Wants to display variable as key value in Free Char section of report

Hi All,
I have a variable based on characteristic. When I execute report, I pass value for that variable. And I get text of that variable value, displayed in Free Characteristic section.
Instead of text, I want to display key value there.B'coz many times, texts are ambiguous and quite fictional examples.
I have tried changing 'Display as key' in Business explorer tab of infoobject definition. And in query definition, I already have 'Display as Key'. So I am wondering what else needs to be done for this change.
I will appreciate if someone can help me on this.

Hi Pranali,
You can display all variables used in Query in workbook from BEx Menu(Tool bar) -->> Layout --> Display Text eliments --> Variables (you can see two entries for each variable) one for key and one for Text.

Bex 3.x displays report in Excel as you know.
In the Bex query designer ,include a dummy formula or calc kf or any such thing
In the excel sheet, you have option of writing a VB code that can refer you calmonth and populate relevant calyear in that dummy column created by you.
This will avoid any kind of upload in cube as the data population goes in runtime. For huge data sets , check on performance

I have attached a sequence to give you an idea of how to get the Result count (I didn't check it's working ), I have used "SequenceFilePostResultListEntry" callback to calculate the Result Count,
and the Result Count is passed to the "ModifyReportHeader" through File Globals, where you can edit the XML file to show it in the Repot (follow the link in my previous post).

Rh Variable displays variable name, not value

In master page, header, I have inserted the chapter name. When I generate the output, it displays the variable name, PD Chapter Name, not the value of the variable. The code is unaltered from the button selection 'Insert Chapter Name' . Is there another step I'm missing? Thank you!

Display the second report as modalform and filter with primary key value of first report when you click on first report column link

I have two reports.
1. order report
2. order detail report
when you click on the order report column it display the order detail report as a modal form.
i was done below steps.
1. In page header i was written the below code

4. created the hidden item in order detail report.
5. in order report column attributes i was given link like below.

when i click on the order report column link it passing the row primary key value to hiddent and open the report as modal form. however it is not filter the report with hidden item. it showing the no data found.
problem is hidden item value is not submitting. once we submit that value it showing the 2nd report with filter data.
can any help me to achieve above requirement.

Issue 1: Your usage of $s() JavaScript API seems to be wrong. For the first parameter, you need to use the name of the hidden page item and not p_order_id.

Issue 2: Seems like you are not setting the hidden page item's value in session state. Assuming your hidden page item is called P1_ORDER_ID, Under "Region Definition" tab of your "Order Detail Report" under "Source" tab, for page items to submit, enter the name of the hidden page item P1_ORDER_ID.

To retrieve the last Doc/Object added through DI API (DI Server is based on DI API) there is a method called "GetNewObjectCode" which can be used to retrieve the last DocCode which was added into the B1.
Please try the function for more help please look at the help files RefDI.chm which is installed with the SDK installation for B1.

Show Repeated key values in Reports and Export Into Excel

Hi Experts,
Currently I am working on the BW3.5 version. Our client requirement to display the repeated key value in web and export same into excel. I have followed the steps in web template which mentioned below to achieve the requirement.
1) In my web template, add the following line to the Template Properties object tag (the tag at the very top of the web template in HTML mode):<param name="SUPPRESS_REPETITION_TEXTS" value=""/>
After the change web template change, Myself execute the report in web, Its fine web. But I export into excel, again the key values are suppressed. So I have followed the steps in query. Then its fine. I mean, I can export into excel with repeated key values.
2) In my query, in Properties and on the Display tab, unchecked "Hide Repeated Key Values".
But do we have any other option without changing query properties to achieve the requirement.. I am fine with the web template change("SUPPRESS_REPETITION_TEXTS"). But I do not want to change the query properties.
Please help me to fix the issue. Thanks in advance.

Suggestion:
You can do exactly what you want, but it will take either a button changing the properties of the web item or a javascript function added to the context menu getting the properties of the table item and changing it to "X" or "". These are just two examples, there are other ways to do this. This is the actual code that sets the suppression for the repeated texts. Hope this helps.

Display only non zero values in rows

Hi Friends,
                  I have a key figure "X', and it is split over 12 months (aging buckets), by using formula, but I want to filter values with zero values ie I want to display all non zer values only.
This looks like
Apr        100
May       200
Jun         200
Jul            0
Aug
Sep
Oct
Nov
Dec
Jan
Feb
Mar
In the above example I dont want to display 'Jul' at all, and the rest should be displayed, Wherein all the above are formula(Apr, May,......)
Is it possible ?
If so , what is method.
I tried supress in query properties , Like supress zeros, but it is not working.

                   In my case condition is not working, as I want to display values that ae non zeros. If I am using conditions, none of the values are displayed like Apr, May,Jun, Jul, etc........, I want to display all values except Jul as that values is zero as per my example.

it depends on ur data...
if it is currency then u can use
WRITE.... CURRENCY...
if it is qty then u can use
WRITE....UNIT....
or u simply pass it to a packed field and it will take the default decimal settings of the user profile...

Report script - using substitution variable with multiple values

Substitution variable with multiple values is not working correctly with Report scripts. Can you please let me know what is the syntax to assign multiple values to a sub variable using maxl:
alter database samp.samp set variable 'ExtractQuarter' 'Q1,Q2,Q3,Q4';
alter database Samp.Samp set variable 'ExtractQuarter' 'Q1:Q4';
I tried both of the above but they are errored out with the below error:
Error: 1001005 - Unknown Member [Q1:Q4] in Report.
my requirement is different for both Actual and forecast data extract so i would like to make use of this variable to extract whole year data for Forecast and current quarter data for Actual with out duplicating the report scripts for both processes.

now our client wants we can restict sales group values based on text.
like 11 - XXXX.
here 11 key value and xxxx is the text.
as of now we can restrict values based on key values.
but client wants we can restrict values based on text.

Use DistinctCount keyword directly for your calculation instead of count(distinct(....
Alternatively, if you want to avoid duplicate records, under "File" > "Report Options" make the 'Select Distinct Records' as True.

User wants to display the % symbol beside the value

I have a key figure ..which is added to formula(aggregation tab set as average of a characteristic).
its displaying average correctly in the report output ,but user want it to be displayed % symbol beside that .
how can i do that ..
For other KPI ..i got the requirement as A-B/B and here i applied A-B %A B and its working fine.
What if i need to put % symbol beside a value ??

Hi Bilvanth ,
You can follow the below steps to achieve the desired output :
1) Create a formula in the query designer . Suppose your key figure is Y which you want to display with % symbol .
Take this key figure in the formula . Then from the Percentage Functions choose (%A)Percentage Share. Then after this write 100 .
So your formula would be : Y %A 100 .
2) Hide your original key figure Y and display this formula in the report . It will come with the percentage symbol .
Hope the above steps will help you to achieve the desired output .

Hi Adarsha.
You can add the standard web item called "Text Elements". When you have added it just insert the dataprovider you want the filter values displayed for.
