Wanted: K9N Diamond mobo

Anyone have a fully functional K9N Diamond mobo they want to get rid of (I'll pay for it!)?   Mine went belly up, and it is long since out of warranty.  Would like to replace it with same board.  I have manual and all drivers discs; just need the mobo.
Thank you.

  • MSI K9N DIAMOND CA0106 chipset AUDIGY or SOUNDBLASTER LIVE 24

I have 2 PC's one with an MSI K8N SLI PLATINUM mobo with onboard SOUNDBLASTER 24bit li've (CA006)
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=69&maincat_no=&cat 2_no=&cat3_no=
This system has run fine for over 2-/2 years now with no troubles it was connected to my PIONEER VSX 86 via SPDIF/toslink? and has excellent sound and performed all that I wanted including DTS DVD's and all my music video clips, DIVX movies etc etc
The trouble is, I have just setup my new system
MSI K9N DIAMOND also with the onboard Creative sound (CA006) and comes supplied with the Creative Audigy disc
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=028&maincat_no=&ca t2_no=7
When I try to install the drivers/setup disc it tells me that there is no Audigy onboard/installed? I have managed to install the drivers/disc from the previous soundblaster li've 24bit, It does work with the Audigy goldmine demo and has all channels of sound as it should but in the Surround mixer speaker settings it will only sound out 2 speakers even when it shows all 5. as it is currently configured
I have tried to download many other drivers with no luck
My main concern is the creative programs from my old system are not what I want, I paid for an AUDIGY setup not LIVE
Is it possible to get the AUDIGY onboard running as it should (showing AUDIGY in hardware manager, not LIVE 24bit)
I would like to be able to run the newer software from the AUDIGY disc but it is not compatible when the LIVE drivers are installed
I have had one set of drivers display AUDIGY in the hardware manager but when I tried to use the speaker settings etc it fails and says soundcard not found even though it clearly shows AUDIGY drivers are installed
I have been very happy with the creative sound so far on my first MSI system but I'm not very impressed with this setup and I'm still not sure who's fault it is MSI or CREATIVE?
Can someone give me some details as to what is going on here, I would like to know if it is also possible to use some kind of new software/programs for the soundblaster LIVE that has maybe more settings/functions or just a later better style as I may have to use the same on my new system
The menu's etc in my new manual (K9N DIAMOND) look almost identical to those included with the K8N SLI, The disc included with the K9N DIAMOND has an AUDIGY quick start program/demo which gives you a preview/guide on how to use the supposed AUDIGY which has all new menu's, layout and features which im unable to use?
As mentioned I have used the soundblaster 24bit LIVE for well over 2 years now connected to my PIONEER VSX86 via a digital cable so all the previous settings etc have been compared and doublechecked but im unable to find answers, If I am unable to find help or any way to install the AUDIGY as im meant to have I may resort to fitting another soundcard and I may got to another brand unfortunately
    Any help appreciated

If I am right the onboard Audigy on the MSI K9N Diamond utilizes the CA006 chip instead of the EMU0k2, therefore it is not a real/genuine Audigy soundcard. In fact it's the same as your former soundblaster li've 24bit which also utilizes the same CA006 chipset. That's why you can use the driver from the SB li've 24bit for your new "Audigy" onboard sound. Also there are other soundcards that are not genuine Audigy soundcards: Audigy Se, Audigy LS and, yes, also the X-fi Xtreme Audio, all utilizing the same chip, CA006. Creative Labs use some marketing techniques, add some different (newer) software/apps for the soundcard and give the soundcard (with the same chipset) a different name. In my opinion, if you for example buy a X-fi Xtreme Audio you in fact for the most part paid for the included newer softwares (which for example add "X-fi features like Crystalizer etc.).
If you really want a better soundcard, maybe go for the X-fi XtremeMusic or XtremeGamer which utilizes the genuine EMU20K chip (with hardware acceleration). The soundquality is significantly higher than the soundcards with the CA006 chip.
As for the drivers for the soundcard:
Official Creative Labs driver for Sound Blaster? Audigy? Value/SE/LS, or Sound Blaster Li've!? 24-bit audio devices
    Good luck!

  • K9N Diamond - multiple problems

    First, here is my setup:
    K9N Diamond
    AMI bios v1.2
    AMD 64x2 5200+
2 gig Corsair ValueSelect (no timing info available)
    XFX Fatality 7600GT 256mb video
    Okia Okia-450ATX ps +3.3v@28A +5v@50A +12v@18A (+3.3/+5v 230W)
Primary HD: Maxtor 80 gig IDE. Secondary: Maxtor 200 gig SATA
    Pioneer 16x DVD burner
    WinXP Home SP2 + updates
All mobo drivers are from the cd. The video card drive is the latest forceware driver.
Ok. I am having multiple problems. First, I have tried 3 pci dialup modems (2 Broadxent 56.6 and 1 generic SmartLink 56.6) and only the SmartLink  shows up. The 2 Broadxent (Creative Modem Blaster) modems don't even appear to the system , yet they both work in other computers. The SmartLink modem appears and will connect sometimes, and then not reliably. I have tried all 3 in both pci slot. None work in the orange slot. Any ideas?
Second, I am getting random reboots. This happens less often if I disable the onboard audio, but it still happens. If I have the audio enabled and use a USB modem I have, then it will enevitably auto-reboot I have even gone so far as to remove the side of my case and point a small high velocity fan into the case to lower the temp of the internal components in case the CPU temp was an issue. The CPU temp is around 34 C this way. Still random reboots. I have had previous bad expreience with SB audigy SE addon cards, but this still happens with the audio disabled.
And last, but not least, I am experiencing protracted bootup times. I was previously running a ABIT AV8/ AMD 64 3000+ combo with a ATI X700 and 2 gig of Kingston valueram with the same ps, hd's and dvd drive and my bootup times have almost doubled with my new mobo cpu combo.
I am getting a new Thermaltake 600w ps and 2 Antec tornado case fans tomorrow, but I don't see how that can really help with these problems as I am not really drawing that much power yet and the CPU is running fairly cool with the big fan at the moment.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It looks as I might possibly have a bad board on my hands. :(
Oh yeah, I also cannot get Dual Core Center to run at all. I DO have .NET framework 2.0 on my system and have had for a long time. Every time I try and start the program I get an error popup saying "The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000005). Click OK to terminate the application." . I downloaded the latest version from MSI. Version 2.0.2 I think.

Try that new PSU first, 18A on the 12V rail is barely enough and that might be a peak rating...
Defiantly agree there, 18A on 12V rail is not enough and most likely the cause of the reboots. You would want at least 24A on the 12V. Also if you go to buy a new one, avoid those multi-rail PSU's as they are not as good as the single rails as the current on each rail is not overly high.

  • Is my K9N Diamond defective?

I have had quite a few problems so this is gonna be a long one.
    Hi everyone.
Recently (1½ weeks ago), i bought all the parts i needed for a new computer. Heres the list:
    MSI K9N-Diamond
    AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ EE (Energy Efficient 65Watt) + Zalman CNPS9500-AM2 CPU cooler
    Corsair XMS2 (2x 1024MB, DDR2-800, 5-5-5-12-T1)
    Thermaltake 680Watt
     - +3.3v = 28A
     - +5v = 30A
     - +121 = 14A
     - +122 = 23A
     - +123 = 15A
    XFX GeForce 7900GT, 256MB PCI-E
2x WD Caviar Raid Edition 320GB SATAII, with NCQ
    And a floppy drive
Problems started from day one. First time boot, i enter BIOS. Change various stuff (like disabling Seriel/Paralell ports, disabling IEEE1394, setting boot order, enabling RAID controller and enabling all devices). I then enter RAID controller setup (F10), put my 2 WD drives in a raid0 array for maximum performance.
Pop in my WinXP cd, boot, press F6, loading BOTH the required drivers from the floppy i made using MSI cd in my old computer. I see one big drive with roughly 600GB. I make one partition on 16GB for Windows. Choose quick NTFS format, and setup starts copying files.
Then the trouble started, after copying alot of files, i suddenly got a message that setup was unable to copy the file: ABC.XYZ
I just thought: Argh, my cd is probally dusty, Open cdrom, look at cd. No scratches, no dust, no fingerprints... I clean the Phantom dust off the CD at put it in again, but it still cant copy. I restart the computer, starting over from beginning, remove partition and make a new one.
But same results, the setup copies some files but the stops with an "unable to copy" error, only this time its another file.
I tried serveral times, everytim a new file at a new random location in the copy process.
As i have no spare Windows CD, i went to my old computer, downloaded a new WinCD, burned it and tried again... but same results.
I started looking around various forums and found that other ppl had problems with the raid controller, and disabling would fix their problems. I really want to run Raid0 so this is kinda a last resort for me, but i tried it anyways... Enter Raid setup and remove the strip, enter BIOS and disable RAID controller, reboot and retry installing windows.
To my surprise, Windows Setup could actually copy the files and install Windows with no problems whatsoever.
I looked on MSI website and found that a new BIOS was up with the following bugfix:
"Fixed system can not auto boot from Nvidia Stripe 465.77G when onchip raid is enable."
It sounded familar to my problem so I flashed the new BIOS, reset CMOS, booted and made the usual changes in BIOS, made a new strip array in Raid controller setup.
I proceed with installing Windows the same way as described above, but same "cannot copy file xyz.abc" error.
So i destroy the raid array, disable raid controller and install windows again on single disks.
    Next problem.
After windows is installed, I install all the drivers from MSI CD and the Creative Sound Blaster CD. I have a Denon 5.1 Surround Reciever hooked up to Coaxial S/PDIF on my computer. In Creative speaker setup, i choose "5.1 Speakers" and click test... but i get no sound. I see the "Digital Output Only" option and enable it and test again... this time i get sound, but ONLY from front left and front right speakers. Furthermore, i NEED the analog output aswell so "Digital Output Only" option should not be enabled in my case. I checked Creative homepage and found this: "On all Audigy series cards, S/PDIF cannot be disabled". That leaves me to think that S/PDIF should work regardless of that "Digital Output Only" setting. Furthermore, when i activate that option, not only does it disable the analog output but also the analog input (Microphone in this case, which i need).
The weird thing is that analog output works fine with surround sound (tried with some 5.1 headphones).
    Next problem
Now ive been running with singledisk setup (non raid) for a week. But i have an alarming amount of BSoD errors. Its not just one BSoD, but all kinds of different errors. It is noteable that most of these errors are disk or driver related. After I got alot of different, i started writing them down. Heres a few:
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    0x0A (0x0000FFDF, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xSomeAddress)
"Typically due to a bad driver, or faulty or incompatible hardware or software. Technically, this error condition means that a kernel-mode process or driver tried to access a memory location to which it did not have permission, or at a kernel Interrupt ReQuest Level (IRQL) that was too high. (A kernel-mode process can access only other processes that have an IRQL lower than, or equal to, its own)"
    KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
0x8E (0xC0000005, rest of parameters is junk)
"A kernel mode program generated an exception which the error handler didn’t catch. These are nearly always hardware compatibility issues (which sometimes means a driver issue or a need for a BIOS upgrade)."
The following 2 errors happened alot while i was copying data from my old computer through network WHILE playing a game to kill time.
    KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
    0x7A (0xjunk, 0xC0000185, 0xjunk, 0xjunk)
This error gave me the filename Win32k.sys with the address being the same as parameter 3 in the error code.
"A page of kernel data was not found in the pagefile and could not be read into memory. This might be due to incompatible disk or controller drivers, firmware, or hardware."
    KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR
    0x77 (0xC0000185, 0xC0000185, 0x00000000, 0x00Frandom)
"A page of kernel data requested from the pagefile could not be found or read into memory. This message also can indicate disk hardware failure, disk data corruption, or possible virus infection."
While downloading some lost data via BitTorrent and watching a movie (on the computer), I got this error a few times (30 or so minuttes apart):
    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    0xD1 (0x00000064, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xjunk)
A filename was supplied: NVTcp.sys (A quick search revealed this as being nVidia Firewall, so i unistalled nVidia NAM)
"The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. The most typical cause is a bad device driver (one that uses improper addresses). It can also be caused by caused by faulty or mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile."
Also got a few 0xF4 errors.
Most of these errors suggest RAM failure, so i started testing with Memtest86+ and let it run over night. 10 passes, 0 errors.
    Next problem
This one is a bit more serious to me. As you might have read above, i was downloading some lost data via BitTorrent. This is how i lost it.
I have an External Maxtor 300GB HDD with USB connection. I use this to store movies when i go to friends and such.
Yesterday i plugged it in for the first time using front panel USB, Windows popped up and told me new hardware installed and bla bla.
I browsed the HDD and i saw a "thumbs.db". I dont like those hidden windows files (and i have them disabled), so i fired up a search for Thumbs.db. When search was finished, i selected all and pressed delete. DING "Windows cannot delete Thumbs.db. File not found.". I browsed the file using explorer and tried deleting it, but same error.
    Start->Run->CMD
    g:\>chkdsk /f /r
    CHKDSK cannot scan RAW-Filesystem.
The file system is NTFS btw. So i safely removed and replugged the device, this time windows did not recognice the device. I tried different USB port (still front panel) and the drive got installed but was unaccessible, until i reformated it.
Could this be connected to above bluescreen and potential hardware errors that the HDD got wiped when i plugged it in or is this just bad coincidence?
    Please help!

Disable memory EPP mode and retest. ("SLI-Ready Memory" from BIOS, enabled by default)
your board support(feature only on nVidia nForce 590 SLI that's mean only for K9N Diamond) this newest feature provide enhance performance via Enhanced Performance Profiles stored in SPD Memory. if your system memory do not support this feature and option is "Auto" or "Enabled" issues are expected. Sli Ready Memory:
EPP: This is an open memory standard put forth by Corsair and nVIDIA which takes over where JEDEC's SPD leaves off. As the Enhanced Performance Profiles description implies, it adds performance profiles to the memory SPD in addition to the conservative compatibility settings already programmed in. EPP compliant memory is dubbed "SLI Ready" memory on nVidia platforms (great marketing on nVIDIA's part) and allows the system to dynamically tighten up memory timings and increase voltages for better performance with no fuss. Whether you're a novice or experienced computer user, the benefits of EPP are immediate. Corsair is the initial memory manufacturer out the door with this new technology but others are already following suit.

  • Problem with K9N DIAMOND at boot

    Hello,
I've a problem with my mainboard K9N Diamon.
    I've this configuration :
    K9N Diamond
    Athlon X2 6000+ with Zalman 9700NT
    2x1go DDR 2 PC2 6400 at 800Mhz Corsair DOMINATOR
    Thermaltake Thoughpower 700W
    Case Thermaltake Kandalf VA9000BWS
    GeForce 7600GT Msi
    2x 320go WD HDD
    Dvd burn LG H42L
So, When I plug the power cable, the pc turn on, but 3sec later it stop. I push the power button, nothink.
I change the alimentation, with a 350w enermax, 500w PFC, 500w thermaltake, nothink.
The D-Bracket tell me no infomation, at the shutdown after 3sec, the led are different at the last boot. Impossible to identify the problem.
I test a 4200+ with 2x512mo DDR2 PC2 6400 at 800mhz corsair XMS2 and NX 6200 msi, but no change. When I plug the power cable it start, and 2 3 sec later it stop.
I reset the bios, with this method :
    Code: [Select]
    1.Shut Down the PC.
2.Unplug the Power Supply from the AC outlet and unplug the cord from the back of the Power Supply.
3.If your Power Supply has an On/Off switch on the back of it turn it Off.
    4.Ground yourself and your PC.
    5.Remove all DDR2 DIMMs
6.Remove the following power connectors on your mainboard:
       *JPWR1 - ATX 24-pin Power Connector
       *JPW1 - ATX 12V Power Connector
       *JPWR2 - ATX 12V Power Connector
    7.Clear CMOS.
8.Reattached power connectors in Step 6 above.
9.Place a DDR2 DIMM in DIMM3 (the slot closest to the CPU).
10.Plug AC cord into Power Supply and AC outlet.
11.If your Power Supply has an On/Off switch on the back of it turn it back On.
    12.Boot the PC.
    But no result.
I test the CPU, graphic card and memory on other PC, It work fine.
So, I think the mainboard is broken, I see problem like mine, but it's different here.
I'm for MSI, I've all pc with this material, and all of my friend / custommer, but here I'm disappointed.
This is an problem with a production series default ?  I dunno.
So I I'am for MSI, and I think I'v bad luck in this moment !
Sorry for my english, i come from Corsica ^^

Thanks again for your answer and Help.
    I've trid to start with just : Athlon 6000+ / 512mo DDR2 .
The system start, 2sec later stop. for restart with power button its impossible. I change the power button with reset button, same problem.
I test with an screw driver, the system start when I plug power supply, and after 2 3second stop. I test to start with screw driver, I similar... but 10sec later, after short reset, hdd led, its start, for 2 3 sec ! LOL. To restart again, I did short reset, hdd, led, hdd, reset, power, reset, .......... and at one moment its star 2 3 sec !!! Dor restart I do it again. LOL.
It's very strange. When its want , it start ! U_u
So tomorrow, I contact my supplier to change the mainboard ^^ !
I think its the only solution !
Thank again for your help, If you have many idea, I take that again :p

  • P45 diamond mobo does not power up

    Hello,
I recently purchased a P45 diamond mobo from Newegg, and the mobo didn't work when I received it. The only thing it would do was display a red light at LED 1, which according to the book means it's on standby? I talked to Newegg and they said they would RMA it. Today I just received the replacement and the exact same issue exist. The probability of two boards having the exact same problem makes me suspicious.
I currently have the mobo sitting on the box it came with and the only thing connected are the two power cables; 8 pin and the 24 pin. When I turn it on, I only get a red light at LED 1. It doesnt matter what I have installed, I get the same red light. My real question is, what does this red light indicate other than standby? Am I doing something wrong? I have assembled computers since 1989, and I am out of ideas here.
I used the Cmos jumper- correctly. I also removed the power cable and pressed the Cmos button.
I have one last question. If no CPU is present, will the LED status indicators work or does the mobo need a functioning CPU to display LED light beyond the single red light that I am getting?
    Q9300 Core 2 Quad
    4GB DDR3 Patriot 1333mhz  PC3-10666

If any more information is needed just ask. Thank you.

Install the processor + heatsink, a video card and one stick of RAM, then clear CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from PSU.
Try to start the system by shorting the two pins for the power-on button (JFP1 pin header) with a screwdriver.  If nothing changes, please try another PSU.
I purchased a new PSU to try and isolate the problem during the last motherboard. I also tested the other components on another mobo and they worked. I did what you said also and shorted the power-on header and nothing happens. I dont know what the probability of receiving two boards with the same exact problem but it makes me wonder. Newegg is generally a good company, maybe it's just my bad luck.
I just built a system for a friend of mine and he uses the same board and loves it. Hopefully, I can RMA it from MSI and get better results.
    Thanks Jack for the help.

  • MSI K9N DIAMOND boot problems

    Hi.
I have given the main PC sig below to my son. And I now have / building
    MSI K9N DIAMOND AM2 nvidia nForce 590 SLI 8channel audio DDR2 ATX
    Corsair 1GB DDR2-6400 128Mx64 non-ECC 240 DIMM unbuffered 5-5-5-12
    AMD 2x 5600 cpu
I have kept the PSU, wifi card.
(will update when up and running.)
When I put his harddrive (SATA) into his new PC it saw it straight away and booted into xp,without having to reinstall . Great.
I put my drive into the new AM2 board and I get three beeps (I read that's the USBs)
Then it either just hangs on a black screen or if i enable raid it tries then the BSOD  code 0x0000007E which i believe is just a standard error message.
The D-bracket has 4 green lights...
does anyone know why I cant just boot up my drive like i could with my sons, is it because i'm switching to AM2 from 939?
When I enter the raid setup (F10) it can see the drive but next to where it says bootable drive  which is normally a yes or a no it has N/A and I cannot change it.
I belive it is a raid/ driver problem I'm thinking its the AM2 upgrade.
I did not get any floppy raid drivers with my mo/bo.
If I reinstalled Xp would I need to install raid drivers during setup? (F6)
    I have clears cmos
    Many thanks for any help.

    hello
I plugged my sons drive into my K9N Diamond and it is saying the same thing in the raid setup   (F10) .....When you have the option to set as the bootable drive
Quote "set as boot drive N/A"
It can see the drive OK, I can delete array and rebuild it
Is there something in the bios that I need to tick or untick/ enable for it to boot from the drive?
    any help would be great.
    thanks

  • MOVED: K9N Diamond Overclocking

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.

    Clear cmos.
Enter bios and load optimised defaults.
    Exit.
Re-enter bios and change user settings to your liking; ensure usb stuff is enabled.
    Save and exit.
    Shutdown and change keyboards.
    Report back.
I tried what you mentioned above several times and sometimes boot up would work without the PS2 keyboard, sometimes it would not. Clearing the CMOS never worked on this board. I pressed the clear CMOS button (with power cable disconnected) and it did nothing. I also upgraded to the 1.2 bios and that seemed to reduce the frequency of the "overclocking has failed" bootup failures, but it was still present. Also, with the 1.2 bios, I seemed to have more bootup hangs (raid, etc.) once I did get through the initial posting process.
    Power Supply Specs:
Antec Truepower 2.0 (480 Watt) - Haven't had an issue with thie PSU in my previous SLI setup.

    +12(2): 18A
    +3.3A: 30A
    -12: 1.0A
    +5: 2.0A
But at this point, it is a lost cause because the board is now toast (where is the PB and J!!!!). I left the PS2 keyboard connected, installed windows, installed some testing software, and did some performance checking, heard a "sizzling" sound from around the capacitors between the cpu socket and the rear board connetors, a quick burnt electrical smell, and the system powered off. Now the board won't power on. I checked the CPU, memory and cards and thankfully they are ok. So it appears the board is toast. I have already requested an RMA.
The first board I got was DOA, and now this board had issues from the first time I powered it on. It just seems like the K9N Diamond boards have some serious quality issues. I read the NewEgg reviews for this board and there are quite a few reviewers having DOA/posting type issues.

  • K9N-Diamond (MSI-7226) RAID5 disks disconnect sporadic

Hello together, this is a call from germany ... in hope to find briefly the right help in the world.
    I´d a Problem that the RAID 5 won´t work stable ...
Sporadic one of the 3 disks disconnect, when I copy large files ~4-8GB on the RAID, or when I try to generate one there.
It sounds like the former Problems with the Promise SX-6000 RAID Controller, but this failure will fixed after an BIOS update.
    Try to solve the problem:
After the first 10 installtions I´d add a 4th disk, as single drive for boot and the system files.
I´m working here with Windows XP SP2 Professional 32 + the 64 Bit Edition!
Under both systems the same effect.
    My system :
    - K9N Diamond (MSI-7226) Bios v1.3
    - VGA : 2x MSI NX7600GT-T2D256EZ.
    - CPU : AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+
    - RAM : 4x 1GB MDT (PC800)
    - Windows XP Professional (32 and 64Bit)
    - No overclocking
    - 600W Powersupply
    Board + BIOS ...... : A7226NMS v1.3 011607
AMD North bridge : Rev. F2
    PMU ROM Version : 5A01
    MediaShield (by press F10) : Jun 01 2006
    Drives:
    PM : SONY DVD RW AW-G170A (1.71)
    PS : SONY DVD ROM DDU1615 (GYS1)
    3rd Master : WDC WD3200YS-01PGB0 (21.00M21) ----> RAID5
    4th Master : WDC WD3200YS-01PGB0 (21.00M21) ----> RAID5
    5th Master : WDC WD3200YS-01PGB0 (21.00M21) ----> RAID5
    7th Master : MAXTOR 6V160E0 (VA111630) ----------> Single Drive
    RAID 5:
    Striping Block 64k
    Port 1.0 + 1.1 + 2.0 ... = Index 0 + 1 + 2
    Note Media-Shield (Windows Version):
It doesn´t work correct, mostly (98%) you must use the BIOS one by pressing F10, to rebuilt the RAID5.
    MSI-Support (germany):
They give me a ticket number and tell my to her from them near-term ...
That was on March the 23th 2007 ... question : What does "near-term" mean?
    Questions:
    - Does anyone have a working RAID5 running, with BIOS v1.3 (or v1.2)?
    - Is the raid controler firmware included in the mainboard Bios?
    - Why have my board the Bios version 1.3, but in the download section is only v1.2 listet?
    With easily enervated  greetings
    Gerald

    @ bosamar
Sorry for the late replay ... to less time.
Today I´ve downgrade the BIOS to the v1.2
There was one "mystic" Error ... the system didn´t boot, when all 4 RAM modules (Bank 1-4) installed.
After I´d disconnect the modules from bank 2 and 4 the system boot.
I do my settings in the BIOS and add the modules again ... and it works again.
(I´d testet the RAM modules with an tool ... they are error free).
... After that changing I´ve load the Bios default settings
May be there is a timing problem with the Chipset or RAM stettings ??

  • K9N Diamond / AMD Athlon 64x2 5200+ won't boot

    Hi,
I've just bouaght a new system and spent today putting it together. After everything seemed to be in place i plugged it all in and turned it on only to find it refuses to do anything boot-like. Black screen with spinning fans but no beeps etc...
    Specs -
    MSI K9N Diamond M-Board
    AMD Athlon 64X2 5200+ CPU
    2x 1GB Corsair DDR2 PC2-6400 CAS4 Dominator RAM Modules
    MSI NX8800GTS-T2D640E GPU
    (New/Blank) Seagate 250GB IDE HDD
    IDE DVD-RW Drive
    PCI Firewire Card
    PCI Wireless Card
I've checked around on other forums for similar issues with/without this board and tried a few obvious checks such as removing unnecessary cards, devices, RAM, HDD ad nothing produces any results or hints. The speaker is definately connected to the board and the power lights are lighting up.
    Any suggestion appreciated, Thanks

Cheers, doesn't matter, took it to the local PC shop and after a bit of fiddling they noticed that there was a power point on the K9N m/board that needed connecting but which my power supply didn't have a connector for (a 4 pin, same type as the main m/board power connector). They cut a spare 8pin in half and bingo, works fine!

  • K9N Diamond integrated sound card issue (XP64)

I´m having problems with the integrated sound card on my K9N Diamond MB,i cant seem to get the sound to work.
I couldnt use the drivers that came with the MB cause XP64 doesnt read the disc, so i tried the downloadable drivers from this site. To make sure it wasnt the speakers i´ve plugged in headphones in the line-out (green) slot and it still wont work.
And i cant install a separate card cause i use SLI GeForce 7900GTX and they take up pretty much all the space on the board. And i cant go with XP-pro either.
    Someone please help

I did, said it found no compatible device for the drivers. Checked in the Mainboard manual for the exact brand of the card.
XP appears to identify the card in every way i´ve checked, and i´ve double checked the volume controls so that nothing is on mute just to be sure. There´s just no sound coming out.
download correct drivers for XP 64 (http://download.msi.com.tw/support/dvr_exe/mbd_dvr/Creative_Audigy_Drivers.zip)
ensure your onboard sound is enabled in BIOS.
install it. ensure its installed propery (in device manager--->multimedia device)
configure your speakers to correct configuration, ensure your speakers is connected property.
ensure in mixer settings "digital output only" is uncheked.
if you wana install drivers from creative: after download correct drivers pack. right click on it and select extract to xxxx folder. then update it manually.

You know what ... this forum is crap ...you ask for help and all you get is a load of crap replys that help in no way at all thnx for wasting my time. And for the record if you guys accually knew how to overclock my cpu with my mobo then u would have just told me with no problems but instead u have wasted about 3 days of my time waiting for usuful reply and help from a decent person ! good job.
Ill figure it out myself as iv already gotten it 3.0 stable with reading only what other ppl used on there bios with short amount of trial and error.
Wow.  Some people just really don't get it...
We all know how to overclock CPUs, of course.  Why are you biting the hand of the arm trying to help you?  I used the P7N Diamond for several months, and also provided a lot of the overclocking tips and hints, along with every beta/performance BIOS MSI released.
If you want me to do the overclocking for you, and rid you of the experience; hell, I have no problem with that.  The P7N is a simple board to overclock until the NB gets too hot.  Max out the FSB term, don't touch the GTL voltages, and adjust the CPU Vcore only when needed.  If you cannot follow anything I said in the last sentence - go back to stock settings.
Do you even know how to stability test an overclocked system?
If you don't want to learn, you're most likely not going to get beyond 3.2 GHz.

  • Can u go opteron dual core (165) with a msi diamond mobo for desktop use

is it worth it, ive researched it has more cache than x2 3800+ the opteron 165, whats better for overall performance, gaming, running windows etc..? thanks
and i have a neo4 platnium should i upgrade to the diamond sli mobo?

Sure you can - your Neo 4 should handle it fine. Assuming you upgrade to a Dual Core compatable BIOS before doing your CPU swap.
I have a Opty 165 in my Neo2 Platinum mobo & it works great.
You will probably have to to do a repair install or install a fresh copy of XP to make sure that both cores operate properly though.

  • K9N2 Diamond Mobo temperature

Hey everybody, I was just wondering what your experience with the K9N2 Diamond was on motherboard temperatures  ??? According to everest and the bios, I am always getting around high 80's celcius!!! I have always felt that this is way TOO HOT! Correct me if I am wrong or I am getting bad readings I hope! Please let me know your expereinces, thanks!

    Read >>Posting Guide<<
If you have such CPU temp you will be noticed with stability issues.
    Check those:
    •    Verify that CPU is not exceeding recommended temperature by checking the CPU temperature in the BIOS under PC Health status
    •    Check CPU heatsink/fan is properly installed
    •    Verify that any cover over the thermal interface on the bottom of the CPU HSF is removed
    •    Verify that CPU HSF is recommended for your CPU
    •    Check for CPU overclocking which may cause overheating
    •    Check CPU Vcore voltage
    •    Check computer case for proper ventilation
