Wanted: Adobe Ambassador in New Zealand

Hopefully one of the Adobe Staff members, or regulars, can help me out or point me in the right direction:
In April 2014, the Marlborough Camera Club is hosting the Photographic Society of New Zealand's National Convention in Blenheim.  This is a four day event with top line speakers, field trips and workshops.  In recent years John Doogun, an Adobe Ambassador based in Christchurch, has run workshops on Photoshop and Lightroom, but John does not want to run workshops anymore, and we don’t even know if there are other Adobe Ambassadors based in New Zealand.
I ran workshops based around HDR and Photoshop at the 2010 and 2011 conventions, but I am the technical officer for the convention, and I ‘really’ don’t want to get tied up in the considerable amount of time it takes to prepare for workshops at this level, and I’ll need to be available to respond to the inevitable problems on the day.
So are there other Adobe Ambassadors in New Zealand?  Tony Bridge has run Photoshop workshops in NZ, but he represents On-One and Fuji now, and is already attending our convention in those capacities.  Any other ideas, names, people to approach ???
Thanks

Hello, Trevor!
I just asked your question to an Adobe Solution Consultant in NZ...
I don't know if you already checked with: http://www.meetup.com/creative-suite-user-group/
Geoff Walker is a Community Professional, specialized in Lightroom, but he is currently in Africa, I don't know when your event takes place. https://www.facebook.com/#!/geoffwalkernz

  • Adobe gouging its New Zealand customers

"20% of Adobe products" appears to be a scam. It says 20% off on the Adobe NZ site and the price (for Master Collection upgrade) is still A$836.36, which is the same, as I recall, as the price before the “discount”. This translates to NZ$1,104.80! On the US site the FULL price is US $549.00 (NZ$711.28).
Adobe is gouging its NZ customers! We are expected to pay a nearly 60% markup dressed up as a 20% discount!? Don’t support Adobe – they’re scumbags!
I wouldn't be making this post to this forum if Adobe made themselves available to their customers but they are so ABOVE any normal communication with us lowly customers. There is NO WAY to contact them by email on the website, or if there is it is completely hidden, and I tried ringing the 800 number and was left in a queue for HALF AN HOUR before I gave up. They overcharge, and are too arrogant to provide any decent customer service.

Well I'm sorry to say but you're wrong, just tried signing up with a dummy account. See the screen below. Clicking on the "Accept" button takes you to the payment screen, with NO request for confirmation of previous Adobe packages.
This is an offer being made to NEW customers, period. No previous allegiance to the brand. My point of view stands, Adobe should really step up and offer something in return to those customers who've been paying full price for CC since the beginning. This $30 introductory rate shouldn't be offered 3 years in, CC isn't some break-out thing trying to gain traction anymore, it has a massive install base. This is spitting in the face of people who've always been on board. kglad

I currently run the Design and Web Premium CS6 on a first generation MacBook Air and want to buy a new MacBook Pro. How do I know whether I can install my Adobe programs onto the new computer? Because I know there is some kind of limit.
Also, I had to install the software twice on my same computer before because I had to reboot the computer. I don't know if this affects the limit.

You are allowed to have two activated installations so there should not be a problem having working installations on the two machines.  If by chance you have somehow tied up two activations for the one machine you can have Adobe support help resolve that thru chat.

I have iMovie 8.0.6 and an iPhone 4S.  I took hours of videos on vacation (Australia and New Zealand) and want to make a movie.  I've imported the first batch into iMovie and started the project.  I just realized that I shot both horizontally and vertically and when I preview (on full-screen) what I've combined, first it's wide-screen, then it's tall, narrow with wide black sides.
The film looks choppy, no flow, since it alternates horizontally and vertically.
I can import the vertical clips two ways:  "Full-Original Size", or "Large 960x540."  But the vertical clips have very short, fat people.
This didn't happen with my Flip HD; the movies are smooth and terrific.  My heart is breaking.....please, how can I make the videos match?

Yes, I'd like to use all the video I shot, put it together with music, titles, etc. and make it consistant.  when it goes from full screen to this vertical, narrow clip, it's very awkward.....and it's so narrow, it's hard to see what I'm looking at; my eyes don't make the adjustment quickly.

  • I'm Emigrating from the UK to New Zealand and don't want to lose my stuff.

    Hey all,
I'm emigrating to New Zealand on Monday (I've left it late, I know), and I have an iPad 2 and an iPhone which I intend to basically use as an iPod Touch for the forseeable future.
I've downloaded hundereds of apps, lots of music and some video and I'm wondering how I can have that all available to me in NZ?  Should I try to put it on a hard drive?  Will I just be able to access it on the iCloud?  What about when I get a new bank account etc, and need to transfer my iTunes account to NZ - will I lose my stuff then or what?!  Obviously it's cost me a few quid over the years so I would not be happy about losing all my apps!
I'd be very grateful if anyone had any ideas...
    Thanks
    Danzish

I see no-one replied to this, but I'm about to do something similar, I and my partner are of to Oz, and we have 4 ipods and 2 iphones between us - will they work in Oz?  Did all your stuff transfer okay?

  • When I set up my ipad I mistakenly ticked that I am in Australia.  I did not realise this until I tried to input my credit card info and it wanted my Australian State.  I redid everything for New Zealand, but it still wants an Aussie State! What do I do?

How do I get the ipad to ask for my New Zealand province after I went back and changed my location to New Zealand.  Until I get that right I won't be able to use the istore.

You set your country according to your credit card billing address.
You can edit your info here:

  • Can I use a copy of CS3 from the states in New Zealand?

I live in New Zealand and I use a laptop I brought when I lived in the UK. My sister wants to buy me a present from the states and I would like to get Adobe CS3 design standard. Does anyone know if I can use that copy in New Zealand?
    Thanks!

I believe the answer is yes. This was discussed a lot after CS3 was released.

  • How do I upgrade from CS5.5 to CS6 and how much does it cost in New Zealand?

How do I upgrade from CS5.5 to CS6 and how much does it cost in New Zealand?

If you don't want to go the Cloud route and subscribe then Adobe still sells CS6 (online only) via their website
    http://www.adobe.com/au/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_s l_creativesuite6.html
(make sure you're in the NZ store - check the Country the link above the Copyright at the bottom LHS of the page)
Select your product then click Buy
I want to buy: Select Upgrade from the dropdown menu
    I own: <select your existing CS5.5 product>
    Complete your purchase.
Upgrade cost depends on which CS5.5 suite you own and which CS6 suite you want to upgrade to.

  • Crossgrading in New Zealand

I want to crossgrade my Photoshop from my PC to my Mac, however in the instructions on the Adobe site, it says to go to the support portal, however there is not an option for my country (New Zealand) and so none of the links work. This tends to suggest that I cannot crossgrade my product. Can anyone offer an insight into whether I can or can't crossgrade - and if I can, how?

Currently only perpetual CS6 can get a platform switch from Adobe.  Subscription applications can be used on either platform. Only current version of perpetual Adobe product can be platform switched as far as I know the only link I have is Order product | Platform, language swap
Don't know if there is a different link for New Zealand.
    Platform or language swap policies
All product configurations, except for OEM bundles, are eligible for a platform or language swap.
You can also change your platform or language when you upgrade. Contact us to find out if you qualify for a platform or language upgrade.
You must give up all licensing rights to your current platform or language version.
You cannot swap previous versions of a product.
After swapping platforms or languages, you cannot cross back to your original platform or language version.
No more than five total (lifetime) cross-platform or cross-language upgrades or swaps are allowed per customer, regardless of the product.
Products purchased second-hand or from an auction site such as eBay are not eligible for swaps.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite: New Choices for Customers

Adobe has announced the new Cloud-based model for software distribution, along with new terms for boxed product upgrade eligibility. Beginning with the CS6 releases, when they happen, upgrade pricing on boxed products will only be availble one generation back. There is a limited window to upgrade now to the current versions at a discount.
    See http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2011/11/adobe-creative-cloud-and-adobe-creative-suite -new-choices-for-customers.html

    Eugene:
Based on the current information we have (from the blog post), which may not be correct and which you should not rely upon:
There is some confusion about the word "discount." As used in the blog post, in general there are no "discounts" for upgrades, there is the upgrade price and there is full price. But, also in the blog post, there is a special "discount upgrade" if you choose to upgrade to CS5.5 today (prior to Dec. 31, 2011), which is 20% off the regular upgrade. However, Peter used the word "discount" to distinguish between upgrade pricing and full price. It's probably a good idea to avoid using that word there because of the potential for confusion.
I have CS5 InDesign in work. So I will be able to upgrade that to CS6 when it comes out at the discount price?
You will be able to upgrade to CS6 at upgrade pricing. Not the 20% discount, but it is "discounted" from the full price of CS6.
I'm still using CS2 Illustrator and Photoshop, for the little work I do in those programs, they're fine. But if I want to upgrade them to CS6 I have to pay the full amount of an upgrade, with no discount... or will I have to pay for CS6 in full for both of these programs?
You will have to pay the full price (not the "full amount of an upgrade," whatever that means).
If you elect to upgrade to CS5.5 prior to Dec. 31 of this year, however, then then you can pay the discounted upgrade price to upgrade to CS5.5 (well, CS5 since Photoshop CS5.5 doesn't exist), and then you can pay the CS6 upgrade price in March/April. So you can pay for no upgrades (full price) or two upgrades (one of which is 20% off).
At the moment I can upgrade CS2, photoshop and Illustrator for €240 each, to CS5. So wouldn't I just be able to do that now and then buy the CS6 upgrade at a much later date perhaps just before CS7 comes out?
    Yes, you can do that.
If CS6 has the tools to basically go "File>Export>Epub" and I get a fully working epub file without having to trash about in code afterwards or make complex tagging in InDesign, then I'll be buying it.
It looks like EPUB is evolving pretty fast, so even if ID CS6 fully supports what you want out of EPUB on Day 1, I bet you'll need to be prepared to postprocess it on Day 2. Or at least long before Day 200.
