WANTED FUTURES FOR Fireworks CS5

Hello iv been using FW for over 8 years. You can discover my works at 3AKIS.COM (all works made in FW). And i really love it for it's great user interface and ability to create quick and nice work. In general i take 45mins-2 hours to create wonderful design. Comparing with Photoshop where similar type of work takes me 2x longer. BUT. Since my creativity grows faster than Adobe`s developing team  since FW bought from macromedia it gots too slow.  Here is the list of futures i think most of us Fireworkers would like to have.
1. Improved transform tools. Warp, Mesh tool is essential for great work. More steps for rotation. It is really difficult to align objects in the pictures (rotation step is too wide).
2. Ability to import PS brushes.
3. Adjustment Layers
4. Improved quality for custom Stroke. Pressure sensitivity
5. 3D rotate
6. Filters -> Ability to save settings. For example Level changes (there is no save, reset button).
7. More accurate pen STEP tool. Now it jumps for 1pixel.
8. More accurate strokes. For example if i draw box with a stroke. Make it outside object (somewhy only then it looks clear). But if you select points with the mouse and move them using arrow keys its ok. But if u’ll do that on the screen, it gets blur.
9. Fully working PS Blending modes. Right now Gradient tool doesn’t have color selection.
10. Color change tool, could have alpha.
11. Library, benefits: Generator of lightings or some other fashioned stuff in nova days could be very nice.
Now the futures of CS4 which i didn’t find an use.
1. Double BOLD, ITALIC selections <- that’s the main problem when i open 1-2year files made in previous versions.
2. Double Feather selections in marquee tool properties, and over menu Selection
3. Installation file is huge. If I am not wrong FW4 was only 80mb.
Next thing i never met any other fireworker. Everyone is working with PS. So integrity between those two programs is essential.

Thank you guys, Yes i have submitted wanted futures to Fireworks team, i hope they won’t ignore  it due to my broken English.
Also i remember my old conversation with other fellow designer about all Adobe programs packs in general. He works only with PS.
Why not to create single shortcut pack for all Adobe programs?
For example. FW ctr+v (paste) works as PASTE IN PLACE. In illustrator i get that function over pressing Ctr+F. In adobe Flash Ctrl+shift+v.
Why not to make it optimally same and simple shortcut pack? Same thing is for controlling things like gradient (in AE it's even called RAMP:) something differently, sorry if I’m wrong I’m not English)..
Layer Creation (FW-ctrl+c->v, PS cntrl+j, AI-cntrl+v, AE cntrl-d). Im not speaking about same things like gradient creation and etc.. the thing like is the same, but in all programs it works like some new discovery.
That’s a business an issue for some other companies like Corel which could create one single program, which could play with vectors and bitmaps very well in one peace, and believe me. Everyone will go for it, once its launched! And if the price will be half of adobe suite..
The situation reminds me times like in mobile industry, we had lots of grand manufacturers like Sony, Nokia. Who had all technology, but were selling it buy small parts-profits just running behind profit. But once Apple launched its iphone, everyone get almost to bankrupt level. I promise, if the Adobe wont change their strategy, they will get to the same point like this companies. None of their program is genius. Yes you can work with PS, FW or any other, yes it can do a lot. But in general, though runs much faster than their technology development. It always contains bugs, and some futures wanted.
The other way try to touch music programs. If you have been playing with some music software like Frooty loops (FL9 studio) and Reason from Propelerhead. In there is an option called Slave. When u do open FL9. Inside it you can slave REASON (made by other manufacturer) and play its interface an instruments...

Open letter to adobe: What future for Fireworks?
Hello, My name is Fred and I'm a Fireworks user since ever.
I prefer to warn you about my complete addiction to this software.
There's many discussions on this forum and others, on how you deal with Fireworks "improvements". Some say that you are in the process of discontinuing this program, others of a possible resale ... I even read some arguments about switching to Creative Commons license.
All this is the literal translation of a sincere concern!
Can you give us some answers on the future of Fireworks?
I think our community is quite alive and active, so I hope that you'll respond in a clear, fast answer.
    Thank you in advance.
If I made huge mistakes of spelling and grammar, I apologize.
    English is not my language.

From the looks of it, the writing is already on the wall.  I own a Creative Cloud subscription and one of the main benefits touted for the Creative Cloud is regular updates and bug fixes.  And every other app like Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Bridge, Lightroom, the Edge Tools, etc.  have seen multiple nice updates as part of the Creative Cloud subscription which has made me a big fan of Creative Cloud.
    All except for Fireworks.
Not a single update or bug fix has occured for Fireworks in Creative Cloud.  Even for the simplest of things.  I have reported typos in Fireworks that still have not been fixed.  In fact, I think the only app in Creative Cloud that has not been updated is Fireworks.
So like I said, it seems the writing is on the wall.  It's a shame too because even with its lack of care, it works phenomenally well for designing user interfaces.  But now others are starting to catch up and people seem to be switching to alternatives because Fireworks appears to be a dead end.
Without Fireworks, Adobe doesn't have a single UI design app in their portfolio and in particular it seems lots of UI designers are jumping ship now from Adobe to Bohemian Coding and their Sketch app. I'm dumbfounded that Adobe has allowed this to happen.
From what I understand, the Sketch app is created by just two people which makes the inability to keep Fireworks updated all the more baffling.

  • Where can I find the installation software for Fireworks CS5?

I am looking for the installation for Fireworks CS5.  I have the serial number but not the disk.

Read the instructions very carefully - all the steps must be performed in the correct order; if not, the redirect to Adobe's download page will fail.

When you have downloaded and extracted the file right click and then click "run as Adminstrator".
It should work for you. I had the same issue and did this and everything worked,

  • Is there a Eye Candy 4000 plug in for Fireworks CS5?

Thank you for any help the community can send me.

  • Where can I download an extension for Fireworks CS5 called CSS3 Mobile Pack?

The links I have tried take me to the page with Fireworks CS6 page info.   I wish Adobe would give more support to past versions of its applications.

The features in CSS3 Mobile Pack have been incorporated into Fireworks CS6. Please tell me your email so that I can send it to you.

  • Visibone Swatches, Photoshop, Fireworks CS5.5

    Visibone swatches are great.
Except in Photoshop CS5.5, the swatch set can't be made narrow enough to show it with colors properly oriented.
And it's apparently not availble for Fireworks CS5 at all.
I'd be grateful for any links to importable swatch sets that give me access at least to visibone1 swatch set in a format that aligns correctly in small swatch thumbnails for these programs. Please tell me that Adobe did not just limit us to making swatch sets that are a minimum of 17 swatches wide when 16 used to be the standard... Really?

    Noel,
    Thank you for your reply.
Yes, apparently I missed also the fact that MTSTUNER answered both times, as well, and the answers were both practical. You could also just collapse both drawers or even create a third drawer and pop-up all the required tool pallets instead.
The tool layout is so fluid, it's really hard to guess what will be most useful for one user or another. Different pallets have different minimum widths, and the pallet with the widest minimum width in any specific drawer defines the width of all other pallets in that drawer.
The only way to get the tool pallete to be the correct width for the open drawer is to have it be the only one in the pallet or use
MTSTUNER's suggestion of popping it up temporarily as needed. Either way, it's basically like having it undocked. When it is open and docked in a full drawer, you end up having to create a new swatch pallete for whichever is the widest tool pallete in the drawer, if you can spare the time, or it is worth it to you.
So there are workarounds in Photoshop, and I am grateful for the suggestions, but I wonder why Adobe didn't use the method from FireWorks, where the pallets grow or shrink with whatever the width of the drawer is, at a set swatch pallete width of 21 swatches wide. It probably has something to do with legacy code in photoshop.
    Again, thanks!

  • Hanging indent, Adobe Fireworks CS5

Any idear how to do a "hanging indent" in Fireworks CS5 for a multi-line custom bulleted list.
Or if there is the "indent here" option in paragraph text for Fireworks CS5?
I can't believe it doesn't have such a simple type controls like this, but it's legacy code - so maybe brute force is the only way.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Cheers,
    Jamie

Thanks for the quick reply Jim -
A single negative indent value doesn't quite give me enough control. At least not what I'm used to compared to the other Adobe apps. Uusually you spec a first line indent value and an indent value for the remaining lines in the paragraph. (ie 8, -8 pts, respectively)
OR an Indent-here command. (I know there's no such thing in HTML, but that's not my concern in designing protypes/mockups - and CSS does handle that quite plainly these days.)
I know the FireWorks isn't ideal application for typesetting, but considering it's been rev'd up several times since the MacroMedia acquisition, you'd think someone would have solved this basic integration issue by now. I doubt it's fixed in CS5.5 either...UGH.
Brute force typesetting here I come.

I am using Fireworks CS5 in Windows 7 to sketch a large site, and it was taking an extremely long time to do anything and seemed to crash on me once or twice every hour. I saved every couple of minutes and could at least rely on my last save being able to be reloaded. However, a few days ago, I lost a lot of work when Fireworks crashed halfway through the save and destroyed the file. At the time, my most recent backup copy that I had on another drive was a day old, so that crash was not only frustrating but hazardous to my project deadlines (needless to say, I've since implemented a more aggressive backup policy). Anyway, I searched for answers and forums about the problem, and I'm disappointed that it seems that it's a common problem for a lot of folks that has been around for a very long time throughout multiple releases of the software. Memory and resources also seem to be a common factor in contributing to the crashes and are also a theme in the few solution responses that I was able to find. I hope that Adobe will respond with a once-and-for-all fix / a much more efficient and stable way for Fireworks to do its magic. I typically have had very positive things to say about Adobe software and was even the one who recommended the suite for my work, but especially as "well seasoned" and *expensive* as the software is, there is no excuse for any major, well-tested component of it by now to be crashing so consistenly and causing so many problems for so many people.
The solution to the crashing that seems to work for me so far - and I hope that it works for you as well: I doubled the size of my swap/paging file to ~4GB and set the maximum to double that (~8GB). Since I did that, Fireworks has only crashed once (only once.. as if that is even acceptable considering the short time since then). It still runs fairly slowly (granted, I'm working on a large project, so I can tolerate that more), but at least I can use it again.
    Hope that helps! Best,
    -j

  • Using thickbox-gallery extension in DWCS6 for webpages sliced in fireworks CS5

After designing my webpages in Fireworks CS5, I have exported them into Dream weaver CS6 but I can't seem to place the "thickbox" extension for my gallery in an aligned manner. in order words it has refused to position itself horizontally from left to right of my page.
Please can anyone help me in this regards.
Thank you so much in anticipation.

Thank you @Ken for your info, Thank you Nancy for your info too, please how do I install the fancybox add on which you suggested into Dreamweaver?
Meanwhile I'm happy to inform you that I figured out a way to solve the problem I reported here. The process is as follows:-
When you add the "thickbox" gallery and you want to make it align horizontally from the left to the right. First off, select the "gallery" (usually the 2 default thumb nails/galleries) you added,  simply go to your "CSS Styles" panel and under "Current" tab. Add the "Display" property and then on the right, change its attribute from anything it is to "inline". At the instance, the "thickbox" gallery changes alignment in a landscape manner and positions itself from left to right. You could also try out other possible "attributes" of "Display" to see the one that could also give you what you want or same result. Once you're happy, you could go ahead to swap your thumbnail images and populating your galleries.
It took quite some time to discover this.
Thank you once again everyone for the effort.

  • Problem starting Fireworks CS5.1 MAC ? Look here for the solution ...

After installing / uninstalling / installing, calling Adobe, deleting preferences ... in short, a great deal of wasting time (that I do not want you to do) ... the problem is somewhere else.
I've read the solution on a post (but too much posts read and I do not remember which one) :
    Delete FlashFirebug for Firefox !!!!
That's it, and everything's now back to normal.
    Hope it will help...

    Thanks for sharing!
This Adobe Help page suggests uninstalling the Flashbug/FlashFirebug plug-in for Firefox if there's a problem with blank panels within Fireworks, particularly on the Windows OS. It's good to know that the same advice can help Mac users, too.
