Wants to upgrade processor for HP Pavilion 15-e015tu

Hi, I currently have Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz installed in my Laptop. So can i upgrade it to "Intel® Quad Core® i7-4702MQ 2.20-GHz processor (SC turbo up to 2.90-GHz; 1600-MHz FSB, 6.0-MB L3 cache, 37 W) "  or  "Intel Quad Core i7-3632QM 2.20GHz processor (SC turbo up to 3.2GHz; 1600-MHz FSB, 6.0-MB L3 cache, 35 W)"

Only the i7-3632QM. You can only have the 3rd gen processor not the 4th gen because you have the HM76 chipset and not the HM86 chipset. If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

  • Wanting to upgrade processor on PowerMac G4

Hi, I have a (Graphite) PowerMac G4 350 mhz. It's a PowerPC 2.8  (AGP Graphics). I want to upgrade the Processor. I found this upgrade.... http://www.newertech.com/products/maxpower47.php  Would this work for my specific Mac?
When I went to the OWC site for this processor, trying to find my specific PowerMac, they have a choice  for a
PowerMac 1,2 -Apple PowerMac G4 PCI Graphics "YIKES" 350MHz 1999
    or a
PowerMac 3,1 -Apple PowerMac G4 AGP Graphics "Sawtooth" 350MHz 1999
The thing that is confusing me is the numbers after the PowerMac... 1,2 and 3,1.......
mine is a PowerMac 2.8 G4 35MHz, AGP Graphics (Sawtooth? I am assuming in the name for the AGP Graphics)
I did ask their contact center and they told me no, my computer was not able to be upgraded...but with my computer having the AGP graphic, I don't see why not.  So, I thought I would ask some Mac people that may have upgraded their G4 processors.  This is kind of a hobby project for me.
    Thanks in advanced.
    Cindy

OK, heres what I got with the screen grab
My serial number isn't even listed.
And on the back of my computer, my serial number ends with a HLA, which comes up on the everymac site as a PowerMac G4 400Mhz... but mine is not a 400mhz.
    I also couldn't find my EMC# 1810 anywhere.
So I can't really find a yes or no if my computer is a 1,2 or a 3,1

  • Need to upgrade processor for Lion operating system

How do I upgrade my MacBook Pro processor for Lion operating system?

I have the same question. I have a MacBook Pro 1,2 (yeah, oooooold) with the 2.16 Intel Core Duo, running Snow Leopard. If I'd waited another month before buying, it would've had the Core 2 Duo.
It would appear that I can't upgrade to Lion. I found one forum post that gives me hope, but I'm not holding my breath: http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/apple-notebooks/84004-processor-upgrade.html#po st524333  It suggests that the CPU might not be soldered in. Which leads me to wonder if upgrading the processor is possible...
I'd like to know if upgrading the processor is possible and/or practical (as in, doesn't cost as much as buying a new mac).

    Hi:
Below is a link to the quickspecs for your PC. The supported processors can be found on page 3.

  • Advice on upgrading processor for HP A6010n (P5LP-LE Leonite MOtherboard)

Hi i did some searching around and yes i did find some results but most of those were posted back in 2006 so i am sure there are many new products and information since then.
I am currently attempting my first real pc rebuild and i am using my old Hp A6010n desktop (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00877010&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en#N101)
I have just dropped in 2x 1gb AE ram (AE 1GB DDR2 667 CL5, PC2-5300U-555 AET760UD00-30D) along side the 2x 512mb samsung ram that came with the system. i know ...i know i should have gotten 4x 1gb matching ram but i bought it locally for $20 and the only other ram available is 2gb dd2 which i dont think the mobo can support
now i am trying to upgrade the proccesor in hopes that would be the next big step. currently i have the Intel core Duo 2 E4300 which came with the system and i am looking to upgrade to the best that this mobo could handle. I have read that the fastest should be the intel E4700 @2.6 GHZ but then i read " should be able to pop in a quad Q6600 and POST.  Bottomline is if you have the right BIOS, then board will run well with any Intel 65nm Duo or Quad" so if anyone could shed some light on that would be awesome.
now this info is more than 5 years old. What i am aiming for is to upgrade this computer for gaming. Specifically I am still playing Skyrim so i would like to find what proccessor would be the "best" for this specific build and any instuction on what to do after i receive the processor in turn of installing the hardware and any software steps i would need to take would be appriciated as well
Edit: I forgot to mention that i did upgrade to an external video card which is as follows : ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 series according to CCC: 1791MB Memory size, 600Mhz core clock. i would like to upgrade but have no idea what to look for.
also have Adata 6gb/s SSD used strictly for games.
    Much thanks in advance

    Rzetek, welcome to the forum.
There is a BIOS update available.  You should be extremely cautious if you do the upadate.  A failed BIOS flash makes a very good boat anchor.
Here are the processors supported by the motherboard:
    Socket type: 775
Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
    Core 2 Duo E6x00
    Core 2 Duo E4x00
    Pentium D 9x0 Dual Core
    Pentium D 8xx Dual Core
    Pentium 4 6x1 series
    Celeron D 3xx series
Now, you may be able to install other processors, but this would be at your own peril.  HP has their motherboards made to their specs.  They are not the same as a retail mobo.
You are correct about the memory, because the mobo supports Dual channel memory architecture.  However, since you are running Vista 32-bit, the system will only recognize 3.25 GB of 4 GB the total supported.  It would be a bit faster in Dual channel.

  • Want to upgrade RAM on HP Pavilion dv6000

    Computer currently has 2GB RAM.
    Runs Vista 32-bit
    Looking upgrading RAM.
    Had a couple of questions:
Is it a matter of adding or replacing?
    Is there a max?
Is it a farily easy DYI porject?
    Thanks,
    Sid

    Hi:
I have attached the link to your service manual. Page 1-2 states you are already at the max with 2 GB.
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf
If you know someone who may have a 2 GB PC2 5300 chip, you can remove one of your 1 GB chips and see if it works, and reports 3 GB. If it reports 3 GB, then it would report 4 more than likely.
The chipset supports up to 4 GB of memory, but the BIOS may not allow it, and there are no BIOS release notes that add support for 4 GB of memory, so it would have to be an experiment on your part.
Installing memory is relatively easy. read Chapter 5 of the service manual for how to do it. Specifically chapter 5, starting on Page 5-12. Remember to remove the battery and A/C power before taking anything apart.

  • Choose upgrade processor for new Mini?

I'm considering the purchase of a new Mac MIni 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7. I see I can also get it with the 2.6GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 for $100. additional. What would that mean in performance and is it worth the extra hundred?

I agree. For everyday use, you'll see much better performance for your money with an SSD and the full 16Gb RAM you can add to a Mini. 300mHz will be negligible unless you're doing video editing and authoring, since they're both quad core.

  • Another video card/PSU upgrade for HP Pavilion p6565uk

    Hi there
I want to upgrade from the basic Nvidia card and 300W psu provided with my HP Pavilion P6565UK, purchased a few months ago.
I am looking at either a Corsair CX 600W or an Antec HCG-750W, I am not sure if there is a difference, and an EVGA Nvidia superclocked GTX550Ti card.
I am however really not technically minded and I am not sure how to go about making sure that these products will be suitable before I purchase them.
    I have 3D gaming in mind (I have a 120hz screen) as I am a Warcraft player.
Hope someone can help point me in the right direction or hold my hand as I am hopeless with stuff like this!

    Hi,
You might have issues getting the Antec HCG-750W to fit.  Do some measuring and see it will fit, particularly the distance between the power supply and the optical drive.  I have see where PSUs of 750 and greater have failed to work in some HP PC's.
Go with the Corsair CX600 or the CX500.
I noticed that EVGA has lowered the PSU requirements for some video cards.  Look at this information for the 550 TI superclocked.
