Wanted:  BV/Crystal report writer

Post Author: Heather
CA Forum: General
Hi,
We're looking for a Crystal Report writer that is familiar with Sage BusinessVision. We would like to have an existing BV report customized.
If you are familiar with BV, it would be great to hear from you!
Thank you,Heather

Hi,
When you publish your report, right-click the report and go to Default Settings.  In the Database Configuration, set the logon information and at the bottom make sure you select Use same database logon as when report is run.
This will have the report use these settings and not prompt the user to logon to the database.
Thanks,
Brian

    Hi,
You should have sap integration tool kit for Business Objects to access sap objects into BO or Crystal Reports.

  • Intgration of crystal reports in Apex

    Hi,
I want integrate crystal reports with apex.
Could any body tell me , is it possible ?

Yes, I'm familiar with Apex's report options. That's fine, but here's the deal: We are on the west coast and our parent company is on the east coast along with the server holding our company's Oracle database and all the security along with it. Our company uses PeopleSoft and I create Crystal Reports that are stored in PS. Because I have to do all of my development remotely, it is ridiculously slow (up to 5 seconds and sometimes even 11 per mouse click - you can pull our your violins, but I'm used to it.) I can write queries remotely on this database and save them as .xls or .csv files locally to dump into Apex, but have no direct access any deeper than that.
We're using APEX to convert a bunch of old Access databases and in the meantime, I thought I had the brilliant idea that if we had our own single user copy of Crystal, I could use the APEX database for Crystal, completely independently of any need for Crystal within APEX. This way, I could use the Apex database to do my development locally, then save the report remotely, open it there on the remote instance of Crystal, make the needed naming changes to formulas and fields and keep a few less gray hairs from growing.
    Make sense?

  • Can Crystal Reports Runtime 2008 be installed on other than C: Drive?

We use Crystal Reports 2008 as part of a custom database package. We have users that do not want the Crystal Reports installed on the C: drive. With this version there doesn't appear to be an option to select another drive on which to install the software. Is there a way to install on another drive?
    Thanks

When they Crystal Reports install they can select a different folder and drive to install to but some runtime will be installed on C drive, no option to move it all to another drive.
ALSO, You should NOT have both BOE XI R2 and 3.1 on the same PC, they are not side by side. CR Designer is but BOE.
I suggest starting over and keep them on separate PC's, use the migration tool to import from old to new but you should log a case to get your BOE system cleaned up and the data migrated to separate PC's.

  • Crystal Reports setup problem (?)

    Hello,
I have recently taken over the role of creating/updating our Crystal Reports and have of course installed the software on my PC just as is explained in the installation guide and have set up the ODBC datalink.
I decided to leave it installed on the old user's PC until I got it working properly just in case I had any problems. Good job I did.
The reports we create are used by a bespoke software called Access Supply Chain.
When I create/modify a report on this newly installed instance, save it to our reports folder and reference it in Supply Chain, the report only blinks on-screen for a fraction of a second and then vanishes.
If I then go to the old machine and open the report there and re-save, it works fine.
I've checked settings between both machines and can't find anything that differs.; I'm possibly missing something very simple.
Could anyone give me any clues as to what the problem is?
    Many thanks
    - Chris

    Chris,
The forum that you have posted your question in is for questions related to the SAP Business One SDK.  Your question is related to the Crystal Report Writer.  You should post these types of questions in the Business Objects Forum here on SDN at

  • Integrate Crystal Reports 2008 in Lotus Notes 8.x

We allready use Crystal Reports 2008 with Lotus Notes 8.x trough NotesSQL 8.5. This works fine.
Now we want integrate Crystal Reports 2008 directly in Lotus Notes 8.x. so that the user can start reports directly from his Lotus Notes Application. Of course, data has to be retrieved in realtime (not with data stored in the report) and he should be able to pass parameters from a lotus notes form.
All informations we found are quit old (Crystal Reports 8.5 and Lotus Notes R5). Does anyone has an idea how to start and where to find new documentations? Is there maybe even a sample application availabl?
    Any help is welcome!

  • Crystal Report 2011 compatibility with dot net 1.1

    Hi,
WE have a .dot net application in framework 1.1 where we were using crystal reort 9. we are now upgrading to crystal reports 2011 .
    1) is crystal reports 2011 runtimes compatable with dot net 1.1
    2) Where can i find the runtimes for crystal reports 2011. for this i was ealier given a Visual studio 2010 crystal reports runtime. ths file was called CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_1.msi. but when i install this it has a readme file which says the following.
If you have installed Crystal Reports 2011 or any of the SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 products,
you may notice that their installation contains the same "Crystal Reports 2011" and "SAP
BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0" folders as you see in this folder.  Please note that the
folder/files names may be the same but most files have a different version, and are not
compatible with the Crystal Reports 2011 or SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 products.
the way i am reading this seems that the runtime i have is not the one i want for Crystal reports 2011
    Thanks
    Ravinder Akkaraju

    A bit of a historical review;
    VS2010 came out
We created a version of CR that integrates with VS2010. This is Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 (v 13.x), also refered to as CRVS2010
At a later time CR 2011 was released. This version has no SDK.
However, any report created in CR 2011 can be run with CRVS2010, as well as the CR 2008 (v. 12.x) runtime.
As CRVS2010 is for VS2010 only, and VS2010 does not support framework 1.1, CRVS2010 does not support framework 1.1
If you want to use report create in CR 2011 with framework 1.1 based application, you will need to obtain CR 2008 which will install the correct runtime.

  • Crystal Reports Web Elements - database write back question

    Hi,
I have a question about Web Elements. In description of them on SAP site it says they can provide "write-backs to the database". This is something I would really like to see. I have a scenario:
User sees a long report and sometimes she needs to add a quick note that should be saved into the database. That note can be entered into WETextArea I suppose and WESubmit button click can be an event  trigger for such a write back.
I would like to see example of such functionality on Crystal Report rpt file.
Please advise if anybody knows, I would highly appreciate your assistance.
    Regards, Grettir

    hello,
webelements can be used for the interface to database writebacks...they don't do the writebacks themselves but create the interface to make it easier for an end user to add annotations etc...these values are then passed to a second report or a subreport. using the default prompting interface makes this quite difficult.
here's where the database writebacks are done...since version 9 of crystal reports there have been command objects. command objects have the ability to use any database syntax that is compliant with the database connection. i.e. if the syntax can go through the odbc layer then you can do this in a command in crystal reports.
commands will honour database securities so you don't have to worry about someone dropping a table if rights have been properly assigned. a word of caution there to ensure that database rights have been done properly as you don't want all end users to have the ability to write a report that can do database updates.
commands are also database specific so you would have to check your database online help to see what syntax would be appropriate.
the workflow would be to have 2 reports, one that had the webelements user interface and one that did the writeback. this user interface report would have the text object and submit button and using open document syntax, the values would be passed to the 2nd report that had the command object. the command object would have a prompt that would take the values from the open document url and then use the values in the write back.
    for example,
    1) the user interface report has one text object called "t1" and one submit button.
    2) the target command object report has a prompt called "t1".
    3) the target report command object has syntax like
    INSERT INTO yourtestable
    VALUES    ('{?t1}')
    SELECT     1
    4) yourtesttable in this case has only one text field
    5) the "SELECT 1" at the end of the command ensures that a dummy value is returned after running the update...to avoid a database error
    6) this syntax would be for sql server
this is of course a very simplified example.
if you are at tech ed phoenix, please drop by the business objects test drive area & i will be there. i can show you a bunch of different webelements examples and write back reports etc. until you become quite bored
    i hope that this helps,
    jamie

  • Crystal Report XI: Can you write your query in SQL instead of using the GUI

    Hello
In crystal report version XI, can you write your query in sqlplus and then use the crystal report designer to build your report instead of using the GUI . I would like to be able to go database and show sql query and open that query and make changes directly there, is that possible on this version, if yes is there a setting somewhere? Please let me know.
    Thank you

    Moved to Database forum.
No you can no longer modify the SQL directly. Use a Command Object to enter the SQL directly.
    Thank you
