Wanting to make iphone wallpaper my desktop background?
I would like to make my iphone wallpaper my desktop background. Anyone know where I can find properly sized images for use on my desktop? Thanks.
Where did you get the wallpaper that is currently on the iPhone? What image are you exactly using as the wall paper photo?
You can try a google search for Wallpaper used on iPhones.
And this may provide you with full sized images and properly sized images.
If you snapped a photo on the iPhone and are using it as a BG for the iPhone. Then you can simply email this photo to yourself and use as a wallpaper or sync the photo to your PC/Mac

I want to make shortcuts to my desktop
I want to make shortcuts to my desktop for certain websites that I use all the time. In Explorer, I just right clicked and sent a shortcut.
However, Firefox instructs me to click on the "world" symbol to the left of the website address to make the shortcut. This does not work because I do not not have a "world" symbol next to the web address. I either have a padlock or a binoculars (well it looks like binoculars) symbol and so I am unable to do what Firefox suggests.
This is driving me crazy and is one of the things (as well as the bookmark system) that I don't like about Firefox.
Is there someone who can please tell me how to do it?
Thank you. Also, if you do this often, there is an add-on for sending a shortcut to Windows without having to drag it manually. I haven't tried it myself:
* Its page on the Add-ons site: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/deskcut/
* A review describing an extra setup step if it's not working (the extension was last updated in 2011): https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/deskcut/reviews/490684/ -
A friend of mine wants to sync iphone, ipad and desktop (2 AppleIDs)
The problem is that the ApplId on the iphone is different than the one she used on the ipad nd desktop. If we enter the apple Id from the Ipad into the iphone will iCLoud sync her contacts from the iPhone to the iPad and Desktop?? She has 600 contacts so I really want to be sure before I do anything.
ThanksCopy that voice memo, create a new email and paste it and send it to yourself! You can save it to your computer now and send it to someone else

Easiest way to make a photo your desktop background
In iPhoto, making a photo into your desktop is a simple single click. Is there any way in Aperture to do this?
Thanks,
BorisYou can access the Library from the Desktop and ScreenSaver PreferencePanes in SystemPreferences.

HT2478 how do you make the setting to change desktop background every time you shut down your mac
how to make setting to change desktop background every time you close your mac
because i want to make it if anybody tries to change my dekstop picture i want it to go backto set desktop pictureDon't let other people access your Mac in admin mode - they might change something a lot more important than the Desktop picture.
However you can use Automator: create an Application in it, and select 'Set the Desktop Picture' from the Library. Choose the picture you want. Save the application, then go to System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items and select the Automator application you just created. This will then run at startup and set your chosen picture. -
Safari as Desktop Background?
2 questions I suppose...
Is there a way to have an "interactive" desktop wallpaper? And if so how?
I want to make google.com my actual background on my desktop so i can just click in the field and search at my leisure...while still having immediate access to icons on my desktop.
Is anything like this a possibility? Or am I crazy? Or maybe both?
Thanks,
TomAlthough you can't get Safari to behave in the way you described, there are alternative solutions available, of which I've listed a few below. In general, they seem to be rather skimpy on features, but hopefully you'll find something that strikes your fancy.
1. WebDesktop
2. Desktop Web Browser
3. DesktopBrowser
4. iBrowser
5. NagaraBrowser

Putting Safari images as desktop background
I am still somewhat new to macs, having before used Windows for a while. I know that, in Windows, when you want an internet image as your desktop background, you right-click and then select Set As Wallpaper. But, when my Mac first came, I was boggled that there was no right-click button. Can someone please tell me how to set images from Safari as my background?
Thanks! There is a right-click button, even on old one-button mice. Just hold down the control key when you click.
Unfortunately, setting a web image to the Desktop picture is one of the few processes which takes more steps on the Mac than in Windows. You can right-click (control-click) on an image, then save it to iPhoto. Then go to "System Preferences" in the Apple menu, and choose "Desktop and Screensaver." Choose "Desktop" tab and on the left, go to the Library, then select the image you saved. -
Video as desktop background?
Is it possible to make a video a desktop background? If so, how? If not, it should be (hint hint).
Hi and welcome to Discussions,
ScreenWatcher http://code.google.com/p/screenwatcher/ for example.
There should be more to find on MacUpdate.

after downloading iphone pictures to desktop, itunes won't open. I downloaded itunes 10.6 (64bit) but get "Do you want the following program to make changes to your computer?" Apple Inc. I've clicked "yes", restarted the computer, and still no luck.
I also have the same problem, but the Software Updates tool doesn't recognise that Quicktime is out of date. Have you tried downloading Quicktime 7.7 Leopard from http://support.apple.com/downloads/#quicktime as this worked for me...?

I want to make a slideshow to view on my television with image's duration ranging from seconds to an hour or more and I want to use my iPhone or iPad mini to control the television through my Apple tv.
I've been unable to locate an app that will do this. The Photos app that comes with the phone or iPad has extremely limited duration controls. PhotoStream seems to load everything from my phone or iPad not allowing me to just load up a set group of images.
iPhoto for iPad is getting some terrible recent reviews. I tried a couple other free apps but they don't use Airplay.
I can do something like this with iPhoto and my MB Air, but it's kind of ugly to have the computer open in order to connect by Airplay to my Apple TV. I've thought the iPad or iPhone would be a lower profile controller.
Am I out of luck? Thanks for your help. Since I'm uninterested in loading all my photos (the only option) into photostream, I won't be able to use the settings in ATV. I guess I'm just stuck with using iPhoto on my MB Air. Thanks again.

Hi Maryan,
Open System Preferences > Displays > select the window for you external monitor > click on the Arrangement tab and check the box next to Mirror Displays. It may be slightly different in Lion, but the idea is the same. -

I want to upgrade my 2007 Mac desktop to 10.5 Leopard. I am currently running on 10.4.11. When I put the leopard disk into the drive all it does is make a weird noise and then spits the disk right back out. It doesn't do this with any other discs, only this software. Is it still possible to update this computer?
Yes. Try Amazon.
Before you do upgrade to Snow Leopard, make sure your Mac meets the requirements.
Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard - Technical Specifications
Make sure the disc you tried using doesn't have any fingerprints or smudges on it. The optical drive can't read the disk otherwise.
If your Mac won't read the disc, might be a good idea to rule out any problems with the startup disk BEFORE trying to upgrade the system.
Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
