Wanting to disable pinch to zoom on TouchSmart 310 PC

I have our computer set up in kiosk mode to use as a sign in for our volunteers. I would like to disable the pinch/zoom feature so the screen stays at one resolution.
Does anyone know how this is possible?

I have the exact same issue. Is there a windows registry setting which can be used to disable zooming?

  • Reconsider an option to disable pinch-to-zoom...

    Hi there.
I know that I have created a topic like this before, but I would like to ask you to reconsider adding an option to disable pinch-to-zoom on iOS, when controlling the mouse pointer in the Remote Desktop app.
I have use Remote Desktop for iOS every day, pretty much since the day it came out, and it is far superior to any other remote app on the market in my opinion.
But I really can't stand the pinch-to-zoom feature that was suddenly added.
I use two-finger-scroll a lot, but it really annoys me that 80-90% of the time the app thinks I want to zoom instead, even though I'm very precise in planting my two fingers horizontally and dragging them straight up-and-down.
And you would think that if you are able to add a new feature you should definitely be able to add an option to disable it for those that don't want to use it.
I really hope you will reconsider adding that option, because using the other control mode where pinch-to-zoom is disabled is not really an option for me.
Thanks in advance and many greetings from Denmark.

Bugged me for ages as well. One thing that seems to work (hooray...)
    1/ Install BetterTouchTool http://blog.boastr.net/?page_id=195
2/ In BTT select "Application Finder" and "Touchpad"
3/ Add new gesture twice, set one to Pinch In, the other to Pinch Out
4/ Keep the assigned action / shortcut empty [...or assign it to a script that says "Hooray... Not zooming" if you prefer ...]

  • Disable pinch to zoom

    Hi,
I sometimes accidentally pinch my trackpad over the desktop, making all the icons bigger and forcing me to rearrange them the way I'm used to having them. How can I disable pinch on my desktop without disabling it in other applications (safari, preview....)
    Thanks,
    K.

  • Disable pinch to zoom, but only for resizing icons?

On my shiny new 17" MacBook Pro (my first ever MacBook, which I'm loving!) I keep inadvertently resizing my Finder/desktop icons using the trackpad. Can I switch off the pinch to zoom gesture for this purpose, without switching it off entirely?
    Cheers

you can try BetterTouchTool (search using google) and set for finder to use the pinch gestures to do something like volume up or some key combo. It works pretty well. If you try this method and have and questions, let me know.

  • Hp 4510s probook - touchpad pinch--to-zoom disable

As the subject descibes... I'm trying to figure out how to disable the "pinch-to-zoom" on HP 4510s ProBook.
It's extremely annoying to be zooming in/out while typing in (e.g. MS Word) if I accidently touch the touchpad with my thumb(s). I'm not looking for adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad. I have done that. I'm looking for completely disabling the feature.
Any suggestions or a link to a manual would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

Hello vasheck, Fortunately, it is relatively easy to configure your touchpad to suit your preferences.
To start, open up the Control Panel from the Start menu. Then, change to "Classic View" (Vista) or change icon display to "Small icons" (Windows 7).
Double-click on "Mouse", and the Mouse Properties dialog will open up.
Click the "Device Settings" tab. Under the list of Synaptics devices installed on your system, click the "Settings..." button.
Now, the touchpad configuration window will appear.
Use this to configure your touchpad to work the way you want, there are lots of settings and videos on how to use them in this dialog, so feel free to explore.
If you want to disable pinch-to-zoom, you can do it by navigating to the "Pointer Motion -> Pinch" category or Zooming category (depending on the version of your driver).
Once you've got to the Zooming / Pinch Zoom option, simply uncheck it and click OK to disable pinch zoom.
Other settings, such as sensitivity, can be found here. Basically, every option relating to the operation of your touchpad can be found in this configuration tool. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

  • Is there a way to disable that "no zooming" magnifying glass icon?

I'm working on a folio that uses smooth scrolling articles as well as regular single-page articles. My problem is that when I save everything to PDF format, some pages you can pinch and zoom, and others (specifically the smooth scrolling articles) you can't. I figure if I disable pinch and zoom entirely, there will be less confusion.
Question 1: Can you choose to turn off pinch and zoom on PDF articles? How?
Question 2: Can you disable the "no zooming" magnifying glass that pops up when you try to zoom an article that doesn't support it? (eg: smooth scrolling pages)
Question 3: Does anyone know when smooth scrolling will be possible on PDF articles? Because if smooth scrolling was supported on PDF articles this whole thing wouldn't be a problem to begin with.
    Thanks!

    Thanks Bob!
In your answer to Question #1, if you turn off "Enable Pinch & Zoom" will the magnifying glass not appear?
I noticed that the Vogue app featured (http://tv.adobe.com/watch/digital-publishing-customer-showcase/app-of-the-week-vogue/) does not have the magnifying glass icon and wondered how they did that.

  • Pinch and zoom frame - incompatible with PDF article type?

    Hi there,
If I want to have pinch and zoom within a frame (i.e. not whole page), will this not work when the article type is PDF? I've only managed to get this working for a JPG article so far.
      Thanks,
    Toby

I'm finding pinch and zoom tricky to implement, in general. The only way I have got it to work so far is by creating a new document, then doing as described here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS9293e1fb3b977c5c73657495129f66e490f-7f fe.html
I then added the article to my folio using the JPG type. However, this only worked the first time I updated the viewer, and then stopped working on all subsequent updates. It's still just a placed image, there's nothing else on the page.
I've also tried adding pinch and zoom functionality to an existing article (PDF type) and couldn't get this to work at all, however I was adding it to a multi-state object, which may have been complicating matters.

  • We want pinch to zoom feature back in finder..

Pinch to zoom was very useful feature and now even finder bottom image size slider doesn't work properly. I think developers forgot that function and need an update very soon...

Ya.. Oh my Godd... it's really really unbelievable !
    I need this function back!
what in the world is going on with this latest OS, even claimed to be world's most advanced!?
I was shocked enough when I realized no 4finger swipe to switch apps, and 3finger swipe to go back and forth between pages not working when you have 3finger drag enabled
now what's utterly frustrating is NO MORE PINCH TO ZOOM IN FINDER
this is like one of the most important functions in the OS, and it's gone!?
    this must come back
please fix these in the next update

  • Muse mobile site won't pinch or zoom on iPhone?

I cannot manage to get the iphone muse site I have created to zoom in, it will scroll down and up, but say I want to zoom in to read something up close it won't work.
If anyone can advise on this that would be great. The normal site on the web works fine but table and phone won't.

    @Zak Williamson
I found out what was causing the problem. I disabled the Parallax scrolling effects and the pinch and zoom started working.

  • Magic Track Pad with Lion 10.7 and Safari zoom aA vs Pinch to zoom

    Hi,
I enjoy a Mac Mini (early 2009) hooked to a 50 inch plasma and surf from my couch, stream etc... We browse with Safari 5.X and enjoyed the new Magic Track Pad with Snow Leopard. You could zoom / scale Safari with Snow Leopard beautifully, with a pinch out on the trackpad, same function as aA option on the browser task bar.
Now with Lion, the pinch to zoom feature zooms but doesn't scale the safari window the same way aA option used to.  In lion a pinch out to zoom in will push a significant part of the browser screen off / out of view.
The aA option on the safari task bar scales the window, and keeps everything visible but larger, but now in Lion it is not available from the Magic Track Pad Gestures. The Button is still there on the browser but there is no option to access it from the track pad with a gesture.
How can I revert to the old way of zooming / Scaling a Safari web page with my Magic track pad in Lion?
    Thanks,
    H

You can see in that screenshot that a lot of browser.gesture.pinch prefs have an empty string as their value and thus won't have any effect.
You can restore some zoom feature by modifying the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page via the right-click context menu.
    * browser.gesture.pinch.in -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReduce</b>
    * browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    * browser.gesture.pinch.out -> <b>cmd_fullZoomEnlarge</b>
    * browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
You may want to toggle this pref (I don't know what effect this has):
    * browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> <b>false</b>

  • Is there a way to change the pinch-to-zoom feature?

Is there a way to change the behavior of pinch-to-zoom in Safari 5.1.4 on Lion?  It seems to have adopted the iOS zoom (where it's a zoom into an area on the page) and I would prefer that it emulated a Command-+ type of page zoom.  When using pinch-to-zoom in a site like Gmail or Google Reader, the content ends up requiring horizontal scrolling if you pinch-to-zoom... while Command-+ increases the size of everything but keeps it within a single screen.
Can this be done?  Is there the equivalent of the about:config page from Firefox?
Apple... can you fix this (or offer an option to determine how pinch-to-zoom works in Safari)?!?!
    Thanks!
    - John

    Thanks for your response.
I have searched for a solution to change the order of my tags and haven't found it.
I add multiple tags to my emails and the color at a glance means something to me - if I add an earlier, more up the priority ladder it shows that color instead of the one that I want. I'm rambling but the fact remains that I would like to be able to change the tag priority.
    Have a great one!

  • Pinch to zoom not working properly in Safari 5.1

I have OS X 10.6.8 (downloading lion as i type). I updated safari this morning and ever since I did that, pinch to zoom isnt working right. I can pinch to zoom in, to a certain extent but I can not get as large as I want as I used to and I cannot zoom back out at all. It seems to be working properly in my other apps so I guess it's something in safari. I'm not very Mac savvy since everything usually works and I dont have to be, so maybe I'm missing something? Help! I use this feature CONSTANTLY and desperately want it back. Thanks in advance!

    Same here.
MBP Late 2007 with Magic Trackpad
    OSX 10.6.8
    Safari 5.1  (6534.50)
I could zoom in once and then it wouldn't work anymore by using the pinching on the Magic Trackpad.
Pressing Command and +/- still worked.
I deleted Safari 5.1 and reinstalled the Combo Update to get 5.0.5 back and it worked properly again.
Then I installed 5.1 another time and had the same error again.
I guess I got to roll back to 5.0.5

  • Pinch to zoom does not work. Firefox 15.0.1, Mac OS 10.7.4, how do I enable this?

How do I enable pinch to zoom? I don't want to type in code in about:config. If there is not a setting I can change, I'll go back to Safari.

    Hi Junebugapril
    try in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config]
    <pre>browser.gesture.pinch.in
    ''value'' cmd_fullZoomReduce
    browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift
    ''value '' cmd_fullZoomReset
    browser.gesture.pinch.out
    ''value'' cmd_fullZoomEnlarge
    browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift
    ''value'' cmd_fullZoomReset
    </pre>
    ''String'' all the above
    thank you

  • Bug in PDF pinch and zoom?

Hi, I have a big problem related the PDF pinch and zoom.
When I try to make an article with 2 vertical pages each containing one imported PDF and 1 horizontal page contain two imported PDF, the result is a simple jpeg page with no pinch and zoom.
The strange thing is that if in the same article I add more vertical and horizontal pages, the pinch and zoom works!
I use the latest version of Folio builder and Folio Producer and, off course, I follow the normal steps: I choose PDF when I create an article, I use iPad and not Android and the PDF zooming is enabled in Viewer Builder.
I need to have 2 vertical pages and 1 horizontal to adapt an a paper magazine (I know the DPS has not been made for this but my publisher want to publish all our magazine with this platform, we also have a magazine specifically designed for the DPS ). My "idea" is create a stack every two pages to allow rotation between pages remaining on the same pages and enable the horizontaly flow between "articles" but if the pdf are transformed in jpeg I can't proceed...
It's a bug or I missed some step?
Thanks in advance for your answers
Claudio (from Italy, sorry for my english!)

I think there might be a bug here.
I've successfully created a pinch zoom folio using the sidecar.zip files posted by Klaasjan.
However if I import my own article (_h and _v both set to iPad dimensions and containing a simple text field of text).
If the article format is set to PDF, once created and I view the Properties panel, the Smooth Scrolling option is set to Horizintal only and greyed out so it cannot be changed. So no pinch/zoom is available.
If the article format is set to Automatic, once created and I view the Properties panel, I can set the Smooth Scrolling property to Off (Snap to page) and tick the Horizintal Swipe Only checkbox (so I'm matching the setting of the sidecar examples).
However, when I the Update the article to the Folio Producer and then check the article Properties again, the Smooth Scrolling has reverted to Horizontal Only. So again, no pinch zoom.
