Advice wanted,needed and appreciated concerning mb.+cpu combinations. Here is what I am looking at.

865pe Neo2 pfisr.
CPU -
$397 - Pentium 4 3.4GHz 800MHz
$279 - Pentium 4 3.2GHz Prescott
$265 - Pentium 4 3.2GHz 800MHz
$209 - Pentium 4 3.0GHz Prescott
$201 - Pentium 4 3.0GHz 800MHz
Which cpu to choose and best with Mb.
I prefer northwood which are getting harder to find and when you do find one the prices are rising. Prefer this combo 865pe neo2 pfisr+3.2 northwood combo but this preference is not set in stone
Any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

My experience is that 3.0 and 3.2 cpu´s are very close in performance and potential, even when OC´ed.
I´ve reach 3.6Ghz with both with default vcore. After that I have to start tweaking too much to get the extra Mhz, to feel comfortable.
(I got two 3.0Ghz Northwood and one 3.2Ghz Prescott in differant boards).
Better put rest of the money to other upgrades, since you will not notice any big performance differans other then in benchmarks.
But if you´re not willing to OC at all, you could always put your money in some more stockspeed. Your choise.
These comments are based on that you´re planning on using your other current components ( except new Mobo / CPU)
However, if you are willing to build a new system today, I would personally look into the AMD /Nforce4 939 socket solutions, instead of Intel 775 socket.

Only thing is that you will need to add a new PCIe Graphic card togheter with new Mobo and CPU. ( You can still use most of your current components ).

Therefore such upgrade is your own risk.
First of all you have to know what CPUs are supported by the chipset.
But even if the nee CPU would be supported by the chipset, there are still open questions about BIOS supports. Nevertheless, youve got good chances to get a CPU running if chipset would support the new CPU

While some efforts have been made to bypass it, running a Mac operating system on such a machine is unreliable at best, and nonfunctional at worst. The integration of software and hardware is what makes Macs unique. It also is what generally makes them much more reliable. Wanting to overclock my CPU! Help!

I have come to the conclusion that I need to over clock my CPU to enhance game play with the addition of my new GTX 260, and additional RAM. I added two more gigs of RAM for a total of four gigs.
My system specs are listed below!!

*74 gig 10,000 RPM raptor OS drive. 120 gig 7200 RPM Maxtor storage drive. 120 gig 7200 RPM Maxtor game drive.
*Corsair 620 Watt Power Supply (CMPSU-620HX)
*Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer.

My FPS are not too bad on the games I play. I am a big BF2, and BF2142 game player. I do have my RAM set up in the bios correctly, but have left my CPU on auto. My 3D Mark vantage score is 10195 with my current config. I plan on buying a copy of Vista 64 bit to get control of my entire four gigs of RAM. System info reports four gigs installed, but only three gigs total physical memory.
Ok, I have not messed around with overclocking, so please inform me of the best route. At this point in time, I am just wanting to over clock my CPU. I have a huge LianLi server case with awesome air flow. I am using a large Zalman after market CPU cooler. Would it be better to wait until after I installed Vista 64 bit to do any overclocking?
So, should I just do a bunch of reading, or would it be better to take the advice of the informative people right here in the forums? I would like to be able to try some instruction from you guys so I can come right back to report performance, or lack there of.

Ok, I have done allot of reading, and have a few questions that are specific to my mobo (MSI P6N SLI Platinum). This is just an example: I see that my CPU voltage is 1.176v using CPUZ. In my bios, I cannot type in a number that I want the voltage to be. Instead I can only up the voltage in .0125 increments. Say I want my CPU voltage at 1.375v. Do I need to hit the "page up" key 16 times to get my voltage at 1.375v??
Also when adjusting FSB voltage, it is measured in percentages in the bios. First of all, what is the stock FSB voltage for my mobo? Where is this voltage displayed? If I wanted my FSB voltage to be 1.3, how much in percentages do I up it in the bios??
I hope all this makes sense.

How can I O/C my system further? I need all advices about this mobo and cpu.

Yep the thread is long winded and a bit bizar in places if you were not in on the original conversation.

Why can't you purchase stuff from the itunes store if you're not in that country? I'm in South Africa and most of the best things I want to download are on the US itunes, so I try switch to it but it won't let me download or purchase? I don't get it?

I don't get why? What's the harm if you're in a different country? We all pay the same way and the internet was made to connect people over the world, stuff is downloaded from different global destinations millions of times a day. So what's the point of having an itunes store and App Store that limits you to the boring stuff in your own country? You read about these great app's, bands etc and find them in search engines, you have all the Mac products, but then you can't use them coz of where you're currenlty living? It's like a horrible tease!
Is there a way around this? Or what can be done in order to access the things I want?

The reason is licensing - artists/record companies/TV networks/movie distributors all have separate licensing deals in different countries (or no licensing deals at all). It isn't mysterious or secret.
The only way around this is to have an iTunes account in the other country - either a valid credit card with billing address in that country, or an iTunes gift card from that country (though you'll still be asked for a billing address in the country for which you've purchased the card).

Payment advice required on ACH file to bank

My client have a requirement to add payment advice to ACH payment file to bank. I'm generating the DME file (ACH payments ) correctly and are able to print payment advices. I want the payment advice to be added to the DME file; When, I unchecked the
the print control for printing payment advices, the payment advices are not added to the ACH or DME file.
If I check the flag "individual payment" on vendor master ( means separate payment for each invoice), then the payment advices are added as a separate record on the payment file. However, we don't want individual payment for each invoice in the case of multiple invoices to the same vendor.
Does any anyone have any idea how to fix this? I search for an OSS note but didn't find any.

Hi Tony
Acc to my knowledge, usually we would maintain an advice note against an invoice like a reference. So Std SAP might not able to pick that adivce for multiple invoices. Which might be correct.
I would suggest you take the help of an ABAPer to see from where it picks up the data during the individual payment and if that same field is getting populated during the multiple (which might not be happening).
Please, correct me if my understanding of the process is wrong.

No, I just want to save battery power. I don't want the CPU to be clocked as high when I'm on battery. I would set the CPUFreq governor to ondemand, but when I issue sudo cpupower frequency-set -g ondemand, I get:

- Do you have proper administration rights? (super-user?)
- Is the governor you requested available and modprobed?
- Trying to set an invalid policy?
- Trying to set a specific frequency, but userspace governor is not available,

still CPU is not getting released. What am I doing wrong? After

I have 2 hardisk,so i want to set two scratch disk but i doesnt work

i have 500g and another 160g hardisk.
such as i set up scratch disk in d: drive in 500g hardisk and f: driver in 160g hardisk
but i have found photoshop just use d: driver as scratch disk ,and never use f: driver.
why?

Okay! So you want to RAID your Scratch Disks! I've not tried that, and I don't know how Photoshop would handle a RAID Scratch Disk; I'm afraid someone smarter than me will have to visit the thread.
But even it were possible, both disks would have to be the the same size/capacity, speed, and cache; you can't RAID different sized disks like the ones you have, so you'd either have to have 2x 500GB, or 2x 160GB drives to start with, plus a dedicated RAID card to do the processing for you, you wouldn't want your CPU to be handling that load as well as everything else, the drives would also need to be internal as well, not an external RAID enclosure, where the I/O port becomes a bottleneck.
If you can, change the name of your question, "I have 2 hardisk, so I want to set two scratch disk but it doesn't work," to something like, "Need to RAID Photoshop Scratch Disks!" and hopefully someone who knows a LOT more about Photoshop and RAID than me will be able to give you an answer.
Also, please give as much information about your system as possible, what Operating System are you running, is it 32 or 64 Bit, Processor type and speed, installed RAM, Motherboard (some support RAID natively) etc.

Database advice

Hi,
I know database questions have been asked quite often here
and I've
searched through previous posts and found some valuable info.
But just
wanted some extra advice.
I'm building an aplication that's made of parts. First, you
have the
database management program. This is relaltively simple -
just names of
people with related data for each person. The user can open
this
application, choose a person and change his/her info. The
user can also
add a new person. The information needs to be saved. I was
thinking this
is easy enough to do with Director and saving to an external
text file.
My second application displays a person and his/her info on
screen and
reads this info from the external text file. This application
is a
Director file. These are both done offline.
So, my question is what adivce do you have on this? Should I
just stick
with a text file. Should I make it a database? If I go with a
database,
what's the most simple one to use?

Most of the database xtras come with a database management
program. For
instance, I know that both Valentina and Arca have dedicated
programs to
adding, changing, and otherwise manipulating the data in the
database.
If you don't want that, it is pretty easy to write such a
thing, since
all the database xtras have Lingo functions to read and write
to the
database, so you can make a simple program that is just an
interface for
changing things.
Making the other part of the program to just display stuff
from the
database is even easier.
It may be easier (and definitely cheaper) to not use a
database per se,
instead just use Lingo lists. It depends on the quantity and
types of
the data. If you just need it to store name, address, phone
number, and
photo of <1000 people, and the photo portion can be an
external image,
then a Lingo list is the way to go. I just made that 1000
number up,
there is not real cutoff, but after a list gets real big, it
can get
difficult to manage. I have heard of folks using 10000 item
lists
without problems.
You can make a program that manipulates the list pretty
easily using the
Lingo commands setAProp, addProp, and deleteProp (check the
help files
for more details on those commands)

In this case, I only have info about 1 person. But you can
use setAProp
to set info about as many fols as you want. And if all of the
photos
are in for instance, a folder called "photos" under the
folder that the
Director project is in, you could use a command like this on
a bitmap
sprite to display it *this one is Windows only, if you needed
it to be
Mac compatible, then make sure you can use Mac foldername
converntions,
(i.e. colon as folder delimiter instead of the backslash):

In fact, now that I think of it, I believe that both of them
can save
image data into a list, so you may not even need to keep the
images as

Hi, the rule of thumb is - you better have as low CPU ready time as possible. Regarding your question both of your diagrams probably show CPU ready for the same VM. Both of them actually advise how long your VM waits to get all configured vCPU. The diagram with ms shows how long VM waits for available CPU in ms. However by my experience the diagram which shows percentage is more useful. I made a small note for myself that if CPU ready % is greater than 5% the VM is in horrible state. Ideally you want your CPU ready % less than 0.5% for Production (and important) VMs. Hope this will be useful for you.
