Wanted to verify SMIL support in Flash Player

Is SMIL 2.0 specification support in Flash Player or only
SMIL 1.0?
I have a web and application server under development and
testing which generates SMIL 2.0 a/v layout files to be used with
RealPlayer...works fine. But wanted to see if can convert video
files from RMVB to FLV and use Flash Player since usage/install
base is more wide spreadh and SMIL is claimed to be supported
(haven't tried yet).
Thanks,
Mark Bobsin

Hi Bentley,
I just noticed something. The link that I pasted, to your
post, does not work either. I noticed why, however, and it seems to
be why the link in your original page does not work, and why the
link in my post that goes to your post does not work.
It seems to be that if a link has a period after it (i.e., if
it is at the end of a sentence), the period is incorrectly included
in the "real" link. Somehow, whatever mechanism that processes the
post has a mini bug in it.
If you go to the link that is results in "Sorry, this page is
not available", and look up into the browser address bar, you will
see the period there each time.
I just thought that I would point this out, too, so that the
web techs in charge of the workings of the forums could look into
it.
Here is the original link, without a period after it, to your
original page.

    Hi Bentley,
I wanted to tell you that an important link you posted does

It is in your post entitled "Locked [ADOBE FYI] : Getting

This is the issue I am dealing with myself, and desperately

You need to upgrade to Snow Leopard, but don't need to go past 10.6.8 to run the current version of Flash.

  • I want to download and install adobe flash player. When I do so one occur. A dialog box appears but it has no run option but a save file or cancel option.

    # Question
I want to download and install adobe flash player. When I do so one of 2 things occur. A dialog box appears but it has no run option but a save file or cancel option. The other is if the proper dialog box appears, I agree and the a different box appears and there is foxfire with a red circle with a diagonal line across is appears.

I find the easiest way to install Adobe Flash is to use the manual installers. You just need to download the installer to your computer, then run it to install Flash. For more details see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller
That link states you should uninstall earlier versions, as you don't have the version of Flash used by Firefox you can skip that step.

  • TS1702 Why does iPad not support adobe flash player

Why does the Ipad not support Adobe Flash Player ?

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash. Adobe is not providing Flash for Apple iOS devices, and they no longer provide Flash for any other cellular phones. Flash is officially gone.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
A sample of Apps that can display some Flash content:
      1. Puffin
      2. SkyFire
      3. Photon Flash
      4. Browse2Go
      5. Swifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • What to do now that Adobe ended support for Flash Player 10.3?

Adobe ended support for Flash Player 10.3 on July 9. Downloads are no longer available anywhere that I can find. Adobe says 11.7 is now the "extended release" version. Since 10.3 has been the only solution when the latest Flash Player version won't work with Firefox, what do we do now? I have tested every Flash Player release after 10.3, and each starts crashing repeatedly after 24 hours. Each time, retreat to 10.3 was the only solution. The other suggestions in Firefox help don't work. I uninstalled 10.3 a few days ago to test 11.8 - the latest. It doesn't work with Firefox. Now I could only install 11.7. It hasn't failed yet, but it probably will tomorrow.
If Flash Player 11.8 and 11.7 don't work, and 10.3 is unavailable, what can we do?

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Support for flash player plugin in webview

Will the webview at some point support the flash player plugin? We have a legacy reporting engine that was developed in Flex that we were hoping we could access in a webview.
    Thanks.
    Stefan

No - webview will not support a flash player plugin.
install flash plugin for WebView "Thread: install flash plugin for WebView"
Richard's comment from the thread (Richard is the JavaFX lead):
As for plugins, we are not likely to ever support running plugins (except maybe applets), for security reasons. There are also additional issues. If the browser is to support arbitrary things that Chrome supports like native client etc, it adds to the footprint of the browser (and security risks). Already the WebView constitutes over half of the download size of JavaFX. I would need a pretty strong justification to make it larger if doing so also increases our risk to vulnerabilities.

  • Alternativa3D 8.12.0 update with support for Flash Player 11 Beta 2

To your attention we introduce the new public engine build Alternativa3D 8.12.0 which supports the Flash Player 11 Beta 2. So this version of the engine is completely compatible with the latest Flash Player build at the present moment. We have also accelerated the mouse events system and added the orthographic mode to the camera.
    Complete list of changes
The public version Flash Player 11 Beta 2 is now supported.
The orthographic mode has been added to the Camera3D.
The MouseEvent system has been optimized and accelerated.
    Logo “AlternativaPltaform” has been updated.
Now when objects are added and removed from the parent, the event will be sent (Event3D.ADDED, Event3D.REMOVED).
The ability to change the property renderToBitmap into View after creating has been added.
The height and width of the View has been limited to the minimum size of 50×50.
Bug in mouse events system when used skins divided on surfaces by divide() was fixed.
A bug has been fixed in Decal.
Skin lighting algorithm changed to more precise one.
ParserCollada: Fixed a bug when binormal vector of the vertices of the object was incorrectly parsed.
The value of backgroundAlpha in the View constructor changed to 1.0 by default.
VertexLightTextureMaterial now draws correctly without lights in scene.
    MouseEvent3D was moved from alternativa.engine3d.core to alternativa.engine3d.core.events.
A bug has been fixed in Object3D.dispatchEvent().
The offset property has been added to the constructor Decal and it is compulsory.
Now the offset property can be copied using the clone () method of class Decal.
The ratio property has been removed from View class.
VertexLightTextureMaterial now can be used with skin with the maximum number of bones in surface no more than 33.
