Wants to publish to a different owner's .mac account

I have designed 2 iWeb sites, one for an artist, and one for a vacation rental. Each owner has their own individual mac.com account.
I am opening the iWeb sites individually for updating by double clicking their icon, rather than opening the iWeb app.
At the bottom of the iWeb page for the vacation rental, the mac.com address for the artist appears, rather than the mac.com address for the vacation rental.
When I want to publish the vacation rental site to mac.com, "FILE/Publish to .Mac" is greyed out, and my only choice is "publish all to Mac.com.
Each iWeb site file is stored in a different place. Why doesn't the mac. com address at the bottom of the vacation rental page match it's owner, and how can I change that?

What you can try is going to System Preferences and logging in with false info to try and clear the system and then logging in again - try your MobileMe account details first and if successful try hers again and see if it works that time.
The only way you will sort this out is by her rememberingw hat her MMe username and password are so that you can log into her account and publish the site. The only other way is to contact Apple to try and get the correct username and password. You could just set up a new account of course, but more money!
The only way that you can sort out the problem with publishing the site is to be able to log into her MMe account so that the website is published under the correct account. If you don't have the correct username and password you can't do this.

  • IWeb Publishing error: "Can't connect to .mac account"

I have been able to publish fine until three days ago. I wait for my movies to be created then get a dreaded " Cannot connect to .mac account. Check internet connection. Try again later. I can log in to access my idisk, get e-mail, and generally do everything else. Why suddenly can't I publish? I'm using OS 10.4.10 and ilife'08. Thanks

I WAS a happy iWeb camper until two days ago. When I tried to add a page to my site today, it told me I was out of space, and to change my configuration, dump some files, or purchase additional storage. I dumped some pages that broke my heart to get rid of, published my iWeb to a file, then did a "get info" check - I'm only using 4.4 GB of space, I reset my mail to 30 MB, and it still tells me I'm out of space. The last time when I published the whole site I got the message that it could not connect to .mac account, to check my internet connection and try again. I'm just totally aggravated over this now. I spent a lot of time on the pages I got rid of for no apparent good reason, and still can't publish my new page. After all the aggravation when I installed Leopard on the 24" aluminum iMac, I thought I'd have smooth sailing now that they resolved the freezing problem. As Waylon Jennings said in his song, WRONG! Sure hope someone comes up with a fix for this one. Thanks, Deb

  • Publishing a Podcast to a NON .MAC account?

I searched the archieves but could not find an answer on this one. I recently moved my site from .MAC to another server. Everything is working except my Podcast. Anyidea why? I did check that the Podcast Folder did get FTP but it does not work.
    Here is a the link:
    http://thereconsulting.com/Podcast/13D73BC0-F523-4635-9843-4C301D91084C.html
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Rick

    The root
directory looks pretty much like you described except
that the index.html is in the thereconsulting folder,
    not in the root.
This is the issue. Yes, there is an "index.html" file inside the "thereconsulting" sitefolder, but the RSS feed that iWeb generates actually is expecting "thereconsulting" to be one of the subdirectories of your domain, which means that you must have an "outer" index.html file.
In my iWeb application I manage about 8 websites, so
the index.html that is in the root folder of my iWeb
is not the one related to thereconsulting.
I think I am understanding your problem a little better from this statement now. Are all of your 8 websites published to your domain or do you keep them published in separate places? Anyways, for the purpose of your "thereconsulting" site, when you do the "Publish to Folder" action, "thereconsulting" must be the default site so that the appropriate "outer" index.html file is generated. Then you must upload this "outer" index.html file along with the "thereconsuling" folder to your domain root directory. (Also don't forget to put in "http://www.thereconsulting.com" into the URL box for the purposes of the feed generation). THEN your feed should work perfectly.
I know it's a lot of work to go through, but iWeb really has a very rigid structure, and in order to get things working correctly it's important to play within this structure.
Sorry it took so long for me to reply. I missed your original followup.

  • IWeb and uploading to a different .mac account

where do I set the settings for the specific .mac account I want the web published to?
I have 2 .mac accounts and I would like to post to both .

I suspect that this is controlled by whatever details are provided in the Account pane for .Mac in System Preferences.

  • *** Publishing only one iweb site to .mac

I have a number of different sites creates in iWed that I normally upload to my own server and NOT my .mac account. I would like to clear my .mac space to 0 and then upload 1 of my entire movies there. I'd like to create the backdrop in iweb and publish this entire movie to my .mac account but I know that if I just go file>publish to .mac, that all my pages will upload to .mac.
Is there a manual way to control this? Ideally I'm hoping it's possible within iweb, but I'm guessing it's not. If it's not, will it work if I publish my pages to a folder, and then select my movie .html and files folder and manually drop them into my idisk/movies folder? Will that then publish only my movie site to my .mac account?
I'm not at the office today, so I'm just wondering if someone can give me a heads up if this may work. I'm trying to research in advance!
    Thanks everyone!

    Hi
Your iWeb sites are contained in a domain.sites file, which lives here:
    User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites
To separate sites, you need to have seperate domain files. You can do this by simply creating a second User Account on your Mac and creating the website there, and then use Publish to .mac.
Or you can swap out the domain files manually or use something like Domains Juggler, from Cyclosaurus.
There is some more info. on the How2 page of my site, www.willg4pb.com.

  • Best way to publish multiple sites without a .mac account?

Hi, all you mac geniuses out there!
So, I have a mac and a .mac membership and iweb. I use and love all of them. I also have a business in which I am about to incorporate the service of designing websites for various individuals. I would love to be able to use iweb for this. However, I can't put it all on my .mac account. So, my questions are the following:
    1. Do I charge people extra and buy them a .mac account so they have their own idisk even though they won't need the e-mail and other .mac features?
    2. Can I create a website for them on iweb, buy a domain name for them through godaddy or somewhere, publish to a folder, and then upload to a separate hosting space (like through godaddy or somewhere)? And if that's the case, what is the best (and easiest) place to host a site and how exactly does one go about uploading the site once it's published to a folder? Will it still look like the iweb layout?
    3. Any better suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Lisa

    1. Do I charge people extra and buy them a .mac
account so they have their own idisk even though they

I don't think this would be necessary...
    2. Can I create a website for them on iweb, buy a
domain name for them through godaddy or somewhere,
publish to a folder, and then upload to a separate
    hosting space...
Yes. The best thing for you to do would be to get familiar with a program called "iWebSites" ( http://mistergregg.com/cocoadrillosoftware/ ). I'm sure you don't want your personal .Mac website to be mixed in with your client websites. In addition, you will appreciate the ability to be able to publish your various websites INDEPENDENTLY of one another, so that you only publish your personal site to your .Mac account and your client sites individually as needed. iWebSites helps you to create separate Domain files for iWeb so that each website can "live" in its own space and be edited and published separate from every other site.
But yes, as far as your client websites go, prepare for a new site with iWebSites, design the site in iWeb, then "Publish to Folder" and then register and upload to the appropriate domain name server directory. I think this would be a slick way to run your business....full service, right?
Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Want to publish two differnt sites to totally different domain names.

I would like to publish the 2 sites I have created but want them to be directed to different domain names - is this possible? I want to buy two domain names (www.blank.com and www.empty.com) but I could not find how to do that or if it is possible.

To do this you really need to go with a commercial hosting service rather than .Mac for publishing. You could have one site on your .Mac account and one on another server, or have two .Mac accounts, but this is not a very cost effective way of doing it.
Most hosting services will give you at least one free domain registration.....
    http://www.hostexcellence.com/index.php/v2/pages.packages
... and allow you to publish several sites.
A useful tool for researching the availability of domain names is this dashboard widget...
    http://namecat.com/domain-name-grabber-widget.html
By doing this you lose the advantage of "one click" publishing and a few of the features of iWeb. You will have to publish your website to a folder and upload it to the server with an FTP application.
The main advantages are that, if you choose a reliable company, it is cheaper and you will have a faster and more reliable service with the benefit of tech support.

  • How to get Apple ID and password that is different to iTunes store account which I have already activated and completed contracts, tax information and bank information I want to create a Paid Books Account use apple ID

I was given this address from the Apple customer support team.
I have an active existing iTunes store account and use the same Apple ID for signing into my iTunes Connect Account that distributes Apps.
I have created some books using the iBook author and in order to distribute content on the iBookstore I have been told electronically that I need a new Apple ID and password that is different to iTunes store account which I have already activated and completed contracts, tax information and bank information valid until 2013?
I want to create a Paid Books Account using the same email address, tax information and bank information. This has been most frustrating, as I cannot get passed the sign in section and there is no contact person I can speak to. I was of the understanding the iTunes connect account and the Developer programs which I paid good money for is all what I needed to be paid for selling iBooks on the iBookstore???
I only have one email address and wish to also use it for the Paid Books Account. I have books ready to be exported and published.
I am also having trouble locating and downloading iTunes Producer. I understand I need to have the Paid Books Account active to access the iTunes Producer program. Please help.

    Hi Lrwill,
If the apps that are on your son's iPad were purchased under his Dad's Apple ID, then signing your Apple ID onto the iPad will not help you with updating those apps.
Also, if the iPad was sync'd with his Dad's iTunes library, then hooking it up to your computer/iTunes library, will require you to reset the iPad, and everything that was loaded under the other Library and Apple ID will be wiped out.
Can you provide a little more info about what was set up under which Apple ID and what iTunes library the iPad was sync'd with?
    Cheers,

  • How to publish from iWeb to two different .mac accounts

my household has two separate .macs account and we want to publish from iWeb to the two different accounts which I cannot figure out. thanks

I discovered I could duplicate Domain.sites2 (~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2). I named one "Domain de.sites2", and the other "Domain daru.sites2". Then I opened daru's site and deleted de's, then I opened de's and deleted daru's, and I have two separate sites (with aliases in the dock) that I presume I'll be able to upload separately. Once I get .Mac sub groups created...
If it works, it saves the hassle of creating other user accounts, since only my wife and I use the computer. Right now, .Mac is telling me I can't create a sub account in my wife's name because she already has a .Mac ID (and a two month free trial account she had to agree to, to join the group) for a group site I manage. I don't think she ought to be required to have a separate identity every time she logs into .Mac.

  • Publishing Streams in Different rooms?

    Hi,
So If i have someone streaming their cam and audio in a room. Then want to redirect that stream in a different room, but make it work in such a way where the user does not have to republish. is that possible. I understand you can be connected in multiple rooms at the same time. but could you detect that the camera is on in one room and redirect the stream into another?
    hope that makes sense.
    thanks.
    ...russ

    Hi Russ,
When you connect to any room, you get a connectSession Instance,  and whenever any stream( A/V) has to be created, it requires the NetConnection which is obtained from the connectSession instance( Refer to any of the Audio/Webcam Publisher code for details about creating NetStream).
Now if you are redirecting to a different room, it means a completely new connectSession and thus a new NetConnection, so you can't redirect the stream to a different room automatically.
What you can do is , to have your audio/webcam publisher publishing to a different room, something like
    audioPub.stop();
    audioPub.connectSession = "newSessionInstance" ;
    audioPub.subscribe();
    audioPub.publish();
to redirect your publisher to the new room that has the new connectSession.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Publishing to 2 different locations

I have a mobile me site that I made on i-web. I would like to make a completely separate website for a friend and publish it to a different server like "go daddy" how do I use iweb to create or publish to 2 different servers?

I would create a separate domain file for each site. I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want. If you haven't created the second site as yet then the above can be ignored and the second site can be created directly by iWebsites.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.
Once you have your friends site separate and ready to publish, use the File->Publish to a Folder menu option. That will create, within the folder you select, an index.html file and a folder with the site's name. You would then ftp that file and folder to the server that your friend will be using to host the site. Cyberduck is a free ftp client that is well though of in this forum.

Copy the movie from the current library to the correct library.
iDevices can only sync to one library at a time.
