WAP 2.0 support on 8700

I have an old 8700 from Vodafone in the UK that does not have a service book entry for WAP 2.0.  Can anyone tell me if the 8700 supports WAP 2.0, and in particular if a US AT&T 8700 would have a WAP 2.0 service book entry?

Hi,
As per other forums per other "wap 2.0" posts, simlpy change the Browser Emulation to MS Pocket IE.
Browser - Options - Browser Configuration - Emulation Mode

  • N9 Java Support

Hi, Does N9 have java support?
I'm trying to download a java app and getting the error message below
    "type text/vnd.wap.wml not supported"

    N9 doesn't support java same as N900
but N900 does support java through microemulator which can run most of java apps and games so if someone ports microemulator then N9 may run some java apps

  • Microtek 8700 scanner and 10.5.8

Hi, After updating to 10.5.8 a while ago my scanner software, Scanwizard 7.21.3 still works but when saving a scan the file naming is reduced to only 1 character. This is of course highly annoying. I've reinstalled Scanwizard but the problem remains. On the Microtek site I read it could be a solution to try Scanwizard 7.20 which does not support the 8700. Are there people around here who can confirm this is a solution that works? Microteck is known for having very poor service that's why I'm asking around here.

try looking into VueScan scanner software. The website is hamrick.com. Somewhere on there they have a list of supported scanners. If yours is listed on the supported scanner list, I'd buy it. The "professional" license which I think boils down to free updates forever is a bit pricey at $80 or thereabouts, but I have been using VueScan with a Umax Astra 6400 scanner since early 2002 and have never had any issues or problems with it. I'm pretty sure that you can download it as trialware to drive test it first.

  • How can I print to HP Photosmart 8750 Professional printer?

    Hello to all.
I have a G3 400 mhz. Blue and White, with Sonnet upgrade to G4 1 gig. Print jobs stopped on HP Photosmart 8750 Professional printer, possibly after upgrading to OS 10.4.10 (printer connected via USB). After reading discussions on this forum, I reset printer system, started from OS disk and repaired permissions and hard drive, ran Tech Tool Pro, did an Archive and Install, downloaded latest drivers from HP, etc. etc.
Now, in HP Setup Assistant, printer is not listed in window, therefore unable to continue with installation. Printer does not show up in Print and Fax and I cannot add printer, as the driver is never installed. Purchased a new USB 6 ft. cord (only 6 ft. allowed for this printer).
Have not used it, as I cannot plug it in until printer listed in window and recognized. Upgraded to 10.4.11, hoping it would solve problem. No such luck. Printed a sample page and test page, and printer worked. Please send detailed instructions, listing each step in successive order. Thank you for your efforts to solve this problem.
    Versatile Lady

10.4.x supports the 8700 printer series and has a driver built in for it.
It will not hurt the printer to plug it into the computer at anytime. I have the hp Photosmart 3310 and it doesn't give a hoot about this.
    I would do this.
Do this without the hp installation program.
    Restart the computer,
    restart the printer.
plug the printer into the mac and see if the mac will find it with these instructions.
    This is Apple's instructions
    1. Disconnect and reconnect every cable between the computer and the printer. Make sure all cables are firmly inserted.
    2. USB printers only: Switch the USB cable connection from the current USB port to another USB port.
    3. USB printers only: Open Apple System Profiler and click the Devices and Volumes tab. If the printer still does not appear, try a different cable.
    4. Try to print again.
Once the printer connects you may want to install any specific hp stuff off the disk.

  • Network topology for extending wireless range with WAP321

    Hi all,
I have an WAP321 accespoint connected to my router/firewall. There are 2 SSID active each assigned to a different VLAN. Now I want to extend the range of my wireless network and looking into options.
Adding another WAP321 is the first thing on my mind. When I read the documentation the cluster option looks perfect for me.
The only thing I don't find in the documentation is if the second WAP321 should be hard wired with the LAN for the data connection. I don't have the possibility to get a network cable to the second WAP321 location. So I am looking for a repeater with respect to multiple SSID's.
    Does clustering solve my problem?
    Regards,
    Martin.

Hi, My name is Eric Moyers. I am a Network Support Engineer in the Cisco Small Business Support Center. Thank you for using the Cisco Community Post Forums.
The option that you need to use is WDS Bridge. To use this you need to have two WAP321's as bridging to like WAPs is only supported. (121 to 121, 321 to 321)
Is only for ease of management and not for extending.
This is easy to setup and there is good detail in the admin guide and in help in the GUI.
    Here is an abbreviated version:
    To configure a WDS bridge:
Click Wireless > WDS Bridge in the navigation window.
Select Enable for Spanning Tree Mode
When enabled, STP helps prevent  switching loops. STP is recommended if you configure WDS links.
    Select Enable for WDS Interface
    Configure the remaining parameters:
Repeat these steps for up to three additional WDS interfaces.
Click Save. The changes are saved to the Running Configuration and to the Startup  Configuration.
    Thanks

  • Flash lite in XHTML or in WML

    Hi All,
Can we insert the Flash lite movie in xHTML or WML.
If yes, will it work on Flash lite2.1 demo player.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sridhar B

    Ciao
only certain mobile phones support FL content on a mobile
    site.
Currently there are Nokia 3rd Ed phones that support FL1.1 in
the WAP browser and Nokia 3rd Ed FP1 in the S60 browser.
So, the Nokia N93 supports FL1.1 content in the WAP
Nokia N95 supports FL2 in the S60 Browser.

  • SR520 WLAN and QOS

    Hello all,
I wanted to know if the WLAN on a SR520 supports QOS.
We are trying to setup a teleworker site and want to stick with the 500 family of devices.  The requirement of the teleworker site is to have hard wired PCs connecting to the SR520 and a wireless phone at the teleworker site with good voice quality (QOS).
For Example, take the UC500 (not a typo UC500) and its built-in WLAN (assuming you order it this way).  According to the documentation the WLAN will work with the Cisco 7921 (for example), but does not support QOS over that WLAN antenea, you must get a WAP or WLC and WAP combination to support QOS over WLAN.
I would appreciate seeing this in a Cisco official document.
    Thanks, John

The SR520 is WMM certified, but it does not support diversity. For mixed wireless voice and wireless data deployments it should be a good choice. However, you are sayig that the PC's will be wired to the network, while the voice will be wireless. In this case, I think that more important than WLAN QoS is WAN QoS. The reason is that with this being a teleworker deployment, the 7921 will be registering to a remote UC500.
With regards to the lack of QoS/WMM support in the UC500, that has changed somehow. We still mandate that you deploy a WAP/WLC when using the 7921. But with the new SPA525 phone (wireless desk phone), CCA will push QoS configuration for the embedded and external access points, depending on the deployment model. Notice that this is possible because there are no roaming or mobile considerations (the SPA525 is a "static" phone).
    Hope this helps,
    Marcos

  • Cookie session question

I wan't to know how to maintain session or cookie in a wap application.
As far as I know wap doesn't support(certainly current version) cookie.
my scenario is user login(i wan't to save its user id in the session)
He choose a brand then category then sku then enter sales from a input box.
I wan't tosave the sale with userid(i don't wan't to pass user id to each page)
    So what can i do.
Please help as I am a new bie to WAP

woah, really? so would my best bet be to use a java
-> com bridge and then just re-login using that?Errr.
    Okay here is the issue.
The browser should only send cookies back to the server (or domain actually) from whence they (the cookies) originally came. This prevents a malicious site from reading cookies set by other sites which is good for all sorts of reasons. Imagine for a moment if I could send you to a site where I could read the cookies set on this site. I could pretend to be logged in as you then.
So ultimatley if you want the browser to have a cookie it will send to a site it has to get it from that site in the first place and it shouldn't be getting it from somewhere else aka your code.
Does this help explain it better?

  • Wireless Design help needed

We have 4402 controllers with (6) 1242AP's and I'm wondering would it be beneficial to add a couple more AP's to our network to accomodate more users that are coming in or design for a new platform?
I'm not sure what the costs may be to go to a new controller based platform or what AP's would be best (1130's?).
Can onyone provide some insight not in depth but ballpark figures.
    thanks.

    Yes.

Depends on your budget.  The most affordable WAP that only supports 802.11a/b/g is the 1130.  If you want to support 802.11 a/b/g/n then you should be looking at the 1040.

You need to ask your nearest authorized Cisco reseller.  Get a quote from at least three of them so you know what you're up against.
If you still think they are pricey, then try Cisco Refurbished.

A "session" is stored in memory on the server and is bound to a specific "sessionId". The sessionId is stored in a cookie by default. When the browser submits the cookie the webserver can use that value to link an existing session to that client.

  • Cisco 802.11n Outdoor Access Point

I have to propose to a client a 802.11n outdoor Acess point with external antenna, tha gain must be >8 dbi.
Which cisco model should i use ?

I have to propose to a client a 802.11n outdoor Acess point with external antenna, tha gain must be >8 dbi.
DO NOT, under any circumstances, use 1260 or 3500e if you plan to use antennas > 6 dBi.  These two models DO NOT SUPPORT antenna gain higher than 6 dBi.  The only two 802.11n-capable WAP that can support high-gain antenna of > 6 dBi are the 1250 and the 3500p.
Antenna Product Portfolio for Cisco Aironet 802.11n Access Points
The 1250 is End-of-Sale (End-of-Sale Date:  12 January 2012) and requires 20.0w of PoE.  The 1250 can support antenna gain > 6 dBi.
The 3500p was released around mid-2011 because people were howling/screaming about the lack of high-gain antenna support, thus the 3500p was developed alongside the AIR-ANT25137NP-R.
Cisco recommends that the installation of the AIR-ANT25137NP-R should be done with proper sight-survey.

  • Best Wireless Bridge Option

    Hopefully someone here can help...
I'm in the process of extending our office network to a building across the street (150 feet away with clear LOS).  The group moving over there does constant file transferring (5Gb - 20Gb), so I want to go with something fast but not break the bank.  The 1300 series only does G, so it's not fast enough.  However, it is cheap, so loadbalancing over two sets of 1300s could be an option.  The 1552e looks like it might do what I want, but I can't really tell.  From the documentation it sounds like it might require a controller.  Does anyone know if it can be used as a point to point bridge without a controller?
I browsed Aruba's site, and it looks like they have like 10 different APs that do what I want, while Cisco's selection seems rather limited.  Anyone have any experience with something like this.

You need a WAP that will support external antenna.  Since you have a budget, then you need the WAP to also be autonomous.
The contenders are:  1240 and the 1260.
The 1240 will only support 802.11 a/b/g and has a FastEthernet port.  The 1260 will support 802.11a/b/g/n and has a GigabitEthernet port.

  • Does the iPhone support WAP Billing?

One of our customers asks to integrate WAP Billing into a native iPhone app. As far as we understand the iPhone does support WAP for MMS distribution but not any further.
The question here is: Is there any chance to integrate WAP Billing into a native iPhone app? We guess embedding a UIWebView would not help as it doesn't render WAP pages.
If somebody could shed some light on this topic, that would be greatly appreciated.
