Wanted "hands free" voice memo recording.

I am an inspector.  I want to use my new Motorola Razr Maxx to make "voice memos"… recordings, while I am inspecting.  I have a Plantronics Voyager PRO HD Bluetooth headset that I can access my voice commands.  Love it.
I am disappointed that my phone does not have a "memo recorder" as a part of the ‘voice commands’ I access through my headset.
I have not found an app to let me do what I need to do.
I want to use my headset to access the recorder… then use the headset to start and stop the recording … all from my headset while leaving my phone in the safety of its pouch.
Does anybody know of an app or widget to get me where I want to go?

Hi
I got the exact same experience. But I have the guitar tuner app "ClearTune". I don't know if the app is locking the internal mic from the voice recorder?. What a pain

  • Hands Free Voice Memo

Is there any way to activate the Voice Memo on the new Iphone hands free?

Spoke with two reps from the new Apple Expert service. After some good advice to do my restore again as a new iPhone, I still had the same problem. Got a callback from a second rep who believed it to be a hardware issue. She set me up with a Genius appt, which was cool to not have to make another call or visit to a web page, and recommended that they replace the phone. The genius was helpful and agreed that we had done so many restores that it certainly appeared to be hardware. After getting the new phone home and getting it set up, I still have the same problem of "No", "Wrong" etc no longer working. Bummer.
I'm beginning to suspect that when this problem developed was when I upgraded to 3.01. I sent feedback to apple and am really hoping that either the next update does it or that someone might have some advice on diagnosing the software issue.

  • I have a Voice Memo recording in my iPod Classic which I want to transfer to the iTunes Library.  How can I do this?

I have a Voice Memo recording in my iPod Classic which I want to transfer to the iTunes Library.  How can I do this?

    From here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2396
Transferring a recording to a computer
    Manually
Voice memos are saved in a Recordings folder on iPod in the WAV file format. If you enable iPod for disk use, you can drag voice memos from the folder to copy them.
    Synchronize
If iPod is set to update songs automatically and you record voice memos, the voice memos are automatically downloaded to a playlist in iTunes when you connect iPod. Once downloaded, the voice memos are removed from the Voice Memos folder on your iPod. To play the voice memos that have been synchronized to your computer in iTunes, select the Voice Memos playlist on the left side of the iTunes window. To play the synchronized voice memos on the iPod, select the Voice Memos playlist in the Music menu, not the Voice Memos menu in the Extras menu.

  • Voice memos recorded since iOS7 missing when syncing

    Hi All,
I regularly use voice memos to record lectures on my iPhone 4 and then transfer to computer for editing.
However, since I installed iOS7, all voice memos recorded since then show up on the phone itself, but not in iTunes (or the DeTune App) when I try to sync to my computer.  It seems they're unrecognizable by iTunes.
I've tried rebooting the phone, the computer, etc, but after weeks of looking for a solution haven't found one.
    Can anyone help please?

I have this same problem, voice memo from Jan 19th was synced ok,
but I did something different today, so they possibly caused it:
The recording is over an hour long, I usually record only about 5 minutes
I renamed the title with Edit function
I managed to get all my voice memos off my iPod touch using iFunBox which is a free app.
    Download it here: http://www.i-funbox.com/ifunboxmac/
There's also a windows version on the site.

  • I want to move voice memos from iPhone to PC (not just sync to itunes)

    Hi,
I want to move voice memos from my iPhone to Windows desktop. I saw several posts about syncing them to iTunes. Thats not what i want. I want to copy them to my desktop not just sync to iTunes. Unable to copy - paste from iTunes either.

impossible to do anything simple on iTunes, I managed to wipe all my recorded voice memos when I tried to move my files from iphone to desktop, instead they just "sync" I never got the point with sync, why can't you just export files and import files from desktop, simple as that why make it so complicated

  • True Hands Free Voice Dialing Yet?

Can't anyone recommend a good to great hands free voice dialing app for iphone4 so that I don't get another cell phone $130 ticket and 2 points on my license?
I don't mind pressing an app button to start the process but after that I just want to say something like: "Call John Doe" and have the app find the contact, if more than one phone #, ask me: "Home or Mobile" for example, then I say "Home" and it dials it.  All hands free other then starting the app.
Isn't there an app for that yet?

    Actually Jennifer, I have OnStar!
But sadly my Subaru has the analog version so when the FCC mandated that such services convert to digital, I unfortunately had an OnStar system that couldn't upgrade to digital. Only the analog/digital ones could. So I have all the buttons, but no service anymore
And i LOVED my OnStar and the hands free dialing. Subaru doesn't offer OnStar anymore. I think only GM cars have it, but I could be wrong on that.
On a side note.. my Subaru is a 2004. So when I bought it, after I lost service I realized that both OnStar and Subaru had to know when I bought my car that shortly my OnStar service would be defunct. But no one told me that on the showroom floor. Had they, I would have not bought the Subaru as I really wanted an OnStar car. So I took both Subaru and OnStar to task and claimed they defrauded me by not telling me that my OnStar system had a lifespan of about 2 -3 years when I purchased the car.
I bitched, moaned, wrote letters, threatened, complained, relentlessly. Finally I gotta check for $500. Better than nothing...
    I miss my OnStar though.
Now back to our topic: I found a great app today since starting this thread: Melodis Dialer. Pretty cool and FREE! It's not 100% hands free. You have to press the app to launch it and press a button and say: "John Doe Home" or "John Doe Work" and the little bugger dials. Some of these after market dialers ask you a ton of questions before dialing. Not this little guy. So... if you live in a hands free state, you'll have to keep your iPhone in your lap and press a two buttons, but at least you can keep your other hand on the wheel and your eyes 99% on the road...
Map Quest GPS is free too and talks the directions. Found that today too. Again off topic. Sorry.
    Check em out...

  • Jelly Bean update completely killed true hands free voice dialing.

Regardless of the fact that S-Voice (as well as Google Voice dialing/search) is unable to recognize most of my contacts, it's also a fact that by definition, it cannot work as a true hands free voice dialer, which is defined as the ability to make a call without touching (or even seeing) the phone AT ALL.  This is due to the simple fact that neither S-Voice nor Google Voice dial/search allows you to say "yes" or "no" to a phone number confirmation prompt.  In other words, you need to see the screen at some point in order select the correct number to dial.  Prior to the Jelly Bean update, this issue was relatively easily solved by using a third party app -- I preferred an app called "Cyberon Voice Commander" -- to take over the voice dialing duties.  The first time you hit the Bluetooth button after installing the app, you could select the default program to respond to the BT button.  I simply selected the Cyberon Voice Commander app, and everything worked from this point forward -- I could dial a number without ever taking the phone out of it's case.
With the Jelly Bean update, however, this is suddenly no longer possible because S-Voice completely takes over the Bluetooth button, and does not allow another app to take over as the default.  The "launch by default" section for S-Voice in the application manager is now greyed out, and says "no defaults set" for S-Voice even though S-Voice is set as the default program to launch when pressing the BT button.  The only "potential" solution is to completey "disable" S-Voice via the application manager, which does allow you to select Cyberon Voice Commander as the default BT button press app, but there are two problems with this.  First, the default resets when turning the phone on even though you select "always" for the CVC app.  This means that you have to re-select the third party app as the default BT button app EVERY time the phone is turned off.  Second, disabling S-Voice is not a solution because I still would like to use it for things OTHER than voice dialing.  Disabling it completely removes it from the menu, making it unusable even for things that it is better at.
I cannot believe how hard S-Voice is being shoved down our throats.  Why would they make it mandatory?  The whole point of Android is that it's supposed to be "open" and allow users to individually decide on their own way of doing things -- i.e. to offer multiple approaches that suit your preferences rather than adopting a narrow minded "we decide what's best" attitude.  This is the whole reason that I moved away from Apple.  This S-Voice situation, however, is just ridiculous.  It's fine to push it as an "option," but please keep it OPTIONAL -- particularly given that it literally CAN'T do what other apps do (i.e. true hands free dialing.)

A few things you can try ... turn off the phone, remove the SIM card, wait a few minutes, then reinsert the SIM card and re-boot the phone.  Maybe a fresh connection to the network will improve the signal/call quality.
Do a system cache clear; it won't delete your data:
    Power down phone
Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously until you see the Boot Mode Selection Menu
Use volume down to navigate to 'Recovery', use volume up to select
You should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android
Press volume up/down simultaneously to go into system recovery
Use volume rocker to navigate to 'wipe cache' and use power button to select
Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to 'reboot system now' and use power button to select
If all else fails, back everything up, remove the SD card to be on the safe side, and factory reset the phone.  No, it's not a preferred option, but sometimes that is what it takes to 'clear out the cobwebs' after an operating system update.

  • Ref Hands Free Voice Dialing

Why does the IPhone not offer hands free voice dialing? If and when will this feature be available? Most important for save driving! Reason I returned mine the day after I purchased. Assumed such a sophisticated phone would have handsfree voice dial. Cost me 50 bucks which I see as a ripoff!

Thank you so much for your response! I was so disappointed about the phone! Due to several disabilities this phone is answered prayer for me. It was the hardest thing for me to return it. I was worried that Apple would make a better phone which I could not afford if I kept this one. So, do you think it would be safe for me to go back and rebuy the IPhone and then just wait for the updates? I assume the updates can be downloaded to the existing phones that people have already purchased. So not to look not so bright, your response is, updates are around the corner for the owners of the present IPhone. Please let me know. Thanks again for your positive response. I sure hope Tim feels much better now! And a big thanks to Tim for making me aware of the importance of the preview button!

  • Hands free voice activation

Can anyone tell me if there is any compatible hands free voice activation software from a bluetooth for an iPhone 3G?

    Yacci,
The iPhone itself does not have this feature, but AT&T provides a service for it: http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/basics/choosing-features-services/voicedial.js p
This is something you can provide feedback to Apple for, as a feature request: http://www.apple.com/feedback
    Hope this helps,

  • Hands free voice calling?

Is there a hands free voice activation accessory so I can comply with the July California Hands Free Law?
Does it allow me to say Call Work" and dial my work number?

I came here to ask this exact question. It's bound to be the #1 question for the iPhone in CA around the time the law goes into effect. If Apple or someone else has not already thought of it they would have really dropped the ball. After all, Apple is headquartered in CA too!
BTW I use a small Motorola bluetooth hands free device that works great. I just need the voice dialing capability.

  • How do I get a voice memo recording onto my laptop

I have recorded a discussion on my phone in the voice memo section, and want to transfer the recording onto my laptop.  When I have used a digital recorder in the past, and plugged into my computer it has automatically recognised it, and I have saved on laptop and transferred to wherever.  I can't seem to do the same with the iphone, can anyone help.
    Thanks

If you don't have a share icon I'd contact the police or a lawyer to see what they suggest. Or as Spudge suggests take your iPad to the police. Can I ask what voice memo  app you're using on an iPad ?

  • Voice memo recording

Hi, can anyone help me to understand why yesterday I was able to record direct into my brand new iphone 4 by simply pressing the big red button in voice memo and today it's telling me I need to insert a microphone? No issues with making calls, just the voice mail app gone potty..
I have the i-Rig app (free version) and roughly 10 minutes of other voice mail data stored. It's annoying the **** out of me!!

  • Recovering lost section of voice memo recording

    Hi all,
Last night I was taking a recording using Voice Memos. I fell asleep during the recording, and when I woke, my phone's battery had died. Normally when this happens, the app will cut off the recording at the moment the phone dies, saving everything up to that point, but this time it only saved the first hour of the recording. Yet when I plugged it into iTunes, the file said it was "last modified at 8:51am," meaning the recording should have been saved up to that point. So, I have a feeling the rest of the recording could still exist somewhere in the phone, perhaps in a trash bin of some sort.
I've looked in other threads and downloaded iFunBox to look through the files, but neither have worked. Anyone have any ideas?

    You don't.

  • I WANT HANDS FREE USE!

Sorry, but I am SO aggravated. Just bought this phone. Should have kept my Droid Razr. How in the world do you use a bluetooth device with this phone? Just talked to Samsung. They said my phone was too smart for my Jawbone ERA. They said the ICS was too smart for the ERA bluetooth. Funny; I had ICS on my Motorola Razr!  Now, I am going to go to Verizon and might just try to get my Razr back.
If anyone knows what, if anything, I might be doing wrong; please let me know. I like the look and feel and cool features of the GalaxyS3, but if I can't use my phone completely hands free, I don't want it !

Here's the instruction on how to factory reset your ERA from Jawbones website.  The Soft reset will not clear the first device.  I used to own an Era and speak from experience.
To restore your headset to the original factory settings, follow the instructions below. This may help fix performance issues that a Soft Reset is unable to fix.
    Turn OFF your headset.
Turn OFF or disable Bluetooth on all paired devices.
    Turn ON your headset.
Wait for LED to blink white.
Press the TALK button 6 times in quick succession.
The LED will turn solid red for approximately 6 seconds.
While the LED is solid red, press and hold the TALK button until the LED blinks red and white.
