?
    Thanx in Advance

    < i don't want to Join >
You don't want to use subqueries, and you don't want to join. That limits your options as inline views and subquery factoring are both variants on subqueries.
You can go farther afield and look at the set operators which can sometimes simulate joins and subqueries but don't usually help performance, or write inline/pipelined functions as alternate ways to get the data but these are all but guranteed to decrease performance and involve a lot of extra work besides.

You could perform the following steps:
    1. Login to CMC.
    2. Go to Folders >> Manage >> Top Level Security
    3. Click on Add Principal and add the user or group for which you have to set the security.
    4. Click on assign Security >> Advanced tab >> Add/Remove Rights.
